It All Started

Previous Chapter

Three months earlier in Canterlot...

The streets of Canterlot were busy as thousands of pony citizens went to work, went to live their royal life, or payed a visit to the castle where Princess Celestia, the ruler of Equestria, lived at and served her citizens. Everypony in Canterlot was always busy with their everyday business, from working at the bar to running their own business. Vinyl Scratch was even doing her usual everyday business, and what I mean by everyday business, she's not working on a new album, she's not out doing a remix with other ponies, she is sleeping.

Why would she be sleeping? You must not know Equestria's number one party animal.

Vinyl lives in a single bedroom apartment somewhere in downtown Canterlot, her apartment consists of what seems hundreds, even thousands of bottles of cider all around the room. The room smelled of cider, sweat, and other various smells that I would rather not explain. Vinyl was slouched on her couch with a bottle of cider in her hoof, her glasses still over her red and tired eyes, and in her other hoof was a piece of paper that had somepony's number on it.

Vinyl awoke very slowly and the first thing she saw was the bottle of cider that still had some left in it, so she drank the rest of it and threw the bottle at the wall, shattering it into a million pieces, which is what Vinyl's head felt like as she became conscious.

"Oh... My head..." Vinyl groaned as she held her head, "Agh.... What a night.... How late did I... Ow...." she continued groggily. Vinyl looks over at the clock, it is 12:30 PM and she only has several hours before she puts on another party at a local bar. Vinyl stands up slowly from the couch with the number in her hoof, she looks at the paper and smiles gently, "Well..." Vinyl started, "It wasn't a bad night after all." She places the paper on the coffee table in front of her and heads for the shower. "Ugh.... I have another party in awhile and... I need to be ready for it..."

About 30 minutes later Vinyl steps out of the bathroom with her mane down the way she likes it and her glasses were resting on her head. Vinyl heads over to her kitchen and grabs a box of oats, some milk, a bowl, and trots over to the coffee table where she has little room to eat, so she eats on the couch. Vinyl takes a bite of her oats and feels better as food travels down her throat, ridding the pain of her headache slowly, but the pain comes back as she looks down at the paper with a number on it; she didn't know who's number it was, but it made her hurt inside to see another pony's number travel with her home. Every time Vinyl came home with another pony they would get into a relationship, soon the pony she was with would come live with her in the apartment, but when all things get comfortable the roommate begins to yell at Vinyl constantly for partying and drinking at night. It was Vinyl's occupation! Well... Not the drinking part, that's just extra. Vinyl and her roommate would start to fight constantly and then... The roommate would leave forever, never to return to Vinyl's loving hooves.

She starts to remember a relationship she was in and Vinyl made a promise that she would stop drinking as long as she is with this mare. Vinyl and the mare she was with had it going good for awhile, until she moved in with Vinyl. When the mare moved in, Vinyl didn't know that her lover was a drinker, a very heavy drinker, and when she would drink.... She was violent. Vinyl would come home from a party and there was her lover, on the couch with tons of cider on the coffee table and one in her hoof. It surprised Vinyl the first time, but the second time it made her cry. The mare on that one night Vinyl remembers tried to kill her. The mare had smashed a few bottles and forced Vinyl on the ground, trying to cut Vinyl into a million pieces, but as she was doing this... The mare raped Vinyl...

Tears started to run down Vinyl's face as she cried softly. "Why..." she asked softly. She took her bowl and threw it in the sink in anger, smashing it into nothing but glass shards. She got up, grabbed the paper she received the previous night, and ran out the door crying in pain. Vinyl approached the outside world, downtown Canterlot and started to walk down the sidewalk, she had remembered that she had to go to the store to get some cider and aspirin as she walked.

It was a cloudy and rainy day in Canterlot, which didn't help Vinyl's mood at all. The streets weren't filled as much as they would be on a regular sunny day, everypony in Canterlot was already inside enjoying the dryness and warmth of their homes. It almost seemed like Vinyl was the only pony on the streets.

Vinyl began talking to herself softly, "No pony knows how to treat me right... No pony is ever nice to me when we go out... They are all either cheaters or fucking liars! FUCK! This city doesn't have anypony for me here... I hate it here sometimes, but I have to keep strong or I'll always be like this. Depressed, sad, in pain, crying a lot and etc." She looks down at the paper, "I swear, if this bitch dumps me because she doesn't like me being me, she can fuck herself and I will never accept another chance with another mare or stallion. No more chances with Vinyl Scratch..."

Vinyl approached the store and went in. She headed down the alcohol aisle to grab a box of cider and conveniently, there was a container of aspirin next to the cider. "How ironic..." Vinyl said exasperatedly as she took the aspirin and trotted towards the checkout. She set her supplies onto the belt and looked up at the cashier, she gasped as she saw who the cashier was, it was her friend Lyra. Lyra looked at Vinyl and gasped. "VINYL!" she shrieked as she went up to Vinyl to hug her. "Long time no see! How have you been?"

Vinyl smiled softly, "I've been alright. Been partying as usual, you know I gotta keep ponies on their feet and keep them shaking their flanks." she chuckles.

Lyra laughed along with her friend, "Oh Vinyl." Lyra said with a smile, "You always knew how to make everypony laugh and yes of course, keep us partying till we drop." Lyra looks behind Vinyl and starts inspecting her.

Vinyl laughs, "What are you doing Lyra?"

"Where is your roommate?" Lyra asks.

Vinyl looks down and a tear drops from her cheek hitting the floor. Lyra watches the tear drop and hugs Vinyl tightly. "I'm so sorry Vi-Vi." Vinyl hugs Lyra back tightly and tears begin to roll down her cheeks again. Lyra back up a little and wipes the tears off of her crying friend, "Hey, it's okay. You'll find a mare or stallion that will treat you right Vi-Vi, I promise. You are the most talented, beautiful, kindest, and sweetest mare ever! Who wouldn't want you?" Lyra says to cheer up her friend while blushing slightly.

Vinyl looks up with a smile, "Thanks Lyra, you always know what to say when I get down. You've done that since magic kindergarten, I'm so glad you are my friend." Lyra smiles at her friend and scans Vinyl's items. Vinyl grabs the bags and hands Lyra the bits she owes her.

"I... Vi-Vi?" Lyra asks shyly.

Vinyl turns around, "Yeah Lyra?"

"I-If there's anything that I can do, p-please give me a call." Lyra says with a bigger blush.

Vinyl doesn't notice the blush, "Sure thing." She smiles, "Oh wait! Do you think you can come to the party tonight? It would be nice if your boss let you off of work early so you can come to the party." Lyra looks up beaming, "Really?!" Vinyl flinches a little from her friends sudden out burst. Lyra clears her throat, "I mean.. Yeah, I-I think m-my boss won't mind i-if I take off work e-early." Vinyl smiles and grabs her bags, "Great! See you at the party!" she says excitedly as she goes out the door.

Lyra looks down, her face as red as it can be. "This... This could be my chance." she says softly.
