An Adventure Gone Right?

Chapter 3

The New Princess

In the morning I never expected to awake to such a loud and active household or treehold. I guess this world must work differently or something and this is what happened during this day.

“Spike don’t do that!” Twilight yelled loudly “Let him sleep what does it matter if he misses the morning celebration” I faintly heard these words before something pulled on my leg leaving a small scratch on my leg. I groaned in slight shock and pain but other than that ignored the small annoyance.

It wasn’t until I heard a voice yell out “No don’t you dare” and then the sound of footsteps rushing somewhere did I begin to open my eyes. Just as my eyes were half open I saw a familiar lavender mare dashing towards the bed her horn glowing while she tried to do something. “Let him sleep” Twilight spoke in a hushed voice unbeknownst to her I was already awake.

I glanced upwards and noticed a pillow was being held by the purple dragon above my head and that the pillow was also enveloped in a soft purple glow. I watched the pillow stay floating above me and heard the footsteps still rushing towards the bed before stopping for half a second and then something hit me causing my vision to blacken.

Opening my eyes I found myself face to face with a familiar face, a purple and now slightly red mare lay on top of me with a pillow over the back of her head and her face inches from mine. I didn’t know what to do so I did the only thing that made sense “Good Morning” I said with a small smile which prompted a deeper blush from the embarrassed mare. While she tried to apologize to me about waking me, I place a finger over her mouth and quieted her “It’s okay” I said softly before placing my hands on her shoulders and starting to lift her off of me.

Twilight noticed what was happening and quickly assisted me in removing her from my body, while behind her a certain purple dragon was dashing out of the room to go hide somewhere so he wasn’t punished for what just transpired in the room. I sat up lazily and cracked my neck and back from the sitting position I was in “Sleeping like that wasn’t good for my bones” I muttered to myself which got a small laugh from Twilight.

“Maybe if you’d slept normally or took your sword off it would’ve made you more comfortable” she said and I realized I still had my sword on. Checking out the bed I made sure the sword hadn’t poked any holes into the bed and was relieved when I found none ‘Got lucky this time’ I thought to myself before looking over to a confused mare.

She was about to ask what I was doing just then but decided not to and got off the bed while saying “Breakfast is ready so you can come out whenever, you also have a letter from the princess” Twilight finished before leaving through the bedroom door and closing it behind her.

Getting off the bed I continued stretching until I heard a satisfying crack and followed Twilight through the doorway and into the kitchen where a table and a few chairs were all ready for breakfast. “Looks great” I gave a smile while speaking and wandering over to the spare seat to start eating.

Sitting down on the chair I started to eat the meal laid out in front of me, using the utensils I ate the vegetables and fruit on the plate in front of me. ‘Not exactly my form of breakfast’ I thought before placing a fork down to open up the small scroll with a very regal looking stamp on it.

It read:

Dear Jesse

I request your presence outside the hospital at 12:00 sharp. We need to discuss matters about the sword and where the gems may be located so we may start looking to stop Blaire.

I will be waiting. Celestia xx

‘Why would she put two x’s after her name that’s strange’ I thought to myself while reading the last part of the letter.

After I was done reading the letter it burnt up into nothing right in front of me and left a small burn on my fingertips. “Ouch” I said softly and started to suck the burn to try and calm down the pain that was quickly spreading ‘Note to self, next time drop the scroll after finished’ I thought before continuing to eat my breakfast, Twilight and Spike were staring at me intently while wondering what was happening and what the message had said.

Spike opened his mouth but was quickly silenced by Twilight “If he doesn’t want to speak about it then let him be” she whispered urgently before continuing with her meal and constantly glancing up at Jesse hoping her would in fact tell them what it said.

Once breakfast was finished Jesse opted to carry the dishes over but Twilight wasn’t having any of that and lifted the plates out of his hands and over to the sink “You don’t need to do such a trivial thing” she spoke to me with friendliness in her voice but also curiosity when she glanced at the small black spot on my finger.

I smiled and said “Okay then but next time I need to do washing up to show my gratitude” I spoke with a smile and then made my way out of the room and into the main lobby area of the library. While looking through the many shelves of book I heard Twilight shout something about some ponies coming over to see Jesse and say hi.

“They should be here in a few minutes” Twilight finished shouting to Jesse before looking down at the ashes on the ground from the letter that had burned up in Jesse’s hands. “What did this say?” she asked herself before heading into the other room to see what Jesse was up to while she waited for her friends to show up.

