Through the Struggles of our Incest Relationship
Chapter 2 - Flitter Snaps

The following morning after being caught was not nice. Father had pulled us out of bed before his work shift. Tired and confused Cloudchaser and I sat at the dinner table as our father droned on about how disgusted he was with us. “You’re mother and I raised you two with love and care,” he ranted. “We didn’t bring you up like this... I don’t know if this has happened before but- Look at me when I’m talking to you Cloudchaser.” Cloudchaser who had been staring at a candle burn in the table looked up, sullen. “If we catch either of you doing this again I will personally pack your things and you’re both out. Is that understood?”
We both nodded silently.
“Good,” he growled. “I will not have morally deprecated ponies under this roof.” Father sighed and looked at our mother. “Well hon I’m off to work; I don’t want to be late.” With that father left, the front door closing behind him. I looked at Cloudchaser and she looked back surprised. No punishment? “No desert for a week or no grounding?”
“I still cannot fathom why-“Mother began, looking stern.
With a scrape of a chair Cloudchaser got up. “Oh just drop it mother,” Cloudchaser snapped. “You’ve proven your point. I’m going for a fly if you don’t mind.” I got up too. “I need space Flitter,” Cloudchaser growled as she stormed passed me, her tail flicked and cracked with anger.
I watched her storm out and sighed. “And just as I thought I raised two perfect young adults,” Mother sighed.
I felt a stab in my heart at those words, a mix of pity and anger. Clearly my parents were over-reacting. It’s not like we stole something or murdered somepony. “Your over-reacting mum,” I blurted out. I covered my mouth instantly; shocked I had spoken my mind.
I felt my mother’s eyes narrow without needing to look at her. “What makes you say that Flitter? How am I as a mother supposed to react?” she asked dangerously.
“We didn’t do anything bad,” I said quickly. “I mean... It’s not like we are thieves or murderers.”
“Flitter!” Mother said exasperated. “You slept with your sister... How is this not bad? “
“It didn’t hurt anypony,” I protested. “I understand that what we did was wrong but you’re blowing this out of proportion.”
“Am I?’ mother seethed, her feathers starting to stand on end. “And what would you do in my situation then, Flitter?”
“I don’t know; I’m not a parent...” I retorted.
“Then you have no say in the matter, young lady,” she said.
I opened my mouth before closing it again. I had clearly lost that argument. “I’m going for a walk,” I managed to say through the awkward silence.
Without further ado I left the house, thankful that the cold winter air had hit my face and coat. The cold air gave me an excuse for watery eyes at least. I went for a walk in the park and I trudged through the thin snow that had fallen overnight. My mind was completely overwhelmed with what was going on: my parents reactions, Cloudchaser and I not being able to be together romantically anymore, anger at myself for getting caught. In the end it wasn’t Cloudchaser’s fault, it was my fault for pushing her to intimacy while mum and dad were home, my fault for getting caught and my fault Cloudchaser was now angry and upset.
I stopped at a park bench, powered in fresh snow. I brushed the snow off with my left wing and climbed onto it. I lay on my belly as I watched the fillies and colts play in the powdery snow, not a care in the world. One earth pony colt made a snow angel, the brown grass below became exposed, contrasting against the snow. As he got up a sunshine yellow unicorn filly used her magic to throw a snowball at him which burst against the side of his head. Dazed, he picked up a snowball and threw one back. I imagined when Cloudchaser and I used to play in winter. When we were little we had snowball fights all the time, made snowponies and made snow angels too. But we hadn’t done that since we were about twelve.
Now as adults we had the weight of the world on us, unlike the children playing in the park who had nothing on their mind but fun. “Hey Flitter, what are you doing out here?”
“Huh what?” I asked confused, my train of thought broken. The voice came from Cloudchaser who had landed behind the park bench.
“Oh yeah,” I sighed. “I had to get out of the house; mum’s unbearable at the moment.”
Cloudchaser rolled her eyes. “They’re acting like we killed somepony.” Cloudchaser paused and shook her head. “Want to go and get a coffee?” she asked.
“Yeah why not,” I responded getting up from the cold bench. “I could do with a caffeine hit.” Cloudchaser nodded and spread her wings but I held her shoulder; “Can’t we just walk?”
“Okay... I guess,” Cloudchaser responded.
“You know we don’t have to fly everywhere don’t you?” I asked of Cloudchaser. “It’s the first day of winter,”
“Are you eating those mushrooms again, Flitter?” she asked seriously, “What’s so good about white fluff?”
“No,” I growled with a scowl, “I like winter.”
Cloudchaser laughed, “C’mon Flitters.” Cloudchaser leaped into the air and soared high above the ground. I spread my wings and followed suit. The park shrank as I rose, reducing the foals in the playground to little ants. The temperature had dropped considerably from ground level and I couldn’t help but shiver. “Flitter, why didn’t you bring a coat?” Cloudchaser inquired, “it’s cold.”
