Chapters A New Damnation
The frightened Marston family awaits solution in their barn, the only thing that separates them from the full fury of the US Army and Bureau agents. Quickly thinking, John unties the reins from a hitch in the barn and leads a chestnut brown stallion out of his stable.
"Hey c'mon, Jack, darlin' get on this horse. Get out of here. Go find a place to hide." John said as he helped his son Jack onto the horse.
"You're comin' with us pa!" Jack said.
"Ill catch up." John said as he helped his wife onto the horse.
"You keep ridin' and don't look back, and dont be worrying about me, you hear?" He said adjusting his hat
"Now get going!"
"You stay out of trouble, John." His wife said holding her hand down to him.
"Ain't no trouble Abigail, ain't no trouble." He said taking her hand as she leaned down, the two sharing a passionate kiss.
"I love you.."
"I love you..now go, Git!" John smacked the hind quarters of the horse, the horse let out a noise of objection before trotting out the opened back doors of the barn. Carrying Abigail and Jack away from the impending destruction of the Marston family. John watched as the horse trotted away, taking in a breath, contemplating the fact he would not be seeing them again.
He turned around and began to walk towards the other side of the barn, he gently pushed one of the doors to peer through its cracks, to see what challenge awaited outside. What he saw was a mixture of men in formal suits, and men in uniform. Armed with Springfield Rifles, Winchester Repeaters, High-powered Pistols or Colt Revolvers. John stepped back, taking in a deep breath before pushing open both doors, walking outside he stared death directly in the face.
John observed the posse of men only around 15 feet away from him. Quickly grabbing his Cattlemen's Revolver and firing at whoever dared threatened him. 4 shots landed, 4 men dropped before the rest began to open fire on John, the mixture of high and low firepower tore through his body. He stood before them, bleeding, coughing with bloody gargled breaths. His legs buckled as he fell to his knee's, slowly falling on his back and slipping away into the cold abyss of death.
Edgar Ross lifted his gun up, smirking in the most cocky of manors before he and the rest of the men began to walk away. Leaving the Marston Ranch as murderers, glorified murderers is what they were. Off in the distance, Abigail and Jack could here the gunshots, filled with worry, Jack turned the horse around and set course for home.
When they arrived, passing the bodies of dead agents and soldiers who John and Uncle had killed in an earlier fight. They arrived at the barn, what they found all but shattered their hearts. Laying lifeless in a puddle of blood, Jack looked at his father, turning pale from the shock. Abigail dismounted the horse and ran to his side, fumbling to her knees and crying over the body of her beloved and now deceased husband. John Marston was dead, or so it would seem...
His eyes began to open, slowly as the blinding sun greeted his eyes with a bright white light. John tried to pick himself up but he felt pain, "Grraah! Ahhh! Dammit to hell.." He got on his side, his vision began to adjust and he quickly realized..he wasn't at his ranch, wasn't anywhere that he knew actually. The grass was too green to be the Great Plains, not enough tree's to be Tall Tree's..Everything else LOOKED different too!
John struggled to his feet, the pain seemed to fade as minutes passed by. "Where the hell did those bastards dump me.." He looked around, the rolling green hills, beautiful oak tree's and flowers all around. Wherever he was it sure was nice, that was for sure. He began to walk around, although this place was nice..his family is all that John cared about. Some of the local wildlife began to show themselves, typical things such as bunnies, birds, squirrels. The usual stuff, not a person in sight though.
"Hey c'mon! we're gonna be late!" Some female voice called out.
"I'm coming, i'm coming!" Another female voice said.
"Uhh..E-Excuse me miss?! Miss! I need your help!" John called out, he began to walk around more frantically trying to find the source of the voice. He began to run when the sound of hoofs trotting against the ground. John ran over to a small pathway to catch a glimpse of ...Ponies? Th-They were ponies right? Really weird colored ponies though..
"What in the?.." John stood there in absolute confusion, one of those ponies was a really weird color of green, the other was white. They were way too small to be ridden, who was talking?..the ponies? No no no that's impossible. John however wanted to know where they were going, so he ran down the path following them.
After a few minutes something flew over him, when he looked up to see what it was, John tripped over his own feet from the shock. A flying pony, this pony had WINGS and was FLYING. That's impossible, this was a dream..it had to be, none of this is possible!
Just when he thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. Another oddly colored pony with a horn could be seen running into a town off in the distance. John literally had to sit down and think about how he felt about this. He had no idea where he was and he didn't like it one bit. None of it was natural.
After coming to terms with the fact that he had just seen two mythical creatures, John decided he'd go find the folks of this seemingly nice looking town. He wasn't use to walking into town though, normally he'd ride in on his noble steed. When he saw the sign that said 'Welcome to Ponyville!' on it, he began to get a dim thought that maybe...Just maybe there are no people around.
The town was empty, not a person nor pony in sight. "Hello?..Hello is anyone here?!" He walked around hoping someone would respond, but no one did. John continued to walk through this empty town, he was taking in the sights. It looked like nothing back in New Austin.
"What the hell is all this?.." Nothing added up, an empty town, colorful ponies and flying horses and unicorns. John clearly recalled dying but he wasn't sure if this was heaven, hell or something in between. There were no streets of gold and people with wings..thats what he was told heaven was like anyway. No fire and a guy with a pointy tail and piss poor attitude, he could of got that back with Dutch.
John noticed a particularly tall tower off in the distance, might as well go see what it is. Maneuvering his way through the town he made his way to the tower. When he got to it, a banner that was hanging from one of its balcony's caught his eye. "Welcome princess celestia?...well that ain't no princess i've heard about..the hell kinda name is celestia anyhow!" This place was just too confusing.
"Maybe there is someone in there who can help me.." John walked up the little stairway, onto the deck and up to its double doors. Pushing them open, what he found in there though was not what he was expecting..
