Chapters "You're fired!" Said the stern voice of Filthy Rich at an earsplitting volume.
"But Daddy!" Whined a pinky filly with the stomp of her hoof. Filthy turned to the pink filly, his eyes narrowed. "No buts Diamond Tiara. I will not have a lower class foal-sitter for you." Though Filthy didn't care much for his daughter, he would not tolerate lower class ponies in his household.
"Ugh! You are so unfair!" The filly called Diamond Tiara whined some more, watching as the cream earth pony trotted swiftly out the door with her head bowed. "Who's gonna watch me now?" Tiara asked, narrowing her eyes and glaring at her father.
"Until I find you a good foal-sitter, you're going to have to stay with somepony in Ponyville. It's just for today." Filthy said with a sigh. Tiara groaned again. "What-ever! " She said, keeping her eyes narrowed and fixed on her father.
"Let's go." Said Filthy who was already almost out the door.
"Why can't one of the butlers watch me?" Diamond asked as she reluctantly trudged after her father.
"Usually they would, but there are some on vacation and there are just enough to run the house." Rich replied, sounding annoyed with his daughter and her bothersome questions.
"Well what about Silver Spoon?" Tiara asked, her mood lightening up. The thought of staying with her best friend for the day made her smile. With a shake of his head, Filthy replied. "They're currently in Canterlot, remember? "
"Oh..yeah.." The pink princess replied, her ears drooping.
Filthy Rich rapped on the door of the library, which was opened almost immediately by a short purple and green dragon. "Gah!" He exclaimed upon seeing Diamond. "I mean uh..do you guys need to see Twilight?" The baby dragon asked, looking up at Filthy who towered above him with a cold stare. "That would be superb." Filthy replied, his eyebrow raising as he watched the young dragon scuttle inside while calling for Twilight.
Moments later, the purple unicorn appeared at the door. "Hello Filthy! Hello Diamond Tiara!" She greeted with a slightly nervous smile. Had she forgotten to pay library bills?!
"I prefer Rich. " Replied the greasy maned stallion, as usually did to ponies who called him 'Filthy'. It was just plain insulting!
"Hehe...anyway, what can I help you to with?" Twilight asked, scratching the back of her head with a hoof as if she was trying to remember something. Diamond Tiara stretched her neck so she could peer into the library. Ugh, it's waaaay too nerdy. Even if Twilight lets me stay here I won't! The spoiled filly thought to herself, looking up at the baby blue sky with her eyes narrowed. Why was the weather so happy when she wasn't? Didn't the world revolve around her?
"I need a foal-sitter for Diamond Tiara. Just for today while I go off on a meeting." Rich explained.
"Oh, well I don't know.." Twilight trailed off before asking, "What happened to the old sitter?"
"Daddy fired her." Tiara said, turning her gaze from the sky to the purple unicorn who was standing before her and her father.
"O-oh, well I would I really would but I...I gotta.." Twilight began, but couldn't finish.
"We have library work to do!" Chimed in Spike before he slammed the door shut. Filthy sighed loudly and shook his head, turning around. Next place to go, Sweet Apple Acres. Surely they'd take Diamond in, since their families had strong connections.
Diamond and Filthy made their way down the road towards Sweet Apple Acres, both of them seeing the tall red barn come into view. Tiara rolled her eyes, hearing the giddy giggles of the Cutie Mark Lame saders. Great. The whole lame train is here. The pink princess said inwardly as she saw the CMC in the distance. Although she hated to admit it, they looked like they were having fun. Putting on a smug smile, Diamond walked side by side with her father elegantly, her eyes narrowed. Though she wasn't looking at the crusaders, she knew they saw her because their laughing stopped.
"Uh...Applejack!" Applebloom called. "We have uh, guests.." Seconds later, an orange earth pony trotted out of the barn, a wrench gripped in her teeth and her hooves stained with oil. "Howdy Filthy! I mean, Rich." She said, spitting out the wrench. "What can Ah do for y'all this fine morning?" The farmpony asked in her usual cheery tone.
"I need somepony to watch Diamond Tiara for the day." Rich explained, slicking back his greasy black mane with a hoof. Applejack's bright smile faltered, and she glanced back at the Cutie Mark Crusaders, who were rapidly shaking their heads. "Ah would but, I already got three here, and with Big Mac and Granny Smith checking our crop in Appleoosa, I'm afraid three is all Ah can handle." Applejack managed to deny Filthy's request while telling the truth. "Is that all partner?"
"Actually, I was hoping to discuss the Zap Apple Jam real quick." Rich said, following Applejack as she beckoned him inside. Once they were out of sight, Diamond grinned and narrowed her eyes, turning to the Lamesaders.
"Diamond, before ya say anythin, Ah just wanna ask you a question." Applebloom stated with a frown. Tiara rolled her eyes but decided to listen anyway. It may be something she could use against the trio of lame fillies. "What is it?" The princess asked with a roll of her bright blue eyes.
