The tale of Phantom, tricked by the gods and brought on Equestria as a mere tool in order to fight the established order that is embodied by the "Chess Game of the Gods".

Somewhere, on a tiny blue planet that lays in the middle of an universe, which lays in the middle of a vast cosmic ocean of realities; a young man once lived a life that wasn't really exceptional for someone born in the twentieth century.
That is to say, until an ancient god met him and asked him to be his champion in the "Chess Game of the Gods", a competition between divine entities where only the strongest and most vicious of heralds can win.
Unfortunately for the young man, the god who chose him seemed to have rather unusual objectives centered around the Game's very nature.
