The Death Of Friendship

Suddenly, Twilight's horn started to glow, but also causing Twilight a huge amount of pain. "Ow! Ow! Ow! What in the ay was that?!" Twilight screamed.

"Twilight? What's wrong?" Applejack asked, worrying about her friend who was straining in agony.

Suddenly, the tormenting pain stopped. "I... I don't know, but it hurt, a lot!" Twilight replied. "Maybe I can trace the power source that made my horn do that? For all we know, it could have something to do with what happened to Equestria." Twilight horn shined as she traced the source of the painful power. "This way!" Twilight ran towards the source and the rest of her friends followed, all the way there, Twilight couldn't stop thinning about what caused it, it wasn't normal, she even thought about how painful it was, thinking that if it went on for any longer, she might wanted to cut her horn off with a hack saw, just to stop the pain, yeah, cutting your horn off would be painful, but not as painful as what she just suffered.

The source ended up bringing here to Princess Luna's office at the top of the castle. Twilight looked confused, why did the source bring her here? "Why did the source bring me here? What has this got to do with Princess Luna?" she wondered.

"Just go in, Twilight!" Rarity demanded.

"No! This is Princess Luna's private office, I can't just walk in!" Twilight stated.

"Well, it's not very useful to her now, if she's dead." Rainbow Dash stated. Twilight looked at her with a face that was not so friendly, she wasn't impressed, it seemed like she was joking about an Equestrian Princess dying, how disrespectful could you get? Twilight burst open the door with her magic and she looked inside to see a deserted office. Twilight tried to describe the room with using the word "wrecked" as it was worse than that, everything was almost destroyed exept a portal in the middle of the room, sparkling, dazzling, with a starry sky and a beautiful pathway inside it.

"It's amazing! Where do you think it leads?" Fluttershy asked.

"I don't think it leads anywhere. I think i know what this is, Princess Luna told me about it that one Nightmare Night she came to Ponyville. She said it was something called the dream vortex. When she enters someones dream to stop a nightmare, this is what she uses to get into them." Twilight explained.

"That's brilliant idea for her to produce! But does anyone think is strange that everything in this room is beyond wrecked and that the portal looks like it's brand new, untouched?" Pinkie Pie asked.

"Yeah, that does seem very strange now that I think of it." Twilight's expression changed when Pinkie Pie pointed it out. She approached the portal and layer her purple hoof on it. Ripples were created on the surface of the portal as soon as she touched it, like water ripples, the harder she touched it, the bigger the ripples were. The ponies were confused, except for Twilight, as she recognised the spell instantly. "This is a protection spell! But I don't understand..."

"Why don't you understand, Twilight? I thought you recognised it." Rainbow Dash asked.

"I do recognise it, but the reason I don't understand is because to create a spell, a pony needs to be alive!No life, no magic." Twilight explained while replying to Rainbow Dash. She thought it was one of the most stupid questions she had every asked, I mean come on! Does she really think that one of the best unicorns in Equestria didn't recognise a simple protection spell?

"Are you suggesting that Princess Luna survived this apocalypse?" Fluttershy asked.

"Yes I am, but Fluttershy, remember what you noticed in the throne room about an hour ago, a curious symbol on the moon, constant night and Princess Luna's body wasn't found and we had a hunch it was Nightmare Moon who done it? I don't like thinking about it, obviously, but I was also suggesting it could be Nightmare Moon." Twilight suggested, she didn't like the idea, but it was still a hunch.

"What's the difference? Nightmare Moon is Princess Luna, accept she is evil, either way, Princess Luna is still alive, and lets just hope she isn't Nightmare Moon. Otherwise we're all in trouble." Applejack stated.

Twilight, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, stepped through the portal to the dream vortex. It was glowing blue like the night sky, but some of the ponies felt a bit dizzy, disorientated, as the ground didn't feel solid and the beautiful path looked like only stars and nothing else, so it looked like an illusion, it was if they were gliding through the sky with no ground to pull them down, it felt like being on the moon, low gravity. Everypony was only interested on who was in here and what happened to Equestria, but Pinkie Pie just liked messing around as always, she was having a blast on low gravity, laughing and happy. As they walked forward, a blue image appeared in the distance. It was Princess Luna.

"Princess Twilight, thank goodness you survived this apocalypse, luckely i also survived." Princess Luna shouted from a distance.

"Princess Luna! Thank goodness, some pony survived this, thank goodness it was some pony who can help!" Twilight had a tear of happiness in her eye, to see some pony she wanted to see, some pony positive. But something was wrong, as Twilight and her friends approached Princess Luna, her image started to fade and her image seemed further away the closer she tried to get to her. Soon, the image of Princess Luna faded away completely to bring a new image that no pony wanted to see ever again, a dark coloured figure that was also dark in the heart. The ponies stood still, silently in shock to see Nightmare Moon, laughing at them for their stupidity, thinking that it was Princess Luna.
