Chapters I yawned as I headed into work, the days were slowly piling on-top of me. When I first got this job, it was just for a little bit of income to support my dream, but with that out the window what am I left with? This stupid job. Grabbing my key card I swiped in, not a minuet late as usual, though if I had the change I would have gladly taken an extra five minuets nap-time.
"Oooh, good morning Rainbow Dash, boss said she wants you up in the master suite today!" I groaned waving my hand toward
Pinkie Pie as I made my way to the employee elevator. When I first became friends with Pinkie I never understood how she went from being in her bakery to the hotel, or even why she did it. That was until she told me that she worked partly in the kitchens here since she always had the spare-time. Her business was know all over, and everybody knew about her shop, the best around.
"Oh Pinkie, did she say why? She never usually lets me up there because of my unprofessional look"
She shrugged and bounded down the hall, shaking my head I entered the elevator. I stood my eyes focused on the light above the door waiting for the "ding" to tell me I could get out and get today over. Soon it did go off and I went strait to the bosses office. I don't know her name, all I do is call her boss, she has pale skin and grey looking hair. She had yellow glasses that balanced on her nose and framed her purple eyes.
"Boss" I said, standing in-front of her desk, she looked up from her papers only to look back down and grab a set containing today's mission. I looked down confused.
"Before you say anything, I want you to do it because your quick. There is a prince and his sister coming to stay at the hotel and I want the room sparkling by the time they come, you have the full day to get it done. If it wasn't for the party today the time would be cut even shorter. I trust you Rainbow. Don't let me down."
I let my mouth hang open for a second before giving a small salute and heading back to the elevator, pressing the only pretty button "Double-suite". Not many of the staff were allowed to even tough the button, it was the only place where the high raking staff could go into, and today that luxury was mine. As soon as the elevator stopped I could see why, everything was perfectly decorated buy there was stuff for me to fix? Gold and white was everywhere with the odd part here and there of another colour to break it up. I gazed around the hallway heaving a sigh before looking down at me sheet.
Rainbow Dash
The couple here today are a prince and Princess, they are siblings and require the same standard in both their rooms.
Everything need to be immaculate, no pillow out of place!
Do all your regular jobs, and make sure they are perfect. Beds, tables, chairs and all the other simple tasks must not be forgotten.
I have been told they like apples, so see it fit to have a bowl waiting for them - only the best of course - and then your task will be done.
If you get this done right and on time, expect triple your normal pay at the end of the week.
-Boss
Placing the paper on the poshest table I had seen, I decided on doing the simple things first. Clicking my fingers I headed toward the first bedroom, looking at the walls as I went, this was one of three suites that was decorated to look like a palace. The hotel wasn't as posh or fancy as most, but for a few selected bunch, this was perfect to them, not too over the top, yet still high-classed enough for them. If my flat ever looked this good it would be the work of a miracle.
I looked around the room, this was larger of the two, I think this would be the prince's choice. I started with the simple things. Making the bed, arranging the furniture and making sure if any dust was seen that is was to be cleaned on sight. Before long I was done, I was the fastest girl on the job. I spend most of my time in the common rooms, because they don't look down their noses at the way I choose to present myself. Man people have they hair dyed, even that high-class teacher Twilight is always taking about does, but somehow the fact I like mine to resemble my name means nothing. I glanced up at the clock.
"Yes, lunch time" I made my way out of the now perfect room, with only two left I was sure to be done before I even needed to be. I waited for the elevator, looking to see that the closed doors were painted to match the rest of the decorations. I tapped on the up button before tapping my foortirritably at how slow it was. I guess not being used as much could be the reason. Soon it had arrived just as the yawn escaped me. I headed in and pressed the green "Staff" button waiting to get the glorious food that wold be waiting, maybe even a special cup cake from Pinkie.
"Hey Rainbow, I saved you one of my cup cakes, I need to go and bake the rest of the cakes for my part see you there!"
"Whoa, your party, and why will I be there?" She just grinned at me and skipped of leaving a bed feeling in my stomach, I defiantly would not fit in with this kind of party. Pushing that though aside I went strait to the kitchen to grab my food, leaving a request for the best bowl of apple to be sent up to my suite as I took my food and sat down. Boss came in briefly nodded at me and carried on with her work, I guess that meant she must have taken a peek at what I'd done...
I walked around the suite three times before I was satisfied with my work. Bedroom, bathrooms, main room and hallway were all done to the highest standard I could do. The bowl of apples sat on the coffee table in the main room. I was told they'd come from Sweet Apple Acres and were the best quality apples anybody could get. I looked around the room one last time before making my way to the elevator. I was exhausted, the normal room never require as much room and they are smaller. This was a whole new ball park to work with, but I did enjoy the luxury even it it was only to clean it. Yup this was 10% cooler than any other suite or room in the entire hotel. A soft ding broke me away from admiring my work.
