Chapters Twilight Sparkle was busily organizing a set of books when she heard somepony enter. Pausing for a moment, the purple pony glanced to the front door of the library to see Rarity in a new outfit.
“Hi Rarity, cute dress!” Twilight complimented her friend her greeting.
The white pony was distracted at first, her eyes looking about, but she then took notice of Twilight patiently waiting for a reply and smiled. “Thank you, Twilight.” Rarity said and slowly spun around in place, allowing the bottom hem of the pastel-yellow material to flutter and dance from the motion before settling back down. “With Spring haven just arrived, I'm feeling that simple will be this season's complex!”
“Uh, yeah!” Twilight bobbed her head in feigned understanding. While science always piqued her curiosity, the finer details of fashion composed a puzzle as perplexing as Pinkie Pie. “So, how can I help you today?” She asked, stepping toward the other unicorn.
Rarity blinked as though the question had caught her off guard. “...I don't really need help, per se." She began, as though grasping for words. "I just...wanted to...show off my dress to everypony! I've just come from Fluttershy's cottage and I wanted to know what you thought next.”
The librarian nodded in agreement and with a light purple glow of her horn, returned to stacking books onto the shelves while still looking ahead at her friend. “Well, I gotta say, you look really good in it. Simple and practical.”
“If you want, I can make you one just like it! I know how much you loved your birthday dress!”
Twilight's eyes widened. “Really ?” The books floating up to the shelves thanks to her hold nearly fell to the ground en masse from the sudden lapse of her concentration. Sensing the slip, she looked over her shoulder to place the tomes in their proper place.
“Hiya Rarity!” calling out with a pant, Twilight's small dragon assistant rushed in from another room to place the stack of papers in his arms onto a nearby table. The stack was at least half-as tall as the baby dragon, who was currently panting and trying to catch his breath.
“Hello there, Spike.” Rarity greeted the dragon with a smile. “Well, I can see that you two are awfully busy. I shan’t take up more of your time!” The pony turned to leave when Spike called out to her.
“Rarity, wait!” She looked over her shoulder and watched as he rushed out of the room. He returned shortly, nearly stumbling in his hurry with his clawed hands kept behind his back. “It's not really fancy, and...well, it was nearby anyway but I got it because it was really pretty not because it was easier to do! I, uh, anyways...I picked this for you!” the dragon brought his hands up to show he had been hiding a red and orange flower behind his back.
“Why thank you, Spikey-wikey.” She sniffed at the flower. The fragrance was sweet with a hint of spiciness. “It smells wonderful.” Rarity smiled from ear to ear at the gesture. The dragon's face was flush with red and his eyes were looking away. She chuckled. “Ah...”
“Spike that's very thoughtful of you.” Twilight stepped up to look at the flower. “An orange and red Gerbera Plantae.”
As the purple pony bent her head down to sniff the flower, Rarity bit her lip to the sudden sensation within her. There was a twitch, and then a jump. She squirmed, pressing her rear legs together to bask in the feeling.
“Twilight, cut it out. You don't have to be so embarrassi-” Spike paused and looked around.
“Spike, are you okay?” Twilight lent a worried look toward her dragon assistant.

Twilight raised her ears. “No, can't say I do, Spike.” she answered.
Breaking out of her reverie, Rarity shook her head. Her dress began to feel stifling hot.
“Oh. Must be hearing things.” Spike shrugged his shoulders. “Hey Twilight, after I finish cleaning up the bathroom, can we go out for sandwiches?”
“Sure, Spike. But after you wash your hands.”
“Duh!” Spike nonetheless laughed at the comment. “Rarity, you wanna come with?” His tail wagged back and forth.
“M-maybe next time, Spike. I'll be a bit busy soon.”
“Oh.” His wagging tail came to a stop. “Well. I guess next time, then.” With that he returned to finish his chores.
The vibrations slowed and then stopped, much to Rarity's relief. She was unsure how much longer she could have gone through that before she let out a moan.
“Spike you forgot to give her the..." Twilight began to call out but realized he was too far by now. "Say, Rarity, I hope this doesn't sound strange to ask but, have you noticed if Spike has been acting a bit...weird?”
“What? No, darling...can't...say that I have...why do you ask?”
“Recently he's just seemed more...tired, I guess.” She looked toward the other room and sighed. “He's the same old Spike and all, but he seems distracted. It's like there's been something bothering him lately.”
“He's not skipping out on his sleep, is he?”
“No, of course not, Rarity. Spike couldn't stay up late even if he tried! He's a baby dragon, after all.”
“...Right. Of course.” Rarity nodded. She felt another kick within her, eliciting a tiny squeal. “Ah!-anyways, I think it's about time for me to...to leave.”
“Okay.” The two ponies walked toward the front door, with Rarity trailing right behind Twilight. “It was nice of you to stop by, Rarity, and again, you look really nice in that dr-” Twilight paused. Her ears perked and twisted about. “You know, I'm starting to hear the buzzing, too.” She pursed her lips in thought while glancing around the room.
“Uh...g-good luck with finding whatever that is!” Rarity's horn glowed a faint blue and opened the door. Lightly biting her bottom lip, the white pony took quicker steps, almost at a trot as she became more eager than ever to exit. The heat was starting to build higher and higher and she wasn't sure if she could hide her climax from the other unicorn.
“Take care, Rarity.”
“I'll...” Rarity paused, letting this wave pass before continuing. “...see you.”
Stepping out of the the library, Rarity looked around her. The dirt roads were clear. At least for the moment, nopony would see her step into a large bush just across road from the library tree.

