Chapters TWILIGHT SPARKLE AND SPIKE THE DRAGON STARING IN:
THE MISSING PONY CAPER
It was a bright and sunny day in Ponyville as Twilight Sparkle woke up bright and early to get ready for a new day to spend with her friends. “A little too early.....” Twilight remarked looking out her window as the sun hadn't even come up yet. However she was awake so she figured she had no reason to go to back to sleep. As she looked out her window she noticed a pony wrapped in a bunch of cloths making it impossible to see who it was, but what made it suspicious was the fact the pony was dragging a large sack that looked as if something living was kicking inside of it.
Twilight immediately rushed down the stairs and out her front door to confront the pony but there were already gone. “I must be imaging things....wake up girl! You're seeing things!” Twilight thought to herself letting out a sigh.
Later that day Twilight headed into town once the sun was up and Ponyville was bursting with activity today. “Wow. What's going on?” Twilight asked one pony who was looking around.
“Another pony has gone missing!” One pony said. “I thought it was over!” said another one. “Not this again!” said a third.
Just then Applejack came trotting up to the scene and saw the missing poster.” Another one? Why the hay does this keep happenin?” Applejack said with a sense of worry on her face then turned to see Twilight. “oh hey thar, Twilight.” Applejack said with a smile.
“I'm still new to Ponyville but does this happen often?” Twilight asked nervously.
“I wouldn't worry too much about it sugarcube. This kind of thing hasn't happened in years. It's just probably somepony who got lost in evergreen forest.” Applejack said however her voice wasn't all that convincing.
“I think we should investigate this. Princess Celesta would want to know if something has happened to her subjects.” Twilight replied.
“Now Twilight. I wouldn't be stickin my nose where it don't belong now. Leave this up to ponyville's finest. They'll figure it out.” Applejack replied and trotted off.
Twilight however decided she would try to figure out this missing pony caper herself. After all if it were one of Applejack's friends she would be worried about them wouldn’t she? Twilight immediately went back to her home to find Spike whom was just waking up. “Spike. I need you to take a note and send it to princess celesta.” Twilight said at which point Spike pulled out a paper scroll with a quill.
“Dear princess Celesta. I am writing to you out of concern for the ponies of Ponyville. There has been a mysterious disappearance and according to ponies around town this isn't the first time. Therefore I am going to perform my own investigation to get to the bottom of these disappearances. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight said finishing at which point Spike rolled up the scroll and blew fire on it sending it directly to princess celesta.
Moments later spike gave a loud belch at which point a rolled up scroll appeared from within the magical flames. Spike opened up the scroll and began to read it.
“To my Faithful student Twilight Sparkle, I too have heard of these mysterious disappearances and am concerned myself but I am unsure if it is such a good idea for a single pony such as yourself to get involved with such things. However I approve of your concern and therefore grant you permission to investigate this incident but use caution. Your proud mentor, Princess celesta.” Spike said and rolled up the scroll.
“Right. Lets get investigating.” Twilight said with a smile.
Ten minuets later.....
“Where do I even begin?” Twilight asked aloud in a discouraged tone.
“Well how about the place you said you saw that mysterious pony heading?” Spike suggested at which point Twilight's eyes lit up.
“Of course!” Twilight then charged in the direction that the pony was going earlier this morning which oddly lead her to Pinkie Pie's store.
“Why would it lead me here?” Twilight thought to herself but either way she entered the store and was immediately greeted Pinkie Pie who was smiling as usual.
“Hey, Twilight! Did you come to try some cupcakes? I just made them this morning! Yep! And I did a great job making them!” Pinkie Pie said with a smile hopping around Twilight.
“Sure, and maybe you could tell me if you saw anypony come by here early this morning.” Twilight asked her friend as she took a cupcake off the tray and bit into it.
“Oh? Nope! I didn't see anyone this morning! Why you ask Twilight?” Pinkie Pie asked curiously.
“Well a pony disappeared this morning and I think it may be connected to the pony I saw in cloths this morning carrying a sack towards this place.” Twilight replied and took one last bite of the cupcake finishing it.
