A new Beginning

Chapter three: We got assaulted

(I would just like to let everyone know that I’m not good at putting Applejack’s accent into words, so for the sake of my own sanity, I will have her talk normally and throw in some of her slurs when I can… sorry y’all!)

We flew towards Sweet Apple Acres in silence, when we had arrived, we knocked on the door and were immediately greeted by AppleJack who violently shook my hoof. The force of Applejack shaking my hoof restricted my ability to speak; Luckily, Shakes was there to stop that. He took hold of her hoof and started shaking it “My name is Cloud Shaker! Nice to meet you Applejack”

She turned to me and i introduced myself. "My name is Dark Night"

"Nice to meet ya!"

Applejack took us inside and introduced us to Granny Smith, Big Macintosh, and Applebloom (who was wearing her CMC cape) Big Mac shook my hoof and responded in a deep toned voice “Nice to meet you” He backed away and when Applebloom saw we didn’t have cutie marks, she fainted on the spot.

Applejack smiled and laughed “haha, it’s getting late, let’s get Applebloom to bed, Dark, would you like to help?”

I didn’t have anything better to do “Sure” I pick up Applebloom and I help carry her to her bed, I put her down and I placed the blankets over her. Applejack and I Quietly walk out of her room. Once we were out Applejack closed the door and we went back downstairs.

Shakes was talking to Big Mac, and Granny Smith was passed out in her rocking chair. We went into the living room and Applejack sat across from me. “Soo… uhh, where are ya interested in sleeping at? Ya can sleep in my room, Applebloom’s, or the barn, whichever suits your needs”

I looked away, “Y-y-your r-room would be f-fine”

“Great! I suppose I’ll show you around the farm when there is light in the sky, but for now come with me, I’m getting tired and I’m heading to bed,” She gets up and trots up the stairs towards her room “You coming?”

“Yes” I get up and I follow her into her room. She opened a door with an apple printed on the middle of it, I stepped inside and I looked around. One bed, green floors, red rug, nightstand with a lamp on it, and various knick-knacks hung around her room. She pointed to a pile of blankets folded in one corner of her room.

“Go ahead and get yerself situated, I’ll be back in a minute, I am going to go see what your brother wants to do for his sleeping arrangements”

“Okay” Applejack left the room and I went to make myself a bed, by pulling down two blankets, one to lay on and the other to go ontop of me while I sleep.

After I make the bed and I lay down, I start to hear hoofsteps coming towards the door, it opens and I see Applejack accompanied by Shakes enter.

“It appears yer brother wants to sleep in here too, well I reckon that is fine by me.” Applejack goes to lay down on her bed

“Gnite dark, Gnite Shakes”

“Good night Applejack” we both say. The orange pony just laughs a little and falls asleep.

Shakes grabs two blankets from the pile and makes another bed, just like mine. I close my eyes and I fall asleep.

In my dream I was back on earth, but I was still a pony, I walked around on familiar streets and I walk up to my apartment, which was rented out to another family. There was a frame on the wall with a piece of paper inside of it that read:

“R.I.P. Joshua Hansen and Levi Hansen, May their souls rest in piece”

I backed away from it and I ran outside, somehow it had become nighttime, I ran towards the restaurant I used to eat at a lot but there was a sign that read the same thing, Posted on a banner outside of the restaurant. I looked up and I saw a figure, but not just any figure, it looked… like a PONY!

The figure landed a few feet in front of me, from watching the TV show, I knew who it was.

“Princess Luna” I bowed.

“Rise, Dark. I’ve come with a message. ‘Survive the night and your destiny will be set in stone’ not literally anyway. Keep faith and you will do fine.”

“Princess Luna… what does that message mean?”

