Twilight walked up to the Duel Box and got seated inside. Across from her was Cloud Tumble, who said, "Greetings. You'll notice that below you is a field. You see, while we play Magic on the table, the creatures will battle it out on the holographic field below."

After shuffling their decks, they both shouted, "Let's duel!"

Twilight played an Island and ended. Cloud Tumble played a Swamp and ended as well. Early in MtG duels, not much will happen.

Then, Twilight played another Island and cast a creature, Merfolk Mesmerist, with 1 Attack and 2 Health. To her amazement, the creature appeared below them on the holographic field. She then ended her turn.

Cloud Tumble played a Swamp and then cast Sarcomancy. Its effect allowed Cloud to place a 2/2 Zombie Token into play. He then ended his turn and said, "I wouldn't want to lose if I were you. Nightmare Moon's guards have your friends in their iron sights."

Twilight looked around and noticed small holes in the wall. She looked closer and found a guard in each one, aiming at what was presumably her friends. She said, "You creep. I won't let you or Nightmare Moon hurt me or my friends."

Twilight then went. She placed another Island down and then cast Illusionary Servant onto the battlefield with 3/4. If it became the target of any spells or abilities, it would immediately be sacrificed. Then, Merfolk Mesmerist attacked.

Cloud said, "I'll take the 1 damage." His life dropped to 19. Twilight then ended her turn.

Cloud Tumble began his turn by setting another swamp and then casting Dread Warlock, with 2/2. Twilight thought, "Oh no, I can't block Dread Warlock! It can only be blocked by Black creatures, and all my creatures are Blue!"

"Heh," Cloud Tumble said. "Looks like you're in an unfavourable position." The crowd was going wild, with many thinking that Cloud Tumble would win.

Twilight said, "I'm not afraid of you." She then began her turn. She set another Island and cast Thassa, God of the Sea, a powerful 5/5 creature. Illusionary Servant then attacked. Cloud blocked it with his Zombie Token. As a result, the Token was destroyed, and Cloud Tumble took no damage. Then, he realised what he had just done.

"Damn," Cloud Tumble thought. "I'll lose 1 life per turn since I don't have a Zombie on the field anymore! I better get another Zombie."

Twilight ended her turn. Cloud Tumble began his turn and lost 1 life, reducing his to 18. Then, Twilight activated an Instant, Blustersquall, which tapped Dread Warlock until the end of Cloud Tumble's turn. Cloud set a Swamp and then cast Bog Raiders, a 2/2 zombie that could not be blocked as long as Cloud has a Swamp, of which he had 4. He then ended his turn by saying, "I have more Zombies where that came from. Many more."