“Ooohh.....hmmm...nope I don't know anypony who looks like that!” Pinkie Pie replied.
Just then Rarity opened the door and came in. “Why hello Twilight! You're looking absolutely stunning!” Rarity said with a smile before turning to Pinkie Pie. “Pinkie Pie. Is that special package ready yet?” Rarity asked Pinkie Pie.
“Yep! Let me go get it!” Pinkie Pie replied dashing to the back of her store.
“Special package?” Twilight asked curiously.
“Oh yes, well you know...I just love Pinkie Pie's cooking. So I make a special order now and then.” Rarity replied with a smile.
“Okay. Say Rarity. Do you mind if I come over and ask you a few questions later today?” Twilight asked in reply.
Just then Pinkie Pie came back with a gift wrapped red box. “Hear you go Rarity!” Pinkie Pie replied with a smile.
“Oh good gracious. I would Twilight but I am going to be very busy today and won't be able to have any visitors.” Rarity replied with a nervous smile then turned to Pinkie Pie.
“Now you did make sure the order was done right this time?” Rarity asked with stern stare.
“Yep! I even steam-dried them!” Pinkie Pie replied hoping about.
“Steam-dried?” Twilight asked raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
“Oh, well Pinkie Pie makes my orders a special way Twilight. I simply love my....-Cupcakes!” Pinkie Pie chimed in with a smile cutting off Rarity. “Yes. I simply love my cupcakes...steam-dried...” Rarity said with a smile firing a annoyed look at Pinkie Pie unknown to Twilight.
“Well I must be going now. Nice to see you Twilight.” Rarity said clearly looking as if she was in a rush,left the store, and closed the door behind her.
“Well Pinkie if you see anything suspicious let me know.” Twilight said as she opened the store door.
“Will do!” Pinkie Pie replied with a smile as Twilight left the store.
“Well that was a dead end.....” Twilight thought dismally to herself.
“Don't worry Twilight. I'm sure you'll stumble upon a clue any moment!” Spike said with a smile as they walked down the ally behind Pinkie Pie's store searching for clues store when Spike tripped and fell.
“Spike watch your footing would-” Twilight said with an annoyed look only to be cut off mid-sentence by what she saw with a gasp of horror.
The next thing just about all of Ponyville could hear was Twilight's ear piercing scream....

Twilight screamed at the top of her lungs in horror at the sight that beheld her. Laying before her that spike tripped over was non over than a pony's corpse horribly mutilated and missing it's head and hooves.
Spike whom tripped over it was frozen in shock and horror unable to speak let alone move at this horrifying sight.
Just then Pinkie Pie came running around the corner.”Twilight! Are you okay what's-gasp-” Pinkie Pie exclaimed in worry only to gasp in shock at the sight.
Hearing Pinkie Pie's voice seemed to jar Twilight out of her screaming as she rushed over to Pinkie Pie and hugged her tightly. “Golly....that's...scary. I can't laugh or giggle at that.” Pinkie Pie said with a stunned expression as Twilight hugged her sobbing.
Twilight's screaming had not only alerted Pinkie Pie though as Police ponies rushed to the scene at which point one of which gasped at the sight and the other got sick to their stomach and vomited on the ground.
About an hour later Twilight found herself in the Ponyvile police station next to Pinkie Pie as a Police Pony took down notes.
“Miss Sparkle I know you don't want to remember those events but I have to ask you one last question. Did you know that pony?” The police pony asked in a gentle and calm tone.
“N-no. At least I don't think so. It wa kind of hard to tell with it's head.....” Twilight said trailing off.
“Missing. Yes I understand. Thanks all for now Miss Sparkle. We'll contact you later if we find anything more. You should go home and get some rest.” The police pony said and patted her shoulder with a hoof.
“Come on Twilight. I'll come with you to your house.” Pinkie Pie said with a smile as Twilight began to walk out of the Police station.
Just as Twilight took a step out of the Police station Pinkie Pie grabbed Twilight and yanked her away from the side walk.
“My tail's a twitchin!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed as she yanked Twilight by the mane with her mouth and mere seconds later a Piano came crashing down with a loud crash.
