Chapter 13: Another Night In

A tired Rainbow Dash wandered through the streets of Manehatten. Spitfire trotted next to her, she had a wing draped over the pegasus as they walked.

Rainbow had been drained to the bone after today’s training, they had spent hours practicing the new routine… and Dash knew that the training would only become more intense as the week progressed. She only had one thought on her mind: and that was rest.

Spitfire looked over at the slum pegasus who had taken libraty of leaning on her for support. She smiled. “You know that’s not even the worst training session we’ve ever had,” she said knowingly.

Dash slowly looked up at her marefriend with slight shock. “What do you mean? How could anything be more tiring than that?” she asked quizzically, her voice slightly dry from the afternoon’s session.

Spitfire pondered as she remembered back on all of her training sessions. “We once had to train for a full 16 hours one day,” she said pondering.

Dash was astonished. “H-how...why would you do something like that!” she asked.

Spitfire grinned. “Well...me and Soarin where making a new routine for the show in Cloudsdale a couple of years ago, it was when we’d just been promoted to our new ranks and our first job was to coordinate a performance. But when we gave it to Silver he didn’t approve and in the last few days before the performance we had to make an entirely new routine and then learn it...we never slept for days and we were like zombies at the performance,” she said with a small laugh.

Rainbow giggled and shook her head. “Wow… I hope I don’t have to do that, I need my naps,” she said with a smirk.

Spitfire sighed happily, she looked down at the pegasus who still looked a bit too tired. She was planning to go out with Dash on a night out, but she thought it best to have a night in with the sky blue mare.

Spitfire directed Dash towards the hotel. After a few more moments of trekking the pair reached the large structure just as Luna’s moon began to rise into the blackened sky once more. Spitfire opened the door letting Rainbow in before they made their way towards the elevator.

Rainbow looked over to the yellow mare as the elevator started it’s accent. “So...what do you want to do tonight?” she asked curiously.

Spitfire looked over at the mare and smiled warmly. “Well...I was thinking about going out, but since my marefriend looks like she’s just endured a weeks worth of starvation I think we’ll just order some food,” she said.

Dash gave an approving nod and the pair shared a quick nuzzle before the door’s of the elevator opened to reveal the penthouse once more. The pair walked out onto the tiled floor before making their way to the living area of the room.

Dash fell onto the couch in a dazed state as she finally let relaxation overcome her senses. Spitfire held in her laughter as she sat down next to the pegasus and planted a small kiss on her muzzle. “You worked hard today Dashie, I’ll go order us some pizza, do you want to watch a movie or something?” she asked.

Dash nodded softly. “Yeah, I guess so,” she said, trying her best to stay awake.

Spitfire smiled and got up off the sofa as she went to go order the food, whilst she did this, Dash laid on the sofa thinking about the events so far in her day. She knew that the next few day’s of training would take up the free time she had, her muscles gave a pain of disappointment when the thought passed through her mind. She wanted to do not only herself, but the entire team proud. She wanted to prove she was a Wonderbolt and she wanted to show all of Equestria she had what it took to become one.

Just then Spitfire returned and laid down next to the blue pegasus as she gave her a comforting nuzzle. “Well that’s the food ordered, you got anything you want to do?” she asked.

Rainbow looked up at the mare with a sincere smile. “Well, since we didn’t get to go out on a date, do you want to have one here, I mean if you wanna that is,” she said with a slight blush of embarrassment.

Spitfire placed a soft kiss on Dash’s muzzle before replying, “That’s a good Idea Dash, I’ll get the table ready,” she said with a wink before getting off to get the dinner ready whilst Dash recovered from the days workout.

Dash had perked up slightly after a very quick nap, she was now at the table as Spitfire trotted across the room and up to the table balancing two plates on her back, each had an identical pizza with a peppers and onions on top of a cheese coated mass. Spitfire leaned over and set the food down in front of the sky blue mare before doing the same for herself as she sat down next to her marefriend.

