A Love For Bass and Rainbows
Chapter 4
Previous ChapterNext ChapterMy hooves were covered in tears. They were dripping down my forearms and onto the floor below. "How could I have let this happen?" I asked myself. "I should've taken the chance and kissed her last night while she was in my arms!" I said, more angry with myself than sad. "Stupid, stupid, stupid Reflex!" I said as I hit myself in the head with my hooves. I wasn't sure what to do now, should I just sit here and sulk in my own sorrow? Or should I do something about this? Then the thought came to me. "That's it!" I yelled, I had just thought of something that might work.
Rainbow Dash was never one for sappy things, but what I had in mind, just might work! "I'll make her a kick ass Dubstep song! She loves my tracks!" I said aloud, then I thought, "Wait… These things take time, and what if by the time I'm done it's already to late?" As I thought about that I could feel the tears welling up again. I wasn't about to let myself cry again. No, not today. "I'll finish the song that I've been working on for months!" I exclaimed, "All that I need is a kick ass drop!"
I went to my laptop and turned it on. As soon as it woke, I went to my apps and opened up Logic Pro X, I pulled up the project I had been working on for months. "This is the song that was supposed to get me signed to Equestrian Records." I suddenly remembered. It didn't matter to me, I loved Dash to much to give up on this. I made a few changes and created a new track.
I must have fallen asleep in the studio, because when I awoke I had 6 missed calls from Dash, and a half finished bass drop for the song I was working on. I couldn't even remember what I had done for the drop. I moved the track to the beginning and pressed play, the song played through and reached the drop. A series of wet growls and distorted baselines played back…
I was still working on the drop when my phone rang. "Gee I wonder who that could be!" I said, a little annoyed as I picked up the phone. It was Dash, of course. I unlocked the phone and hit answer.
"Hello?" I said into the phone, expecting to hear Dash reply with some kind of remark about me ruining everything or some bullshit like that.
"Hi, Reflex." She said into the phone. She sounded, concerned. I immediately began to worry, thinking something was wrong. Before I got the chance to ask she spoke up again. "I was wondering if you wanted to come to sugarcube corner for some cupcakes with me and Soarin?"
I almost wanted to yell at her, but I didn't. It isn't her fault, this is all my fault for not telling her how I felt. I guess it would be a good opportunity. Maybe it will help me get over her. Or at least accept this whole thing.
"Sure, what time do you want to meet there?" I asked, trying to keep my cool.
"Around nine or so." She replied. I could just tell I was gonna make a mistake today. I pray that it's nothing bad.
"Ok I'll be there soon." I said as I looked up at the clock. Shit, it was 8:40. I barely have time to get ready. I sprinted for the shower and jumped in. Afterwards I dried off, grabbed some bits, and left for sugarcube corner.
I was able to walk to sugarcube corner, as I did not live that far away from it. I was in a bad mood, and still really depressed so I didn't feel like flying. I kept on having thoughts of Dash and Soarin together. The thought of them going off behind a building to make out or something just killed me inside. I kept trying to push thoughts like that out of my mind, but they just kept coming back.
I was about halfway to sugarcube corner when I looked up and saw the two flying together. I was stuck between becoming enraged, and just turning around and going home to cry again. No, I wouldn't give in. Before I left the house I had finished the song for her. I planned to tell her how much I love her while the song was playing.