“I don't need this today!” Twilight exclaimed horrified at the realization of her near death experience.
“My Pinkie senses saved you Twilight!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed with a smile.
“So I noticed....” Twilight remarked as Police ponies rushed out the door.
“Who in Equestria would be dropping Piano's in the middle of town?” One Police pony asked astonished.
“I can think of one....Damn Derpy Hooves....” The other officer said with an eye roll.
Pinkie Pie and Twilight began to make their way down the street towards Twilight's home. “I think i'm done with this investigating...that was too scary.” Twilight remarked as they neared her door only to notice a note with blood red letters stating:

Twilight's eyes widened in horror as she read this.”I-I'm next? That means the killer knows I found out something and wants me dead!” Twilight exclaimed horrified.
“That's not good! What did you do find out Twilight?” Pinkie Pie asked looking at her.
“I don't know! I didn't even find out who the killer was! Unless....the body! I wasn't supposed to find the body! The killer must have panicked and ran when they heard me coming, ran off, and then I found the body!” Twilight exclaimed as panic enveloped her.
“But that means they want to kill me too! I saw the body as well! I better go see if there's a note on my door too! See you Twilight!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed and ran off in the blink of an eye before Twilight could stop her.
“P-Pinkie Pie! Don't leave me alone!” Twilight exclaimed in a panicked voice and began to look around herself for anything suspicious. After a few moments Twilight shakily opened her door and slowly took a step inside.
“S-Spike? Are you here?” Twilight asked timidly but there was no answer. Just dead silence.
“Twilight? Are you okay?” A voice asked causing Twilight to jump out of her skin nearly and run to the other side of the room only to realize it was Rainbow Dash.
“Oh. It's just you.” Twilight said after a few moments relief washing over her.
“Who else would be?” Rainbow Dash said with a smile.
“Nope. You were here when I got here so I let myself in and figured I’d wait for you to come back. Why what's wrong?” Rainbow Dash asked confused.
“Somepony wants me dead because I found the body of a dead pony.” Twilight replied and began to explain how she found the body and what happened outside of the police station.
“Oh wow. Don't worry Twilight. I'll stay with you. No pony tries to hurt my friends and gets away with it!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed standing proudly.
“Thanks Rainbow. I could use some company. Spike for some reason has gone missing...” Twilight trailed off and suddenly panic filled her again.”Oh no! What if the killer found Spike! I've got to find him!” Twilight exclaimed and ran for the door.
“Alright. I'll help you find him.” Rainbow Dash said following her out the door. “I'll search around town. You look around on the ground. We'll meet back her later. Okay?” Rainbow dash said with a smile.
“Okay.” Twilight replied with a worried look.
Twilight really didn't like the idea of looking for Spike alone but since Rainbow Dash was a Pegasus she figured she would have better chances of finding Spike than her. “I hope Spike is okay.” Twilight said in a worried tone.
Hours later Twilight was still searching but she saw no sign of Spike nor Rainbow Dash for that matter. “Wasn't Rainbow Dash supposed to meet me at my house? I've been by my house five times already and she still hasn't shown up.” Twilight thought to herself as she walked along the the path towards Apple Acres.
“Spike....where could you be?” Twilight asked aloud worried as she stopped and looked around.
Suddenly something lept from the bushes towards Twilight causing her to scream in horror only for it to be Winona whom was Applejack's Dog and let out a sigh.
Winona barked happily at Twilight with a smile as Twilight Knelt down and patted her on the head.
“Whew...for a moment I thought it was the-” Twilight said with a relived sigh only to be cut off by a knife stabbing the tree mere inches from her face and a heavily cloaked figure rushing from the bushes at her with another knife in her mouth.
Twilight had little time to react so she did the only thing that came to mind and put her hooves in front of her as she was tackled to the ground the knife pointed directly at her throat mere inches away. The only thing holding it off was Twilight's hooves which held the cloaked figures head away but barely.
Even though her attacker's face was right in front of her she couldn't tell who it was due to it being so heavily cloaked.
Twilight struggled with all her might to shove the pony off her but speaking as she wasn't the athletic type all she could manage was to keep knife from her throat which she was steadily losing enough strength to do that as the knife slowly edged closer to her neck.
