My Little Raptor

I yawned, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I only sleep for five hours a day, so, I listened to my IPhone, playing music while I waited. I looked up to see another type of Raptor look at me, it's light green scales, with a white stripe and black on the top.

It's eyes were like a snake's eyes. Once I spotted it, it ran away.

The door opened right after to show-surprise, surprise-Celestia, and she wanted to talk.

"Listen, Dart. One of the guards today was found dead with bite marks and claw marks all over it. Luna said that you and your friends were in your rooms at the time, so you couldn't have done it. We want you to find out what did." She stated simply, worry etched over her voice.

Look, she controlled the fucking moon and sun for a thousand years. Why can't she just-you know what, I'm bored as Hell.

"I'll take it. But if any of your guards try to attack me, I won't think twice about defending myself. Don't worry, I won't hurt them...too much." I said, making her nod.

I was about to leave, but I looked at the three female raptors, F, M, and Z, and quickly nuzzled them. I then started to walk with Celestia, and she started to explain what happened.

"Lulu and I" Pfffttt...Lulu. "were walking when we spotted some blood. After we followed the trail of it, we found the body of the guard. I was shocked, and so was Luna. So, we told the guards to be on high alert for a dragon of some kind. Knowing it wasn't a dragon, we decided to check on a expert of creatures like you." Celestia explained.

"I wouldn't call myself a expert. More like a person with more than average knowledge about dinosaurs. Thanks for the compliment though." I said, seeing some guards glare at me. "Get back to your stations, soldiers! You're not supposed to be here! Quit standing around, and look for a dragon!"

They quickly scrambled away, making the Alicorn chuckle. Military did come in handy these days. "Anyway, we'll show you the body, and hope you won't eat it." Celestia said.

We got out of the castle, then entered the garden.

"I eat meat and plants. I'm a omnivore. I could go on for months without meat. Plus, where I come from, we don't eat ponies, or horses of any kind for that matter." I informed, only to look down, and see a body.

"Scratch patterns of a predator. Bite marks similar in size of a Utahraptor. Large claws, meaning for hunting prey. Bite marks at the neck area, either to snap this guards neck of choke him to death."

"Back legs bloody and gashed, meaning it was nipping at his legs for a while, to take his main defense down." I said, looking over the body.

"Large gashes at the chest area, so either he bleed out or died from shock. Some parts of his body are gone, such as the front right forelimb, most likely a meal for the predator." I said, examining the body some more. I then saw a tooth imbedded into the corpse skull, and plucked it out.

"Tooth medium in size, but very sharp. Most likely a meter or two meters high predator. Walks on two legs, bites fast and accurate. If you ask me, this is the deal of a Novaraptor."

"They're probably one of the deadliest kinds of raptors around. Not only that, but you may have a pack. Judging by the footprints, they were stalking him for a while, trying to find the weakest parts of his body, and to see his strengths as well. They must've snuck up behind, judging by the ways he's facing. He didn't see them coming."

I sniffed the air, then looked at Celestia. "Three females, two males. The males are young, and are new to the pack. The females either hunted this guy for the males, or the males did this to impress the females.

"You could see this with lions too. The females chase the prey, usually to the jaws of the males."

I looked at the ground, seeing foot prints. "Guy must've put up a fight, he injured one of them, judging by the way it's limping, and there's blood on the ground, and it's not his." I looked up to see Celestia, and more than a group of guards staring at me, most of the guards were slack jawed. "What?"

"Well, can you track them?" Celestia asked once she returned to her stoic face.

"No, I can't track them. But, they can't resist one thing, and we can use that as a trap." I said, then she looked at me with a confused gaze."

"They're carnivores. The only way they would abandon their meal if a larger predator was nearby, or more of their prey was around. So, if they think that they can come back for a bigger meal, what would it most likely be?"

She looked at me with a shocked gaze. "So, you're saying we have to lure them out with...dead animals?" She looked disgusted.

"Law of the jungle. You eat, or get eaten. In this case, they're the hunters, and we're the hunted. But, if we turn that around, and trap them, we may have an advantage."

"Not only that, but I have a feeling that there are more of them." I said, shrugging like it was nothing.

"What makes you say that?" She asked, but I simply looked up, seeing eight Novaraptors staring at us from the roof. They roared at me, but I gave a bark like call, and the ground started to shake.

Noah came out of the doors, growling. He followed my gaze, and noticed the Novaraptors. Seeing them, he roared, gaining their attention. They started to back away, seeing the large Carnotaurus.

"Come at me bro!" Noah yelled, but the Novaraptors ran away, their tails disappearing from view.

"Any more stupid questions?" I asked, looking around. After a moment, no one said anything. "No? Good. Now, you might want to stay in a group. These creatures tend to hunt lone prey." I said, the guards running off to spread the word.

Noah looked at me quizzically, but I gave a series of growls, and he nodded, going back inside.

"So, what about the trap?" Celestia asked me.

"We need bait. Something small, but fast. Long legs too, but as big as a pony." I said, thinking about it. Some guards that stayed to protect Celestia looked at me. So did Celestia. I looked at myself, and grumbled. "Fuck muffins." I said, facepalaming as I realized they were going to use me as bait.

"Get it over with." I said, then, I got knocked out, darkness closing around my eyes.

When I woke up later, I saw the same Novaraptor I saw earlier that day right in front of me. Seeing I wasn't dead, she sniffed me, not knowing what I was.

"Fuck off, I already got three mates, don't need to add another." I growled out. Then, two more females showed up, eyeing me with...Lust. "Fuck berries." I muttered, getting up. I then noticed there were five females and three males, all of them staring at me.

"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" I yelled, running down the halls with five females trailing after me. I rounded the corner, and saw something that made me smile with joy.

I saw Cutter and Terry talking and ran between them.

"Hey lad, we're ya goin'?" Cutter asked, looking at me.

"Can't talk. Females chasing me! Haven't eaten!" I said through a tired breath.

I saw the female raptors turn around the corner and chase me again, ignoring the large predators I was friends with. I yelped, running again. I saw Terry and Cutter look down to see the female Novaraptors trailing after me.

"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!" I said, running past my room. Z, F, and M poked their heads out to see me pass by, then look back to see the female Novaraptors pass by too.

I rounded the corner, to see a marine reptile in a tank, I hid behind it. The females passed, then rounded the corner, thinking they were still chasing me. I got up, letting out a sigh. I saw the marine reptile look at me, snickering.

"Hi, my name's Dartagnen Drake Agundez. You can call me Dart. What's yours?" I introduced myself.

"My name's Ty." He said, giving me a toothy grin.

"Catchy name." I noted, smiling back. I can tell we were going to be great friends.
