My family and I arrived at the train station. Unlike the small ones around Equestria, San Franciscolt's train station was huge! It was 2 stories high and huge windows. It even had a food court. I only rode on a train once when I was younger. My family doesn't like to travel. I had to head to Ponyville on my own in a twenty-three hour train ride so they didn't care. It was the first time they had let me go anywhere far by myself.

My dad dropped the luggage he carried on his back and he tried to hug me.

"Don't touch me!" I raised my voice as I pushed him away.

The steam engine pulled and the conductor yelled "All aboard!"

My grandma put my bag on my back and hugged me. I hugged my grandpa and stepped into the train cabin. An attendant brought my stuff aboard the train and the engine started to pull away. I watched my family as they waved their goodbyes. I waved back and sat on my bed.

I got myself situated and unpacked some stuff I needed for the night. I quickly glanced around the six-bedded room and got a glimpse of pink.

I got up to investigate the pink fluffy ball. I had no idea what it was. I lay a hoof on the softest fur I had ever felt. Everything happened so quick! A head popped out of the furball and we both screamed. We stopped screaming and stared at each other.

"Um...hello..." I greeted shyly since I have a fear of talking to new ponies.

The fluffy pony stuck her her tongue out and gave me a raspberry.

"Uhh...I think we had a bad start. Maybe we can start over?"

She blew another raspberry and left her tongue hanging out.

It was just...awkward. I sat back down on my bed and pulled my sketch book out.

I awoke to the engine blowing. It seems we had just arrived. The pink furball watched me pack my stuff and followed me as we exited the train. The fresh Ponyville air smelled so good! Like...apple pie or something!

I pulled out a map from the pile of luggage on my back to see where I was going. I sometimes wish I was a unicorn. I think I would function better and be more advanced in art if I had a magical horn. Oh well. I try to put that thought away into the "get-over-it file" in my brain. I was so caught up in my thoughts I forgot about the furry pony trailing behind me blowing buzzing raspberries.

It wasn't long before we got to the library. I thought we were at the wrong place....because it was a tree. My local library back home was more of a modern looking building so I expected to live in something all too familiar. I reluctantly knocked and the door creaked open.

"SURPRISE!!!!"

I stepped back and gasped as all the heavy luggage fell off my back with a thud. Something as nice as a surprise party happened to be my worst nightmare come true. Strange ponies from a town I hadn't even been in for a half an hour throwing me a welcome party. They didn't even know me! However I remained calm and collected as another pink pony approached me. She wasn't as fluffy as the furball who ran passed me to join the celebration.

"Hi I'm Pinkie Pie and I threw you this party!" she said with her hoof out. I looked at it as if it were a foreign object and quickly shook it. Her body was the color of bubble gum and her hair looked like cotton candy. Before I could say hi she started babbling.

"Oooh you seemed very surprised! Were ya? Were ya?" The pink party pony asked.

"Um...er...yes! Very!" I managed to get out clearing my throat.

"Twilight told me you were coming so I was all like [gasp]! Then I'm all like 'ooh we should throw her a welcome party!' and she's like 'I don't think that would be a good idea.' But if you don't get a welcome party, you won't feel welcomed and you won't get to know everypony here and I'll feel guilty for not throwing you a party! I'll stop throwing parties because I'll be too depressed and Equestria will fall apart because there is no parties and the world will go KABLOOM!!!! And that's how the world will end!" Pinkie said all in one breath.

"Wow. That's nice of you. Pinkie." I coughed up nervously. "I'll just get some time to know everypony here."

"Yay! See ya!" Pinkie waved as I walked away.

I headed for some blueberry muffins at the snack table and a blueish grey pegasus with a blonde mane cut in front of me. She ate the entire plate of muffins in one bite and looked back at me with derped eyes.

"Excuse me.'" she spat out with her mouth full and walked away leaving me staring at an empty plate.

Um... that's okay. Blueberries aren't my absolute favorite anyway. I felt like crying. I thought Ponyville was supposed to take me away from my troubles, not cause more of it. It seems wherever I go I'll never fit in. I'm just my own individual self who just sits in the corner and sulks.

"What in Equestria's name is going on here?!"

Everypony hushed into silence and the music stopped.

"Pinkie! I thought I told you not to throw a surprise party!" The purple pony said as she entered the library followed by a purple and green dragon. Princess Twilight Sparkle could not be mistaken by the unicorn and pegasi features and the streaks of pink and violet in her mane and tail.

"But Twilight! If I don't throw Rainbow Pastel a welcome party, she won't feel welcomed and she won't get to know everypony and-"

"I know you want to do what you think is best and you want to make her feel happy and loved," Twilight looked at me then back at Pinkie and whispered, "but there are just some ponies you can't throw surprise parties for."

"Okay. I'm sorry, Twilight. I guess I'll just move my party to Sugarcube Corner."

Pinkie turned to the party. "Alright everypony! Take the decorations, take the music, take the food and cider! Take it all back to my place and party some more!"

Everypony cheered and started packing everything. I almost felt bad a first but relieved that the party of strangers were leaving. After a while Pinkie and her party left and we were all alone.

"I'm sorry about all of this, Rainbow. I know how much you don't like strangers." Twilight apologized.

"It's fine. Really." I bowed down before the princess. "It's an honor to have you as my mentor."

"It's a pleasure having you as my student. Why don't you make yourself comfortable and help Spike clean up while I get you a place to sleep. We have a big day tomorrow!"