Fear and panic were the only two emotions Twilight could feel at the moment as the knife grew dangerously closer now so that she could feel the point barely poking her neck now. “I'm going be killed if I don't do something!” Twilight thought in a panicked tone as she continued to struggle against the cloaked pony.
Twilight let out a pained cry as the very tip of the knife pierced her neck but did not go any farther drawing fresh blood.
Suddenly out of no where Winona lunged at her cloaked attacker knocking her to the side while at the same time causing the knife to slit her throat but not deeply. it was merely a surface cut but it bleed just the same. Twilight immediately got to her hooves and ran with all her might down the path not looking back as she sobbed loudly in horror.
After some time she arrived back in Ponyville and looked around herself, panic still flooding through her but she was exhausted from all her running. Slowly she made her way to a trove of water and looked at her reflection to survey the damage.
The cut wasn't bleeding now but it could be seen all the same. It had been a VERY CLOSE call for her. If Winona hadn't lunged at her attack when she had Twilight would have been a corpse right now. “I can't go to the police about this anymore...” Twilight thought to herself and began to walk towards her house. “At this rate the only way I’m going to live through this is if I find the killer and bring them to justice.” Twilight thought to herself as she walked up to her door only to find another note on it written in blood red letters.
YOU WON'T BE SO LUCKY NEXT TIME.....
Twilight gulped. How could the killer get here before her? Wasn't she tackled by Winona? It's not possible. The only possible explanation was that there was more than one killer. The mere thought of there being more than one killer horrified Twilight even more if possible. How many killers were there? And more importantly...who were they? These questions and more flooded Twilight's mind as she opened her door cautiously and looked around.
“Good gracious! What happened to your neck Twilight?!” a voice exclaimed once again causing Twilight to nearly jump out of her skin and run to the other side of her home only to find out it was Rarity.
“Rarity? Oh thank Celetsia its you.” Twilight replied after a few moments as her eyes focused to the darkness. “Did you see the note on my door?” Twilight asked after a few moments.
“Note? No I didn't. I got here hours ago. I finished my work and thought i'd come by and talk with you about what happened today.” Rarity replied.
“I was nearly killed twice today! Once with a Piano and just outside of Apple Acres at knife point!” Twilight exclaimed walking over to Rarity and sat down with her rump on the floor.
“Why don't you go the police about this Twilight?” Rarity suggested.
“I can't. If I do the killer may try to kill me again outside of the station like earlier. I have to figure this out on my own.” Twilight replied looking around herself.
“Goodness. This is not good. Can you at least tell Princess Celestia about this?” Rarity asked curiously.
“Without Spike I’d have to send the letter the old fashioned way and if the killer works for the post office they would just get rid of it anyways. Speaking of him. I hope he's okay....” Twilight said with a sigh, stood up, and began to concentrate.
“What are you doing Twilight?” Rarity asked curiously.
“Putting a protection spell around my house. No one in and no one out.” Twilight said as her horn began to emit a purple cloud of magic that expanded and flowed all over her house and over it. “That way I can at least try to get some sleep without worrying about the killer getting into my house while I’m sleeping and kill me.” Twilight explained and let out a sight as she finished casting the spell.
“Well I suppose that does make sense. I guess i'm stuck here for the night.” Rarity replied with a smile.
“Sorry about this Rarity.” Twilight replied as she began to walk towards her room.
“Don't worry about it darling. I wouldn't want to leave my friends alone with a killer on the loose anyways.” Rarity replied with a smile and magically made herself a make-shift bed out of pillows and books.
After hearing this Twilight walked over to Rarity and gave her a hug.”Thanks Rarity. That makes me feel a lot better.” Twilight said with a smile and made her way to her room.
Twilight tossed and turned in her bed and soon fell into an uneasy sleep...
Several hours later.......
Twilight was jolted awake by Rarity's ear piercing horrified scream that seemed to have been abruptly cut off. Twilight got out of bed as fear began to consume her again and suddenly felt wide awake as she slowly baby steps towards her door.