A massive herd of ponies was in this building, staring at larger pony who was laughing manically. It was surprisingly dark in this building, strange looking ponies with bat wings and fangs dropped to the ground, scaring many of those in the herd and scaring John..
Acting on instinct he reached for his revolver, pulling it from his holster and aiming it at one of these demon horses. He squeezed the trigger, the gun discharged and one of these vampire things dropped to the ground dead, with a bullet in its head. Ever single pony in the room turned to the mysterious creature standing just at the doorway, aiming some sort of metal thing at the dead pony.
"Foul beast!" The pony who only moments ago was laughing said. "You will pay for interfering with my grand entrance!"
"I don't know who or what you are but i ain't scared of you!" John shouted in retaliation.
"Simple minded and uneducated, how lovely. No matter...It will still be nighttime forever!" She laughed some more before vanishing in some large cloud of smoke.
"Stupid talkin' horse with your fancy magic tricks!" John said as he turned and walked towards the door.
"Stop right there!" Someone shouted.
John turned around to see a purple unicorn walk out from this herd, or crowd or whatever the hell they would call it. It was clearly a she, he could tell by the voice. She looked at him with extreme interest, looking at the revolver in his hand then to the pony he shot. "What are you?..." She said titling her head to the right.
"Im a person, better question is what are you?" He said gesturing.
"Me? My name is Twilight Sparkle.." She said trying to gain composure. "What is your name?"
"Marston, John Marston..look i don't know where i am i woke up in some field outside this town, i need to get back to my family."
"Maybe i can help you, but you need to help me with something.."
"And what exactly is that?" John looked kinda frustrated, was getting sick of doing all these different tasks.
"Follow me." Twilight trotted out of the building, John followed leaving all these ponies to contemplate what just happened.
As they walked to wherever twilight was taking them, she tried to make conversation.
"What are you again? A person?" She said.
"Yeah y'know, a person. a uh..uh human!" He said looking around.
"I thought those were only myths.."
"Funny, where i come from unicorns are myths."
"Well.." she paused. "I don't know what world you're from, but lets get you back there."
They walked into a tree house, literally a house built into a tree of all things. Doesn't seem safe to John yet nether was his criminal lifestyle. "You live in a tree?" He said in an shocked yet also interested manor.
"Yes, isn't that normal for your kind?"
"Uh, not really we live in houses. Regular houses."
Twilight shook her head a bit, "Oh dear Celestia..you are very strange."
"The talking purple unicorn thinks im strange.." John said jokingly.
"The tall talking slender thing thinks IM strange.." They both managed to share a laugh.

The quest for the elements.
"So uh, how exactly do you plan to stop this uh..." John snapped his fingers trying to remember. "Nightmare moon?"
"The legend said that she must be defeated with something called the elements of harmony.."
"Elements of wha?..." John look dumbstruck.
"Elements Of Harmony...ancient artifacts used to defeat her the first time..but I have no clue where to begin looking for them!" Twilight grew frustrated as she struggled to think.
"Well these books may be a good place to start.." John said pointing to the shelves.
"that sounds like a plan.."
Twilight began searching books for the possible whereabouts of the elements, John was kind enough to assist, even though he could barely read. He had yet to mention, he was rather illiterate. They both began to grow annoyed and frustrated as they searched book after book. Twilight soon began yanking them off the shelves in groups just to speed things up.
"Ohhh elements, elements elements!" she repeated to herself.
"How am i to stop nightmare moon without the elements of harmony!"
"And just what are the elements of harmony?!" Rainbow dash said as she appeared from nowhere, she then changed directions and got in Johns face. "And what were you doing at town hall?! Just what the heck are you anyway?"
"I did not think my day would involve gettin' yelled at by a flyin' blue pony that can talk.."
"And whats that suppose to mean?!"
She was yanked away by Applejack who pulled her away by the tail.
"Simmer down sally." She said.
"Thank you kindly ma'am" John said, tipping his hat to Applejack who tipped hers in turn.
"Do you know exactly whats going on twilight?"
She paused for a moment, taking in a deep breath "I read all about the prediction of nightmare moons return, the only way to stop her is with the elements of harmony, but i have no idea where to begin to look for them!"
Pinkie pie's voice was next to take part in this discussion "The elements of harmony, a reference guide"
Twilight slammed into Pinkie, knocking her out of the way as she stared at the book. "How did you find it?"
"It was under E!" Pinkie pie sang as she hopped around.
John just stood there awkwardly. "So where in tarnation are we looking?"
"Hold your horses" Applejack commented.
"My horses are back at the farm..." John muttered under his breath, he then decided to reach for a cigarette and match as twilight read aloud where they are to go. He didn't really listen, but he did hear twilight snap at him for trying to smoke in a library, he than thought to himself smoking inside a giant hollow tree full of books would be the stupidest thing he's ever done.
"So uh, we all good to go?"
"Yes." Twilight turned to the others. "But uh, i have one request if you dont mind?"
"And that is?" John put his hands on his hips.
"Keep that weapon to yourself mister, Celestia knows what'll happen if you use it again.
John gave a smartass remark. "Id be using another bullet is what would be happening."
"Now is not the time to make jokes!" Rainbow exclaimed.
"Dont be silly!" Pinkie pie hopped all around with a smile. "Jokes are good at any time!"
Rainbow gave an annoyed look then said in a flat voice "What about at a funeral?"
"Silly! Ive sent crying ponies home laughing at funerals! Jokes are good anytime!"
John couldn't help but chuckle, this was one fucked up dream. If it was a dream anyway. Eventually they all left and headed for the Everfree forest, the girls seemed intimidated at the sight of it but John thought Tall tree's was scarier then this place.