“I d-didn’t expect to be flying,” I said through chattering teeth. My wings joints were stiff from cold but as we were at height I didn’t have to move them much. We dropped altitude to a more comfortable level and flew into town together. We landed on the main street of Ponyville, our hooves touched down on the cold cobble stone street, powered lightly in fresh snow. Ponies were out and about on their weekend shop, some carrying saddlebags laden with winter food or else getting ready for Hearth’s Warming Eve. “Wow it’s busy,” Cloudchaser observed. “Hearth’s Warming Eve is still three weeks away.”
“That’s not long,” I replied raising an eyebrow as we walked down the street. “I mean, not including the gifts, there are ponies still busying all their decorations and dry food.”
“I guess,” Cloudchaser murmured as we were pushed together between a stallion and a mare on the busy street. “Over here Flitter,” Cloudchaser beckoned towards a space on the side of the street where there was less traffic and we pushed through to that area. “This is ridiculous,” Cloudchaser growled but I was hardly listening to her. I was transfixed on the posters inside a window displaying houses and flats for sale and rent. “Flitter? Are you even listening to me?”
I pushed my hoof onto her cheek without looking and pushed it into the window. “Don’t you see it CC?” I asked with my heart racing with the sheer brilliance of my idea.
“A bunch of houses for sale, so what?” Cloudchaser shrugged. “Let’s get some cof-“
“No,” I gasped. “We could rent a house, get out of mum and dad’s place and live away from them. Free to…”
“Yeah,” Cloudchaser sighed. “Not for two hundred bits a week,” Cloudchaser sneered glancing at the first house she saw.
“No this one is one hundred and fifty,” I said glancing at her, I said excitedly with a hoof on the window of a double story townhouse. “That’s what I’m earning now.”
“And we have no work for three months of the year Flitter,” Cloudchaser sighed. “You also have study to pay for too,”
“That’s fine, we can discuss it later,” I said with a smile. “Let’s get some coffee now,”

After a fight through the crowd we managed to squeeze into Coco’s Coffee Shop. It was busy but at least we weren’t’t jammed together on the street.
After ordering our coffees we sat by the window in silence. I knew what Couldchaser was thinking, our twin telepathy told me as such. “You’re thinking about moving out too aren’t you?” I queried uncertainly, just in case my hunch was wrong.
Cloudchaser nodded and stared out the window. Cloudchaser looked worried and scared, one of the few times I’ve seen her looking so vulnerable. It was most unlike Cloudchaser to show any sign of insecurity.
We sat in silence as we drank our coffee and it was quite clear that Cloudchaser did not want to talk. A few times I would open my mouth but each time I did so Cloudchaser moved closer to the window.
I took another sip of coffee and sat it on the table. “What’s wrong CC?” I asked finally.
Cloudchaser shook her head for a reply.
I sighed. “What’s wrong?” I asked louder. “You can’t seriously be sulking because of this.”
“I don’t want to move out,” Cloudchaser said without looking at me. “I’m not ready.” Cloudchaser continued to stare out the window.
“Why aren’t you ready? We are more than ready,” I said exasperated. “This is us being together, think about it.”
“I’m not going to,” Cloudchaser snapped. “We don’t need to leave home yet.”
“So you’re going to what exactly?” I snapped. “Yeah let’s just put everything on hold because you’re worried about moving out. I’m more than happy to pick up a job in winter, I’m doing this because I love you Cloudchaser.”
Cloudchaser shook her head and my heart constricted.
My eyes began to water. “I thought you loved me CC,” I sobbed silently. “Don’t you want to live with me?”
“It’s not that Flitter,” Cloudchaser said quickly, clearing trying to now avert a situation. “I don’t want to leave mum and dad either.”
“W-we can still live in Ponyville,” I cried, “Mum and Dad are still up the road.”
“Flitter,” Cloudchaser said extending her hoof to mine. “I don’t want to move.”
I retracted my hoof from hers. “I thought you loved me,” I growled. “I thought we were inseparable.” My voice was rising and we were starting to attract some attention from the other patrons.
“We are Flitter,” Cloudchaser whispered trying to keep me quiet while attempting not to draw any more attention to us.
“Then why won’t you move with me?” I cried softly.
“I- Flitter,” Cloudchaser started, clearly trying to find an answer without answering.
I stood up. “I don’t care!” I roared banging a hoof on the table as white hot rage flowed through me. “You won’t even speak to me, you won’t even share your feelings with me. How is this going to work?”
“Flitter,” Cloudchaser whispered but the damage was done. The whole coffee shop was staring at us.
“What are you looking at?” I snapped at the stallion ogling at me. He looked away and I shook my head and with many eyes on me I stormed out of the parlor and took off into the sky. The cold wind whistled in my ears and tears of anger streamed from my eyes as I flew.
Stupid Cloudchaser, I thought savagely. It’s like she has the emotional range of a teaspoon, too proud to share her emotion or thoughts with me. I shook my head. I knew Cloudchaser was feeling guilty but I was too angry to care. It’s her fault after all and she should wear the emotional burden.