"Well, you did a splendid job Rainbow, I am sure that they are going to love the room" I shrugged, it's not like their ever going to thank me in person, they expect the room to be like this.
"Just a regular day boss, this the end of my shift or?" She shook her head and waved her hands toward the elevator. The glasses on her nose slipping forward slightly.
"No, take your equipment back to the storage room and you can clock off, I'll make sure that the bell boys don't get it dirty when they bring the luggage. Hm, now where to put this down." She walked into the main room fiddling with the papers in her hand, I took that as my excuse to head out. The elevator was still open when I got there, I was grateful nobody had needed to use it yet, waiting is not my favorite thing to do, at all. I looked at all the buttons on my way down, knowing that most rooms were full, and that there was so much work I'd missed today, or had I? Maybe one of the girls that usually works on the suites was doing my work? I shrugged, I'd done the work I was told to do, that was all I needed to do really.
"Wow, still working Rainbow. This is the latest I've ever seen you here" I looked up to see one of the other maids, her name all but forgotten but she worked here almost everyday.
"Yeah, I was at the double suite, bosses orders" She looked surprised but carries on her way waving a goodbye as she went, her orange hair bouncing freely behind her.
I walked strait to the storage room to put away all the equipment, glad to have finished the days work. Now I get t go home and take a well needed nap. Heading strait to the locker room I grabbed my things and made my way out, putting back my key-card after swiping the "out" section. As soon as I got out I saw Derpy handing in the post, her unique eyes a dead giveaway of who she was. Other then the bubbles tattoo she had on her arm. She smiled and waved me over.
"Oh, hey Derpy, hows the post today"
"Late, there was trouble, so it's all late. Your is at you house, oh I got to go bye!" I smiled and shook me head, she was the fastest mail deliverer that I'd ever met, and everybody loved her, getting their post late or on time if you knew she was the one to deliver it, I've never seen her not smiling.
I began the walk home the wind ruffling with my hair made the day better, I looked up at the bird flying over head, envious of their wings. I wanted to be free as a bird, they didn't have anything to worry about. Looking down I came across a man sitting on the street, he was covered in rags and hid his face. I looked at all the people ignoring him as they went by. I looked in my purse, I didn't have much but I tipped all my change into his empty tin.
"It's not much but I hope it can be the start to you better life, hopefully one better then mine." I turned and walked away before he looked up at me, walking along quickly to get home. I turned as I heard a commotion, people were flooding the street I just left, most likely a celebrity of some kind. I shrugged it off and carried on home.

My keys jingled as I closed the door behind me, I threw then onto my counter with my bag. Giving a small stretch I headed into my room, tidying a few thing before climbing into bed. I yawned as my head hit the pillow closing my eyes ready for sleep to take me
"RAINBOW!" obviously not, I groaned into my pillow and turned to look at my door as she walked in. "Come on, get up I need to get you ready before the girls arrive"
"What?" She shook her head
"The party tonight, I have the dress for you to wear" She waved the bag containing it in-front of my face
"I am not wearing that thing, or going to the party ... wait was Pinkie serious about it being hers?" She nodded at me waving the bag once more
"Come on, your my most loyal friends, you want let me down will you? I need a good friend to try my new line." I snatched the bed from her hand heading into my bathroom I took of my clothes before putting the dress on, I opened my eyes slowly too see how bad I'd look and I was utterly surprised. It was strapless and a crimson colour that reached the floor. There was a large slit down the right leg. It held above my breasts in an M shape. A darker piece was wrapped around my waist with a rose ending on my right hip. I blinked at myself. This wasn't me. Taking a deep breath I walked out to see Rarity in picking up her own bag, she turned around and almost dropped it.
"Rainbow, you really should wear more of this, the men will be eating out of your palms in no time at all!"
"Yeah, until they find out I'm a maid and become less worthy of their presence" She glared at my statement before walking into the bathroom.
"Then they do not deserve you. I just hope this dress will impress prince Blueblood, I don't care much for the other royals going. Other than Apple Jack, we go way back, remember? Oh shoes are by your sofa." I though about it for a moment
"Wait, she's a princess now? I though she just went to some posh school that wanted to beat the country out of her" I sat on my sofa and glared at the shoes I put on. I looked up just as she exited. Her dress was pure white, it was as sleek as min but had no slit on her leg, but had more shape to the top. A large V forming over her breast. She had light blue trimmings that gave it a very elegant loo.
"Nope, her family were last in a line of some royal blood, I can assure you she's still a country girl. She kept in touch with Twilight when they met at her school."
