New Faces, and a New Idea

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Location: River-side cottage

Point of View: (will possibly change often later on as more ponies join in)  1st person, Ink Jet

My dreams slowly dispersed and faded into the back of my mind once more, to slowly be uncovered at a later date when they were needed. The reason they were going away, was not the usual way some ponies would wake up, to knocking at the door, or just some odd sense of needing to be up.

The reason was, I could smell someponies inside of my house. They were talking, but i could barely make out what they said, due to my senses being dulled from sleeping.

What it did sound like was someponies whispering low and carting stuff inside of my home. I mentally thought to myself, ideas going through my head one by one. That was until i heard hoof-steps coming towards me, and i started to panic slightly.

A stallion's voice sounded quietly, "Huh? This must be the pony I am sharing the house with. Um hello there, are you awake?" As the woulds left his mouth, it slowly got louder.

Letting out a slight groan, I opened my eyes and looked at a grey stallion, a color that went off a bit with his black hooves, silver mane and tail which had a hint of teal, and his beard with go that matched the color of his mane.

"Hm, probably not much of a talker like that big mac guy, i probably should just ask him yes or no questions."

I would roll my eyes a bit before slowly rolling onto my stomach, to give my back a break from the hard wood floor. "That won't be necessary, I can speak more than just yes and no."

"Well that is good, oh and sorry about my remark, I just met some ponies today that aren't that talkative. One only responded in 'eeyup's and 'nope's." I could tell now, he was going to be a bit of a hoof-full, but then again who isn't a hoof-full to handle at least once in their lives?

The stallion then heard some ponies complaining and went off to them, while he did that, I took the chance and ran for the door, needing a bit of air, and also I needed to go grab the bed that I had put on hold for pick up.

On the way there though, I didn't stop running. Despite being a writer, I still liked to run around and move like there was no tomorrow. There was something about it that felt nice, an-

Suddenly I made contact with something and started to tumble with that something. My head hit the ground a few times, and thankfully my horn did not make contact with it as well. My body did fly a bit before landing a few feet away from whoever it was I ran into.

When I opened my eyes, they were greeted by a dark grey unicorn stallion, and by the looks of it a leader, who wore his black mane and tail proudly along with his same colored mustache. I took into account that only one of his eyes may be usable due to the eye patch of his right eye.

The stallion opened his one eye, looking around with a brown eye around the area. When his eye fell on me, he would stand and walk over. A slightly foreign accent escaped his mouth as he spoke, "Why hello zere. I am very sorry, I did not see you zere. You sort of valked in mine blind spot."

I scramble to my hooves and nods to him. "I should also be apologizing, I ran into you without noticing either. My mind was else where."

The stallion nodded and surveyed me with his eye. "I can see you have a cutie mark for story vriting. I knew a few vho have ze same problem. One who regretfully zought she could take me out vith somezing...." He would shake his head and looks to me. "Vhere are my manners? My name is Iron Hooves, and you may be?"

"My name is Ink Jet, it is nice to mee- Wait, Iron Hooves?" I looked at him for a moment. "The leader of the Russian Pony empire?" He would just nod, this throwing my mind out the door as i stared at him curiously, speaking without thinking. "I thought you would seem more, 'war scared'."

My words must have come off a bit offensive, that much i could tell as he spoke in a slightly hostile tone, "And vhat is zat supposed to mean?"

My eyes widened a bit as the gears inside of my head turned, and quickly I said, "Sorry, it's just, rumors flowing around areas that made me think that. I mean now that I see you, the rumors really don't do what i see justice." He looked at me with a face that was blank, but had a hidden message which said 'really?'. "Ugh that came out wrong. Listen, I just mean my mind held an image of you that was not doing your actual image any justice. It is like you try something new and it is boring at first, but int he long run it is actually fun."

This seemed to push some hostility away and he would simply nod and look up to the sky. "Sorry to cut our meeting short, but I have somevhere I have to be." With a slight bow, and of course me bowing back to him, he left down the path that lead deeper into the town.

Despite this recent meeting, my mind could not stop nagging at me about something else entirely. It took a bit, then I didn't give it anymore thought, it probably wasn't anything important, besides I needed to keep the idea of meeting an important figure like Iron Hooves.

One reason, it might make a good base for an idea, another is that, I had this strange feeling this would not be the last time me and him crossed paths.
