Chapter 22: So Now What?

Rainbow stormed down the large hallways of the Wonderbolt stadium as Spitfire trotted next to her, a slight concern was outlined on her face. “Dash are you sure you want to do this now...I mean Silver doesn’t even know about what my dad said."

Dash turned to face her marefriend, determination in her eyes, “I know, but I want to see what he thinks about the team once I’m through with him,” she said, not stopping to talk as the pair made their way up to the cloud door which marked Silver Skies office. Instead of knocking on the door Rainbow barged into the small room as she spoke.

“What the heck kind of a manager are you, willing to sell out your best team members just to make a few bits, what the hell is this!” Rainbow shouted as she trotted up to the stallion in question, slamming her hooves onto his desk. Silver was yet to look up, he stopped writing and put the quill he was using neatly on the table next to a few others, he then proceeded to line each one up accordingly. He then put his hooves together and looked at Dash with nothing but a blank face.

A tense silence fell over the office for a few minutes, the only sound being Dash’s heavy, angered breathing as she continued to stare at the stallion on the desk in front of her. Finally after a few moments Silver spoke, “what is it you require Rainbow Dash?” he said his tone slightly annoyed for the mare’s lack of formalness.

Rainbow rolled her eyes. “Don’t give me horse apples Silver, I want to know why you would sell out a member from this team especially the team's captain if somepony gave you the right money,” she said glaring at the stallion.

Silver’s face was still blank making both mares slightly confused about what he was going to say next, but before any of them could speak the stallion started up again. “What are you talking about Rainbow Dash, I wouldn’t sell any member from the current team as it stands, especially my captain,” he stated motioning a hoof to Spitfire who sighed in relief.

Dash raised an eyebrow confused. “So you wouldn’t do it for money then?” she said making sure her question was fully answered. The stallion just simply shook his head in reply.

Rainbow suddenly felt a wave of guilt as she rubbed the back of her neck hesitantly. “Oh...um,” she said trying to find the correct words for an apology of some nature. However Silver stopped her actions by speaking up.

“It’s fine Rainbow Dash, but I must ask was there a reason for these accusations?” he asked raising an eyebrow at the two mares in the office.

Spitfire stepped forward as she spoke up, “it’s my father sir, he um... found out about me and Dash...worst came to worst and now he’s threatening to take mine and Blazing's jobs,” she said slightly downcast as Rainbow draped a wing over the mare.

Silver grinned. “Ah yes Golden Fire, I forgot about that stallion even though he does donate a lot to the team, but he only helps to advise the teams next moves, he doesn’t have a final say in anything,” he said. Both mares smiled thankfully at the stallion.

“Thanks sir, sorry for accusing you we’re both just um…” Spitfire said trying to find the right word.

“Stressed out I guess,” Rainbow finished as Spitfire gave a nod in approval.

Silver nodded happily.”It isn’t a problem,” he started as the mares nodded and turned to leave before he spoke up again stopping their actions, “but since you didn’t come into my office properly and speaking in an informal tone I will expect you both here one hour earlier for training,” he said with a smirk.

Spitfire and Rainbow both gave a sigh of disapproval, but nodded in acceptance at the stallions order before leaving the room.

After hearing the door to Silver’s office close Spitfire turned quickly to look at her marefriend, “why did you do that?” she said in a hush whisper.

Dash cheeks turned slightly red in embarrassment. “Well...I guess I went a little too far, but I needed to see if he had any shred of loyalty in him,” she said.

Spitfire smirked. “So now that all that’s over, what does the loyalty expert have to say now?” she asked as the pair began trotting down the hallway.

Rainbow pondered for a moment before answering, “he seems okay, but I’m still not sure why your father would say something like that,” she said confused.

Spitfire sighed and shrugged her shoulders clearly not up for that type of conversation. Rainbow stopped what she was going to say and opted for a warm smile as she pulled the mare close to her with her wing.

Dash looked down at her marefriend and raised an eyebrow. “So do you want to go find Twilight and the others, I’m pretty sure they haven't gone that far since we left them,” she said cheerfully as she opened the door to the exit of the stadium as Spitfire followed.

The golden mare nodded happily at the thought. “Yeah sounds like a good idea,” she said flaring her wings, “first one to find them is the winner,” she said in a sing-song voice before shooting off into the sky. Dash giggled at the mare’s playfulness before realising she was still on the ground. She quickly spread her wings and took off after the mare…

Just as both mare’s left the stadium, a golden stallion trotted up the steps and into the arena closing the door behind him quietly.