"Wow, she like it? All that luxury .. wait she much be the princess whose room I worked on today!" Rarity looked t me and srhugged
"A few royals are coming so it would be, maybe you should tell her at the party" I shook my head
"No way will I just go up to a princess be be like "hey i cleaned you room this afternoon" that would just be uncomfortable, and why would I tell them i'm a maid?" She rolled her eyes.
"Now for your hair and make-up, I should be done by the time the girls arrive." I rubbed my hands down my face as she smiled. "Don't worry you'd look fine."
1 hour later
"Now you look perfect, here!" She handed me a mirror, I stared at it, this was not me. The girl in the reflection was pretty, that isn't me. Her lips were red, with faint pink tint on her cheeks, while her eyes had eye-liner on them making them seem more open, with long black eye-lashes. Her hair had rainbow highlight but was loosely curled to frame the face.
"Wow" Was all I could say, nothing else came into mind, I continued to stared until a knock at the door brought me back to the real world.
All three of them walked in each wearing similar dresses, so Rarity was keeping with this style. Twilight's dress was a nice purple colour different from the highlight in her hair the top was strait and didn't show any of her breast, Fluttershy's was a soft yellow colour with green trimmings hers was the only one with straps, a small V neckline and a butterfly necklace. Pinkies was shorter than the rest and has a few ruffles on it, Rarity knowing she bounce around in it. No matter what anybody said, you can be beautiful even when your a little on the chubby side. We all grinned at eachother before Rarity spoke up.
"Well darlings, I think were all set to go"
I sat scowling in the car with my arms crossed over my chest.
"Oh come on Rainbow, were not asking much from our friend, besides they have alcohol, you'll be fine" I looked up at Rarity with a raised eyebrow.
"No way am I drinking with Pinkie around, she gets me involved in way too much, I can't afford to get really hammered, I do have work tomorrow." They all turned to Pinkie
"Don't worry Dashie, I don't have time to get you really drunk, I only have time to get myself really full of the cakes I made." I shook my head and gave a weak laugh, Pinkie really did love her cake. I leaned back against the seat wondering what I was supposed to even do at the party. I can't have too much to drink, I can't dance because I hate it ... what would I actually be able to do?
"Um, do you know if Apple Jack will be there, I haven't seen her in a long time." Twilight smiled at me, looking exited, but not for Apple Jack. Oh yeah, I forgot, her brother was practically a prince now married to Cadence, they must be going too.
"Yeah, she sent me a text saying she was exited to see you all, I saw her last week in my day class. She hasn't changed I can assure you, to be honest I don't think she wants to be a princess, she loves her family's farm an awful lot. I'm sure she'll fill you in when we get there."
I huffed, this was so boring, I'd rather walk, at least that way I could have music on, but then i'd be walking in a dress so I guess I should stop complaining. A little.
"Uch, when are we gonna get there? I want to get out of this thing." I waved at the dress to emphasis my hatred for the clothes, they all rolled their eyes at me before settling into their own conversation. Fine, in that case I'll juts take a nap in the car. Closing my eyes I drowned out the sound of their voices, focusing on the blank canvas of my eyes.
"Raaaaainbooow" My eyes snapped open for Pinkie's face to be all I see, taking in a breath I pushed her away.
"Please say where here" I yawned, wiping the corner of my eyes. I gave a few small blinks before knowing I was awake.
"Yup, we would have let you sleep otherwise silly" Then she bounced from the door, great I'm the last to leave. When I got out Rarity shoved something black in my hand, I looked down then back at her to see she was wearing a mask.
"Masquerade, are you kidding me. Well at least now I can hide myself a little better, my head still a dead giveaway"
"Oh come on live a little, when was the last time we all went out to have fun!" They all looked at me nodding.
"Easy, I was 18. We all got drunk, I saw one of the Wonderbolts, and they said if I was in that state I'd never be part of the,. Oh and then, then they told me I was over qualified to join." I watched as they all went quiet. Twilight stepped forward taking my free hand.
"That's the past, were all a little different now, come on I'm sure something good will come out of this for you" I sighed, she's right. I fixed the mas on my face before giving a toothy grin
"Well I guess I better make the most out of this, come on!" I pulled Twilight along, and soon the sound of five pairs of heels rang across the pavement.
"OK follow me girls,I know where our table is, I made a few ...specifications" I looked behind me at the girls faces,i
"Rarity, that has me worried. You're planning something" She turned round and grinned.
"Maybe I made sure our table was as close to AJ's as possible, I'm sure she won't mind" We all laughed and followed her, I kept my eyes focused on the back of her head, wanting to ignore any looks from anybody. As soon as we got the the table I let out a sigh of relief. I looked at the decorations around the place, it was all light. Everybody was wearing bright happy colour and then there was my wearing red, with a black mask. I was glad the lights were low, making all the colours seem dimmer, I turned to Rarity.