I dropped altitude and wanting to land to get out of the cold, I saw a nice spot on a bluff that overlooked a large lake. I landed lightly underneath an evergreen about five meters from the edge. It was just dirt beneath the tree as not enough snow had yet fallen to permeate the leaves of the tree. I sighed heavily and steam poured from my mouth.
All I could hear was the wind from here and the whistling of the air against the nettles of the tree above me. I looked across the bluff which rose towards the cliff and Canterlot could be seen perched on the mountain many kilometers away. It brought back memories of when I was there with Cloudchaser not too long ago. As angry as I was with her, I still half wished she was here to talk my ear off, I’d probably just tell her to shut up and listen to the wind anyway.
I got up and walked over to the edge of the cliff, leaving fresh hoof prints in the inch thick snow. The wind was powerful here, it whipped through my mane and carrying with it was the strong smell of winter. I looked down at the frozen lake below; the wind blew fresh snow across the ice in waves. I sighed again, mind back on Cloudchaser, the pony I loved. All this complication was all a result of our odd relationship, a relationship that had been forged together with her. One that nopony would understand. I shook my head, tears threatening to burst from my eyes again. “What’s wrong with me!?” I roared over the howl of the wind. My voice echoed a few times through the valley. I shook my head, disbelieving in the life I had chosen to live. I loved Cloudchaser, as my sister and as a lover but that was so much to take in, my feelings were just all over the place.
Something warm touched my flank. “Boo.” I jumped a thousand miles into the air, my stomach lodging in my throat and suddenly the cliff face of which I was standing fell away from under my hooves. It took me a second to realise I was falling towards the surface of the frozen lake and the moment I had extended my wings to avoid the fall. My hooves hit the surface of the lake and with a crack like a bullet the ice broke and I was plunged into the deep icy water. The water soaked into my coat and feathers, the ice like needles against the skin. I opened my eyes; I was in an underwater world, blurry reeds danced about from the disturbance of the water and bubbles formed from my landing. I looked up and I could see no hole where I landed, all I could see was a blurry white mat. Heart pounding and lungs sore I swam to the surface and met the ice. I punched the ice with a hoof and the bang reverberated through the water but the ice did not give, I hammered again at the ice and nothing happened. I tried a third, fourth and fifth time and it was clear the ice was too thick to break.
I began to panic as bubbles bubbled from my nose and collected beneath the ice. I was going to drown. I began to hammer again at the ice, I banged it as my life depended on it. It still did nothing but I did see a dark shape appear above me, a pony shape. I banged it again the get the attention of the pony but the shadow vanished. I let more air out to release some of the pressure on my lungs that were screaming out for air.
I heard something else plunge into the water and I let the remaining air out as my lungs failed to keep the air inside and I began to sink. I felt something grab me around the waist and I was pulled by something towards the surface. Suddenly I found myself coughing, shivering and gasping for air on the freezing ice. “Flitter, Flitter are you okay?” I felt somepony pull me into a hug, our wet coats touched. It was Cloudchaser, only she has that smell, that touch and I could tell because I had a special connection to my elder sister that nopony ever had.
Cloudchaser released me and I dropped to the ice, unable to stand. “Flitter!” My stomach turned over and I vomited water. My vision swam for a moment and then I passed out.
* ** ** ** *
I stirred, sick and cold. “Eurgh,” I moaned. I coughed and opened my eyes; it was dark. “Cloudchaser?” I asked the darkness. Panic quickly spreading into my chest which was covered by Cloudchaser’s jacket.
“Flitter!” came a relieved voice from the dark void. My panic drained. Cloudchaser came into view; her wings and mane were crusted with ice. “Flitter I am so sorry,” Cloudchaser cried pulling me into a hug and planting a kiss on my lips. “I didn’t mean for this to happen. I thought you had drowned.”
“I thought I had too,” I said softly. “Where are we?” was my first question.
“We’re in a cave,” Cloudchaser sighed. “There’s a blizzard outside and we can’t fly with our quills crusted in ice or with you unconscious. I’m just glad that you’re okay.”
“Thanks for saving me,” I mumbled. “I shouldn’t have flown away.”
“No,” Cloudchaser whinnied. “I shouldn’t have scared you when you were on the edge of a cliff. I wouldn’t know what I would do if I had lost you Flitter.”
“I shouldn’t have been so close to the edge,” I argued weakly.
“You wouldn’t have been there if I wasn’t so stubborn,” Cloudchaser sighed. “It’s my fault Flitter.”
I looked through the gloom into Cloudchaser’s eyes. ”Don’t be sorry,” I said weakly. “I’m okay, but I’m cold.”
“Yeah me too,” Cloudchaser said shivering slightly. “But we can’t move till tomorrow.” Cloudchaser shifted and she lay next to me. I lay back down on the ground next to her, our bodies touching slightly to share the body heat. “Mum and Dad are probably freaking out about now,” Cloudchaser whispered.
“Yeah probably,” I muttered. “Wish I was at home though.”
“Yeah me too Flitter,” Cloudchaser agreed smiling warmly at me. “Just hope we don’t freeze to death in this place.”
I nodded. “We’ll be fine.”
