A New Friend

Muyo has always loved dragons, he started writing a book of dragons months before he came to Equestria, during his travels he's encountered many dragons of all kinds in many many places. He hasn't finished it yet so he decided to show Twilight.

Muyo was about knock when suddenly Twilight opened the door and nearly bumps into him.

"Whoa! Hey Twilight." Muyo greeted.

"Muyo? Glad you dropped by, smoke is spreading all over Equestria." Twilight told him.

"What?! From where?!" He asked.

"I'll explain in a moment, we have to warn Pony Ville." She said.

"I don't think spreading panic is gonna help." He said.

"Let's just go!" She raised her voice.

They head to the park, Muyo can't help but wonder what's causing the smoke, when they arrive Twilight shouts.

"Listen up! Smoke is spreading all over Equestria." She announced.

They ponies see the smoke, they mutter with concern.

"But don't worry, I just received a letter from princess Celestia informing me that it's not coming from a fire." Twilight said.

"That's a relief." Muyo thought.

"It's coming from a dragon." Twilight said.

"A dragon?! Here?! There are dragons here?!" Muyo asked surprised.

"Yes, come, let's head back to the library." Twilight answered him.

"Go ahead! There's something I need to get." Muyo said to her.

He runs off to his house to find his unfinished book, he hurries over to Twilight's place and arrives just after AJ asks why there's a full grown dragon in Equestria.

"I'm here!" Muyo says as he enters.

"Good, now to answer AJ, the dragon is sleeping." Twilight said.

They all give her a "Huh?"

"According to princess Celestia he's taking a nap, his snoring is what's causing all the smoke." Twilight said.

"Why does this sound familiar? I swear there was something like that somewhere else, there was a samurai and this village, hmm." Muyo thought.

Pinkie Pie says that the dragon should see a doctor since it doesn't sound healthy, Rarity adds that at least he's not snoring fire and asks what are they meant to do about it, Dash claims that they are meant to give him the boot.

"We need to encourage him to take a nap somewhere else, princess Celestia has given us this mission and must not fail, if we do Equestria will be covered in smoke for the next 100 years." Twilight said.

"America and fossil fuel in a nutshell." Muyo thought.

"Talk about getting your beauty sleep." Rarity said.

"Alright everypony, I need you to gather supplies quickly, we have a long journey ahead of us, let's meet back here in less than an hour." Twilight told them.

"Ok girls and male buddy, you heard her, the fate of Equestria is in our hooves, do we have what it takes?" RD asked.

AJ, Rarity and Pinkie Pie head out to prepare, Muyo notices Fluttershy looking nervous.

"Fluttershy?" Muyo called to her.

"Y-Yes...?" She asked nervously.

"If it's too scary you can stay here, alright?" Muyo told her.

"T-Thank you Muyo." She said.

"We'll talk about it later, go prepare." Twilight said.

Fluttershy heads home to prepare.

"Maybe she should stay at home, I know how to handle a dragon." Muyo said to Twilight.

"That sounds great but I think you and Fluttershy can combine your knowledge." She said.

"True, but I don't want to push her." Muyo said.

"We won't, go prepare please." She said.

Muyo heads home to prepare but he still can't shake the feeling that Fluttershy is better off staying home, Muyo packs his dragon book, the Hylian Shield in case the dragon attacks, some rope and a crossbow in case of emergency, he meets with the others.

"Alright guys listen up, I'm mapping out the fastest route but we all got to keep a good pace if we expect to make it up the mountain by nightfall." Twilight said.

"M-Mountain?" Fluttershy asked.

"The dragon is in that cave at the top." Twilight said.

"Looks pretty cold up there." AJ said.

"You bet it is, the higher you go the chillier it gets." RD said.

"Good thing I brought my scarf." Rarity said as she puts it on.

"Yeah that'll keep you nice and cozy." RD said with a chuckle.

"I swear this whole dragon at the top of the mountain thing with the smoke and village is incredibly familiar, just without the samurai who's name escapes me." Muyo thought.

"Hey Muyo, where did you get that neat looking shield?" RD asked him referring to the Hylian shield.

"This? Just a memento from my time in Hyrule, it's fire proof so I figured I bring it." Muyo answered.

While Twilight looked at the map Fluttershy asked if she could stay but Twilight insisted that she comes, saying that her talent with wild animals will come in handy, she tells her that Spike can handle the animals, Twilight walks away from Fluttershy but couldn't here Fluttershy. Muyo and Dash approach Twilight.

"Are you sure you want Fluttershy to come along? I mean that pony is afraid of her own shadow, she's just gonna slow us down." Dash said to Twilight.

"I have to agree." Muyo said.

She's just a little nervous, once we get going I'm sure she'll be fine." Said Twilight.

"Alright everypony, let's move out!" Twilight said.

The approach the mountain base and hear a loud snore.

"That's how it sounds like when a dragon snores." Twilight said.

"I-It's so... High." Fluttershy said.

"Well it is a mountain, I'm gonna fly up there and check it out." RD said.

AJ grabs her and pulls her down.

"Hold on now, I think we should all go up there together, safety in numbers." AJ said.

"Oh alright." RD groaned.

"I hear that the only thing that sparkles more than a dragon's scales are the jewels they use to build their nest, oh maybe if I play my cards right I can convince him to part with a few." Rarity said.

"Sheesh, greed much?" Muyo asked mentally.

