How I Will Miss You
Chapter Two
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“O-Oliver Men.” Oliver answered, hesitantly letting out his hand for a shake, mostly to see if she was real. Twilight let out her hoof, and in her movements, she had the same intention. As they touched, hand-to-hoof, they both flinched. She is real!? Oh lord! What do I do now? Go to a church? What? Oliver opened his mouth to talk again, but was interrupted by a squeal of joy.
The pink, seemingly only semi-normal pony, had jumped towards Oliver. Her hooves put on his cheeks as she spoke much too fast for comprehension.
“OhhimynameispinkiepieandIamsuperduperhappytomeetyou!” Oliver blinked, and looked to Twilight Sparkle. The Magenta pony just smiled, and shrugged.
“Just Pinkie Pie, being Pinkie Pie.” Twilight attempted to explain. Oliver had to take it, looking over to the pony smothering his cheeks with her cold hooves.
“Hey, my name is Oliver Men.” Oliver said, more calm than last time. He was barely getting a grasp of what was going on, but yet it seemed to simplify in his head. Twilight also barely making sense of this situation. She had forgotten how the three got there, but now there they were.
“Hi, I’m Ditzy Doo.” The Grey Pegasus finally saying after trying to have her own understanding she wasn’t in her imagination. Her voice seemed a little slow, and challenged to make some words out. But she smiled, and tilted her head. “I like muffins.” Oliver smiled at her. Now that his jump scare was over, he had to admit how adorable they were.
Pinkie Pie, sensing the tension in the room was over, jumped onto Oliver’s bed. Skipping up, and down on the bed she began to talk the same way she had done in her introduction.
“Soareyouamonsteroraprinceorsomethingsuperawesomelikesomewizardofadifferentracefro-” Twilight interrupted her with an audible question.
“What exactly are you, Mr.Oliver Men?” She questioned, finally taking a look around the room. The room was small to Oliver, but seemed to enthrall Twilight with the sheer size. She stopped, and levitated a picture towards herself. A picture of Oliver was on it, side hugging some older women. Oliver swooped the picture, and placed it back on the dresser it was originally on.
“I should be asking you the same question! I am a Human. A Homosapien, and obviously you must be some kind of horse.” Oliver felt he might regret that remark as Twilight Sparkle gasped. “I meant no offense what-so-ever by it, I swear. . . I just don’t know, what you are.” Oliver corrected. Ditzy Doo looked up towards the picture on the dresser, seemingly enthralled by the picture of Oliver, and the other women.
“We are ponies. Horse is an insult for. . . . Big ponies.” Twilight followed Ditzy Doo’s gaze. Pinkie Pie still hopping on the bed, ignoring the world around her as she repeats over and over again, “Wheee!”
“Who is that?” Twilight Sparkle finally asks, making Oliver look down to her, and Ditzy. Pinkie Pie landing next to the group, and rolled, her back side in the air, as her tail went in front of her face. She sat up right, and giggled.
“She was my Aunt.” Oliver answered. He walked past them, and went to sit in his bed to soak in all of the things bombarding him. Ditzy Doo tilted her head, and looked to Twilight Sparkle, who asked.
“What happened to her?” Oliver looked to Twilight, and decided to lay down.
“She died.” He didn’t feel like getting more into detail, and Twilight knew, it was not time to ask. Pinkie Pie jumped up on his bed, smiling as she looked at his eyes, her blue eyes almost piercing into his soul as he lifted a brow to the sudden behavior.
“And we are here, and we can be friends, and we can have adventures together! That sounds super duper fun!” Pinkie Pie smiled at her own imagination, as she layed in the human’s bed.
“Don’t you want to go back to- Where ever you came from?” Oliver sat up, looking at Pinkie Pie who just nodded. “But you are sad, and it is hard to be happy knowing somepony is sad. I’ll cheer you up! I know! Cupcakes! They make anypony happy!” Oliver blinked in confusion. He looked over to Twilight Sparkle, who he thought of, as the sanity catalyst of the trio. Twilight Sparkle just gave him a smile.
“I don’t know how we got here, in your world, but no need to stress over it. I hope you don’t mind, we might be here for a short while.” Twilight looked over the room again. It was pretty blank other than the picture of this Oliver, and his aunt. Though the walls had a smooth calm blue about them, it looked quite lonely. A single poster of a strange creature. It looked like Oliver’s race, except it wore some horned helmet, and it held in one hand a sword. The other hand was set ablaze by what looked like magic fire. In big silver letters the poster read “Skyrim”.