“Are you guys sure we should be going in and asking this creature all these questions? He had a sword” Fluttershy whimpered softly while trailing closely to AppleJack hoping that if that creature was around AppleJack would protect her.

“Well I need some answers as to why he was flying without wings and what he thought he was doing in the air trying to beat my record from air to surface without flying” Rainbow Dash said with energy in her voice hoping she would be able to show this so called ‘creature’ who was the fastest flyer in Equestria.

“Yeah and I need to know how much fun he is so that way I can host a party and he will come and it will be amazing and all tailored to how much fun he enjoys having and then we’ll all be friends and hang out” Pinkie continuously spoke without stopping for breath or even allowing the other ponies to comprehend what she said.

The rest were about to start voicing their own questions they would pose but then the tree came into sight and for some reason they all started to sprint towards it, it was as if their lives depended on asking this creature what he was and all their own questions.

In the tree

Jesse made his way around the library “I’ve never heard of a lot of these books, although I didn’t expect to since we are from different worlds” I spoke in a calm and happy manner and pulled a book out to have a look at it “The Elements of Harmony” “A reference Guide” I read out loud and opened the book skimming through it.

My jaw almost literally dropped off of my face when I saw that there was a small drawing of each one and they all matched the slot on the sword. “I need to go right now” I said urgently much to the dismay of a lavender mare who wanted to talk to me more about where I was from to document it. While racing over to the door I opened it and heard faint yelling, turning around I saw five mares all of different colour and race bolting straight at the doorway.

I stood there frozen as they approached at a godlike speed and was also slightly disturbed when I noticed a pink one that was only bouncing up and down but somehow keeping pace with the rest of the mares. “This is going to suck” I said just as they burst through the open door and stampeded over me in a hurry, ‘Hello darkness my old friend’ I thought just as a foot came down hitting me in the head.

“Wake him up already Twi” I heard a voice say faintly and felt something shoot through my body causing me to jolt up and off of the couch I had been placed on I shouted something that my parents would’ve punished me with pepper or soap on my tongue and started to rub my chest where the shock had been delivered.

Looking up from the ground I noticed the six mares stood over me and some held disgusted looks others held amazement in their face “Oh I didn’t know he could speak” a white mare said while suppressing a smile at my recent pain and rude awakening. As she spoke I felt a pain run through my head and held it tightly groaning in pain from the injury.

“Sorry about that partner” I heard one say with a heavy southern accent and tip her hat my way. She reminded me of a western character and a horse, probably because she was a horse and had a southern accent. Feeling like an idiot for thinking like a little kid I just nodded to accept her apology and tried to remember what I was about to go and do.

“Oh that’s right” I said loudly before standing up and grabbing my sword from the end of the couch where it had been leaning most probably placed there by Twilight. “I’ll see you guys later” I yelled while dashing out of the door in a hurry while leaving behind six distressed mares and a dragon in my dust.

Back at the tree

“Why is he in such a hurry?” Rainbow asked with irritation in her voice due to not being able to show that creature her speed and prowess in the air. “I needed to show that creature how fast I was at flying so he wouldn’t go and try to beat my record again” she spoke loudly and arrogantly unbeknownst to her or anyone else in the tree why he had actually fallen from the sky.

“It isn’t a creature Rainbow, His name is Jesse and besides you guys he is the most kind hearted pony I’ve ever met” Twilight spoke proudly of her friend and began to tell the others as much as she knew about Jesse and why he was here.

“So then where was he headed?” AppleJack asked while looking out the window but not able to see the human, not that she expected to just see him standing there waiting for them or something. Looking back over to her friend she awaited an answer.

Twilight frowned slightly at the question “I don’t have any idea as to why or where he is going but I’d rather not get to into it seeing as how the Summer Sunset Celebration is in a few hours.” She finished with a smile before remembering something she was researching before Jesse had arrived. “Oh no, I forgot that Nightmare Moon is going to return this year” she began to fret and breathe heavily as if she was hyperventilating.

The girls gathered around and tried to calm their friends all while brushing off the fact she claimed Nightmare Moon was going to return, they tried to assure Twilight she was just being silly and soon left the tree to get ready for the Celebration which was only in a few hours.

Meanwhile

“Celestia!” I called while running towards the meeting place while panting heavily from the long sprint I had just made. “I have something to tell you about the gems for my sword” I was about to continue but she stopped me with a smile and simply nodded saying she knew as well and that was partly why she had called me here.