Meanwhile in Cloudsdale’s central park Twilight and the others were enjoying a picnic, the atmosphere was slightly dimmed though at what they last saw of Rainbow and Spitfire.

Twilight looked around all the ponies as they ate silently, “I wonder what all the fuss was about?” she said taking a bite of her apple.

Rarity pondered for a moment before speaking, “maybe Spitfire cheated on Rainbow and that means she would feel guilty, oh that would be a good article to read,” she said.

Everypony looked over at the unicorn with confused faces, Rarity just shrugged. "Well it’d be an interesting twist anyway,” she said flicking a few strands of hair out of her face.

Just then a pair of hooves landed down on the cloud surface behind the five ponies which caused them to turn as they saw Rainbow Dash trotting up to them. Twilight smiled at her sky blue friend, “hey Rainbow, wheres Spitfire?” she asked slightly concerned.

Before anypony could speak another pair of hooves hit the ground, everypony looked over to see the mare in question with a slightly annoyed look on her face. Dash pulled her famous smirk at the mare in victory.

Applejack looked at the pair sensing it was time to intervene in case anything happened, “why don’t y’all take a seat, we got enough food for everypony,” she said happily.

Spitfire and Dash obliged as they laid down next to each other around the circle of ponies, the yellow mare turned to Dash as she whispered, “congratulations Dash maybe I was wrong about being the best flyer,” she said.

Dash looked over at Spitfire with a loving smile, “it doesn’t matter Spitfire you’ll always be the best in my books,” she said giving the mare a gentle kiss on the cheek.

Everypony in the group gasped before letting out an aww. Dash realised what she had just done and mumbled some words under her breath as Spitfire tried her best to hide her reddening cheeks. Everypony shared their laughter as the day went on.

Meanwhile back at the Wonderbolt stadium, Blazing was currently in the mess hall with Soarin, while this wasn’t an official training day the stallion needed to get his mind off current events, he also needed some advice.

“Thanks for coming to train with me today Soarin, I know we’ve never been the closest of buddies,” Blazing said as he finished the last of his water.

Soarin smiled happily. “It’s not a problem Blazing, so...I’m guessing things could have gone better at home then,” he said hesitantly.

Blazing nodded in response. “You could say that,” he said with a slight chuckle, “Spitfire left to go find Rainbow, that’s when I decided to go get you, really haven’t had much else to do,” he said shrugging his shoulders.

Soarin nodded. “Well at least you're being there for Spitfire.”

Blazing had an unsure look on his face, “I dunno Soar...I don’t feel like I’m doing all that I can,” he said with a heavy sigh.

Soarin rolled his eyes. “being there is what a brother is supposed to do Blazing, you’ve just got to be there for her that’s it,” he said putting a forehoof on the stallions shoulder, “If you're still worried about it though the streak brothers should be back for training tomorrow so you can ask them, there probably more knowledgable than I am,” he said reassuringly. Blazing nodded before Soarin spoke, “well okay, I’ve gotta head home now to see my parents, have a nice day Blazing and remember be there for her,” he said as he trotted off. Blazing waved goodbye before trotting down the opposite hallway.

As the stallion wandered towards the exit of the stadium he passed Silver’s office and heard a familiar noise come through the cloud wall of the room.

“Look all I’m saying is we just be cautious about letting Rainbow into the bolts”

Blazing stopped when he heard the voice and backed up to the door, he then proceeded to open the door ajar slightly to see the two ponies inside, one was Silver Skies and the other his father. Blazing eyes widened, “what are you up too now,” he said angry to himself as he listened into their conversation.

“Why would we need to be cautious about Rainbow Dash, she’s brilliant! I’m surprised why we haven’t got her on the team right now,” Silver shot back sitting on his chair with a slightly confused look towards the golden stallion.

Golden Fire sighed heavily as he put a forehoof to his head. He turned towards the door slightly causing Blazing to stumble back out of sight. As he came back to the door he saw Golden Fire had now returned back to his normal posture again.

“There is a need to be cautious Silver I mean... have you seen her in public,” Golden Fire asked raising an eyebrow.

Silver Skies shook his head bemused, “I can’t say I have,” he replied.

Golden Fire felt a smirk start to creep onto his muzzle, but he held a straight face. “Well then I can see why your not worried, she is nothing short of a commoner taking what ever she pleases, I say we shouldn’t put her on the team, her attitude is not up to standard.”

