Here we go, I guess

Hmm, where do I begin? Should I give you an introduction of sorts? Or do I just jump right into the action? While jumping right to it would be way more fun, I think it would be better if you got a full introduction. So anyways, lets begin.
My name is Electric Boogaloo.... just kidding. My actual name is Volt. I am of the Pegasus species of equine, and I have a blue coat with a dark blue mane. I come from a long line of Pegasus that were all wonderbolts, so I was kind of a naturally talented flier. My sister, Bright Spot on the other hand was a prodigy, or so my parents said. That was to be expected though, flying was in our blood, success was in our genes. Well, maybe their genes, since I never quite lived up to the potential that my family had expected me to. Despite that, I was special. My cutie mark. It's 2 thunderbolts pointing down. One white, one black. Here's the thing though, I don't really know how exactly I got it, but I do know what preceded the event.
It was a day, a nice summer day. Well, nice for almost everyone else, I was sulking over the fact that I had failed my flight test. Something my parents were definitely not happy about.
"Are you kidding me? You are supposed to be better than this! Look at your sister, she's a year younger than you and she's already graduated!" Said my father, he clearly looked displeased.
"I'm sorry," It was all I could muster, as I took more of the verbal assault by my dad.
"Maybe you should let up on him a bit dear?" My mother asked.
"No! The boy needs to be disciplined, he's gonna be a future wonderbolt one day!" At that moment, I felt like I had to say something...
"What if I don't want to become a wonderbolt?" I asked. For a short moment, silence had befell the room. My mother looked at me, slightly worried.
"Go to your room," Father said.
"Why?"
"Just. Do it." Seeing the anger on his face, and not wanting to deal with that, I quickly ascended to my room.
Shortly after reaching my room, I heard yelling, something that was probably a shouting match between my mother and father. My sister wasn't home at the moment. Conveniently enough, she was at a sleepover with her friends, so she wouldn't be back until at least the afternoon. The yelling has gone on and on. I really hated my parents, seeing as I couldn't stand it, I decided to take a fly somewhere, at least. Until the home calmed down. Little did I know, the choice to leave, would change my life forever.
As I can recall, it had been at least a mile I had been flying, and the skies got more and more gray as I went along. I hear a clap of thunder. Which for Pegasi, means stop flying. Despite that, I continue on. The next thing I know, a flash of light, my body going through serious pain, then everything just going....well.... black.
I wake up. There's a light shining on my face, my head is on a pillow, and I am on a very comfortable bed. The first thing I notice is that my body is wrapped in bandages, my wings being fully covered by them. There's a unicorn in a white suit looking at a clipboard, and that's when I realize that I am in a hospital. The moment of that realization is when I was almost tackled off my bed, red strands of hair obstructing my view, but the red hair undoubtedly belonged to my sister, Bright Spot.
"Are you okay? You aren't hurt are you? Me, mom, and dad all came as soon as we heard the news," My sister had said. The very next thing she noticed was what was adorned on my flank.
"What's that? A scar?" She said as she started to pick at it, "No... wait, this is a cutie mark! Congratulations! What do you think It means"?
I was about to reply when the Doctor decided to chime in.
"Do you mind keeping quiet for a bit? As what I'm about to say is something that must be heard," the Doctor said, Bright Spot had immediately piped down.
"Volt, was it? You see, I have no idea what's going on, I mean, it's a miracle. Ponies, especially Pegasi don't survive being struck by lightning," said the Unicorn. "All your injuries have been caused by you crashing into what used to be a tree, which luckily for you, had broken your fall, and saved your life," The doc continued, "I must ask you, were you doing anything usual before being struck by lightning?"
"I was flying," I replied.
"Then I must say, you are one extremely lucky Pegasus, as flying while being struck by lightning only furthers the chances of death"
At this point, everyone in the room, including myself, had their jaw slacked.
After a moment, the unicorn doctor continued on "You would have died for certain if Rarity hadn't found you and brought you here,"
"Who?" I replied.
"Rarity, she had to go back to the Carousel Boutique to open up shop for the day, that's where you need to go if you want to thank her in person, but for now. You need to rest up for a few days and regain your strength,"
"I understand," I reply once more.
My family says their goodbyes, and school will allow to retake the test once I get better. Now, lets fast forward a week later. My injuries were mostly healed up, except my wings, which still needed a cast, thus I couldn't fly. Once I was released from the hospital, there was really only one thing I wanted to do, and that was thank the pony who had saved my life. I had already known I was in Ponyville, thanks to being inside Ponyville hospital for the past week. I had been to the small town a bunch of times before. Ponyville usually had the best places to have Pegasus races, so I was very familiar with the area, and I knew where I was headed.
Once I was at the Carousel Boutique, I had knocked on the door, and when it opened, I saw one of the most beautiful mares I have ever laid my eyes on.
"Welcome to the Carousel Boutique! Where I, Rarity, make Ponyville's most fabulous dresses and formal attire!" After the introduction, Rarity immediately recognized me.
"Oh my, it's you. How do you feel darling? Are you alright? Rarity asked.
"I feel fine, Rarity. My wings just need a cast for the next day or two," I said, "Listen, I wanted to thank you for bringing me to the hospital, you really saved my life. Truly, thank you."
"Why it was nothing, I mean, I can't leave someone in the rain to die, you know?"
"Heh, yeah, but that also leads to my next question." I nervously shifted in the admittedly comfy couch I was sitting on.
"Ask away, dear," Rarity replied.
"You see, since I can't fly, I have no way of going back to my home in Cloudsdale, so I was wondering If I could stay with you?" I prepared for the verbal bashing Rarity was about to give me, but I was stunned at her reply.
"Sure"
"Oh, okay, I understand." As I started to head for the door...
"Wait...what?" I looked at Rarity, stunned by her reply.
"You heard, of course you can stay here, after all, I am the element of generosity," Rarity beamed.
The next couple of days went by normally, Rarity spent most of those days making clothing for her patients, and I spent them watching television. After my wings healed, I once again said goodbye to Rarity, and headed back to Cloudsdale. The trip back to Cloudsdale was really uneventful, all I could think about was that incident with the lightning, and why I wasn't dead, and little did I know. The event with the lightning would change my life forever.
