Chapters The Lunar Protègè (stopped for now)
Prologue: Luna's decision.
2 years ago, Canterlot.
The princesses sat in the throne room alone, their eyes shifting from window to window, they were nervous and for the most powerful creature in Equestria to be nervous there must be something very wrong. "What if the letter was an empty threat, they have not threatened us in thousands of years! This wait is gnawing at my spirit, I wish to go a walk." Luna said impatiently.
"If you are to leave, I will have an aetheral guard accompany you, they are our most elite guards and have never been defeated in battle. Nor have they ever failed a mission" Celestia suggested smugly, she personally trained every aetheral guard to make sure they were adequate for what their job entitled them to do. Celestia then called for a guard and instructed him to accompany Luna on her walk. The guard known as Captain Dusk nodded and motioned for Luna to follow him outside.
Luna trotted through the fields beneath Canterlot castle with a steady flapping of wings from behind her, the grass in the fields swayed lazily to the west and no life was apparent in these empty fields, Luna would often take walks like this to contemplate her new life in this new society that she had been detached from for 1000 years, she once met Twilight on one of these walks and often wished she could have such a promising student to follow in her hoofsteps, she imagined a powerful unicorn that could even rival twilight in a duel, her train of thought was interrupted by Captain Dusk blocking her path "Unknown pony ahead, stay here and I will check if it a friendly, whatever you do do not draw attention to yourself, you are a of royal descent and a prime target for attacks" Luna was surprised by how commanding the guard was, she could she why Celestia was so proud of these guards.
They both looked down the sea of grass and sure enough at the bottom she would see the silhouette of a pony further down the hill, despite Captain Dusk' s orders she followed behind him to see it. Shote ignited her horn to create a dull blue glow around the area so they could see better, upon closer inspection the pony appeared to be a young Stallion , blood had matted onto his sky blue coat and a deep cut down his flank across his cutie Mark was dripping with blood, next to the stallion a blood-stained knife was stuck into the ground at an awkward angle, whoever left here must of been in a rush to leave. "We have an injured civilian, stay with him and I will report back to Celestia!" Captain Dusk said before spreading his wings outward and taking off into the starry sky above.
After he had left Luna looked down at the Stallion she brushed his purplish hair off to the side and realized he was a unicorn, her gasp of realization seemed to wake him up as a quiet grain could be heard. " Hey there! There are better places to sleep than on the ground you know." Luna chuckled, she was not the best comedian but she found it funny, the Stallion opened his eyes to reveal yellow eyes beneath
" w-where am I? Why am I a- ahg!" He suddenly put his hoof to his head in pain, Luna decided he needed help soon and teleported them to the Canterlot hospital.
3 days later...
Luna patiently Sat next to the bed looking at the bandaged unicorn, after they got here she asked Twilight to do some research while she visited Canterlot on who this pony was but Twilight had found nothing "Who are you? You mysterious appeared in a field and now look at me watching over you. Almost like a mo- a mother..." she smiled warmly but jumped a bit as she heard the stallions dry, raspy laugh
"heh, I don't really have a family no'more, I don't know where they are now but they left me. Said I was too volatile and a disappointment to the family just cause I'm a unicorn!" He tried to sit up but fell back into the bed with a grunt. "I swear when I get out of here I'm going to learn that stupid spell and find them again, and then I'll bucking-" he stopped abruptly and looked down "sorry, sometimes I just...blow a fuse, I'm Wandering Dreamer by the way. Thank you for helping me, I'd be dead as a rock by now!" He laughed again but then started coughing.
Luna smiled at the stallion interesting personality and felt a strong feeling of trust between them " I am Princess Luna, ruler of the night sky!" She chuckled when she heard Dreamer suddenly gasp and put a hoof to his mouth " and I would like you to be my student, once you're all fixed up that is...I don't know why but I have a feeling you are destined for greatness!"
Dreamer looked at her with wide eyes, he seemed shell-shocked by her sudden statement but then he smirked and looked her in the eye "I make sure you don't regret it! I'll study and practice whenever needed!" He sarcastically saluted like a soldier and they both laughed.
