Chapter 11: The Big Leagues

It wasn’t until Luna’s moon rose up into the night sky that the huge Wonderbolt blimp made it’s way into the bustling city of Manehatten.

Dash had her face presses up against one of the port windows as she eagerly scanned the city below. Even though the city was basked in the darkened sea of the night, the city was a glowing beacon of light showing off its vast skyscrapers and monuments.

Soon the blimp started to descend into the giant city, within the many buildings a shining oval shaped buildings shone through the center of the city almost guiding the blimp into it’s center.

Meanwhile, Spitfire was still with Silver Skies as the pair discussed an important matter. Silver had been told by Blazing Fire and the others about Rainbow Dash and Spitfire. This posed a lot of worries for him.

Silver Skies looked towards a clearly aggravated Spitfire as he spoke, “Look, Spitfire, all I’m saying is you can’t be roaming around Manehatten without a care. If you get into trouble, or start fillyfooling around then we’ll all be held accountable,” he said, stating his point.

Spitfire though was having none of it. “With all do respect, Sir. You can’t just tell me when and where to do things with my marefriend, and I’m not going to stand back if she gets insulted... or even hurt,” she said folding her hooves.

Silver Skies sighed and nodded. “Okay, I understand that, Spitfire… but just remember for all our sakes that you keep this information on the down low, I don’t want you or any of the other team members gossiping about this in magazines or tabloids. But most importantly, I don’t want to see a picture of you and Dash causing trouble or anything of the sort,” he said, making his point clear.

Spitfire sighed, she knew Silver Skies was stating a good point… whether she liked it or not, her and Dash where famous mares in Equestria and they would for ever be made out to be like mentors. Plus, she knew this relationship would have a heavy sway on what ponies thought about the Wonderbolts and the mares themselves.

Reaching a decision Spitfire nodded. “I promise, Sir. I’ll make sure the team knows that too,” she said getting up and walking to the exit of the room.

Silver returned the nod. “Thank you, Spitfire, I know you're a good pony, but we just need to make sure none of this gets out in the open until we can be assured that it wouldn’t cause some sort of major problem.”

Spitfire held a small smile towards the stallion before she left the room and made her way down to the exit of the large blimp.

Spitfire walked out onto the large arena, which was even bigger than their home stadium. The large size would easily accommodate for the large number of fans that would be packing the stadium in the next few days, eager to see a performance.

Spitfire trotted into the main part of the stadium where all the team members were currently waiting with heavy saddlebags full of personal belongings. Spitfire motioned for the team to face her before speaking up, “Okay guys, I know this is a new city, but we need to keep our reputation up around here. Silver Skies is expecting nothing to be on the cover of Manehatten Daily. This includes anypony making out or face down in the gutter, are we clear?”

Everypony saluted to their captain. Spitfire nodded in approval before continuing, “Okay, our hotel is just a quick flight over Manehatten, we’ll be staying at the hotel Plaza,” she said.

Everypony nodded and Spitfire handed each pony a room key before the all made their way out of the stadium and into the large city.

Spitfire breathed in the thick air of the city streets and spread her wings reader to fly, but before she could a voice called for her, “Hey Spitfire wait up,” Dash said making her way out of the stadiums entrance and over to her marefriend.

Spitfire’s face glowed with happiness. “Hey Dash, is everything alright?” she asked happily.

Dash nodded. “Sure, it’s cool, soo are you heading to the hotel?” she asked rubbing her forehoof against the other hesitantly.

Spitfire nodded. “Sure am, by the way what room are you in?” she asked curiously.

Dash rummaged in her saddlebags before taking out a golden key with the number '100' engraved in the golden metal.

Spitfire grinned mischievously as she held out an identical key with the same number. Dash blushed slightly.

Spitfire giggled and shook her head playfully at the mare before flaring her wings again and took off. Dash quickly regained her lost composure before shooting off after the golden mare.

As the two mares soared over the night skies of Manehatten. Rainbow got to take more of a look at the bustling city itself, the large structures of the city dwarfed the earth and unicorn ponies below who were all currently on their routes home or to another big night in the city that was famous for never sleeping.

Dash looked back up to Spitfire who was currently flying slightly away from her to avoid the pair crashing in mid flight. Dash spoke up over the sound of the city below, “Hey Spitfire, you okay?” she asked seeing yellow mare’s face which seemed to be in deep thought.

Spitfire came back from her mind and looked over to her marefriend. “Oh, me? Yeah I’m...okay,” she said, turning back in front of her.

Dash nodded in understanding, but still pressed the issue further, “Is it what you and Silver were talking about?”

’How did she know it was to do with that?’ Spitfire thought to herself, astonished. She looked back to Dash. “It was just um… flight routines,” she said.

Dash deadpanned. “You were talking about us, weren’t you?” she said getting to the point.

Spitfire nodded sheepishly. “Yeah, you could say that. It’s just that Silver wants both you and me to keep this relationship to ourselves and the team…but I want to spend time with you. I don’t want to have to wait until the end of the day to hang out,” she said sadly.

Dash knew what Spitfire was meaning by this, she smiled comfortingly at the mare. “Hey, I’m sure we’ll find a way to have our own time together,” she said with a hopeful tone.

Spitfire smiled and leaned over, giving her marefriend a light kiss on the cheek. “You do always know how to cheer me up, Dash,” she said happily.

Dash nuzzled the mare back affectionately as they came up to the big hotel towering over the lower city of Manehatten. They landed just outside the steps to the building which was marked by a red carpet leading up to two large glass doors.

As the pair walked up to the hotel entrance they spotted a stallion stood next to the door. He smiled at the two ponies and opened the door gracefully letting the mares in.

