The First Spark
Part 4
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen I arrived to school everything seemed normal. I knew it wasn’t because I had plans that would probably scare everypony that I knew. But I needed to carry out these plans. It is my destiny. Cloud Crasher came up to me and by the look on his face I’d say he knew that my house was broken into and that my parents were missing. We stood there in an awkward silence for a little bit. He was first to speak, “Hey Digi… I’m sorry about wha…”
I cut him off, “You don’t need to be sorry, there isn’t anything you could’ve done.” Another awkward silence.
“Cloud I am planning something big. Something really big.” He seemed surprised at the mention of this.
“What are you planning? Is it some sort of revenge plot?” He said with a slight smile and chuckle. I think he was trying to make me feel better, but this was a serious matter to me.
“Cloud I’m serious.” I said with a grim seriousness.
“Oh sorry… but really what are you planning?” I mentally prepared myself for the realization of my plan.
“Today will be my last day at this school.”
He cut me off, “What! Are the guards relocating you?”
I cut him off too, that is what friends do after all. “Just wait and you’ll know it all.”
He sat back and began listening intently as I began to relay my plans to him. “No I am not being relocated, well not by anyone else anyways. I am going to run away.” His eyes went really wide with surprise, but he kept listening. “I have been given a mission by my parents that I plan to finish, but I can’t do what they wish with the guards and Mrs. Ofrain breathing down my neck. So I’m leaving Cloudsdale.” As he processed this I watched his face for signs of emotion. He eventually asked the one question I had been dreading.
“Will I ever see you again?” I sat there pondering the reality of the situation and the likeliness I’ll ever see him again. It seemed most unlikely that we’d ever see each other again, but I couldn’t say that.
“Yeah, we will see each other again most definitely.” He seemed relieved. I am glad I could give him some comfort, too bad I couldn’t comfort myself.
The rest of the day I was too nervous to pay attention to school. Cloud Crasher seemed distracted too. As soon as class ended I dashed out of the door to not waste a second of my time. I caught a glimpse of Cloud Crasher, he looked severely depressed. I felt really bad for doing this to him, but it must be done.
I rushed home to make sure I could get enough supplies for a long trip, if everything went according to plan I should be able to gather supplies, The Computer pieces and plans, and just a few homely things to keep me confident. I arrived home in record time, most of the guards had left and only a few straggled around for clues and to protect me. I saw Mrs. Ofrain through the living room window talking to a guard.
I made my way to the door and entered, I made sure to close the door quietly so I wouldn’t be heard. I hovered my way up the stairs, If I walked my hooves would be heard for sure. I made my way to my room, or where my room used to be, instead of the bright comfortable place that was my one and only space of joy, it was now a dull broken place I used to call home.
I grabbed my saddlebags, and a memento or two, and moved on to my parent’s room. I loaded the pieces and plans of The Computer into one of my saddlebags, I was sure glad there wasn’t much there. I also took my father’s feather, and my mother’s heart necklace. I held them in my hoof and pictured my mother and father out there somewhere hiding from evil ponies. It pulled my heartstrings and I shed a tear, but there wasn’t time to cry, not when I had a mission to do.
I continued to the kitchen and was relieved to find no guards stealing my food. I grabbed hay, oats, apples, and a treat for later. A muffin, a delicious, scrumptious, chocolaty, heavenly muffin. … Anyways I was weighed down by the all the supplies and was unable to fly it out, which means I had to trot. This was the most dangerous part.
I began to tip-hoof my way towards the door. I made it to the door undetected and began to open it. Luck had decided to not stay with me that day for the door creaked and Mrs. Ofrain heard it. “Digital is that you?” She called out. I knew if she caught me my entire mission as well as my destiny would be ruined. I thought quickly for an excuse when I got one. “I’m going to the park to play with Cloud Crasher. I hoped she’d believe my obvious lie.
“Ok but when you come back we are going to have to talk about getting a new family.” She must have been the stupidest pony I’d ever met, new family my flank. I left my home and made my way to the Hot Air Balloon station.