“Bee Flies get really excited for pollen around spring time. Following the insect's erratic path, Rarity watched as it left the flower in his hand and landed on one on the ground.
She looked around her, realizing that all around within the bush were the same red and orange flowers.

Rarity knew what he meant by that and shuddered at the thought. “But what if it doesn't get out?”

You know, since I got the urge again, and all.” He pouted at the look on Rarity's face and sighed. What? “I'll be just as gentle with her as I am with you, alright?”

His grin melted away, leaving only an expressionless stare.
“You're mine.” His voice turned stern. “What's yours is mine.” Hopping to his feet, the dragon walked confidently toward the mare, causing her to stumble away from his approach. “Wasn't it kind of me to give you a break? You were working so hard, after all, listening to my orders. So doesn't it make sense that since I gave you a day off, somepony has to take your place.”
“No.” Her last few backward steps brought her bumping up against the wall.
“No?” He drew closer. A flash of irritation appeared on his face. “I'm finding it strange how you're using a word I didn't teach you so many times now.”
“No! W-what I mean was-”
Her exclamation was cut off as he pressed his finger against her lips. “Shh. Don't forget that Sweetie Belle's sleeping. Inside voice, please.”
She looked through the open doorway, watching the smaller white pony breathe in shallow, peaceful breaths. The filly yawned and turned over so she was facing away from them.
Rarity gulped and looked back to his eyes. His cold, green eyes.
Parting her lips, Rarity curled her tongue around his finger. She closed her lips around it, letting her tongue dance around his scaly finger. “Let me take care of your urge.” She said amidst sucking on his digit. “Come with me to my bedroom.”
“I couldn't, Rarity!" He feigned shock. "It's your day off! I care too much about you to ignore your stress. It wouldn't do if you got sick and I had to replace you for another day”
“Don't be silly...” she quickly replied. Taking his finger out of his mouth, Rarity stood on her hind legs, hanging her front hooves around his neck and brought her face close to his. “...alright.” He finally acquiesced. “Then turn around and put your hooves on the wall.”
“What?" Rarity was unable to keep her tone from raising. "N-no, not here...let's go to my bedroo-”

She took a step back, dropped to all fours and looked again into the guest room. Through the open door, Rarity could see the curly mane of Sweetie Belle poking over the sheets she had wrapped around herself. If she were awake, the filly would most definitely be able to see her in the hallway. It made Rarity's heart race.

With Hearth's Warming Eve coming up in a few months, I'm just excited to be a part of Ponyville's celebration, this year! Aren't you?”
“Yeah, Twilight. Sure am.” Spike nodded. He had pretty much forgotten that Ponyville was selected to perform at Canterlot for this year's performance. And so while Ponyville generally enjoyed its preparation for the performance (apparently with a better track record of meeting their deadlines than Winter Wrap Up) performing for the Princess and Canterlot ponies placed a lot of pressure that Twilight and the girls naturally stepped up to handle.
Not only that, but Spike had excitedly volunteered to be the narrator, in the hopes of impressing Rarity who was not just helping with costume design but was one of the main characters.
After a blink, Twilight was suddenly just inches away from his face, staring at him intently. “Hmmm...It looks to me that you're pretty tired from having such little sleep, Spike. I'm proud that you managed to stay up so late, but you should take a nap. I'll make sure to wake you up before we leave.” And with that, Twilight trotted to the other room to begin her day's studies.
As soon as he was sure that Twilight had left, Spike wiped the brow and let out a relieved exhale. 'That's right...yesterday was my birthday...' he thought back. 'I guess it was because I stayed up all night, and had all those dreams that I thought it's been longer than that...' Obeying his need to yawn, Spike felt like taking up the unicorn's suggestion and went to his bed to rest for what was to come later that day.