As I caught my breath I realized that it wasn’t even close to 12:00 yet and was about to question her about her presence so early in the meeting spot. “I had nothing better to do so I came early” she said with a small all knowing smile, “But since we are here early why don’t we go somewhere and look for those gems?” she asked me.

When she mentioned what sounded like an adventure the hairs on my arm stood up to attention “Sounds amazing” I spoke with a little too much enthusiasm making me regret the emotion I put into those two words immediately when she gave me a sly smile and a nod that said ‘Oh really’ I blushed and quickly started to walk “So let’s go” I finished and was about to keep walking before I felt arms wrap around me and lift me off the ground.

“I have an idea where those gems may be located” Celestia said while we flew through the air, I’d complained my head off when we first started and she decided to tease me by loosening her grip and teasing me. Finally I decided to not even respond or talk to her so I was carried in silence while she spoke of the importance to finding these gems.

Soon we were flying over a forest that seemed to be filled with evil and many mysteries that made me both scared and excited “Note to self, Enter that forest soon to explore” I spoke to myself softly and received a quick poke and a shake of the head from the Alicorn princess carrying me over said forest. After another few minutes we arrived at a desolate castle that seemed to have been rotted away by time and war.

Landing just inside we dropped through a hole in the roof and stood in a large room that was empty aside from two large thrones that stood in the centre. I was about to ask where we were but saw a tapestry still somewhat vibrant with colours that depicted two Alicorn’s, one dark as night and the other as white as day. “This is my sister’s and my old castle” Celestia spoke softly and I detected a bit of sadness in her voice.

I wandered aimlessly around the room while moving small chunks of rubble and debris from the throne room and checking underneath it “I’m guessing that the gems are further into the building?” I asked and received one of Celestia’s famous nods that told me more than I needed to know. I stood up off the ground and started to walk towards a staircase, hearing footsteps follow behind me I stuck my hand out to the side. “You should probably stay here or leave for that Celebration you need to be at” I spoke with finality in my voice.

She opened her mouth to complain but I quickly shut it with “No, you need to leave and prepare for the Celebration and what if Blaire tries something while you are down in here and unable to do anything” I finished and looked back at her, she could tell I was speaking the truth. She gave me a quick hug before spreading her wings and disappearing through the hole in the roof.

Unbeknownst to me that once she had gone through that hole a black body descended upon her and gave a quick blast of magic which effectively knocked the distracted Princess out, the black body grabbed the princess and flew towards another side of the castle and into a tower.

Happy that she was finally safe from harm I started to descend the stair case into the depths that lie beneath the decrepit castle and heard something slam shut loudly somewhere in the castle. “What the hell?” I asked while descending further down the stair case and after two rotations I found myself standing at the bottom and what lay before me was a massive hallway which was filled with doorways and other hallway cutaways.

“This is going to take hours” I said unenthusiastically before starting to open and search each room for the set of gems I required for the sword. A lot of the rooms seemed empty and dusty but a few were perfectly clean and smelled quite nice compared to the rest of the castle. “I wonder if someone is bumming it here?” I asked myself yet another question not expecting an answer like always.

I wandered through the halls for what seemed like and probably was hours on end, the amount of clean rooms increased the further I got into the abyss that was these ruins. “This sure is strange” I spoke yet again and heard my voice echo for a long time reaching a dead end for the 13th time in a row I finally gave up searching and decided to leave the ruins.

While making my way back through the halls I heard something in the distance and saw a faint light in the distance, suddenly all the sconces started lighting all the way up to me where it instantly stopped. Looking down the hall I saw a shadowy figure standing with what seemed like a smile on her face, I shivered when I heard her laugh ring out through the halls. It was a deep and evil laugh that would make even the happiest and purest of people cringe in fear and cower, I started to pull my sword out when I heard the click of heels on the floor and the figure slowly approached me.

While the large mare approached me I finished sliding my sword from its sheath, the only sound in the hall was her heels and my sword while it was being unsheathed “Look what we have here, we seem to have found a delicious morsel to play with” The creature spoke while staying in the shadows making it impossible for me to get a good look at her.

I stood in the same spot with my sword held up in front of me ready to attack and awaited the mare to step forward “What do you want?” I asked the unknown mare who stood deep in the shadows. She smiled and finally stepped into the light of the sconces. She was covered in a small cloak but was wearing a helmet and her eyes were just two slits in her head, she was wearing what looked like ancient armour and her teeth looked razor sharp.

