Negative Anger Within Kindness

It was a peaceful day in Ponyville. The birds sung, the sun shined, and many ponies were outside to enjoy the day.

The Mane 6 on the other hand were inside the library owned by Princess Twilight Sparkle, who had asked her friends to come over to help her reorder her books after she had a little magic accident causing the library to shake and all the books tumbling onto the floor. Her friends were more than happy to help her and her assistant Spike and were making great progress. Fluttershy was handling books on the bottom rows, and Rainbow Dash was handling books on the top rows above Fluttershy and were both in the same room. Rarity was shelving books in the other room in the library on the top rows with her magic and Pinkie Pie was shelving books on bottom rows. Applejack was also helping pick up books and stacking them next to Rarity and Pinkie Pie to make room. Spike and Twilight took the stacked books and placed them in the right places.

Rainbow Dash started to notice something a little odd about Fluttershy. While she was shelving books, she had a face that didn't look like she was happy but she didn't look like she was angry or annoyed either. It looked emotionless.

"Yo Fluttershy. Are you ok?" Rainbow Dash asked her friend who looked up to Rainbow Dash to reply.

"What?...oh yeah...I'm fine." She replied putting on a smile. Rainbow Dash then shrugged off her worries and got back to work. She didn't realize her wings were in the way of the shelved books and one of her wings knocked a book off the shelf and was falling to land on Fluttershy. Dash tried to catch the book but was too late and the book fell onto Fluttershy's head.

"Oww!" Yelled Fluttershy as the book came in contact with her head. Thankfully the book wasn't a heavy book and it didn't land on a corner part of the book. She rubbed the spot where the book hit her head with her hooves and Dash flew down to check on her.

"Fluttershy! Oh man I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Are you ok?" Dash asked, worried. Normally Fluttershy would have shrugged it off as an accident but instead, she stood there rubbing her head.

"Um, hello? Fluttershy? Are you there?" Dash asked this time annoyed. Fluttershy then looked at Rainbow Dash but she didn't look very happy. In fact, she looked angry.

"Sorry? Sorry!? You need to be more careful you stupid klutz!" She yelled. This was a surprise to Rainbow Dash as she did not expect that kind of reaction from her kindhearted friend. The other ponies went in to see what was going on.

"K-klutz?" Was all Rainbow Dash could say to her yellow friend.

"Yes! Klutz! K-L-U-T-Z! KLUTZ!" She yelled at her friend. "You can be a really big idiot at times Rainbow." She yelled again. The normally kind and caring pony was being thh opposite of what she is. The other ponies had there mouth agape until Twilight stepped in to say something.

"Fluttershy? Why are you so upset? All she did was accidentally drop a book on your head. She didn't mean no harm."

Fluttershy did not say anything instead she just stood there facing Rainbow Dash who wasn't looking very happy at the moment. She looked like she was gonna cry and was in total disbelief. She would never expect this kind of behavior from somepony like Fluttershy.

"Oh what you gonna cry? You gonna cry now? Good. It would fit your sorry flank pretty well. Face it Rainbow, you suck. And I'm pretty sure the Wonderbolts would never work with a lazy, pathetic pony like you who can't even watch WHERE, SHE, FLYS!"

That did it. The insults came in like slaps to the face and caused Rainbow Dash to leak, much to her friends surprise and horror. Twilight decided to step in again.

"That is enough Fluttershy! I don't know what in the world has gotten into you but...Fluttershy?"

The anger Fluttershy had slowly started to shimmer down and she then realized what had happened. When she saw her rainbow maned friend in the state she's in, it broke her heart. She ran over to Rainbow Dash and embraced her in a hug while crying, much to her friends confusion.

"Dashie! I'm so sorry about how I a-acted there. I didn't m-mean to snap like that and say those horrible things to you. I'm a terrible friend!" She said in between sobs. Dash returned the hug, tears still in her eyes.

"Shh. Its ok Flutters. I know you didn't mean to snap like that. And your not a terrible friend, but what made you do that in the first place is what I wanna know." She said as Fluttershy started to calm down.

"That's t-the thing. I don't know why. I never get mad like this at any of my friends. This is the third outburst I had like this in the last two days."

"Third outburst?" Applejack questioned. "Ya mean ya had another one of those outbursts before?"

"Yes. One yesterday, and one today not counting the one that just happened. But, those weren't nearly as bad as how I acted today. G-girls, I-i think I'm becoming a m-monster..." She said as she put her hooves over her eyes.

"You are most certainly not Fluttershy. We all  know that deep down, you are the kindest pony in all of Equestria and our best friend and we're gonna help you get through whatever problem it is you're having right now." Rarity said earning a smile and nod from everypony. Fluttershy took her hooves off her eyes and smiled at her friends.

"Thank you girls and...again, I'm sorry about my little outburst. Especially you Dashie."

"It's nothing Flutters. So what do you think caused these outbursts you keep having?"

"Well, yesterday, I went to the Everfree Forest to find some special flowers to make a stew, but maybe I ran into some kind of poison while I was in there, like that poison joke." Fluttershy said.

"Well if it is poison joke, then why isn't your voice deep?" Pinkie added, causing a small blush to appear on Fluttershy's cheeks.