“Hey.” Spike replied less enthused while tiredly while riding atop the purple pony's back. His most recent nightmare had ended his nap about three hours early and left him feeling haggard and fatigued. Unlike his last one, the dragon was unable to go back to sleep and simply lied in his bed until Twilight came by to wake him up. As a result of being sleep deprived and mentally stressed, spike was finding it difficult to maintain his balance. Rather than falling off in a daze, the dragon hopped to the ground and followed after the two ponies.
As the hat-wearing pony opened the barn door, the three of them heard an excited voice nearby and looked skyward to see two pegasi descending toward them.
“C'mon, when are we gonna get that armor on? I bet I'd look so awesome in it!” They heard the blue pegasus proclaim.
The yellow pegasus flying alongside her looked less confident. “Um, I'm still not too set on my role. Being a soldier seems a bit...violent...”
“Guh...” Rainbow was the first to land and gave an exaggerated sigh. “Fluttershy, there's like, practically no fighting in the play at all. Which is totally lame, but it's not like anypony would just change the story all of a sudden, right?”
“...but there's lots of arguing...I always have to close my eyes during those scenes every year it's shown. Since we're in charge this year, couldn't we, I don't know...tweak the play so they get along from the beginning?”
“What? Then what'd be the point of the Hearth's Warming Eve celebration if the founders got along?”
“Dash is right, Fluttershy.” Twilight stepped in and placed an assuring hoof on the yellow pegasus' shoulder. “Hearth's Warming Eve is all about how the first ponies of Equestria finally managed to overcome their differences and disagreements. While I do find it a bit jarring how the three pony tribes were so antagonistic to one another, that's unfortunately the reality that our ancestors faced.”
“I guess that makes sense...” Fluttershy nodded, accepting her friends' reasons but not looking very enthusiastic about them either.
The four ponies and Spike then all entered the barn, where several long planks and wide boards of wood were leaning against the far walls. Buckets of paint were kept nearby, along with brushes. It didn't take long to get started on painting a few parts of the background scenery when soon enough, Rarity and Pinkie Pie arrived.
“Heya, everypony!!” The bouncing earth pony cheered earnestly with a wide smile. Following her at a more sedate pace, Rarity showed a measured smile as she greeted the others as well.
“Sorry we're late, girls. Pinkie was just dying to show me something at Sugarcube Corner. And nearly had me locked inside the pantry...” She said in a lower voice and frowned at the memory but quickly regained her composure. Picking up speed, she trotted the rest of the way and met Twilight standing next to a rack filled with the costumes from previous performances.
“I already said I was sorry, Rarity!” Pinkie giggled and bounced around her friend. “Was totally an accident!”
“While I do believe you and accept your apology, Pinkie, the incident was nonetheless a terrifying event!”
Spike perked up from his work area close to the barn door as the seamstress entered and greeted the other ponies. He had since shaken off the weird dreams from his thoughts and hurried over to greet her, when-
“Hi, Spike!” Pinkie Pie chimed out and hopped in front of him.
Skidding to a stop, Spike was at a loss how to react at first, but then regained the sense to look at the pink pony. “Uh...hi.” He remarked curtly before moving around her to get closer to Rarity. Pinkie then managed to obstruct him once more, hopping again into view.
“Are you excited about being the narrator for this year's play, Spike?” without waiting for his response, Pinkie continued on. “I'm definitely super-duper happy I got the part of Chancellor Puddinghead, she's like, my favorite character, you know? Wouldn't it have been weird if I somehow got Fluttershy or Twilight's roles? I'm an earth pony and they're not, so of course that wouldn't make sense even though I could wear a fake horn or fake wings, I-” Stopping only when Spike clamped her mouth with his claw, Pinkie watched him rush away, looking obviously disgruntled and angry.
“Boy, your nightmare last night must have been really bad, huh?”
Spike froze in place when he heard that. As the other girls were on the other side of the barn, going over the costume designs and set materials that would be needed—under Rarity and Applejack's management and Twilight's supervision, it was only Spike and Pinkie Pie still at the barn entrance.
Spike slowly turned around to face the curly-maned pony. “Say, Pinkie...I have a question to ask.”
“Yes, Spike?”
Spike remembered waking up during the night at one point. Somepony was there in bed to sooth him back to sleep after that nightmare. And then there was the one he had during his nap. And instead of Rarity, the pony he was attacking was instead the one dutifully waiting for his question with an expectant look on her pink face. He thought over his choice of words carefully, not wanting to be mistaken or misunderstood. “...I just wanted to ask you...what it is we really did last night at your place...”
The party pony tilted her head and lent him a quizzical stare. It was a surprisingly long period of a few seconds of her just aiming her pale blue eyes toward him. She blinked and hummed in thought. After a moment, she shrugged her shoulders and said with a smile “...I've got no idea if you don't, Spike!” before finally hopping away, joining the other girls.
Spike blinked and stood there, dumbfounded.
'Was it all just a dream, then? Did I just sleep over at Pinkie's and nothing happened...?' Shrugging his shoulders, Spike rushed off to help with the play preparations.

