Chapter 5: A Brother's Intuition
It had now been a full week since Rainbow Dash had been awarded the offer of a lifetime. Since then, Rainbow and the other active Wonderbolts had been improving their performances for the show in Canterlot now only two weeks away. Over the course of the past week, Dash had been training her hardest, outperforming most of the other Wonderbolts in the squadron.
Dash had still been in contact with her friends in Ponyville, she’d been sending letters back and forth between the small village. She did it mostly for Pinkie Pie though, as she didn't want a repeat of last year's academy troubles. Despite all this though, Dash had yet to spend more time with Spitfire. She had now been assigned a hotel in Cloudsdale and hadn’t spent any time out of training with the golden mare. She was quite disappointed she hadn't, but she was looking forward to tonight, for she had already scheduled to hang out with her idol again after today’s training session.
It was now mid afternoon in Cloudsdale. The sun’s beams cascaded through the open windows of the Wonderbolt lounge as the team members took a break from working out for the better part of the morning.
As the rest of the Wonderbolt members relaxed and did whatever they wanted to do, Soarin and Spitfire were currently in her office working on a few last minute changes for the Gala’s performance.
Spitfire checked over the papers again as she spoke up. “How about we do a low flying hammerhead stall?” she asked quizzically, looking up at her lieutenant.
Soarin eyed his captain with a look of amusement. “Do you want to take the Princess’s head off?” he said, muffling light chuckles.
Spitfire mumbled and shook her head before going back to scanning the papers again. Soarin, though, decided to break the silence. “So… heard you and Dash are going out again tonight,” he said with a smile, trying to keep a happy mood.
Spitfire looked up at Soarin with confusion. “How did you know abo-” She then groaned, rolling her eyes in annoyance. “Blazing Fire.”
Soarin tried to hold his friendly smile as he continued. “So... I was thinking, do youl want to come out tonight to that new club in town? I hear it's pretty good.” he offered with a hint of hope in his voice.
Spitfire pondered on the thought for a moment. “Seems good, where do you want to meet?” she asked.
Soarin thought for a moment before responding. “How about we meet in Cloudsdale’s central park?” he said.
Spitfire nodded. “Sounds good to me,” she said with a smile.
Soarin returned the smile. “Great, so have you told Dash yet?” he said with amusement growing in his features.
Spitfire looked up at her friend with a raised eyebrow. “What are you talking about Soarin?” she asked.
The stallion chuckled slightly. “Oh come on Spits, I know what you're up to,” he said happily.
Spitfire though was far from happy. “Soarin, I’m not up to anything with Rainbow Dash!” she said in slight anger.
“You're not up to anything with who now?” Blazing Fire said at the threshold of the door to Spitfire’s office.
Spitfire resisted the urge to to facehoof at this point as the stallion at the door erupted in laughter as he tried to find the words to express himself, “Wait... you and… Rainbow? Haha, you better hope dad doesn’t find out about this,” he said, trying his best to hold in the impending laughter.
Spitfire was now split between fury and blushing furiously with embarrassment as her sibling continued his rant. Blazing Fire smiled evilly and shouted down to the Wonderbolt lounge below, “Hey Rainbow Dash, Spitfire-”
Blazing Fire was cut off as a yellow hoof wrapped itself around his neck and pulled him away from the door before slamming it shut. He turned round to see Spitfire with one of her captain glares. Blazing Fire felt himself shrink under his sister’s stare as the golden mare towered over him.
Spitfire spoke with a quiet, angry tone. “You will not breath a word to anypony about this,” she said, her voice like venom as she poked her brother in the chest. Blazing Fire gave a desperate nod, feeling somewhat relieved when Spitfire trotted away from the stallion.
Just then, the door to the office opened, catching the attention of all the ponies currently in the room. They all turned to see the rainbow mare in question standing at the door with a questionable look on her face.
Rainbow smiled sheepishly at the ponies in the room, all looking at her with wide eyes. “Um… did somepony say my name?” she asked.
Spitfire looked cautiously between the two stallions in the room before speaking up. “Um… yeah, I wanted to ask you something in private," she said, looking between the two stallions in the room with a hard glare.
Soarin and Blazing Fire exchange looks between each other before quickly trotting out of the room, leaving the two mares in the small office. Rainbow smiled. “So whats up Spits?” Dash asked casually.
Spitfire grinned. “Well, there's gonna be some changes to tonight's plan,” she said happily.
Dash raised an eyebrow. “What kinds of changes?” she asked, her curiosity peaking.
Spitfire grinned. “There's a new club in town and Soarin asked if you and me wanted to come along with the rest of the team tonight, you in?” she asked with a hopeful tone.
Dash felt slightly disappointed that she wouldn’t be spending more one on one time with her idol, but she was happy with the opportunity to at least hang out with her and the rest of the team. Dash nodded. “Sure thing Spitfire, where should we meet?” she asked.
Spitfire smiled as she put the papers into the desk's drawer and stood up, collecting her whistle as she spoke, “It’ll be right after the last part of training today, just meet me outside the stadium, okay?”
Dash nodded happily as she followed the yellow pony out of the office. “Sure thing Spits, I can’t wait!” she said happily before leaving the captain in the hallway and trotting off towards the locker rooms.
Spitfire smiled warmly as she watched the cyan mare trot down the hallway, leaving her alone with her own thoughts.
Spitfire felt a slight tinge of panic; now that her brother knew about her feelings, it was only a matter of time until her clumsy sibling spilled the beans. Spitfire had a major choice on her hooves. On one hoof, she could hope and pray that nothing would come out, but on the other, that seemed very unlikely. All of this seemed to make Spitfire want to rush things, which was something she didn't want to do.
Spitfire groaned, rubbing a forehoof against her temple. She wasn’t going to rush anything. It wasn’t her style after all, but this had just thrown a wrench into the works and Spitfire hated when she was forced to do things, especially if it wasn't her area of expertise.
The Wonderbolt captain sighed as she pushed the thoughts out of her mind for now. She had more important things to deal with at the current time. Taking her whistle firmly in her hoof, she trotted out of the lounge and into the arena, keen to get the training over with so she could, once again, be with the cyan mare she secretly loved…

Author's Note
Sooo for this chapter I think I'll use the word kickstart considering its actually kickstarted this whole fic now with a lovely word I like to call intrest.
But anways from now the fic shall become more exciting and yes for those just wanting those two mares to kiss right now...just hold your patients for now I promise I'll make it worth your while.
So anyhoo lets do a little summary shall we?
1: Spitfire has now got to act fast if she wants to be the first to ask Dash out as a marefriend, but having never gone out with a pony (which I myself find shocking) she doens't want to take things too fast...will she do it in time?
2: yes as you probably got from the
dads going to kill you when he finds out
Spitfire's parents probably arn't going to approve of Spitfire's secret crush
3: I know there wasn't really much conflict in this chapter besides Spitfire nearly killing her sibling, but like all great sister and brother fights one just had to take it too far
