I could have sent her back...
Year 1, Day 282
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDear Diary,
I could have sent her back.
This whole time, I could have sent her back, and I still can.
I sat down and watched Equestria Girls with Marty. He pretty much laughed through the entire thing, but I wasn't really laughing.
Mirrors. That's how Dashie got here. Which mirror, and why she didn't transform into a human are beyond me, but that's it. That's been the answer this whole time.
But you can't blame me for my ignorance, can you? I had no way of knowing this until right now. All I did was try to help her make the best of a bad situation. I have no need to justify myself, if anything, I'm a hero! I threw caution to the wind and put myself out there just to help a poor soul in her time of need. What could possibly be more selfless than that?
But even as I squaredance around it, the burning question eats away at my skull like a little, white worm:
Now that I know the truth, what do I do with it?
Do I send her back? If so, how? Do I just shove her through the mirror in my bathroom? Does it have to be a specific mirror? How long until the cycle of thirty moons comes to an end? How would I actually do something like this.
Or... why?
Why would I do this? Why would I just... give her back? I have dedicated nearly a year of my short life to this pony, and I intend to dedicate many, many more. I found her on the streets and took her in and provided her with free food and shelter when no one else would! So what gives this world the gall to tell me that it it has any right to my daughter!?
I could have sent her back, and I still can. But that would be the lazy way out. The cheap way out.
I am Dashie's father. It is a title I have earned, and it is a title I am going to keep.
