The sun was shining, and the birds were chirping, and foals from all around the village were getting ready for the first day of school after the summer break. Though, some foals did not want to go in the first place. "Big Brother! Big Brother! Wake up!" Shadow said, through the locked door of Darks room.
Dark yawned, and replied, "W-Wha... what Sis?" he said, as he got off the bed, stretched, and grunted from his back popping. "I said wake up silly! Its the first day of school!" Shadow said, giggling afterwards. He groaned, he really hated the school days, especially after summer, or fall break, do to the fact that he won't get to sleep In like normal. "Alright, alright, I'm coming, Sis."
DarkLight, or Dark, was a chubby little colt, with a black mane that flowed freely over his left eye, He was also a earth pony, and was fairly strong for his age. and a solid white body color, which seemed to shine in the light. Dark looked at his rump and sighed. He was one of the few foals in the village who did not have a cutie mark yet, though, he was not in a rush to get one just yet.
As he opened the door, his sister was there, beaming at him with a smile so cute, it could melt a heart of stone. He smiled and rubbed her head, and which she giggled childishly. ShadowShine, or Shadow, was a small filly, and not thin, but not fat either. She had a mane which covered half her right eye, and also went down her neck. Dark thought she was a pegasi when she was just a filly, over some bones that were miss placed, but after awhile, it was confirmed she was an earth pony.
They both went into the kitchen and saw two bowls of pancakes, some orange juice, and there mother, ShadowSight, doing the dishes from the night before. They got up on the chairs, and there mother turned around wit ha smile on her face. "Good morning you two!" she said, beaming down at them. They both smiled at their mother "Good morning mom!' they both said at the same time.
Their mother smiled, and passed there backpacks to them, and the bowls that contained the pancakes and the cups that contained the orange juice were left without a crump or drop left, "I hope my little twins have a good day today!" Sight said. In truth, Dark and Shadow were twins, though, they were born on separate years and days, and that one was a colt, and the other was a filly. Dark groaned at the word school, but Shadow giggled in joy, for this was her first year.
Sight smiled at the two, and said to Dark "Oh, don't worry, Sweetie, I am sure that it isn't THAT bad." Dark rolled his eyes, and smiled "True, but it messes with my sleeping time." Sight giggled a little, as she walked them both to school

Chapter 2: The School Day
Chapter 2: The School Day
As they arrived at school, Sight gave Dark and Shadow a kiss on the forehead and bid her farewells. As they got into the school house, it seemed that a lot of the good seats were already took, but Dark quickly got a seat in the middle, so he wasn't far away from the teacher, and not to close either.
The lesson was very dull, but Dark carried on, though, he was utterly bored, because the teacher, known as Miss Firefly, was reviewing things that Dark already knew before he advanced the grade. Shadow was in a different room, because this was her first year at the school, and he was sure she made some friends by now. As for Dark, he was more of a loner, and didn't have any friends, and if he did, it was for a good five seconds before they cheated him out of his lunch, or took something from him.
After a couple hours of boring lectures from Miss Firefly, she released them for a lunch break. On the way to the lunch room, he felt uneasy, as if something, somewhere, was watching him. He shrugged it off, thinking it might have been one of the teachers thinking he misbehaved somehow, though, he still couldn't shake the feeling completely until they and the rest of the class reached the lunch room. Dark brought his own lunch, and was able to sit next to Shadow, which shared cookies with him, and he shared some cakes that Sight made for him.
After the lunch break, they went back to the class room, and resumed their lessons until Miss Firefly released the class for recess. Everyone passed right before Dark, and knocked him down, making him hit his head on the side of the door. "Oh! Dear, are you alright?" Miss Firefly asked
"I am fine, Miss Firefly." Dark replied, rubbing his head. Miss Firefly nodded "Be careful dear, don't wanna see you get hurt." This made Dark smile a bit, as he went outside for recess.
As he was trotting around, he saw lots of foals having fun, including his sister. This made him smile quite a bit, because he loved his sister because she could make him smile, no matter what. After awhile though, he started to have the same feeling as before, and looked around to see if someone was watching him.
While looking around, he noticed a strange looking pony in the distance, but from where he was standing, he could not make out anything from the pony except that he looked like a black blur in the distance. Miss Firefly called the class back inside for pick-ups, and when Dark looked back at the spot he saw the pony in, the black blur seemed to have disappeared.
He went inside and grabbed his backpack, and waited for Shadow. After waiting for what seemed like forever, his sister was bouncing as if she met the love of her life. This made Dark laugh, and his sister joined in with small giggles, though, she didn't know what was so funny. They went outside, and waiting on the sidewalk for their mother.
Dark started to look around, and saw some colts and fillies with their mothers and fathers. This made Dark sigh slightly, and think back. He had a dad once, LightSwirl was his name, but he died of a disease while Sight was pregnant with Shadow.
"You ok there, Sweetie?" his mother asked. This made Dark jump, because he did not know she was already there, waiting for him to come out from his stupor. "I-I.....I'm fine, mom" he said, with a shaky breath.
She nodded, and Dark walked with his sister and mother all the way home

Chapter 3: The Nightmares
Dark looked around at the trees as they walked home, And time seemed to pass by quickly, because Dark was not looking were he was going, and went face first into the house door.
Shadow giggled like a little school-filly, and said "You silly filly!" Dark wanted to yell and say that it wasn't funny, but the face she had on was too cute, and he found himself chuckling a little bit. "Come on, you two, inside." Sight called, and the two went inside for dinner
After dinner, the two went to get ready for bed. Dark went into his room, and saw the familiar white walls. Darks room was a decent little room, just the way he liked it. It had solid white wallpaper, and black splotches of paint randomly put there by Sight, when Dark asked if he could paint himself.
As he was about to get in bed, his sister knocked on the door "B-Big Brother?" Shadow said, voice a little shaky. Dark answered the door "Yes, Shadow?" he said, smiling down at his sister. Shadow was tearing up slightly, and showed Dark a small book
"I-I had a nightmare, brother.......C-Can you read this to me?" She asked, slightly sniffling. Dark smiled and hugged his sister, and took the book from her hooves "Alright Shadow, lets go." She smiled up at her brother, and went to her room and got in the bed.
Dark soon followed and began to read a story about a brave knight who had to save a princess from a dragon. Shadows eyes got heavy, and she soon fell asleep, smiling while she slept. Dark smiled and kissed her forehead "Love you sis" he said softly, and went into his room, and got on the bed. He fell asleep right after he laid his head down.
In his dream, it was very dark, and he was scared. He tried to call out for his mother, but he could not speak, he tried to move, but he could not. He could barely breath at all, and being as terrified as he was, he was breathing rather hard. He soon became adjusted to the darkness, and could see slightly better. Though, he wished he had not even been dreaming after what he saw.
He saw two red eyes in the strange void, and that sent cold chills down his spine. "Well, well, well.....what do we have here?" A voice echoed through the darkness. Dark tried to speak, but couldn't move his mouth to make words. "We will meet very soon, little one, very soon." The voice broke out into a blood boiling laughter that made Dark cringe in fear, hoping he would wake up.
Dark got his wish, and woke up, but not in a way he hoped.
