Twilight Sparkle solves a broken necklace given to her by Celestia and becomes the heir to the Shadow Games. She must fight her way out of trouble caused by Bullies, Criminals, and other forces of Evil through various games.

The History of Games in Equestria extend over 3000 years into the past, when Equestria made contact with Ancient Egypt. This contact led to cultural diffusion, which led to the concept of Shadow Games being brought to Equestria.

In the present, a certain mare solves a necklace that was once owned by Princess Celestia. The necklace contains the key to the Shadow Games, which she now has. Now, she has 2 hearts, 1 of light, and 1 of darkness.