“I am not certain, but keep your wits about you Dark Night, and you will do well”

“I don’t like it… but I guess I have no choice. I am honored to be in your presence Princess Luna”

The princess didn’t say another word and vanished from sight. I woke up; it is still Night-time. I whisper quietly to myself:

“What did Princess Luna say? ‘Survive the night and your destiny will be set in stone’? Well, I hope it isn’t talking about this night, because if it is…. I’m screwed”

Apparently Shakes heard me because he groaned in his sleep. “right, I need to keep quiet” I get out of bed and I sneak downstairs, past Granny Smith and out the front door. I trot toward a stray tree stump and I sit down on it. “It still feels like a dream. But it looks so realistic.” I pinch myself and I winced in pain. “Definitely not a dream”

I looked up and I saw a figure soar through the air, it was a figure with a pitch black coat and stripes or crimson in his mane and tail… wait a second, that’s Shadow! I wonder what he is doing out here.

I looked closer and I saw that he was staring at something behind me, as if there was something trying to sneak up on me to rip my heart out. I turn around to see a Giant Black figure with sharp claws looming over me. I jump off of the tree stump and I rocketed into the sky.

Not a moment too soon, the beast had narrowly missed me with its claws and is coming in for another strike at me. I flew out of its reach but then the black figure melted away into a pitch black gryphon-shaped bird with solid white eyes. I flew away as fast as a could knowing I had to get away, I caught a glimpse of shadow flying behind the beast, probably seeing if I’d need help or not.

I managed to out-fly the gryphon. I flew down and I picked up a rock in my hooves, I turned around in midflight and I threw the rock, nailing the gryphon right in its left eye. It roared in outrage, while it was distracted I picked up a few more rocks, which were slightly bigger and sharper on some edges.

“Eat these!” I threw the rocks into the gryphon’s open maw, the gryphon tried to swallow them like a nasty pill and I flew in with the sharpest rock I could find and I jabbed it into the gryphon’s chest, where its heart should be. It either didn’t pierce deep enough or the heart was somewhere else because the rock fell out and the gryphon swipped at my wing, knocking me to the ground, I immediately ran off on hooves towards the farm house.

I turned around to see shadow cheering me on, the gryphon was right on my tail… literally, I ran away as fast as I could, I found another rock and I threw it at the gryphons right eye, temporarily blinding it. It roared loudly, I kept running and I saw Applejack’s room light turn on and I saw Applejack staring at me in horror.

“whoo-wee! Looks like you got yerself a rodeo! You gotta ride the bull!” She shouted

I picked up another rock and threw it, temporarily blinding the gryphon again, I took Applejack’s advice and I jumped on its back, I buried my hooves into its black mane and it tried to buck me off. I was going to say something really badass, but if I tried to open my mouth, I’d probably bite my tongue off.

Finally the gryphon started getting tired and it fell to the ground. Cautious that this may just be a feint defeat move, I warily grabbed a stone off of the ground and I advanced on the gryphon, plunging it deep into its chest. I pierced it’s heart and it was starting to dissolve, I could hear it say something but I couldn’t catch what it said.

Shadow Flash flew in behind me “DUDE, THAT WAS AWESOME!” I was too tired from that experience to say anything, I just fell over onto a pile of ash on the ground from there the gryphon died and I passed out.

When I opened my eyes I saw Applejack, Shadow and Shakes looming over me, smiling at me.

Applejack said: “Dang I knew that Shadow could’ve taken down a Regenerans Bestia but when I saw you it attacking you, I thought you would be a goner, but you killed it and that is amazing”

Shadow nodded and said: “Yeah, I didn’t know if you could’ve taken it by yourself, I even made a wager with myself saying that you wouldn’t last more than a minute with it… boy was I wrong”

Shakes turn to me, he opened his mouth and shouted: “DUDE, THAT WAS AWESOME! I only got to see the part where you were riding it like a bull but I’ve got to admit, that was awesome”

I leaned forward and I rubbed my head “what did you call it? Something like ‘regenerans bestia’? what does that mean?”

Shadow responded first: “It is latin for ‘regenerating beast’ it regenerates its lost limbs, you can only kill one by piercing its heart”

I blinked at Shadow. “Regenerating beast huh? Supposedly it is one of the most deadly creatures on this planet?”

Shadow nodded. “Yep, and you killed one”

“Once my wing is better, you’re going to teach me how to fight”

Shadow laughs “Sure thing, now you get some rest, you can’t use that wing until it is fully healed”

“Understood” I smile at Shadow, I look at Shakes and Applejack again and I passed out.