"Rar, any reason why I'm the only person in murderous colours?" She shrugged not looking at me, before changing the subject.
"Oh Apple Jack, come over here darling." I turned round to see her, and to be honest she didn't look much different. Older but I could still see it was her. She looked at us, a bright smile on her face as she made her way over as quick as possible.
"Well howdy girls, ya'll just saved my hide back there" I blinked. Princess AJ just said howdy she really hadn't changed, she must still have that challenging attitude to her. I glanced at her soft orange dress, more of a ball gown look to it. She grabbed a chair and sat down with us. "I have certainly missed spending time with sane people. Everybody I talk to seems to complain about people like how I am" I frowned at her as she looked round the table
"Oh, they complain about tacky farm types that are muddy, and well, I'm still that girl. Even Mac's still the farming type, built like a bull" She laughed and patted her dress smiled at us "I really have missed ya'll"
"Well, you missed me least, we have seen each-other a lot at school" I stretched a little and yawned before
"So, how've you been living in the palace, or whatever?" She frowned at me
"I hate it, there's no sense of family, I'm just glad I have Mac and Apple Bloom, though she's been forced into boarding school for now. Speaking of Mac have you seen him? He said he had things to check up on but haven't seen him. H'll be easy to pick out of the crowd"
"How would we?" She ginned
"Well, he matches your outfit quite well..." I stared flashing Rarity a look, though she seemed delighted bout this new found information.I just shook my head.
"I need to go girls, people to greet, I really wish I could stay and chat, this is one of the parts I hate about this title. I hope we can catch up more later. Bye." She walked of, putting a fake smile on her face, she really must hate aspects of this, I'd hate wearing a dress almost all the time.
"Come on lets go mingle ourselves girl" I shook my head as they all started to get up
"No thanks, my glass is empty" They rolled there eyes patting my shoulder. They knew not to push me, i'd mingle later, when I feel a little more relaxed.I waited for a waiter to bring me a drink, and another, and one more until I felt ready to talk to these rich people. Though I still didn't want any of them talking to me so I just leaned back into my chair watching the girls dance, having fun. Part of me wanted to, but the stubborn part forced me not to move. I wasn't entirely sure I had been sat here, they it must have been a while because FlutterShy would never dance with a guy she met so soon.
"Care to dance?" I jumped at the thick voice, I turned round to see glimmering green eyes. I swallowed the rest of my drink as he smiled. His suit was black, but all the details were almost exactly the same colour as my dress including his mask. I shook my glass.
"I don't think i've had enough to drink to think about dancing" I glanced at where the girls were to see them staring at me mouths opened, even those next to them were staring, I looked up at him again to see his hand was extended, obviously he wasn't taking my no very well. "I-"
"Don;t say anything darlin', just take me hand and dance with me. I'd rater dance with somebody unaware of me than girls throwing themselves my way." I blinked, his accent making me feel safe and warm. Slowly I took his hand. It felt warm, as it closed around my own. A perfect fit? I gave my head a small shake casting the though from my mind as he pulled me toward the dance floor.
"Do I know you?" I looked up into his eyes as he gave a small nod.
"Eeyup, but not like this." I blinked. Oh right that accent this must be Mac. Oh great.
"Your Apple Jacks brother right?" He nodded, forcing my feet to move along with him. Making me realize we were just standing.
"Eeyup, but thats not how you know me, though I need to say. I didn't approach you just because you unaware of me." He picked up the speed a little
"Ok, why? I really don't think I know you any other way..." He simply brought his head close to me ear, his breath sending a small shiver down my back.
"That change did help, though, your the only generous person I know of here" I frowned, mulling it over, before I stopped dancing.
"Wait, your telling me you dressed as a begger on the street to test people generosity!" I yelled in a whispered voice. He wrapped his hand around my waist again staring the dance over
"Well, it was a small test, I wanted to find a place for me and AJ to get away from this life, and everywhere else I took this test, got nothing but looks from passers by. So, because of you. I have a permanent hold on a hotel room in this place" i just danced thinking it over.
"Is that all you wanted to say?" I made a silent prayer in my head to hope he'll say no. Though I don't know why.
"Nope" The challenging side of me came out, as I raised an eye brow.
"Is that so ...care to share?" His eyes sparkled and his arm wrapped around me a little lighter, as I felt my cheeks burn, I was so glad that the lighting was dark
"Well, that depends on it your really sure you want to know. Spin" I did as told, before pushing myself into him. Looking up at him to see he was smiling widely.
"I'm sure I can take it" He brought his head next to my ear as he whispered
"Well then-" The lights suddenly became bright, and I came back to my senses my eyes wide.