"Why can't ya just be friends with us?" The yellow filly began, followed by the nodding of Sweetie and Scoots. "You and Silver both. Y'all are just wastin your time bein mean, when we could all be friends!" Tiara tilted her head, her mouth turned in a small, thoughtful frown as to make the lamesaders believe she was considering their offer. Inwardly, she was grinning at their hopeful faces. After a moment of 'thinking' she smiled without the evil touch of narrowing her eyes. "Well..." The pink princess began but didn't finish. She couldn't wait to see their squees and jumps of joy as they thought there greatest enemy was going to befriend them.
Sweetie Belle was the first to react. With a great big leap and a loud squeal, the young unicorn skipped around Tiara as if they were friends already. "Yay yay yay! I can't believe this! Rarity is gonna be sooo happy!" The curly maned filly exclaimed, calmign herself down as she joined the other shocked lamesaders. After giving them a genuine smile, she added the 'evil touch' which was narrowing her eyes and turning the smile into a smug grin. "You didn't give me a chance to finish!" She said, beginning to circle the girls with the occasional wiggle of her flank, which held the biggest jewel of all: her cutie mark. "I mean seriously, first you interrupt me, rude! And then you think I'm actually going to be your friend." Tiara said, stopping her circling once she was face to face with the three.
"B-but.." Sweetie Belle began, but was cut off.
"No buts! I call the shots around here, and let me tell you I will never, ever, ever be friends with you pathetic blank flank losers. I mean, you might've had a chance, but then again, Silver and I can't let talentless ponies into our club, now can we?" The snobby pink earth pony finished just as her father walked out and began to head up the road, beckoning for Diamond to follow. With one last smug smirk, the filly let her words hang in the air as she joined her father.
"I can't believe her! Fooling us like that! Well, this isn't the last she's seen of the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" Scootaloo remarked angrily, clenching her hoof and shaking it in the air at Diamond as she usually did. Applebloom's ears drooped and she looked down. "It's just as well y'all, even if she did become our friend Ah'm sure Applejack wouldn't let her over the house, and Rarity wouldn't let her over your's Sweetie, ya know, after all she's done to us. What type of friends would we be if we never had her over?" Asked the yellow filly to her friends, trying to make them feel better.
"I guess you're right.." Sweetie Belle said, still looking at the ground. Scootaloo seemed to be the only one who wasn't that upset.
"Alright, enough of this saddy waddy stuff, lets go earn out cutie marks!"
Rich rapped on the door of Carousel Boutique, and his knock was quickly met with a loud, "Come in!" ,from behind the doors. He opened up the door and let Diamond inside before trotting in and shutting it. "Mrs. Rarity?" Filthy called, looking around. The fashionista was no where to be seen...
"Right here darling!" Came from the voice of Rarity, who was poking her head out from behind some curtains. "What can I help you with? Is little Tiara here having another party? Oh, I have the perfect dress for that! It would stunning with your mane darling." The white unicorn said, slipping out from behind the curtains and trotting over to Diamond, admiring her mane. Rich sighed silently then perked up his attitude. "Actually, no. I need a foal-sitter for Tiara, just for today though." He explained to Rarity, who seemed a little disappointed that she could not give her the outfit. Diamond saw this and even though Rarity was her enemy's older sister, she still liked her. Oh, and of course she wanted the dress. "I still want the dress." The pink filly replied, happy to see that Rarity smiled back.
"Well, I don't know about foal-sitting. The dress is fine but Opal..." The unicorn trailed off, looking around nervously for her persian cat, who was nowhere to be seen at the moment.
"Ugh, that raggedy old thing? Why don't you just get rid of her already?" Tiara asked impatiently, narrowing her eyes upon remembering how Opal disliked her.
Hsssss.. Rarity winced at the hissing sound and turned her head, seeing Opal, her fur raised and claws unsheathed. "O-Opal darling Tiara didn't mean raggedy in a bad way...r-raggedy is in this season don't you know?" She said, trying to calm her cat. But it was too late, the persian beast was already lunging at none other than Diamond Tiara. Luckily, the pink earth filly had seen this coming, so she had bolted out the door, which closed just in time. Opal crashed into the door with a groan.
"I really don't think this is a good idea.." Rarity said with a nervous chuckle as she picked up her hissing cat. Rich nodded and trotted out the door without another word. Tiara frowned when she saw him. "I still want the dress." She said before trotting nervously back inside. "Rarity?" The filly called through the open crack.
"Come in darling, I've put Opal upstairs." Rarity replied, opening the door the rest of her way with her magic. Tiara trotted inside, glancing back at her unhappy father. With a roll of her eyes, she closed the door and continued on her way inside. "Where's that dress?" She asked, looking around.
"Oh, yes! The dress! Just give me moment." The fashionable mare replied, rushing off to the back of her boutique. Seconds later she came back with a simple pink dress. Rarity must've seen the disapproving look on the pink filly's face, because she chuckled and said, "I'm going to add more, I'd just like to see it on you."
Before long, Diamond Tiara was in the dress, and Rarity was making quick alterations and adding lace, ribbon and jewels. "It's going to look fabulous, trust me!" She said, squinting her eyes through her glasses as she worked.