"Welcome to my cave Rarity, care for a diamond? Rraarr!" Pinkie Pie said imitating the dragon.

They laugh a little.

"Girls this is no laughing matter." Twilight said.

"Fluttershy, your the expert on wild creatures, and Muyo you know something about dragons, what do you think the dragon will be like?" Twilight asked.

"Um Twilight, look." Muyo said to her pointing behind them.

"Fluttershy?" Twilight asked.

"Hey! What are you waiting for? An invitation" RD asked.

"Oh! I think I have one in my bag." Pinkie said.

"I-It's so... Steep." Said Fluttershy.

"Well it is a cliff, you can just I dunno, fly up here?" RD said.

"Come on Fluttershy, you can do it, flap those wings." Pinkie said to her as encouragement.

"O-Ok..." She responded.

Fluttershy successfully flies up but the snore scared her, causing her to fall on a bush.

"We don't have time for this." Twilight groaned.

AJ grabs the map, Twilight asked what she's doing.

"I'll need this if I'm gonna take her around the mountain another way." AJ answered.

"Around the mountain? That's gonna take them forever." RD groaned.

AJ assures them that they'll be there lickety split, Rarity and Pinkie play a game which Rarity loses 35 times in a row, AJ finally makes it.

"Told you it was gonna take them forever." RD whispered.

"At least they made it." Muyo whispered.

They continue onward until they reached a gap, they jump to the other side but Fluttershy stays behind, too scared to go over it, Pinkie jumps over it multiple times, convincing her to jump but she looks down and gets stuck. After getting her to their side they continue onward, Muyo still worries about Fluttershy. They continue through an avalanche zone, as they continue a leaf touches Fluttershy, causing her to scream avalanche.

"Aw crud." Muyo muttered.

An avalanche occurs, Muyo and the others avoid the falling rocks, Muyo spots Twilight and runs towards her while avoiding rocks, she shouts help and Muyo jumps to save her life, the rocks stopped falling.

"Is everypony alright?" Muyo asked.

"Thanks to you I am." Twilight answered Muyo while giving him a tight hug.

Rarity shakes the dust off and puts on her extra accessory.

"Please tell me I brought the tiara that goes with this." Rarity said.

"I think we have bigger problems than making sure our hair boss match our horse shoes." RD said.

Fluttershy apologizes.

"Aw no big whoop sugar cube." AJ said.

"Yeah, we'll just have to *sighs* climb over." Twilight said.

"Let's go, I'll stay behind you in case you slip." Muyo said.

Twilight and Dash reach the other side but Fluttershy slips, falling on AJ and Rarity, Muyo helps them up. They approach the cave while RD asks Twilight if she still thought that bringing Fluttershy along was a good idea, Twilight responded that they were about to find out. Twilight gives commands to each of them except Muyo, saying that it won't come to that because Fluttershy will do what she needs to do to wake him up and that between the two of them they should make him understand why he needs to go.

"Is everypony ready?" She asks.

They nod yes.

"What about me?" Muyo asked.

"I want you to come with us, with that shield of yours we'll be safe." Twilight answered.

Both of them go inside the cave.

"So, what is the best way to wake a sleeping dragon without upsetting him?" Twilight asked.

"Honestly? There isn't." Muyo answered.

"What do you think Fluttershy?" She asks but notices that Fluttershy is not with them.

"Oh come on." Twilight groaned.

They go outside and try to push her in but she says that she can't go in because she's afraid of dragon.

"But you have a wonderful talent dealing with all kinds of animals." Twilight said.

"Yes because they aren't dragons." Fluttershy replied.

"Oh come on! We've seen you walk up to a horrible Manticore like it was nothing." RD said.

"Really?!" Muyo asked surprised.

"Yes because he wasn't a dragon." Fluttershy replied.

"Spike is a dragon, your not scared of him." Pinkie said.

"Yes because he's not a huge, gigantic, terrifying, enormous, smoke snoring, could eat a pony in one bite, totally all grown up dragon." Fluttershy replied.

"But if you're so afraid of dragons, why didn't you say something before we came all the way up here?" Twilight asked.

"I was afraid too." Fluttershy said.

"All of us are afraid of that dragon." AJ said.

"I'm not." Said RD.

"Neither am i." Said Muyo.

"Almost all of us are afraid of that dragon, but we got a job to do, so get in there with Twilight and Muyo and show them what your made of." AJ said.

Fluttershy couldn't bring herself to go in, Twilight and Muyo go in without her, Twilight tries to explain to the dragon why he needs to go after introducing themselves, they fail to persuade so Rarity tries to charm him but her greed betrayed her and failed, Pinkie tried laughter but failed, RD gets impatient and flies to the dragon, kicking him and enraging him, he blows smoke at them, Muyo shields them with his shield but are pushed back. Fluttershy stands up to the dragon and chastised him like a mother to a child, making him cry but convinces him to leave. Finally the smoke cleared and they returned home, Muyo goes with Twilight to her home and writes the report. They see Dash attempt the world record but is scared by Pinkie Pie.

"That was quite the adventure." Muyo says to Twilight.

"It was... Thanks again for being there, you are sweet you know that?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah." He answered while finishing the book.

"What's that book about?" Twilight asked.

"A Dragonology book I've been writing for years." He answered.

"Can i see?" Twilight asked.

"Not yet, it's not done." He answered.

"Alright, let me know when it's done." She says to him.

Muyo nods and heads home.