Spitfire thanked the stallion as the walked into the vast hotel lobby which was lined with gold trimmings and lightings. In the center of the lobby was a large oak desk where a cream colored mare stood currently looking through a check list.

Spitfire lightly tapped the golden bell on the desk rousing the mare from her current distraction. She smiled happily. “What can I do for you fine ladies this evening?” she asked politely.

Spitfire returned the smile. “We’re here to pick up our reservation, it’s under Wonderbolt.”

The mare quickly put on her large glasses and looked behind her to find a book. She pulled out the book marked ‘reservations’ and opened it before scanning down the page with a hoof before finding the name. She looked back up at Spitfire, a happy smile on her face. “Yes, I expect you have the room keys already?”

Spitfire nodded and the mare smiled. “Great, well then I hope you have a pleasent stay madams the lift is right over there,” she said pointing to the golden doors at the far side of the lobby behind the desk.

Spitfire nodded and thanked the mare as she and Rainbow made there way over to the lift. Once they were in Spitfire looked at the numbers on the lifts hoofpad, Spitfire clicked the biggest number which matched the room key.

Rainbow looked at Spitfire with slight curiosity. “Wait...why is 100 the top number… I thought that was-”

“-The penthouse level,” Spitfire finished with a smirk as she turned to face her marefriend.

Rainbow was slightly taken back by this. “W-wait...the Wonderbolts didn’t pay for this room, did they?” she said.

Spitfire smiled mischievously. “Maybe...maybe not, but don’t try and thank me,” she said playfully.

Rainbow muffled a giggle and nodded in response, but she nodded approvingly to which Spitfire gave her a quick peck on the cheek before the elevator opened revealing the vast room in front of them.

Rainbow’s jaw nearly fell to the floor as Spitfire walked out of the lift and surveyed the room and it’s magnificent view of the city.

Dash cautiously made her way into the room as she too looked around at the luxurious apartment. She trotted over to the windows as she stared at amazement at the vast scenery, the stadium was just off in the distance where it seemed that some of the Wonderbolts were already practicing.

Spitfire sat down on the couch making Rainbow turn around at the noise, she looked over at Spitfire with a face full of happiness. Spitfire grinned as she held her wings and hooves out towards the mare whilst saying, “Come here you.”

Dash obliged and quickly trotted over into her marefriend’s embrace. Spitfire wrapped her wings round her as she spoke up, “Soo then, you want to do anything after training tomorrow?”

Rainbow pondered on the thought for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t know… what is there to do in this city?” she asked.

Spitfire grinned. “Well… we can do just about anything, do you want to go to the club tomorrow?” she asked hesitantly.

Rainbow smirked. “Sure why not… you ain't scared to go alone?” she asked playfully.

Spitfire’s amber eyes glinted at Rainbow’s tone of words. She smirked and flipped the sky blue mare onto the sofa as she laid down on top of her. “I wouldn’t say scared... more, depressed,” she stated.

Rainbow raised an eyebrow confusingly. “Why depressed?" she asked, keeping her playful yet curious tone.

Spitfire pouted playfully. “Because I wouldn’t be able to be with you,” she said while nuzzling into Rainbow’s neck, making the mare giggle uncontrollably.

Spitfire stopped to let the mare catch her breath. “So then, nightclub it is?” she said confidently.

Dash nodded in approval, Spitfire smiled and got up off the couch as she made her way towards the bedroom.

Dash looked up from the couch and spoke up, “Um… where am I sleeping tonight?” she asked.

Spitfire turned around and grinned. “Well… I’m afraid there’s only one bedroom,” she said, trying to act like something really bad had happened.

Dash giggled before Spitfire continued, “I guess we’re just going to have to share, aren't we?” she said with a wink, making Dash blush slightly.

Spitfire walked into the room leaving Dash to her own thoughts once again.

Dash sprawled out on the couch and lead her head so it was facing towards the city as she thought about what Spitfire had mentioned on the flight over here.

She knew it wouldn’t be easy to keep something like this under the radar, she knew both herself and Spitfire where very protective of each other even if they’d only been going out for just over a day. She could already tell as time went on that they would only become more close... and all it would take would be just one slip up and it would be all over Equestria within a matter of days.

Dash wanted to make sure she kept true to her marefriend’s word and to her element, she sighed happily knowing that this wasn’t going to be one of those half life flings. She knew deep in the regions of her heart that Spitfire cared for her, and she cared for Spitfire all the same.

With this thought in mind Dash smiled and got up as she trotted over to the bedroom in the large hotel room.

As she peered inside of the room she could see Spitfire already in the large bed currently writing something down in what looked like an old journal. She looked up and smiled when she saw the sky blue mare entering the room.

Dash smiled hesitantly, she was about to ask where to sleep when Spitfire patted the spot right next to her, Dash trotted over and cautiously got under the covers. Spitfire smiled and extended a wing as she pulled Dash closer to her body.

Dash smiled and snuggled closer to the mare, Spitfire put the book she was holding on the table beside her and turned off the light as they both snuggled together under the covers.

Spitfire leaned over slightly and kissed Dash on the muzzle, “goodnight Dashie,” she said with a yawn.

Dash smiled. “Goodnight Spitfire,” she said nuzzling the mare softly as they both drifted off to sleep in the hooves of the pony they cared for.

Author's Note

Yeah sooo theres not much more to say than this chapter is really much just setting the scene, I wanted to make Manehatten feel big like somewhere where only the big people preform and has a high reputation

In this act which will be boarderline 20k words, I wanted to really just have the definition of slice of life but still have other things in it which will keep you intrested, the main problems that the ponies will face in this scene will be things like the media and other ponies.
