“Fluttershy, we need to talk.” a little yellow pegasus filly with a pink mane walked carefully into the room to see her parents at the kitchen table. “Please Fluttershy, have a seat and talk with us.” Fluttershy walked into the kitchen with her head down, then sat down in the chair trying to avoid eye contact. “Fluttershy, your father and I have been talking.” Fluttershy just kept looking down at the table. “We all know you’re not the best flier in the world, but we want you to at least try getting out there. You almost never use your wings. You don’t have any friends. This is just a thought but we want to sign you up to the Junior Speedster Flight School over in West Cloudsdale.” Fluttershy quickly looked up in shock, “It’s no need to rush, just go out for a walk around Cloudsdale.”
“Okay...” Fluttershy got off of the chair, left the kitchen, and walked out the front door. She walked away from her house and started walking towards West Cloudsdale. “Oh, my parents are right. I am a weak flier. I do need friends. I don’t know if I can, I would just get too nervous. What would I say to them? Maybe I should go look for that Flight School. *sigh* I’ve never been good at making friends. What should I do?” Fluttershy looked down at the cloud streets, walking around a corner when suddenly, *SLAM*. Fluttershy flew through the air, stunned, wondering what just happened. She crashed down in the middle of the street. She saw another pony getting up and faintly heard her talking. “I am so sorry! That was --ult. I shoul--ing that fast, I trie--” Her vision began to blur, and she closed her eyes.
She had a flashback to an incident at a younger age. She was walking around Cloudsdale with her parents following closely behind, enjoying living. She looked over a cloud to see how beautiful the ground was from Cloudsdale. She kept looking out farther, and farther, and farther, until she lost her balance. She fell off the cloud. Scared out of her mind, her wings locked up. Her parents flew down and caught her as she was falling. Her parent’s carefully set her down on the cloud. Fluttershy lied down on the cloud, and began to cry. Suddenly, she snapped out of the flash back and she realized somepony was lifting her to her feet.
“--ere you go, you’ll be fine. I’m sorry about that, here let’s start over. My name is Rainbow Dash. What’s yours?”
Fluttershy opened her eyes and looked up at the other pony who was smiling at her. “Oh no,” she thought to herself, “What do I do?” She cringed up and ran away.
She could hear the faint voice of the other pony calling out to her. “Wait! I didn’t mean to scare you!” But Fluttershy just kept running.
“Oh, I’m such a scaredy cat. I’ll never make friends like this.” She kept running down the cloudy street, crying her eyes out.
Suddenly, a large dark-grey pony came up to Fluttershy, flying almost next to her. “Hey, slow down. I just wanna talk.” Fluttershy slowed down to a complete stop along with the other pony.
He was a large, dark-grey colt with a mane that resembled fire. He already had his cutie mark. It was two flames spinning together making a circle. He had flaming red eyes, but when you looked at him, he didn’t look like he was one who wanted to hurt someone, “What’s wrong, why are you crying?” He asked her.
“I-It's nothing, we just crashed into each other, it was all my fault. I’m wasting your time aren’t I? I should just get going.” She ran away from the cold, scared and intimidated.
“Wait!” he called out to Fluttershy, but she was long gone. Fluttershy ran through the front door of her house and quickly closed it behind her.
“Mom, dad. I um, think I made up my mind.” Her parents looked at her, anticipated for the answer. “I...um...would like to enroll in flight school. I mean, if that's okay with you...”