“R-R-Rarity? A-A-Are you okay?” Twilight asked in a scared voice stuttering as she spoke.
Just as she neared her door however several knives could be seen stabbing it and poking out causing Twilight to jump back as panic and fear completely overwhelmed her senses now. Moments later the door was shot off it's hinges and flew over Twilight's head.
Well it was obvious now that one of the killers was a unicorn at least but that didn't make matters any better as Twilight attempted to swallow her fears and took a fighting stance ready to cast a spell at a moments notice.
However several minuets passed and nothing had emerged through the door so Twilight going against her better judgment began to walk towards the doorway and slowly through it.
The barrier Twilight had put up clearly was gone now as she took another step into her front room. Twilight looked around for Rarity but saw no sign of her. “Did the killer just take her and leave?” Twilight thought to herself however this thought didn't make her feel any better. In fact it terrified her even more.
Twilight sat down and began to sob loudly she couldn't take it. It was too much. First Spike, then her, and now her friends? It was too much for one pony to bear for Twilight. What was she going to do? She had to figure out something.
Otherwise the killer was going to pick off each of her friends until sh was the only one left....

Twilight's eyes fluttered open as the sun hung high over her home. She had no idea how she had managed it. Maybe it was pure mental exhaustion or possibly just that she passed out due to lack of oxygen from hyperventilating so much. Either way she stood up wearily and looked around.
“Still no sign of Rarity....” Twilight thought to herself as worry and fear filled her again. Twilight took a few steps through her front room wondering how she was going to figure out who was the killer when suddenly she had an epiphany.
“You're in a library...Duh, Twilight!” Twilight said aloud to herself and began to concentrate to summon all the books relevant to criminals and criminal psychology to her. Moments later several books stacked themselves neatly in front of her and she began to read them.
Hours later....
“Ugh! All these books are useless!” Twilight said ejecting all the books around her in multiple directions with her magic in frustration and slammed her head into a book in front of her. A few moments later Twilight felt something hard land on her head and jolted up her head with one hoof on it rubbing it in pain as she looked towards her door to see a pony wearing a hooded cloak running off.
“Would you mind watching where you're throwing-eh?!” Twilight shouted in annoyance looking out the door then to the floor to see a portfolio in front of her. It wasn't titled but that didn't stop Twilight from opening it. Judging by it's condition it seemed to be pretty old. Twilight figured it had to be at least fifty years old if not more. The photos inside it were black and white with letters written on the side of each photo.
The first photo Twilight saw was a disturbing photo of a Pegasus pony with it's wings completely severed from it's back. “My very first....he was special....i'll never forget the rush of seeing the life drain from this pony's eyes...so exciting...” the words said aside of this picture.
The next photo was of a young filly with her legs spread wide however the fact that this photo was even more disturbing than the last was not the fact her legs were spread open but the fact the spot where the filly's vagina should have been was completely missing and looked as if it was gushing blood in this photo. “Her voice was so cute...even her horrified pained screams made me all warm and fuzzy inside....”
Twilight near got sick to her stomach at the sight of the young filly but she pressed on each photo more gory than the next. The last black and white photo however was not gory at all. In fact it was a picture of a small filly with long hair whom was smiling. “My Sweet and adorable Apprentice.....you will continue my work and my legacy will live on even after I am long gone...” The words read next to the photo. Twilight turn the page and saw a newspaper clipping.
SERIAL KILLER BRANDON HOOFSWORTH ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE MURDERS
Brandon Hoofsworth also known as “The Baker” for his sickening methods of cooking his victims body parts in his baked goods and sold them to people was arrested today on over thirty counts of murder and is being investigated for fifty more counts of murder as this article is printed.
Officer Steelmane had this to say: “It's about time we brought this killer to justice. Now the victims families can at least find some closure to this chain of horrifying events.” said as he spoke to multiple press ponies. When questioned about a supposed apprentice Brandon could be hard screaming who would continue his work Officer steelmane replied with this: “We have found no evidence supporting these claims however we will continue to investigate this.” several days later however we found that the possibility of another adult pony being an accomplice was dropped. With the killer behind bars Ponyville can now sleep safely again thanks to Ponyville's finest.