The next day Dreamer was let out of the hospital and both Luna and him took a carriage back to the castle, after a surprisingly through inspection of Dreamer and a handful of protesters out the way they reached Celestia' s personal quarters, Luna excitedly knocked on the door and Celestia opened it wide when she saw her sister. "Luna, you are home! Nice to see you back and...who is this you have brought along with you? Is this the young Stallion Captain Dusk mentioned?" She leaned in close to Luna and whispered "His mane looks like Princess Cadence' s!" She smiled and let out a quiet laugh before regaining her composure.
"Yes, his name is Wandering Dreamer and he has no family, the reason I have brought him here to you is because I want your permission to...to ad- to adopt him..." Celestial gasped in Surpraise at his sister's unexpected request
"Well...er, I GUESS it would be ok. I assume you would also be his mentor?" Celestia asked seriously, she wanted to make sure that Luna was responsible enough for this.
"Yes, like you are to Twilight Sparkle, I wish to follow in your hoofsteps sister." Celestia blushed at this remark.
"I guess it would be ok... but remember that means he will then be your responsibility and part of the royal family" Luna and Dreamer squealed in delight before Luna ran and hugged her sister while Dreamer stood there smiling.
And this is when Wandering Dreamers story begun.

Chapter 1: A horrible nightmare.
Wandering Dreamer woke up in a dark room, he could not see and his magic was not working "A magic-proof room? Where am I? What's-what is that horrid smell?!" He put a hoof over his mouth to try and mask the smell. He then decided to walk around the emptiness until a figure blocked his path, no. Not a figure. A corpse.
He leaned in for a closer look but then fell back in fear, it was the corpse of his mother...Luna, she had been impaled with her own horn and there was a pool of blood around her, her lifeless eyes showed fear and pain but also Surprise, had she been betrayed by somepony? As if an answer to my question a smooth Canterlot-accent boomed through the room with a spotlight shone on them. "Welcome welcome. Yes, it is I! The heir to the throne and rightful ruler of Equestria! King Blueblood. Ah hahahahahehhehha!" His demonic laughing echoed across the plain room.
"Why would you kill her?! Your barely even certified to be a prince!" Dreamer was trembling, his voice was cracking, he wanted to just breakdown and cry. " If you think you've got away with this you are w-" Dreamer was cut short by a hoof pinning him to the ground by his neck.
"You are the last one, join me and we will rule together with an iron hoof!" He beckoned over to two similer corpses, Cadence and Celestia who were both killed in a similer fashion .
"Never, you bucked-up son of a b-" crack, Blueblood had stopped on Dreamers skull.
Dreamer bolted up, sweating "Are you alright Dreamer? You wouldn't wake up and I couldent look at your dream." Luna was surprised by her son's sudden hug. "What happened? What happened when you were asleep?" She asked with concern.
"Where is Blueblood? I had a horrible nightmare, he...He killed you...and auntie Celesti a too. It was horrible!" He was on the verge of tears and was looking around the room to make sure Blueblood wasn't there. He continued to hug his mother and she reassuringly comforted him.
"Do you want to talk m about it, I'm sure he would not do that." She leaned in and whispered "he may be spoilt but at least it keeps him out of trouble!" They both chuckled a bit before Logan looked off to the side and hen down at his cutie Mark.
" I want to find out what my cutie Mark means, it's been 2 years and the only special thing about me is how I can alter dreams too but it dissent match up with my cutie Mark..."
"Well, you know your aunties student? Twilight sparkle? Pherhaps you could meet her and you can find out together!" Luna smiled, she liked her idea. "And you could go make some friends too, I'll write to her to tell her you are coming, go pack whatever you want to take" she walked off before he could object.
"Well, looks like I have something to do then..."

Chapter 2: A letter to a student and a chariot accident.
Luna sat in her personal quarters alone, looking at the blank paper and the quill floating in the air, her mind was blank. She did not know what to write to inform Twilight of Wandering Dreamers imminent arrival. She closed her eyes and sighed "Just...write what you would say in person, easy right?" She slowly moved the quill to paper and began the letter.
