I could have sent her back...
Year 1, Day 102
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDear Diary,
Went on a nice, long walk for the first time in months. I stopped on the Central Bridge just to get a whiff of the sea air. The guard rail felt fairly sturdy this time, I think they've reinforced it since the last tine I was there.
Dashie's been making progress with her flying. As it stands, she's easily able to reach any cabinet or drawer in the house, and can easily outfly any insect. Poor dragonfly learned that the hard way. She keeps begging me to take her outside to fly in the park, but like I keep telling her, it's not safe. Anyone sees her, even for a second, and it's off to Navada. I'm not taking that risk.
I've decided to try asking Jenny out again. No elaborate flower proposal this time, for fear of running over Bugs Bunny, or some other treasured childhood character. I'm just going to call her up, and ask her if she wants to hang out. It doesn't even have to be the Italian place, I heard they closed down anyway. Really, anywhere but the burger joint is fine in my book.
If things go well, I'll probably be away all night. I'm pretty sure Dashie can handle herself while I'm gone. I try not to mention the alley, but the fact is that she really held her own in there. I'm confident she'll be able to live on her own for at least one night in this apartment. I've made sure to remind my landlord to cancel the maid service for tonight. I just hope she doesn't make any noise, because that would be hard to explain.
And speaking of Dashie, after I caught her peeking in my diary, I kind of had to set up a quick ground rule. But I made it fair. I don't look at her diary, and she doesn't look at mine. Simple. All things considered, I think she took it well. Only trouble is, now she's asking for more books to read. If she's good, maybe I'll pick her up a nice Star Wars book tomorrow, after work. She'll probably get a kick out of Star Wars.