Blazing felt his anger rise at this, Golden Fire was lying and he knew it. Part of him wanted to launch in there and hit him, but he knew better than that. He just leaned back in and listened to the conversation as it continued.

“I don’t think we can just rule a pony out on attitude Mr Fire, but I will take note of it nonetheless,” Silver said grabbing his quill. Golden Fire nodded before turning round to leave the room. Blazing saw this and hid behind a nearby corner into another hallway as he watched Golden Fire exit and trot down towards the exit of the stadium. When Blazing heard the door to the stadium close he sighed in relief, but soon after panic started to fill his body he needed to tell Rainbow Dash. He groaned when he realised he didn’t know where she was, he decided to tell her first thing tomorrow as he briskly made his way out of the stadium not wanting to be caught.

...

Meanwhile at the park laughter could be heard as Seven ponies chatted about various events and stories. However the sunset was just starting signaling the end of the day. Twilight turned to her friends as she spoke, “well I guess it’s time we should be heading home now.”

Everypony nodded in response. Rainbow turned to Spitfire, “so where are you sleeping tonight?” she asked giving a quick nuzzle to the mare making sure no pony saw this time.

Spitfire giggled slightly at this before answering, “well...I don’t know I’ll probably go over to Blazing’s house,” she said knowingly.

Rainbow shook her head. “Na you're sleeping with me,” she said getting up off the grass.

Spitfire raised an eyebrow, “where?” she asked quizzically.

Rainbow smirked. “I’ll tell you when we get there,” she said trotting over to her friends as she said her goodbyes. Spitfire rolled her eyes amusingly.

After a few moments Spitfire and Rainbow were both soaring through the skies over cloudsdale. Spitfire was still unsure where her marefriend was taking her, but she would rather sleep in a ditch then go back to her parent’s home. She also didn’t want to go back to her own house because no doubt her parents were already over there, waiting for her to get home so they could shout at her some more.

Suddenly without warning, Dash darted down towards an estate of houses. Many of which looked similar in design, Rainbow landed softly on the estate’s street and began looking around. Spitfire landed close behind her with a confused look, “so what are we doing here again?” she asked. Rainbow turned around to face the mare.

“It’s a surprise just hold on and let me find the right number,” Rainbow replied as she began trotting down the street as she quietly called out numbers, “okay...33…45...56...60...ah 71!” Rainbow called as she changed her course and began trotting up to a cloud home on the street.

Spitfire cautiously followed behind the sky blue mare as she knocked on the door of the house. The sound of trotting came from inside the home, then the unlatching sound of a lock before a light pink mare with a blue mane revealed herself at the doorway, an all too familiar smirk came to her face as she leaned on the frame of the threshold, “and why haven’t you come to see mommy sooner?” she asked raising a suspicious eyebrow.

Rainbow rubbed the back of her neck hesitantly, “eh no reason, I just had to spend time with my friends,” she said hoping her mother wasn’t mad.

The pink mare nodded softly and leaned over to wrap the mare in her winged embrace, “Welcome home Dashie...and is this the marefriend your father and I have heard about,” she asked looking over at the mare whilst still embracing her daughter.

Rainbow released the hug and nodded hesitantly. “Yeah you don’t mind do you?” she asked biting her lip.

The pink mare pondered for a moment, “besides the fact I’ve just lost a twenty bit bet against your father for this I’m happy for you,” she said giving her an affectionate kiss on her muzzle before trotting back into the home. Rainbow turned to Spitfire who was trying to hold back her laughter.

Rainbow rolled her eyes as she trotted into the home, “Welcome to my family,” she said happily.

Soo hope you guys enjoyed the new chap and HAPPY THANKS GIVING!

In this chapter I wanted to keep the drama, but stick slightly to slice of life until the very end....the big stuff will come in just a few chaps time maybe about...4 chaps time not too sure

And yeah our buddy manes is doing a collab with us for an Appledash fic, if you like that stuff you can go check it out when it comes up I'll put a link somewhere

but yeah thats about it soooo summary time !

1: Golden Fire is now trying to get Rainbow Dash out of the bolts will he do it? or is Blazing going to snuff him out before he gets a chance
2: Spitfire's gonna meet Dash's parents !
3: More about the main 6 will come later on, now that we're back in cloudsdale I intend to put them back in.
4: Doing Silver Skies in this chapter was hard, but we eventually settled it on him having a bit of OCD and a very none emotional face....I wonder if I should give him a moustache...