"I'd like to thank you all for coming to one of my special Pinkie parties, held for my friend Apple Jack and her brother, so come on you two get up here and make a speech!" She smiled around the room, her grin getting wider when she spotted me. Great, now everybody is going to see Mac like this with me ... prince mac.
I watched as he and AJ went up to make their speeches both making the hall silent, other then the sound of their shoes gliding across the floor. Standing where Pinkie was stood they started to give their speeches, I stared at him, my ears unable to hear a word he or AJ were saying, everything just fell even more silent. They both smiled around the room, at random people, as I started to realize I was slowly backing away from everybody. I turned and headed strait to the closest door, only to find it led out onto a balcony. I looked out, the sky was beginning to darken, the stars were shining brightly lighting up the sky. The wind blew into my fast, calming me, and cooling me down. What was wrong we me? I am the awesome Rainbow Dash, why did I feel like whatever this feeling is? Letting out an irritated sign I lent against the balcony, with my arms on the rails. Closing my eyes I just let the breeze wash over me, breathing in the fresh air. I moved my hair from my face, letting it all flow behind me in rippling waves.
"Little cold out here don't ya think?" I jumped, turning around to see Mac staring at me blankly.
"You scared the hell out of me, jeez, you could have given me a little more warning." I turned back around, my hand holding to the rails.
"Sorry, but aren't ya cold?" I shrugged, though now he mentioned it, it did feel cooler out here, not that it bothered me. I felt him move closer, and after a small rustle his jacket rested on my shoulders. I looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Um, thanks ... shouldn't you be in there with AppleJack?" He chuckled before standing beside me
"The speech ended almost half an hour ago, you'd have know if you were in there" I blinked, I only closed my eyes for a moment.
"I've really been out here that long, no way."
"Eeyup, your friends are in there looking for you" I turned to him quickly, frowning at him.
"And you decide to tell me that now! I have to go back in there." I began to walk to the door when his hand caught my wrist.
"I think they'll be fine for a few more minuets." I pulled my hand from his.
"I, um, no I think its best that I go, before they get worried and send out a search party"
"Did somebody say part!" Pinkie bounced through the doors, her smile got bigger when she saw me. "RAINBOW!" she bounced to me, pulling me into a hug.
"Were were all worried about you, we though you'd run off because of wearing a dress!" I pulled back raising an eye brow.
"I am in a dress and I hate it, but I'd never turn and run, especially since Rarity was happy I gave in and decided to come." We pulled apart as the other girls came out, I raised my hand into the air.
"I am fine and alive, what got you all so worried, you all know that I can take care of myself."
"Howdy ya'll" They all turned and started at Mac, then back to me. After them doing it for about five times I decided to stop it.
"He knew you were looking for me and found me out here, told me that you were looking for me, and I was about to leave then Pinkie came and saw me, Ok?" They all gave their small "Oh's" but Twilight eyes lingered on his jacket, though she said nothing.
"When here ya'll are, I've been looking for you everywhere" AppleJack smiled at us all, clearly enjoying being outside. "At least, ya'll sane, well apart from you Pinkie" Which caused Pinkie to laugh and bounce at her. Soon AppleJack saw her Mac behind us all.
"There you are, so, how much have you had to drink, there is no way you'd be able to make a speech." I looked at him and frowned, I guess he was drunk. Explains why he talked to me.
"The usual, enough to held me talk but still be me. Though, I think I might have offended miss Rainbow here" I took a step back, gaping at him.
"Wha?" Was the only sound I could get out of my mouth.
"Oh take no notice, he's just teasing you, come on lets get back in there before they all come out here. I've spent to much time with the high-class for a lifetime." They all followed her out starting to chat as they went, I turned back to him, and began to shrug of his jacket. He held up his hand to stop me.
"I'll get it when you leave, stay warm." He followed them out, acting like nothing happened, I stood awestruck as his footsteps downed into the sound of conversation in the hall.
Now was my time to leave, it was all to awkward. Walking into the hall I searched for the girls but I couldn't see them anywhere.I made my way through the crowd, avoiding anybody's attempt at making conversation. Passing where the snacks were help I made sure I ate, before finishing the search. How hard can it be? I turned round on the spot and my face crashed into somebody, I looked up as my face blushed furiously when Mac grinned down at me.
"Well, I guess the nick-name somebody told me fits you." I glared at him pushing him back.
"Who told you, I'm gonna make them wish they never opened their mouth"
"Wouldn't that be hard for miss Pinkie, she seems to talk a lot." My anger stopped, I guess Pinkie was just spilling about us all.
"Wait, when did you last see them" Without missing a beat he pointed to where they were all stood, looking down at me, with a small smile on my face.
"Uh, thanks. Bye" I rushed to where they were all stood, feeling a little stupid at how quick I fled from him.
"I've been looking for you, where'd you go?" They all turned to me with raised eyebrows.