“Does your race use magic too?” She asked, mostly out of curiosity. Oliver had begun to stand up when she asked, and the question seemed to come out of nowhere.
“Uh, no. . . “ Oliver looked confused, but it soon dawned on him what started the topic.
“Oh, no. That’s just something someone came up with. It’s called a video game.” Oliver walked over to his dresser, and opened the top drawer, revealing a bounty of green cased disks. He pulled one out, but Twilight Sparkle was already next to him before he could turn to show it to her.
The cover startled Twilight as she first looked at it. A Giant Robot like machine stood, one hand opened, and the other was a drill. There was, what looked like, an evil little girl riding the giant robotic monster’s back. Though she was originally scared of the cover picture, Twilight found herself enthralled with it not that much longer. Oliver, sensing her sudden interest in the game, smiled. “Want to see what it is used for?” Twilight Sparkle nodded, and Pinkie Pie skipped over, looking at the cover too.
“Oh this looks scary! What does it do? How doesitworkdoesitshowimagesintoyourbrain like “PEW PEW PEW”?” Pinkie Pie smiled innocently, not knowing how confusing the question she just asked was. The last of the trio, Ditzy Doo, walked over to see what all the excitement was over. Her lazy eye struggling to straighten her gaze as Oliver showed her as well. The pegasus had a very different, and more frightened response. She meep-ed, and ran away, hitting her head on the dresser, she felt at her now sore head.
A small shattering sound, as on the floor was a sudden scatter of glass. Ditzy Doo looked to the mess, and frowned even more. Twilight walking over to help out the hurt mare, but Twilight’s touch was rejected as the mare went over to the shattered picture.
“I’m sowwy mister’” Oliver looked to the grey pegasus, her head hang down low as she tried to pick up the broken glass, and picture. Ditzy Doo was stopped by a human hand.
“It’s. . . . It’s fine. Not much of a problem, the picture is still intact. Here, I’ll sweep it up. Touching broken glass could cut your han- er - hooves.” Twilight Sparkle looked over to Oliver, who took a small broom, and dustpan from his closet. He swept up the glass, and put the picture back onto the drawer. Seeing his aunt in the picture made him happy again, yes he may be having either psychotic ponies who might destroy his home, or he was heavily hallucinating because of some shock from the knowledge he was going to. . . her smile gave him a sense of ecstasy. His aunt always had that effect on him, when she was alive the two did everything together. She was almost more of a mom than his “Birthgiver” was.
Oliver looked over to Ditzy Doo, who sat smiling. Twilight Sparkle looking at the case, and levitating it with her violet magic. Wait, where is Pinkie Pie? Oliver rushed out of the room, and looked into the kitchen. She was making a mess, throwing around random ingredients. Oliver had to duck as a few eggs were chucked towards him. Wait, where did she get eggs, he ran out yesterday.
A surge of anger filled Oliver, he opened his mouth to begin to yell at this pink pony who just ruined his kitchen, but his mouth suddenly filled with a surge of delicious flavor. He chewed a bit, and suddenly realized what he was eating. It was some kind of mini-cupcake, and it tasted like the heavens had brought down sugar and flour; pouring it into mount Etna, to cook in glorious blessed explosion of flavor.
The anger had slowly died, and Oliver was left wordless as he kept his finger up. Pinkie Pie just giggled as she hopped around him.
“Do you like it, do you like it?!” Pinkie Pie repeated as she hopped around the captivated Human.
“How did you even make this? All I had in my pantry was Hamburger Helper!” Oliver finally said, broken from his brainwashed state. Pinkie Pie just thought for a second, and just smiled.
“I don’t know!” She skipped back towards the room. Oliver looked around his trash kitchen. Batter caked the walls, and sugar was piled next to the fridge. An empty bag of flour sat on the counter, surrounded by the batter that was used in the cupcakes. Oliver took the moment of silence to think.
“What am I doing?” Oliver said. Sinking into his chair, he rubbed his forehead and looked to the t.v that was still on. The picture was playing some cartoon about a blue cat, and orange fish. Cartoons didn’t make much sense to Oliver anymore, and he barely knew why he even watched them anymore. He seemed to have some love/hate relationship with the children’s shows. Trying to feel a sense of childhood wonder, but the current ones were just getting worse and worse. The man looked around the living room of his apartment, which was connected to the now trashed kitchen.
