The Dark Guardians
Secrets and History
Previous ChapterNext Chapter‘A-a hit?!” Fluttershy asked in a very surprised voice.
“Yes. 10,000 bits to whoever kills Twilight.” Rainbow said back in a disgusted voice. The two couldn’t believe it.
“W-Who would ever do that?” Fluttershy asked her in curiosity.
“Don’t know. She’s made a lot of enemies over the years. It’ll be hard to figure it out.” Rainbow replied. She looked over and picked up an old katana that her family had used for countless generations and how it’s jewel encrusted sheath was shining in the rising sunlight. She sighed as she put it back down and made sure her kimono was tied real good to her waist.
“W-what do we do?” Fluttershy asked her.
“I am going to my sensei’s place. You are going to have to make up a story to explain where I’m going I don’t want to be bothered okay Flutters?” Rainbow replied to Fluttershy.
“Alright. I-I’ll try.” She said as she tapped her fingers together. Rainbow smirked a bit as she walked out of the Dojo’s door and onto the streets. As she walked to her sensei’s home, she wondered who would want to kill Twilight.
Discord, no even he’s not that insane. Chrysalis, surely but she would need a good reason. Trixie, has a motive, but she’s not anywhere near Twilight. She thought as she rounded out the suspects. She continued this until she came to a Neighponese style house which was the home of her sensei. She knocked on the door several times before an elderly unicorn stallion opened it.
“Ah. It’s been awhile since my prized pupil paid me a visit.” The old stallion said gingerly. Rainbow giggled a little as she bowed before entering the house. She followed the old stallion who walked slowly with cane made from an old stick of hard bamboo. She walked behind him until they came across a table with two pillows at the floor and on the table was a kettle with two cups sitting next to it. “So why did you come? I doubt it was for pleasantries Rainbow San?” He asked her. Rainbow nodded before responding.
“Sensei…. you said somepony placed a bounty on my friend Twilight Sparkle right?” The old stallion nodded. “I just wanted to know, from you, who would do this? You have to know-” the old stallion chuckled a little.
“Ah just as eager as when you first entered my dojo all those years ago. Though, I might add, less sad and angry as you were back then.” The stallion said as he smacked his lips.
“I know sensei. But who was it that placed the bounty?” She asked with concern in her voice.
“Rainbow San, the egg even with light, will not hatch without time.” He said as he poured some tea into the two glasses.
“What does that mean?” She asked as she grabbed a cup.
The stallion took a sip before answering “The answer will come to you in time. And then, your answer will hatch.” Rainbow only groaned at what he said. She loved her sensei as she ever loved her own parents but he could be so annoying at times. She then walked towards the back of his home and pulled a hidden latch. It opened up a door that was hidden somewhere in the bamboo walls, revealing a shadowy hallway. She grabbed one of the candles that sat next to her and began to walk through it. The dim light revealed on the walls paintings of Neighpon.
They showed ancient warlords battling with armies, ninjas on buildings, and samurais locked in combat. She loved the paintings ever since she first walked down the hallway. She stopped for a bit when she saw a painting of her ancestor, Rioichi Dash. He was one of the best ninjas in his clan for his incredible speed and amazing stealth skills. Taking her hand, she rubbed the painting of the ninja, feeling as if his power flows through her. She sighed in sadness before removing her hand and continued her walk. She looked towards another object in the room and saw one of the oldest and strongest swords in her clans history.
“The Blade of Orochi. Carved from the claw of the Dragon Demon Orochimaru, edged with a fang of all eight of Orochi’s heads, legends say it could level a mountain with one swing.” A voice said making Rainbow jump forward. She turned and saw the old stallion who was giggling a bit. “Did I startle you my pupil?” He asked her. Rainbow merely rolled her eyes as she turned to leave. “Rainbow San. Never forget that the shadows are always your ally and that hope comes from the most unlikely of sources.” He told her as she flashed her wings and took off towards Ponyville. The sensei sighed as a new ninja appeared from the shadows.
“Why didn’t you tell her sensei?” The pony asked him.
“Because she’s not ready for you yet. The news may make her…. unfit for her duty Dust Storm.” He said back.
“But-”
“Enough. Now come, we’ve got to find out who targeted Twilight Sparkle.” He said as he began to walk up to the main part of his house.
As Rainbow flew back to Ponyville, she felt as if she had something more important and mysterious that she never knew it in her life. But then, a flash of light appeared blinding her.
“Rainbow Uzimaki Dash.” The voice said. Rainbow turned towards the light but doing so made it intensify more so.
“WHO THE BUCK?!” The cyan blue mare shouted at the light.
“I am…. an old friend. Tonight is not safe for Twilight Sparkle. She must be moved to a safer haven, suffice to say she may not be willing. Celestia above knows her ancestor was just as stubborn as she knows.” It replied to Rainbow. She had little time to register what it just said when the flash soon ended leaving Rainbow alone on the open air. She turned her head before starting to fly again. As she flew, she wondered in her mind Who in Equestria was that? And how did he know me?
Back in Ponyville, the Dojo that Fluttershy was running as Rainbow was out was finally coming to a closing time. Fluttershy smiled and waved as the students ran out of the doors and into the streets. As soon as the last one left, she closed the doors of the building and sighed.
Another teaching day come and gone. I wonder what Rainbow is up to. She thought as she walked back over to her desk. She picked up her things and was about to leave when Rainbow landed in front of the Dojo.
“RAINBOW!” Fluttershy gasped. The cyan blue mare pushed open the doors and headed towards the back of the Dojo. Fluttershy followed her to the back and into the hidden lab where all their gear was placed. “Well what did your Sensei tell you?” Fluttershy asked her friend.
“Nothing yet. Whoever it is has to be pretty well connected to be hidden from Sensei. I also had a, ugh, history lesson with him, I swear if he were younger you’d think he was Twilight.” Rainbow joked a little. The two pegasi soon arrived at the area where the outfits were placed. The two went to their stations and began to change.
Fluttershy took off her shirt and jogging pants and quickly placed on her black and yellow striped kimono. She grabbed her black mane dye and smeared it into her mane and tail turning it shadow black. She then grabbed her mouth guard which was yellow and made of leather and placed it on her muzzle, with that Fluttershy vanished and in her place stood Silent Flight: Mistress Of Knives. Rainbow then took off her current kimono and replaced it with a light armored black and blue striped outfit. She grabbed her own mane dye and turned her whole mane and tail dark as shadow as well. She then tied her mane back into a ponytail and slipped it through the hole on her hood. She finally grabbed a metal mouth guard that was light blue and placed it over her muzzle, the moment the guard was placed on her face Rainbow followed in Fluttershy's footsteps and vanished as Swift Dash took her place.
Silent Flight then moved over to her weapons station and grabbed her black eggs which were filled with crushed glass, her knife, and her claws which she slipped on. Swift Dash grabbed her Kusarigama, her katana, and also a few throwing stars. As she placed the last star into it’s spot she gave Flight a quick talk through of their mission tonight.
“Okay Silent Flight here’s the deal. I hate to say it but Twilight isn’t going to be safe in the library for a while so we need to bring her here…. no matter what understood?” Rainbow asked her friend who nodded without hesitation. “Remember we don’t exist so make sure no pony sees you got it?” The yellow mare nodded again. Rainbow, no Swift Dash, smiled under her mouth guard as she headed out through the back door way and into the dark, cold night.
