Resting

It was a glorious day in Greenvale, if it weren't for the little creatures running around smashing various forms of crates, jars, and sheep skulls. A little ways past the outskirts of the town a lone figure sat under a blooming tree. The Overlord was currently resting his body on the sun warmed ground with his armor protecting his human flesh from the painful rays of the sun his honored curved sword Servas laid against the bark next to him. He heard little feet approach him and cracked one lava red eye and peered out of his helmet. A Brown minion stood in front of him holding a small lifeforce orb harvested form one of the sheep he had bludgeoned, decapitated, and was currently wearing its skullcap as a helmet. The minion, named Claw held out the gold orb proudly, and the Overlord reached out and grasped it in his left hand. The lifeforce turned into a line, and moved swiftly across his gauntlet into the large gold orb set into the back of the palm.

The sphere was absorbed and the Overlord gave a grunt of satisfaction. Claw ran off to rejoin his brothers in the carnage. The Minions left the townsfolk alone and the townsfolk left his army alone. If they did mess with the Minions the Overlord would smite their little town in a heartbeat with no mercy. He watched the minions run around, eating and drinking and gave out a small chuckle, and he closed his eye again drinking in the Chaos of it all. He awoke when the sound of a Nether Gate tunneling out of the ground caught his ears. He stood up slowly and gripped Servas in his right hand. He motioned for the minions to come to him with a small wave of his hand. Claw saw him and turned to the minion next to him, and hit him with the blunt end of his sword.

"The Master calls for us!" he hissed, and the twenty nine other minions followed him to their Master's side. The Overlord waited for the gate to appear, wondering what this could mean. He turned towards the small town just in time to see it get swallowed up, citizens and all by the Nether Gate.

The Overlord merely grunted, there was no large loss, for there were other towns to conquer and more lifeforce to gather. He stepped towards the newly formed gate and thought of himself teleporting back to his evil castle deep under the earth. The Minions returned to their burrows when they saw him disappear in the blue light.

As the Overlord stepped out of the main atrium holding his throne, he noticed that his Mistress, Kelda, and the usual throng of Minion laborers was absent, which left the room oddly quiet. He saw Torch, a Red Minion walk towards him. As he stopped, he opened his mouth and belched a small bout of flame. He pounded his chest and spoke, "Gnarl in Tower Heart Chamber, he say bring you there, Tower Heart hot, way hot. Follow Master!" he scuttled past the Overlord to the three floating rock platforms, and waited for the Master on the farthest one to the right. The Overlord followed him and rode it up to the Tower Heart. As he entered, he saw Gnarl staring up at the now crimson heart. He felt the Master's presence and turned.

"Master! Good, you are here. The Tower Heart needs dark energy, it is crumbling. Can you charge it up please?" The Overlord looked at Gnarl for a second longer than necessary, then turned towards the heart.

The red guards broke the circle as the Master charged energy in his gauntlet as he walked towards the silver globe. He unleashed into a stream of white blue energy that struck the heart of the Heart. The red began to slowly diffuse to be replaced with a cool blue. The minions cheered as he poured more of his evil presence into the Heart, but stopped as the remaining red shocked into a bright lavender and shot back through the Lord's magic and into his arm. The normally golden globe turned the same color as the surface of the crystal heart and the Master was blown backwards off his feet, landing with an ear murdering screech of stone on steel. The minions and Gnarl could only watch in horror as the Heart slowly started cracking like ice under pressure. Before it began to implode. The Overlord was able to lift his battered sword arm and bury it in a crevice in the rock, then he grabbed Gnarl around the waist and held him tight. When it did, he only thought one thought. "They are expendable, we are not." as Minions hurtled into the void.