Opal was upstairs, prowling around the Rarity's room. Little did Rarity remember, there was a cat door. Opal, being a surprisingly smart cat, did not go through quite yet. She was waiting for the perfect chance to strike. Now was the time. The spoiled cat slipped through the flap with grace and silently padded down the stairs, creeping up on Diamond Tiara while her and Rarity were distracted. With a smug grin and a silent Hissss , she lunged at the purple maned filly. Before anypony knew what was happening, Opal had ripped through the dress and was now working on Diamond's tail.
"What is going on here!?" Rich demanded as he barged through the door. Rarity managed to grab Opal and pull her off of the poor pink filly. "I am so so so sorry darling..." She said while Opal clawed at the air, being held back by her blue magic bubble.
"All I wanted was a dress!" Tiara whined. Her once beautiful looking dress was now a complete fashion disaster! The fabric was torn up, ribbon and lace had been ripped to shreds. It looked like she just came off the streets.
"Well, I will certainly not have my daughter stay here with that vicious beast.'" Rich said, narrowing his eyes at Opal, who hissed and pawed at the air.
"I'm terribly sorry about that I really am." Rarity said guiltily. Tiara narrowed her eyes and kept them narrowed as she slipped off the ruined dress. "Whatever. Lets go.." She said as she trotted out the door wearing an annoyed expression on her usually smug face.
"I'll try and make it up to you darling!" Rarity called after them as they slammed the door shut.
Tiara was working on fixing her tail, pulling out the strands that had been ripped apart. "I'm never going there again!" She exclaimed. Usually she liked Rarity but now she hated her and her cat.
Filthy and Diamond were striding through the park, having just left Rarity's. Diamond was whining about the incident, and Filthy was mumbling to himself.
"Where are we like, going anyway?" The pink filly asked, looking at her annoyed father with her brow raised.
"I hear that Ms. Rainbow Dash usually floats around the area and that this time." Rich explained, not even looking at his arrogant daughter.
"Ugh! Not her! She's like, Scootaloser's sister or something, and she's way too hyper!" Hyper wasn't the best word to describe the rainbow maned mare, but it was all she could think of.
"Diamond Tiara, it will only be for a day!" The brown earth stallion hissed at his daughter, his patience obviously running short. "Now if you would please stop whining!" He demanded as the pair reached a small patch of clouds. Diamond sighed and mumbled under her breath about how she would die if she was seen with Rainbow 'Crash'.
"Ms. Rainbow Dash?" Filthy Rich called up to the cloud. A sky blue pegasus with a spiky rainbow mane looked down at the two with her hooves crossed. "Yeah?"
"Would you be so kind as to foal-sit Diamond Tiara for the day?" Mr. Rich asked in the nicest voice he could. Rainbow Dash sighed and shook her head. "As much as I would love to," The pegasus mare began, obviously being sarcastic. "I have to clear some clouds later, and then see Mayor Mare about the Weather Team. I'm kinda busy.." She stated, even though those two tasks wouldn't take long. The sky mostly cloudless, and Mayor Mare was a very reasonable mare for the most part. But she didn't want to foal-sit that brat of a pony, Diamond Tiara! In her defense, who would?
"Thank Celestia.." Tiara mumbled to herself under her breath. Filthy glared at her for a moment, as she had not spoken soft enough, then turned to back to Rainbow. "That is a shame. Thank you for your time." He said in a flat tone, then trotted off to Sugar Cube with Diamond Tiara trailing behind him.
Diamond knew where they were heading long before Filthy told her. "No Daddy! Please not her!" The filly complained, not wanting to spend a single moment with the hyperactive pink mare of Sugar Cube Corner. Pinkie Pie was too much!
"Diamond please!" Filthy raised his voice. "You have been complaining all day!" He couldn't stand her whining! Tiara groaned and rolled her eyes, her ears pinned as she followed her father into the sweet shop that strongly resembled a ginger bread house.
"Hi! What can I get ya? A cupcake maybe? Ooh! Ooh! We have a new pie of my own invention! It's tasty! Well, I think it's tasty, nopony else has tried it yet, wanna be the first!?" Pinkie was already at the counter, babbling on and on . Tiara did not want to spend one moment with her.
"Actually, we aren't here for sweets." Filthy said. "I was wondering if you could foal-sit little Diamond Tiara here for the day?"
"Oh, I would love to!" Pinkie exclaimed. Rich smiled. "That is great!"
"But I cant..." The pink earth mare said, her ears drooping slightly. "I'm running Sugar Cube Corner and watching Pound and Pumpkin Cake while the Cakes are at a bake contest! I'm veeeeery busy!" Pie said, then began to bounce her way to the back. "See ya!" And with that, she was gone.
"Yay!" The pink filly exclaimed, doing a little bounce. Filthy rolled his eyes and trotted out of the building. "Who else is there?" He asked himself, then remembered. There was one left..
"Like, where to next?" Tiara asked, getting bored of walking around aimlessly.
"Fluttershy's house."