Dash smiled sheepishly. “So, this is...nice,” she said with a slight giggle. Spitfire smiled amusingly and nodded in approval.

The two dug into their meals in relative silence, the pair exchanged some glaces between each other but never really found a topic of conversation. Spitfire feeling the need to start a conversation spoke up, “So, are you excited about performing in Manehatten?” she asked with a hopeful tone.

Dash nodded as excitement lit up her features. “Yeah, it’s gonna be sweet, we’re gonna show everypony what we can do when we blow their minds with our tricks!” she said confidently.

Spitfire smiled happily. “Well I’m glad Dash, you seem to be enjoying the whole...experience,” she said giving Dash a knowing grin.

Dash was about to mark a response when she decided not to, instead she leaned across the table and caught the golden mare off guard in a kiss. Spitfire’s eyes widened but quickly fluttered closed as she leaned back into the mare as they held the kiss for as long as possible.

Soon though both mares finally parted leaving the other completely breathless, but in their minds it was totally worth it.

Spitfire was the first to try and conjure up a sentence, “wow...that was unexpected,” she said with a smirk.

Dash grinned knowingly at the mare. “Yeah, I thought you deserved it… after all who wouldn’t want to kiss somepony as beautiful as you are,” she replied going quiet at the end of her sentence.

Spitfire was taken slightly off guard by what the sky blue mare had just said. “Well… I’m not that beautiful, am I?” she said, trying to act casual about the subject.

In Dash’s mind something seemed to snap, something that held all those weld up emotions and thoughts, letting them poor out and take control of her senses. Dash got up off her chair as she moved over to sit next to her marefriend as the pair shared the seat Spitfire was currently sitting on.

Spitfire looked into Dash’s eyes she could see that the mare wasn’t joking around when she opened her mouth, “...Spitfire.” Dash sighed. “I think your beautiful, but not just in one way, but in every way, you're completely gorgeous and anypony would be so lucky to even be considered a friend, your amazing in what you do and what you say, every minute with you I feel like it’s the time of my life, I know you don’t like me saying thank you for everything Spits, but thank you...thank you for letting me be your marefriend,” she said leaning onto the mare’s shoulder.

Spitfire was utterly stunned by her marefriend's words, she never knew something like that would come from Rainbow Dash, and she knew that every word that she’s said was true, her heart and chest swelled with a new feeling of happiness as she contained the tears daring to drop from her eyes.

Dash felt a soft hoof curve it’s way round the underside of her jaw, she slowly looked up to see the smiling face of her marefriend. Spitfire leaned down and kissed Dash’s lips softly before speaking, “...that was the kindest thing anypony has ever said to me Dash… and I want to thank you...for being my marefriend too,” she said brushing a few strands of hair from Rainbow’s mane before continuing, “And I think you’re really, really beautiful,” she said as she leaned in for another deep kiss.

Dash felt her walls finally come down when her lips touched again, for the first time in a long time she could finally feel free to go beyond what she thought was cool and fun, for the first time she let herself go...and she never wanted it to stop…

Author's Note

Hey there everypony, It's me Alex once again.

Now I have had a lot of very touching feedback from all of the fans reading this fic and I know I'm being Like Rainbow Dash in the story when I say thank you too many times, but I really want to say thank you again for your ever growing support and for the rising followers and likes across all our fics, it means a lot for all the hard work that we go through to make this fic happen, but in the end we do it for your enjoyment.

Anyways onto the fic in hand, in this chapter it was more cute bonding time after the training, the next chapter we'll be moving about 2 days in the future, just that I don't really want to bore you all with linking chapters.

Anyhoo hoped you like the new chapter and we will continue to work on the fic, we've both been busy as of late but we'll get some more chaps up this coming week.

soooooooo summary time!

1: They haven't said I love you or love in anyway of the sort as much as it pains me not to say it in the fic but the climax is coming
2: no Michael is not dead
3: It seems kinda odd that Dash would be tired out after something but I want to have the effect of training for the Wonderbolts to be tough for any type of pegasi