Twilight read this article and let out a gasp as she flipped to the previous page quickly and stared at the picture of the smiling filly. “They didn't find his apprentice because the apprentice wasn't an adult pony...it was a young filly! But this doesn't make sense! If he only had one apprentice then how come there is more than one killer after me?” Twilight said aloud to herself then proceeded to flip the page forward twice. The pictures were now in color and more importantly, they looked recent. These picture looked even more gruesome if possible being in color and there was writing next to these as well but not in the previous style as the last. “He taught me well...I'm so glad he found me! I just hope he isn't upset with me for waiting so long to continue his work.” The words read.
Twilight pressed on each photo of a pony she either saw at one point or another looking horribly mutilated in different horrifying ways. Each more disturbing than the next. Finally Twilight was near the second to last page of the portfolio. The first picture she immediately recognized due to the fact she saw this pony just yesterday in the alley with it's head and hooves missing. Nothing was written next to this one however. Twilight glanced down at the next photo and her eyes widened in horror.
It was a photo of her with writing next to it. “My next victim...she got away from me once but oh well. She's going to be so fun so play with! After all she's my.....” The words read however the last words of the writing were fudged and illegible.
It took a few moments for her to figure it out but when it did the horrifying realization caused her to begin to hyperventilate. The killer knew her. She knew her! Twilight panicking began to try to think of every pony who knew her and shortly after tried to think of who it could possibly be. But no matter how much she tried..she couldn't figure it out she had no idea who it could be. She didn't want to think it possible but could it be one of her close friends?
“No,no...none of my five best friends would ever try to this to me....would they?” Twilight said aloud trying to think clearly.
Twilight tried to think rationally. But no matter how much she tried she couldn't. Twilight found herself questioning how well she actually knew her friends. When it boiled down to it..she realized she didn't know jack shit about them really.
“Stop it Twilight! You're not honestly going to consider your best friends to be killers are you?” Twilight asked herself aloud.
She had no choice. She had to visit Brandon Hoofsworth herself and find out who the killer was. “Twilight used her magic to lift her backpack on an put it in her back then put the portfolio in it and began to walk towards the local police station.
The police pony was shocked at Twilight's request but he showed her to his cell all the same. “I have no idea why on earth you would want to see this psychopathic lunatic Twilight.” The Police pony said with a sigh.
“It's for my research on the past of Ponyville.” Twilight lied with a fake smile.
“I suppose that's-dear Celestia!” The officer pony exclaimed as they came to the cell.
Twilight gasped in horror. Brandon Hoofsworth was in there alright...well his head anyways. On thew cell wall letters clearly written in blood could be seen.

“Dear Celestia......she's always one step ahead of me...how am I going to stop her if I don't know who it is?! She's probably watching me right now!” Twilight thought to herself horrified as she looked around herself in a panic looking for the slightest hint of a head poking through a window.
“Who was here before me?” Twilight asked the officer who was still in shock.
“Umm..uhh....no one as far as I know. I just got on shift fifteen minuets ago.” The Police pony replied and began to take Twilight out of the holding cell hall.
The police pony then picked up his phone and dialed a number. “I need to know who was on shift this morning. Brandon Hoofsworth was just found dead! And it was recent! How recent? I don't know! Do I look like a freaking medical pony to you?! What do you mean the officer who was on shift earlier isn't responding to calls?! Every single Police pony is on call day and night!” The police pony shouted into his phone talking with another pony.
“They won't find him...she already got to him.” Twilight said under her breath as filled with fear all over again but for some reason she wasn't in a state of panic anymore. Was the fact she was finally losing it? Or maybe she's see so much blood and gore that it had simply made her numb? Whatever it was Twilight was able think perfectly clear now. If the killer is one step ahead of her. Then she had to very close to her to be able to predict her actions and smart. It had to be....Rarity. She was the only one smart enough to pull this off and she knew her very well. She must have faked being kidnapped but then wait...why was she acting strange at the bakery with Pinkie Pie? Was she involved too? But hold on..Applejack and Rainbow Dash were also behaving oddly. As much as she didn't want to consider it it made sense now.