She smiled a large toothy grin that caused my stance to falter in fear “Oh my, what are you my pet?” she asked from a distance before disappearing into the shadows and appearing right behind me while giving a deep sniff of my hair. “You don’t look or smell like any of my sister’s ponies. In fact you don’t even look like any creature I’ve ever seen” She spoke and continued to smell my hair and look me over.

I planter my foot on the ground behind me slightly and began to spin ready to hit her with the flat of my sword but swung into nothing and swirled around in an embarrassing mess almost falling backwards but was caught in the cold embrace of something. Looking up to what had caught me I saw the dark coloured mare holding me with an evil grin on her face she brought her face down slowly as if she was going to kiss me but then drove it down faster than I could comprehend and knocked me out cold, my body slumped in her arms and she hoisted me over her arms in triumph.

I woke up on the floor of a dark room with my hands and feet bound to each other I looked around to try and find anything to escape with “I need to find and tell Celestia about the being in her castle” I spoke to myself and while looking around I heard a door open behind me and quickly froze in the spot as the sound of heels approached me.

I felt a painful grip on my arms as I was forced to face my capturer “Looks like my little pet has awoken” she spoke while revealing her toothy grin yet again. “My sister would love to see the predicament her little saviour is in” she finished speaking and broke off my chains and binds but didn’t allow me to move from her grasp.

“How do you know Celestia, and you are not her sister” I spoke defiantly and bravely but cowered instantly when she gave me a glare that told me she would break every bone in my body if I spoke to her like that again. Sufficiently happy with my reaction to her gaze she began to escort me out of the room and down a dark hallway she kept muttering things about how her sister would break down when she saw her saviour captured, especially after she spoke so highly of him.

As we made our way down the dark halls I kept glancing through any of the doors which were open and tried to devise a plan of escape but failed every time I passed by a door and saw nothing inside it, most of the rooms were exactly the same and only held dusty and broken furniture. I was about to give up hope when we passed by a large room which held my sword and a set of circular stones which were all placed around it.

Deciding this was my best chance at defending myself and the princess I drove my elbow into the shadow mares gut and forced my way out of her vice like grip drawing blood from my arms and causing me to yell in pain. “How dare you” she spoke with a loud and commanding voice but I was already inside the room and picking up my sword.

I groaned while holding it in my hand with blood dripping off my hand and onto the blade. “God that hurts” I groaned and collapsed to my knees while using the sword as a crutch to keep me upright. The mare seemed to have gained composure again and started to wander over to my bleeding body, “Looks like you failed your escape horribly” she spoke proudly and loudly making her way to me slowly as happily.

I decided I should at least try to fight and stood up brandishing my blade and swinging it so that the blood flew off the blade and onto the ground with some of it splattering over the stones that stood near my sword. “Let’s go” I said bravely and got ready to fight as a bright flash enveloped the room and Twilight appeared behind me in a dazed state. I was about to say something to the lavender mare but was cut short by the yelling that had followed her appearance.

I watched in amazement as the five mares from before had dashed into the room and were gathering around their friend to help her. They seemed to completely ignore me which I didn’t find to horribly annoying since I was kind of bleeding out on the spot and decided to stagger past the shadowy creature that paid me no head while Twilight began speaking loudly about her friends and herself.

I wandered down the hall I was originally going down with the mare and yelled out the princesses name in hope she would respond but was treated with the cold silence of the castle, besides the sound of yelling behind me I couldn’t hear Celestia anywhere so I quickened my pace. “Celestia!” I shouted and this time I luckily received a yell back which sounded like it had come from a room near where I was.

I hurried and used the last ounce of my willpower and strength to throw open all the doors I could and find Celestia, luckily I founder her after the third door and saw she had been tied and something was placed around her horn probably to prevent her from using magic. She gasped when I started to untie her and she saw the blood dripping from my sword arm and once she was untied she embraced me quickly and started to cast healing spells on me which started to slow the bleeding and even close some of the wounds.

“I can’t believe she would do something so horrible to you” Celestia spoke loudly but I assured her it was me who had caused these injuries when I tried to get my sword to fight her. This seemed to calm her down a bit and she finished healing as much as she could and we made our way down the halls towards where the mare and Twilight had been before I came running towards Celestia.

