Rarity had explained all there is to know about chess and began playing it with Shade. She still wasin’t use to the way he use dark tendrils to pick things up or move pieces. “Darling could you use your hooves please? The thing you do with those......Things is kind of scary.” He looked at her for a moment and the tendrils faded, he then use one of his hooves and moved a knight forward slightly.

“Check mate?” He looked up at Rarity. She looked a bit shocked.

“My my you must be good at this game.” She complemented. A smiled cracked onto his face (By this I mean a a white line went up like cracks forming a smile face.) and he shrugged. Spike was sitting in the corner eating a gem.

“Naw he got lucky, here let me play. I’ll have him beat in no time!” He got up and took Rarity’s spot.

“Are you sure you can play right?” Spike gave him a bemused look.

“Ya I’m sure, just set up your pieces and I’ll show you a ture master!” He laughed.

Twilight and Rainbow Dash had made their way to Sugarcube Corner after meeting with Rarity. “How do you think she’l handle it?” Rainbow asked Twilight as they got closer to the door.

“Well we have to tell her she can’t throw him a party here,” As soon as she said party Pinkie burst out of the front door and tackled her.

“Did you say party!? Oh I have to get everything ready! Cake, cupcakes, streamers, balloons, EVERYTHING!” She got ready to run back into Sugarcube Corner when Dash stopped her.

“PINKIE! We came here to tell you there’s a strange new pony in town and he’s at Twi’s place, you can throw him a party but you can invite everypony in ponyville, got it? He is very sensitive to light too. We want you to go meet him.” She let go of her and helped Twi up. Pinkie thought for a moment then smiled.

“Okie-dokie-lokie!” She hoped down the street towards the library.

“Argh we keep forgetting to tell them what he looks like!” Rainbow facehoofed.

“Don’t worry, Rarity hasin’t come running at us telling us there’s a monster in the library yet. So Spike must have helped.” After a moment Dash nodded.

“Alright, lets go to AJ’s.” They began walking again, chatting about how Pinkie was going to react.

“WHAT!? HOW DID YOU WIN!?” Spike was staring dumbfoundedly at the chess bored as all his pawns were gone and Shade, somehow, got his knight to check mate his king.

“Again?” Shade looked up from the bored and at Spike. “You seem distressed, what is the matter?” Spike gave him a long look then sighed.

“Nothing, nothing. Let’s find something else to do.” Rarity looked at Shade with a large smile.

“Why don’t you let me make you a suit darling? It would cover most of your skin and keep the light from touching you.” Shade looked at her blankly then looked up thinking. After a while he looked back down at her.

“Yes, please do make me a ‘suit’.” Rarity Smiled wider and took all the things she brought with her and walked over to Shade.

“I’ll try to dim the light on my magic so it dosin’t hurt so much.” He nodded as she got to work. A knock came from the door. “Spike could you get that please?” Spike got up and nodded, walking towards the door. When he opened it he got tackled by Pinkie.

“Hey Spike! I’m here to meet the new pony!” Spike had no chance of getting her off of him.

“He’s over there getting fitted by Rarity but I have to tell ya he looks.....Different.” Pinkie made a ‘piffft’ sound.

“Oh come on he can’t look that bad!” She got off of him and walked towards Rarity. “Hey Rarity! This the new guy?” Rarity nodded focusing. Pinkie then got a good look at Shade who was trying to hold still. “Wow you do look different! Like some sorta moving shadow!” Shade nodded slightly.

“You could say I am. Who are you?” He turned his head to look at her. She smiled widely.

“I’m Pinkie Pie! But you can call me Pinkie!” Rarity finished and was writing some things down. Pinkie extended her hoof for a hoofshake. Shade stared at her hoof for a moment then put up his hoof up to her’s. She grabbed hold and started to shake up and down.

“I-I-I-I’m-m-m- S-S-Sha-a-a-ade.” He tried his best to talk.

“Nice to meet ya!” She giggled and let go of his hoof. “Sorry about that, I just like meeting new ponies!” Shade finally stopped his hoof and looked at her.

“I can see that.” He looked around a moment then turned back to her to see a cannon. “Is that a cannon?” Spike and Rarity took cover.

“YUP!” She pulled the string and out shot a full blown party. The whole library was covered in party things, balloons, streamers, the works. “Come on everypony! Let’s party!”