"On a tour, where were you?" I felt the small blush cross my face, but I kept it cool.
"...Looking for you." Twilight rolled her eyes, before looking behind me and grinning.
"Really, you were looking for us" I glanced behind me to see nothing and nodded.
"Yes, why what do you think I was doing?" I tilted my head wondering what they thought.
"Well Rainbow, you have been seen with ma brother a lot this evening" I face-palmed, dragging it over my face.
"Yeah, we've spoken, and he told me where you were just now, it's not like anythings ... oh, I get it now. He'd drunk, come on you know me better than that, I don't think of him like that either."
"Oh he'd not drunk, I#d tell you if he was, but he's drunk enough to be good at talking to ya'll, or he'd avoid saying anything other then eeyup." Oh, great now I feel like an idiot. Wait, why, its not like I like him or anything, right? I shook my head and shrugged.
"Well, I'm here now, what are we going to do?" Fluttershy looked at her watch.
"Oh, well I um, need to go back, the bunnies need to be put into their hutches. Poor angel must be worried." She spend so much time with that evil rabbit of hers.
"I need to be home in time to get some rest, Sweetie Belle is staying with me tomorrow, I'm going to teach her a little most about proper fashion."
"Oh, I better leave now, I know how jealous Owlowiscious gets since I spend a lot of time with spike, oh, thanks for those locust Shy, he loved them" Twilight really did love her bearded dragon, though she treats him like a dog. I bet it is wasn't for him needing to stay in a vivarium for so long she'd keep him in a bag with her all day.
"Pinkie?" I asked, as she finished one of her cakes.
"Oh, I better go home too, I have to open shop early tomorrow. AppleJack, when are you going?"
"I guess I better get Mac and we'll go too, I don't feel like staying if ya'll not here." Pinkie grabbed her and and puller her back to where the mic stood.
"I'd like to thank you all for coming to the party, my friends and myself are leaving now so we think it draw today's party for a close. I'd like to thank AppleJack here and her brother for attending. Bye everybody!" I blinked at Pinkie, what a way to end another one of her parties.
Before long the hall was empty, and clean. I blinked, I guess posher people tend not to be as messy.
"I actually had fun Pinkie, but I still think that Vinyl's club is better" Pinkie giggled and made a small twirl.
"Who do you think help's her" I gave her a small hug before turning to the others.
After helping to take down a few of the decoration I felt ready to go.
"Well I better head off ..." I smiled and turned round, just as Rarity spoke.
"Oh rainbow come and get a taxi with us, we did arrive together after all." I turned back around and grinned.
"Well, I am to awesome to pass up on aren't I"
"Wait, isn't that Mac's?" I looked at myself realizing I had put on Mac's jacket.
"Oh yeah, I'll just put it in the hotel room tomorrow. Wait, they've both gone?" Twilight nodded.
"Yeah, they said their goodbyes a little while ago, I guess you were concentrating huh" I shrugged before looking at them all.
"So, are we ready to go?" With a few nods we piled into the taxi, each of us taking about what we had the most fun doing, where I talked about my appreciation for the food. My apartment was the first stop, and I got out waiving to them all, as the tiredness washed over me. I tumbled up the stairs, obviously a little tipsy before getting to my door. As soon as I came in I kicked of the shoes and headed to my room. I threw Mac's jacket onto the bottom of my bed before changing into my night clothes and crawling into bed, willingly letting sleep take me.
I woke to find myself sleeping in the wrong part of the bed, blinking, I saw my feet rested on the pillow with my head against the bottom. I took a quick inhale, unhappy with how I'd slept, but a sweet smell hit me. I looked down, to see I was cuddling the jacket that Mac had let me borrow. Jumping up I pushed it away from me. The blankets fell of my waist as I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes I turned to look at my clock. 9:00 Well, at least I don't have work today, thankful that my boss didn't want to come come in after a night out, especially with the girls. I rolled over, now lying the right way around, my ceiling now seeming to be so interesting. The growling in my stomach soon told me I had to get up, no matter how much I wanted to stay in bed. I dragged my feet into the kitchen, almost like a zombie. I grabbed the first thing that was edible and suitable for breakfast and started to eat it, feeling better than I usually do. Maybe because I didn't drink as much? Shrugging I finished my breakfast went back to my bedroom, I guess I better dress myself. I groaned, my closet didn't consist of much I wasn't a dressy person. Jeans a T-shit and a hoodie do my just fine, but I need to get out today ... after I shower. Leaving the clothes where they were I took a quick shower, enjoying the warm water wash over me. I dried myself with the last towel on the rack, uch I might be a maid but I'm to lazy to clean my own home. I was just about to go into my room to get dressed the the sound of my phone made me fetch it, I glanced at the caller ID before picking up.