When we made our way to the room I noticed that all yelling and fighting had stopped, scanning the room everything seemed fine but I couldn’t find the mare who had tried to hurt Celestia and myself. Instead I only found a small dark blue mare that lay on the ground over in a corner of the room. “Who’s that?” I asked Celestia but she just went over to the mare and stood over her.

“Hello Sister” The mare spoke happily but also sadly and tried to avoid eye contact with Celestia instead looking over to me and my sword. “Is that who I think it is?” she asked but was quickly silenced by a hug from Celestia.

“Dear Sister it is amazing to have you back here with us and not in that awful form like before” Celestia sobbed softly while holding the mare close to her. “Do you hold any resentment for my banishment?” Celestia asked but was pleased when the mare shook her head. “As for your other question he is not Harold but his son” Celestia spoke with a happy tone in her voice.

I was confused by how friendly they were being with each other but before I could say anything Twilight and her friends pulled me away “We should let them catch up, come with us and I’ll fill you in on what happened” Twilight spoke softly and led me away from the room that the two princesses were in.

I sat on the couch in Twilight’s house completely stunned when she had finished with her long history lecture about who the mare was and why she returned in that form. “So you are telling me she got so much resentment for her own sister she turned on her and tried to force this land into a permanent night?” I asked and received a quick nod from all six ponies in the room.

“And I am deeply sorry for trying all of that” I heard a voice say and while turning around I noticed a dark blue mare land on the balcony of the upstairs room. The mare made her way into the room and came down the stairs “Our name is Luna princess of the night” she bowed to me “and we are deeply sorry for any trouble we had caused you during our little episode” she spoke softly and seemed on the verge of tears as if she was remembering what she had done to me and her sister. I waved it off and gave her a small smile telling her it’s all right and I didn’t care since it worked out for the best.

I did however stand up and give Luna a tight hug that probably could’ve rivalled Celestia’s hugs “I’m fine as long as Celestia is okay” I spoke softly not knowing why I cared so much for Celestia but before I could think about it I continued talking “Hopefully sometime you could come and hang out with the ponies and myself sometime” I finished while releasing her from my titan like grip

“We would enjoy that very much thank you” Luna spoke while smiling. ‘That way of speaking disturbs me a bit hopefully she doesn’t talk that way all the time’ I thought to myself before waving off the princess who had made her way to the balcony and was about to fly off. I gave a quick wave and then she disappeared from sight.

Looking back at Twilight I decided something needed to be asked “So how did you defeat her?” I asked the lavender mare who was still staring at me dumbfounded as to how I could be so calm around a pony that had almost caused me to bleed to death.

Twilight snapped out of it almost immediately and told me she would show me this one time only, I nodded in agreement and waited patiently for her to show me. The room began to glow faintly and Twilight was lifted into the air as a crown appeared on her head which head a rather large gem inside it that reminded me of something I had recently read.

While trying to remember what it was her gem reminded me of my sword began to grow hot in its sheathe, I started to sweat slightly and asked Twilight if the heat was on but she responded with what do you mean, ‘Right other world’ I thought to myself while sitting in the spot. I decided I should retire for the night and made my way to the room that Twilight had allocated as my own; collapsing onto the bed I took my sword off and instantly felt cooler and a lot more relaxed. But for some odd reason the sheathe and sword felt different from before and looking over at it confirmed my beliefs, it had changed shape into a slightly large sword and while unsheathing it I noticed that instead of one gem slot it now held six and all where different shapes and sizes with the middle one being reminiscent of Twilight’s gem. That was when it hit me like a truck “Ouch horrible metaphor considering how I got here” I said softly and decided to go check if it was true.

Leaving the room I ran to Twilight’s room and asked the mare if she could show me her gem once more in an excited tone, she seemed displeased and was about to complain but for some reason stopped and made her crown appear on top of her head. I took the crown off and held it close to my sword, immediately it started to glow and grow hot in my hands as if it needed to be connected with the blade I also felt something happening to my body I felt exhausted, dropping the crown which was caught by twilight luckily I stumbled back feeling all my energy leave my body and I collapsed onto the mares bed and fell asleep.

Twilight was going to complain but for some reason again she didn’t say anything. Instead she simply lifted me into the bed, placed me under the covers and crawled in next to me. “Why am I doing this?” she said softly but forgot the question when she laid her eyes onto my sleeping form, deciding to leave it until the morning Twilight lay down and fell asleep while staring at my face.