To my sister's faithful student,
I am writing this letter to inform you of a new ponys imminent arrival to Ponyville and I wish for you to help him become acquainted to being around people.
His name is Wandering Dreamer and not only is he my student but also my son, his magic is unstable at times often leading to either an overload or an embarrassed Dreamer. He does not like being the centre of attention and would prefer conducting research on ancient spells, I'm sure you and him will get along fine. He is visiting to find the meaning of his cutie Mark as well as meet new people. If you and your friends could show him around it would be appreciated.
From Luna.
Luna looked down at the letter and smiled "Guard, could you please see this letter sent to Twilight Sparkle In Ponyville as soon as possible." The guard nodded and look the letter, she smiled as he left. " Now he just needs to get there..."
Wandering Dreamer sat looking at his yellow saddlebags, they were the same yellow as his eyes and bore a small image of his cutie Mark in the bottom right corner. He did not have much to put in it but he did not need much anyway. He took out a small notepad and started checking off items.
-Book on ancient arcane magic
-Notepad
-Emergency food
-Cloak
He frowned at the cloak and took it out of the bag, he looked at the fabric between his hooves, he had found this 2 years ago before he was attacked, there were still droplets of dried blood on the back, he refused to have it cleaned as it was one of the only remaining pieces of evidence towards the attempted murder 2 years ago. His thoughts were interrupted by a deep voice calling from the door. "Sir, your chariot is ready, if you would please follow me." The guard said before turning back to the long hallway and walking away, Dreamer leveraged his bag onto his back and trotted off after the guard. They walked down the chariot in silence, the only noise being their hooves tapping on the floor.
They reached the chariot and green Pegasus was waiting next to it, he had a cutie Mark of wind blowing. "Mornin' my name is Breezy blow and I'll be takin' you to that Ponyville place, please keep all hooves in the chariot and do not distract me while I'm flying. Thank you." Dreamer nodded in agreement and while the Pegasus hooked himself up to the chariot Dreamer thought about what his Mother had said to do.
"When you reach Ponyville go to the library to meet Twilight, she and her friends will show you around the town then you can go around on your own if you wish." He repeated to himself. The words echoed through his head, what if they didn't like him? What if he couldn't find the library? What if they lied to him? He stopped thinking negatively and looked at the chariot, he felt a tap on his back and turned around, it was Prince Blueblood. "W-what do you want Blueblood? Here to mock me about your AMAZING family tree?" Dreamer said sarcastically.
" Actually I came to wish you a good trip, just try not to be struck be lightning, I'm sure that would be such a shame..." He narrowed his eyes and smiled evilly " Don't worry, I'll make sure Princess Luna is alright." Dreamer winced at the last part, why had Luna told him about that.
"S-shut up, just because I'm her new son doesn't mean you have to be a royal pain in th-" Dreamers statement s interupted by Breezy Blow shouting about how she was all ready to go and could not wait to take me. "Shame I won't be there to see you fall in love...Oh wait, I remember now! Rarity loved you and then you decided to be all snooty and now she hates you... Oh well, it's a shame really, that was your only chance really." He smirked and jamp on the carriage. "I'll be off now, have a fun time with nobody!" He started waving as the chariot picked up speed and left the castle. "How long are we going to be flying for?" He then asked Breezy Blow.
"I'd say an hour or two, I may be fast but I'm carrying you along too. We should hurry though, I see storm clouds, they aren't supposed to be there" There was strain in her voice as she was going as fast as she could.
Within an hour the storm was upon them, the unnaturally black clouds preventing navigation and the rain was lashing at them like icicles. " The wind is too rough, I can't go much longer..." Breezy Blow was struggling to stay aloft. Suddenly an ear-shattering crack deafness them, they had been struck by a bolt of lightning, Dreamer could feel the air rushing past him as they fell from the sky, he only opened his eyes for a second to see the canopy of Everfree forest below them. With blurry of branch and vines grabbing at them He never expected the ground, with a sickening crunch he hit it full-force, he struggled to keep himself awake but then he heard more branches braking and looked up, the chariot was falling towards him.