"Yes Fluttershy?"
"Oh um, hi Rainbow, um, wow your awake in the morning."
"Yes, whats the matter?" They all though I wasn't awake, but I was, I just didn't want to answer calls in the morning, unless it was important.
"Well um, I saw Scootaloo this pass my shop ... she seemed really upset. I was about to go out but she um, ran away from me." Now, I'm not soft in the slightest, but I've known the kid since she was young, and she considered me her idol. In high school I was good at a few things, but my passion was driving. I wanted to be a racer. So did she.
"How long ago was this?" I walked into my room, holding my phone between my head and shoulder, as I dressed myself.
"Oh, um about five minuets ago, I though I better call you first."
"I'll be there as soon as I can be, wait by your door to tell me what way she went."
"Oh, ok Rainbow" Ending the call I grabbed my keys from where I left them and headed strait out, locking the door behind me.
Soon enough I was at Shy's shop, it was far from my place, but If I needed to I could get there fast. She waited outside for me, waving my way.
"That way, oh I do hope you find her." Nodding, I ran in that direction, getting a good look at the streets until it hit me, when she used to feel sad she'd go to the place I used to race. Dodging people, I got there as quickly as I could, and sure enough she was sat on a bench hunched over, her body shaking. I walked to her, regaining my breath, before sitting next to her.
"Whats up kid?" She looked at me, with tears in her eyes.
"My parents don't understand" I frowned at her.
"What do you mean?" She took a long shaky breath.
"I told them I wanted to go into a real driving school, be on TV be famous, and-and they just, they just" She burst into tears, her head falling onto my chest, I held her, wondering on how I could help.
"Wait, I think I still know somebody that talent scouts, want me to to leave them a message." She slowly sat up, sniffing she nodded.
"How will I find them?"
"You don't, but, if you make sure you practice right here everyday, one day that will see you." She hugged me again, this time happily, before sitting back a grin on her face.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you." She bounced on the bench. "Your the best Rainbow Dash."
"Yeah, I am pretty awesome." I mussed her hair before leaning back, glad to know I made her feel a little better, even if her parents sucked. She smiled before looking in the distance, her eyes focusing on somebody.
"Um Rainbow, it's been a long long time since you were in High school, but is that Apple Jack? Is Apple Bloom here?" Here eyes went wide, as she stood up, waving wildly. I turned around, and sure enough it was Apple Jack, and she didn't look to happy.
"Ah'm mighty glad to see ya'll I've been chased by so many people today to get pictures, can't a girl get a break." I laughed shaking my head, before handing Scootaloo the spare tissue from my pocket, she took it quickly to wipe away all her tears before talking.
"Um, princess Apple Jack, is Apple Bloom with you?" AJ looked at her, frowning.
"Why were ya crying?" She sniffed before kicking the floor with her foot.
"My parents don't want me to do what I want, so Rainbow came to help me. How did you know I was here anyway?"
"Shy said she saw you run past her shop, so I came to make sure you were ok. Apple Bloom?" AJ shook her head.
"You don't need to call me princess, Apple Jack is just fine, I'm sorry, but Apple Bloom is still at her private school, they want her to loose the accent we have, it's too late for me and Mac to loose it. Not that he cares."
"What do you mean he doesn't care?"
"About it all, he's happy to have it all but he doesn't care about keeping the family accent, he only ever says two words any he always says them the same way." I chuckled, glancing at Scootaloo. She looked at her phone a sighed.
"Parents?" She nodded.
"They want me home to talk, I better go, thanks for everything Rainbow"
"Your welcome squirt, don't let them get you down, your sixteen, you have a long time" She smiled before heading off down the dirt path, a small spring in her step. I watched her until AJ snickered.
"What?" I asked looking at her.
"You, I never took you for the motherly type-"
"Neither did ah" We both jumped, looking at the the trees in front of us, soon Mac stepped out, a blank look on his face.
"What in tarnation, how long have you been standing there Macintosh Apple?" He shrugged, staring at us. I looked down at my clothes, feeling like I was in rags compared to their crisp clean clothes. Clearing my throat I stood up.
"I'm not AJ, just being loyal to a friend, anyway I better go ... she's the only reason I was here anyway." I looked at the track, heaving a sigh, I really did miss driving here, the wing in my hair, the rush of speed. Some thing just aren't meant to be.
"Could ya'll least stay a little longer, before all the camera's come again?" I turned around and shook me head.
"No, I really should go, unless you want to come to my place, I warm you it looks like a bomb full of my stuff exploded inside" She blinked at me.
"You have a house?"
"No, a flat, has all the space I need. So?" She nodded, turning to Mac
"You can go back to the hotel and stop following me."