What am I going to do? There are three little ponies in my home, and worse yet. . . They aren’t going to leave. . . Should I just tell them to go away? No that never works out well. Oliver’s train of thought being interrupted by the magenta pony’s voice.
“Can you show me how to use this?” Twilight Sparkle asked. She was curious about the case that Oliver left her to observe. Oliver took it in his hand, and looked at the cover. Opening up the case, and took the disk out of it. Twilight just observed in awe, as Oliver turned on his Xbox, and the tray opened with a sound of screaming motors. The disk was inserted, and the tray closed, making Twilight Sparkle trying to get a closer look at the mechanism.
Oliver smiled, impressed by the pony’s sudden skill at the Video game. She had only been playing for ten minutes, but yet she was blasting through the Video game. Twilight Sparkle was enthralled in a sense of total concentration. Her purple magic holding the controller with a strange grace that felt natural. Her sudden new addiction catching the attention of Pinkie Pie, who just sat next to Oliver, and watched along with the Human. Ditzy doo, though, was left out of the group. She cowered in Oliver’s jacket, and refused to sneak her entire head out, but did sneak a few peeks. Ultimately she was scared as she hid from the screen’s image. The time had slipped Oliver’s mind as he looked at the clock.
“Whoah it’s late. I got to get to bed.” Oliver stood up, and realized there was a pony in his jacket. She fell out, and made a “Omph” sound as she hit the chair. She looked up, and before Oliver could apologize she giggled, and smiled. Pinkie Pie smiling, and hopped off the chair of the chair, “Oh! Well it’s time to go to bed! Where do we sleep?” She asked, looking to Twilight Sparkle who was enthralled with her game.
Oliver scratched his goatee. He hadn’t thought of their sleeping spot. He would just shrug. “Why not on my bed? Just for the night.”
The colorful ponies would look at each other awkwardly. “All four of us? Your bed may be big, but so are you.” Twilight interjected, pausing the game and looking over to Oliver, who just smiled and shrugged.
“I’m sure there is enough room. Come on.” He went to walk into his room, but his pant leg was being pulled. He turned to see Ditzy Doo, who was biting down on the cloth. When she noticed she had Oliver’s attention she let go, and looked up to him.
“Dolly?” She asked. Pointing up to a little pony doll perched next to what looked like a lidded vase. Oliver frowned as he looked to the doll, remembering that being his Aunt’s favorite toy. The one she had ever since her childhood, and to her . . . . He looked back to Ditzy Doo, who had an adorable smile. He sighed, “Sorry Ditzy Doo. No.”
The Grey pegasus’s face changing to that of disappointment as she would begin to slowly walk away from the Human. Why do I have to be such a pushover.
“Here.” Oliver said as he lowered the doll toward Ditzy Doo, who smiled and hugged the doll tightly. “Thanks Owiver!” she slurred as she trotted happily to the room. The doll’s arm clenched in her teeth, which made Oliver almost regret giving it to her.
Twilight would yawn, and walked away from the Xbox. Oliver using the controller to turn it off, and Pinkie Pie skipping behind Twilight Sparkle. The Kitchen was spotless as Oliver went to turn off the light. Even the money that was scattered on the ground, was placed neatly stacked next to the cookie jar. Wait, when did I get a cookie jar? Oliver asked himself in his head, but he put the strange events to the side for another day. This was the end of this day, and he just wanted to lay down in his bed, and rest. He walked into his room, to see the three ponies placed delicately on his covers, already fast asleep.
Ditzy Doo curled around the doll, and was smiling brightly as her eyes had a relaxed blissful slumber present in the eye lids. Pinkie Pie was snoring a bit, but overall happy. Mumbling in her sleep about Rock Candy, or something else sweet and sugary. Twilight Sparkle the only one of the three who didn’t look at peace. Her eyes clenched tighter, and she seemed to be having a nightmare of some sort. Oliver Men smiled, and dared not to interrupt these ponies’ blissful slumber. He turned around, and closed the door silently behind him, and went over to his chair. Sitting down he gave a huff of breath he had no idea he was holding. He closed his eyes, and leaned back in his chair.
“I think I am going insane.” He said with a sense of bliss, and peace. Taking seven minutes to finally fall asleep.