"Ok so maybe it's not poison joke, but it could be a different kind of poison."

"That's true...Why don't we see a doctor and maybe he can tell you why your acting this way?" Twilight suggested. Fluttershy thought about this until she agreed to go. They all left out the door but Twilight stopped to ask Spike a favor.

"Spike, can you finish shelving the books for  me?"

"Can do Twi! There's not a lot left to shelve anyway." He said with a salute. Twilight then left with her friends to help Fluttershy out with her case.

At the Doctor's office, Fluttershy was being examined by a doctor named Dr. Feelbetter, a blue colored pony with a black mane and a shining heart for a cutie mark. They were in a white room that was somewhat larger compared to the average office. After a few tests, Dr. Feelbetter called in one of her friends to discuss why she's acting this way. Twilight was the one who walked in much to Dr. Feelbetter's surprise who immediately bowed when he saw the princess.

"There is no need for bowing Dr. Feelbetter. I already had enough of that in the waiting room."

"Oh I apologize Princess, and you can call me Dr. Better for short. Anyway, I have found out the reason why Fluttershy here is having these outbursts."

"Is it poison joke?" Twilight asked?

"No."

"A type of poison in the Everfree Forest?" Fluttershy added.

"No. Not even close. Its negative magic." He said.

"Negative magic?" They both said.

"Yes. It is magic that can cause ponies minds to corrupt and other side effects depending on how you get it. It's a rare sickness that can happen anywhere and to anypony, including pegesi and earth ponies. It can even cause you to do things you normally wouldn't do depending on how you catch it."

Hearing this, Fluttershy started to panic a bit with the thought on being a pony with a corrupted mind, or even a monster.

"Has something like this ever happened before?" Twilight asked.

"Yes. We had very few cases like this with negative magic due to the rareness of it happening but those cases were easy to handle for us. This case may be a little harder to deal with though." He said sadly.

"I-is there a cure? There must be!" Fluttershy stuttered.

"And your right. There is a cure for negative magic." He said causing Fluttershy to calm down somewhat.

"Oh thank Celestia." Twilight said.

"However, This cure has to take time to develop after being made. We already have pre made cures which haven't been developed yet because if we did let the cure develop and held onto it, in a few days, the nutrients within it will die and it would become completely useless." He added.

"How long does it take to develop?" Twilight asked.

"It takes a week, sometimes a little less to fully develop into a useable cure for the magic." He added. "Now I'm gonna ask you a few questions."

"Ok" Fluttershy said.

"You said that these outbursts started yesterday right?"

"Yes...why?"

"What did you do the day before that?"

"Well, me, Twilight, and my friends were cleaning up Princess Celestia and Princess Luna's old castle but then Twilight's assistant Spike had this comic book and he was getting sucked in it. We tried to pull him out but we got sucked in too."

"Wait, comic book? Would the comic book happen to be one of those "enchanted" comic books from Canterlot?"

"Yeah those." Fluttershy replied.

"I see...tell me more about this comic you got sucked into."

Fluttershy sat there explaining to Dr. Better what happened in the comic, what it was about, the Mane-iac and how her super power in it was to turn into a muscular monster when angry.

"That's it!" He exclaimed.

"What's it?"

"Now we know where you got the negative energy from, and why you get more angrier then usual when upset. A trace of negative magic must have left with you or you must have gained the negative magic when in the comic. Maybe when you transformed?"

"Or maybe..." Fluttershy murmured to herself as she tried to remember what possibly could have given her negative magic.

"I wonder...when the Mane-iac shot the beam at me...could that be it?"

"Possibly, but right now there's something I should warn you about your negative magic." He said as Fluttershy and Twilight listened.

"The negative magic in your case, can only be activated when angered, similar to your power in that comic book you were talking about. Every time you get angry, you get angrier then usual because the activation of negative magic grows every time it's activated. This is also why your body doesn't grow because there isn't enough negative magic to activate it. Like I said before, the magic can corrupt your mind when it happens and the more negative magic you have, the worse it can get when it activates."

This put Fluttershy in a serious state of panic and worry as she had no intentions on lashing out on her friends and didn't want something to happen to them.

"Oh my! Wh-what should I do? I don't wanna hurt my friends!"

"Simple Fluttershy. In your case, the best way to help lower your anger and keep it under control is by keeping calm and staying happy at all times. As long as you don't act or feel angry, you wont have an outburst like that." Dr. Better said. Fluttershy started to calm down somewhat as she understood the situation well as well as Twilight did.

"Thank you Dr. Better. Well do our best to keep Fluttershy calm and happy as possible long enough for you to get the cure ready for her." Twilight said.

"You are very welcome Princess Twilight." He said with a bow.

"Like I said earlier, there is no need to bow. Next week, I'll come by to pickup the cure when it's ready."

"Ok then. Have a good day you two, and Fluttershy, remember, think positive thoughts, and keep calm at all times. Also, try not to worry about it happening, that can help. You can do this Fluttershy. If you need my help, let me know."

"Ok Dr. Better. Have a good day as well." Fluttershy said as she stepped out of the door with her friend.