"Nope" I turned to look at him
"Fine come, you can get your suit jacket while your at it, then you can leave, I'd like to do some catching up with her when I'm not drunk and she doesn't have to disappear every five minuets" He looked momentarily shocked, before taking a step toward us.
"Wow Rainbow, where did that come from?" I shrugged, and began the quickest route home, making occasional small talk with AJ
"Here we are, my flats that one" I pointed up, it was on the 2nd floor, I wished that it was much higher up, but at least it wasn't on the ground floor.
"I bet the rent cost is high, this place is pretty" She looked around at the street, before following me.
"No, I own it, just need to pay the regular bills, though they suck. I guess you don't have to worry about them." I unlocked my door letting them in, glad that I keep the main room and kitchen relatively tidy.
"No, but its not as easy either, since we know other people pay our bills, I hate it, I prefer to work for it. Honestly like people should do."
"Can you refuse the crown or anything, or make new laws?" She nodded
"We could, but the people next in line are just horrible, ah ain't never seen such a stuck up person in my life, I'm still not old enough to make new laws, he is, but refuses to be the one everybody blames." I went into my room, grabbing his suit jacket and bringing it out to him.
"Here, take it and go" I avoided looking at him, still feeling awkward about the whole of last night, and this morning. He moved toward me, taking it from my hand. His skin brushed against mine, feeling like a spark jumped across my skin a flinched backward, as did he, my heart skipping a beat. I avoided looking at him before weakly pointing at the door.
"Nope, ah'd like to catch up too, please." I stepped away from him, my hand felt like pins and needles, but nicer. I waved
toward my sofa, stepping back to avoid touching him again, as my heat began to calm down.
I sat on the seat across from them, now not knowing what to say .. why did I even suggest this? I can't talk about work ... all they can talk about is being a royal.
"So, what do you want to talk about?"
"Are you single" Well AJ doesn't wait for the punch, I sighed, leaning back into the chair.
"Yep, I'm not dating material so I gave up."The pair exchanged lookes before she carried on, I guess this is drill Rainbow Dash day.
"Anybody you like?" I sat for a second, as my stomach felt like a knot, I better stay honest, but I don't need to tell the full truth right?
"One, but theres no way he'd look at me without seeing what I see, plain Rainbow Dash"
"Rainbow, I may have been away for a while, but your not plain, in high school ever guy wanted to be your girlfriend, but you turned them down, you never said why"
"I liked a guy, who as far as I could tell didn't like me." She frowned, before asking for more.
"Who was he? What did he look like?"
"I don't know his name, you knew him, he had light drown hair, always always wearing jeans and one of those thin plaid jackets, tall, quite skinny, green eyes. Was on the football team, used to walk the same way home as you, but always with a few boys behind you and Shy..." Her eyes went wide the more I said, while Mac stared at me. "What?"
"Really, you didn't know that Macintosh was Macintosh?" I blinked, frowning.
"That wasn't you brother, Mac was still but in high school..."
"No ah wasn't, I was small, wasn't until I started work on the farm that I filled out ... you ... you had a rush on me?" I felt frozen, my eyes wide, no way.
"How could, you would, but I, what?" Apple Jack let out booming laughter.
"So, you were the only one who didn't know, I thought I told ya'll he was ma brother? Or was it when you were in cheer practice? So ... you like Macintosh eh." I felt the blush rise to my cheeks, before I lent forward with my head in my hand. There is no way this is happening, crushing on him twice oh no.
"Rainbow are you OK?"
"No" I muffled out refusing to let my head out of my hand, I listened to how silent he was being before I heard a small smack. I looked up a little to see she'd hit her leg and was grinning at Mac
"So, that mystery girl you were talking about didn't happen to be Rainbow did it?" I saw him gulp, his eyes flashed to mind before he groaned leaning back.
"Seriously, I find out now you liked me, I would have asked you out, but since you rejected everybody I though I didn't stand a chance." My head flew out of my hands, I looked at him shock written all over my face. He stared back at me, his eyes sparkling. His eyes, I knew they were familiar, why they felt like I was being sucked into a pool of emeralds.
"At the dance you knew who I was, why didn't you say anything!"
"I didn't know you were single!"
"Really, you didn't even ask, don't you think would have brought a date is I wasn't single?" He opened his mouth to speak but closed it again, not having the right answer.
"Wow, I though you two'd be kissing about now not yelling." We both turned to AJ with un-impressed looks. "Fine, want me to leave so you can talk it out?"
"No, no just ... I think you both better go, feel free to use my phone to call your car. I need a minuet." I put my phone on the table and waled to the small balcony I had. He liked me, he likes me? I rested my head against the cool metal, trying to cool myself down, the sound of hushed voices in my ears. Soon I heard steps behind me
"AJ's going home, I think we need to have a chat..."
