Stranger Danger

They seemed to be enjoying themselves, even with them having to hold their friend down so the doctor could run a diagnostic. The seven of them were very closely knit. More so than anything else that I have seen before.

Then again I haven't seen any groups of friends before, at least not that I can remember. I said to myself.

Seeing that they were content with their friend's health, I walked out of the room with sadness slowly filling my heart with each step.

I don't have any friends do I? I asked myself, as I exited the hospital.

Never have and never will. The other voice in my head said.

Now thats not necessarily true. I argued with it.

Are you kidding me? They will never become friends with you after what you did!

First off, who are you? Second off, why am I not creeped out by a voice in my head that isn't mine? And thirdly, I haven't done anything wrong! I said to the voice.

Not yet you haven't, not yet. The voice said ominously.

And I never will! I yelled to the voice.

I had been lost in my thoughts for so long that I had walked to the outskirts of town to a cliff that overlooked a gorge. Realizing that I had no where to go, I began to sing one of the many songs that I had memorized in the void, one that mimicked how I felt now:

♫ I walk a lonely road, the only one that I have ever known,

Don't know were it goes but its only me and I walk alone,

I walk this empty street, on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams... ♫

I sang to the world, the song echoing my feelings and the gorge echoing the song. I kept singing the song til I reached the end, and then I started over, not stopping until I heard a sound behind me. It was the six friends of the mare that I had saved earlier. One of them was a strange lizard-looking thing.

Its a baby dragon. The thought popped into my head. Hmm, once again random knowledge that surfaces when it likes.

"Umm, hi girls. Is she okay? I didn't kill her did I?" I said, a sudden feeling of dread immediately shoving the sadness out of my heart.

"No." The lavender unicorn replied.

"She is just fine darling." The other unicorn continued, this one had a pure white coat and was definitely beautiful, but she seemed too proper.

"In fact she wanted to say thank you." The orange earth-pony said, as the last two ponies, one a pink earth-pony and one a yellow pegasus nodded in agreement.

"Okay, then I'll be right over." I said.

"That song," Purple said, "its very depressing."

"Although you do have a wonderful singing voice." White chimed in.

"Yeah! Maybe Rainbow can get you a job over at the bar she goes to all the time! Ya know the one run by Vinyl and Octavia!" Pink continued.

"That is if your stayin' here, if your just headin' home or somethin' then have fun while your here but we won't keep ya." Orange corrected.

"Well I don't really have a home..." I said, once again feeling the sadness welling up inside me.

"Oh, are you and your family traveling performers?" Pink asked, butting back into the conversation.

"Well I don't really have a family either, at least none that I can remember... I guess I'm alone." I said still feeling the urge to hear the gorge echo my feelings around its walls.

"Don't you worry sugarcube, you will never have to be alone again." Orange said.

"Welcome to Ponyville you have just officially become the new resident!" Pink yelled, bouncing with joy.

Just then all of them except for the dragon brought me into a strangling group hug. The only thing that kept me from suffocating was the fact that I could travel at light speed. I narrowly dodged their hug of death and took off towards the hospital.

I entered the mare's room through the window, backwards, due to the fact that I was watching for the yellow pegasus still wary of the death hug, and I didn't know how fast she could fly. I hit the windowsill and did a backflip and landed, quite gracefully, on my fore hooves.

"Wow nice moves!" The cyan pegasus said from her position in her hospital bed. "I give it a 8.35!"

"Eh, I've done better." I responded as I walked over to her, feeling better after seeing her.

"Really? How much better?" She asked, a spark of challenge in her eyes.

"Well, I just broke three barriers on my take-off to get here." I said matter-of-factly.

"Yeah right! There are only two barriers stupid! The sound and the color barriers!" She said, obviously not taking me seriously.

"No there are in fact four barriers: sound, color, light, and dimensional." I said, confused as to where this knowledge was coming from.

"Oh great, now you sound like Twilight." She said rolling her eyes.

"Who?" I asked.

That name... it seems so familiar... I continued in my head.

"Ya know, Twilight Sparkle? The Great Princess Celestia's protege? The Element of Magic? Jeez do ya live under a rock or something, everypony knows Twi-"

I cut her off with my screams of pain, as I clenched my head and saw the ground fast approaching.

I awoke to a darkness so thick I could cut it. I felt a presence, one that made the darkness seem happy and joyful in comparison.

"Show yourself!" I yelled into the abyss.

What I saw was not a pleasant sight. A demon pony about eight feet tall, with a wingspan to match, deep red eyes that penetrated my very soul, and an aura that would make the happiest of creatures lose their will to live.

"Scarlet Night..." I said, my voice barely a whisper.

"Ah so you do remember me." The demon said in a deep voice that shook my very being.

She- no, it, there was nothing left of the once innocent pony it had possessed. It smiled only to reveal it's teeth, that of a carnivore, the same color as its skin, a black that sucked you into a void if you even just glanced at it.

"How could I forget..." I whimpered.

What? How could I forget... what? It seems that I actually have forgotten. I thought.

"Ha! Scared, good you should be! Just like your father and brother were." It said, tormenting me.

"You followed me across the time-space continuum, only to haunt me of a past that I don't remember! I swear by all that is holy, I WILL SLAUGHTER YOU WHERE YOU STAND!!" I bellowed suddenly gaining courage with the mention of my unknown family.

"Go ahead, try it." It whispered in my ear, even with it being a whisper it was nearly deafening.

I tried to move, only to be greeted by an intense pain that pulsated throughout my body.

"Oh yeah, thats right, I control your body now! Resist it and be punished by the worst pain imaginable!" It said as it burst into maniacal laughter.

"Screw you..." I said weakly as I once again found the floor approaching my face.

I found myself in a hospital bed, but I was seeing myself from above.

"Oh yeah, I'm going to make you watch as your new home meets the same fate as your last." It said in one last remark before there was silence.

"Oh no your not!" I yelled, as I charged at my body, and was met with a barrier.

I felt a familiar pain in every part of my...um...consciousness? Was that the right word?

"ARG!!" I yelled, obviously no one had heard me.

I watched as my body walked through the hospital, ignoring the warnings from the doctors, and out the front door. It then marched strait to the center of town, and waited. It waited until it was the square had the most people it could have, then it struck. It caused utter chaos, blowing up stalls, and stores, and other buildings, shattering the hopes and dreams of many a pony, and I was forced to watch. I was unable to do anything, I was worthless. The destruction continued until Twilight and the rest of her friends arrived. An epic battle ensued, between my body and the Elements of Harmony, shamefully I admit to feeling honored to fight them. I couldn't make out more than half of the battle, due to the constant waves of pain that washed over my body.

"You bastard," I said " you make me feel all of the pain you should receive."

"Yeah," my body said aloud, "I hope it hurts you more than you can imagine!"

"Nah, I've had worse." I continued, slowly coming up with a plan.

"Oh really? How much worse?" My body asked.

"Ah!" I grunted as another wave of pain flowed through my body.

"Sir, why are you doing this? It makes no sense, you save Rainbow Dash, only to turn around and destroy Ponyville's town square!" Twilight said to my body, who only shook its head and grinned a grin that could only be mastered by a demon.

"Jeez, talk about bipolar." The baby dragon said, this brought about a couple of smiles from his friends, and it seemed to rejuvenate them, bring back their energy.

Magic of Friendship, duh! I thought. ...ok now I am really scared as to where those are coming from...

My body got back into its fighting stance and attacked, only to be met with the force of the most powerful spells and kicks from the six most powerful ponies in Equestria. The pain that followed caused me to blackout, the last thing I heard was maniacal laughing.