With great care, and Twilight's management and organizational skills, the six ponies and one dragon succeeded in hammering out all of the big details for their Hearth's Warming Eve play to be held in Canterlot.
The pegasi, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, were rehearsing their lines while the earth ponies Applejack and Pinkie Pie were discussing how best to make build the scenery. Rarity had already begun making measurements and stitching the first stage of each of their costumes. Twilight Sparkle did not have a specific task outside of assisting each group. All the while, Spike was sitting close by the boisterous “Commander Hurricane” as she continued various ways of bossing her subordinate around, much to Fluttershy's meek protests.
The sheer pace of work had kept Spike from being able to strike up conversation with Rarity, as she was always too busy discussing with Twilight or the other ponies about their costume preferences or involved with developing the revised script. At the same time he was constantly sent on errands or was writing in and ticking off items from Twilight's checklist. It was a bit frustrating, but Spike knew how important a production this year's play was, given that it was to take place in Canterlot.
But for the moment, Spike was given some reprieve to get started on his role as the play's narrator, sitting on a bale of hay nearby the others' work spaces. Taking his eyes off the sheet of paper that held his own narrator's script, Spike looked over at Rarity and sighed. His eyes roamed over the white pony's form.
He immediately became transfixed with the subtle curves of her back, as they sloped to her flanks. The purple hair of the unicorn's curly tail swayed alluringly, bringing his attention to her taut buttocks. His body grew warmer and mind hazy. Spike licked his lips, unsure what was prompting his sudden ravenous mood, when Pinkie Pie hopped right in front of him and obscuring his view.

“Wha?” Spike blinked as his daze broke once his line of sight was blocked and he yelped when he was unceremoniously thrown onto baker's back.
“Hey girls, I need to get a few things from Sugarcube Corner so I'm borrowing Spike for a bit, 'kay?”
“Sure thing.” Twilight agreed in half-attention while looking over the blueprints for the stage with Applejack. The other ponies muttered to the same effect or were too busy with their own preparations to answer.
Nearly falling off, Spike grabbed hold of the pony's sides for dear life as Pinkie bounded out of the barn. He adjusted his position on his back and faced forward when he felt he was more or less used to her particular motions as she galloped down the dirt road.
Looking over Pinkie's head from his vantage point atop her back, Spike watched as they approached town, and Sugarcube Corner quickly came into view. They deftly avoided or hopped over the townsponies milling about, then passed the unmistakable Ponyville landmark, continuing on until they arrived instead at the library.
“I thought we were going to Sugarcube Corner. Why are we here?” Spike tried to look at Pinkie's face from behind as she opened the door and stepped into the library. When she stopped in the middle of the room, Spike hopped to the ground and rushed to stand in front of her. “Why are we here?”
“The Cakes are home and we can't disturb them.”
“'Can't disturb them'? I don't get it...I thought we were picking something up for the play.”
“That's because I lied.” She replied with a smile.
Spike shook his head in bewilderment, but her strange behavior and words recently finally made him realize. “Pinkie, you know. Don't you? You were there when I had that nightmare.”
“Yeah.” The pony continued to smile, but it looked forced as his questions continued.
“...and what do you know about my dreams?”
Her smile faltered at this point, but Pinkie barely managed to retain the semblance of one, if only weaker. “I don't know exactly, but...they were about awful acts that you did to...”
“To...?” Spike asked, already sure what she was going to say next but he needed it to be confirmed.
She gulped. “...Rarity.” Pinkie completed her sentence. Confirmed the worst.
Spike shivered, the images returning to his mind's eye in full force. “So...what you said to Twilight this morning about a party last night...was also a lie...and I really did to Rarity...I...?”
Pinkie's smile finally dropped and she stepped forward. “Whatever it was you dreamed doing to Rarity never happened, Spike. I can promise you that.”
“Oh.” He breathed a sigh of relief. He inhaled deeply and let out a long, drawn out exhale and rubbed the back of his head with his clawed hand. Spike managed to crack a weak smile of his own. “Then that means...that other dream I had today...of us...”
Pinkie averted her eyes. “That wasn't a dream.”
“...what?”
Her blue eyes returned to looking toward Spike. “That...wasn't a dream, Spike.” Pinkie repeated herself, wearing a straight face. Her tone was quiet and even and her facial expression neutral. “Last night, just outside of the Carousel Boutique...” she noticed his wide eyes and raised brow. She obviously struggled to continue. Pinkie took a deep breath and then let out a loud exhale. “We had sex so what you dreamed wouldn't happen.”
“So...I was going to...but then you...?” Spike frowned. His arms dropped to his sides. He was unable to register what it was Pinkie had just said. “But...you just said my dream never happened, and so I shouldn't have...”
Spike shook his head slowly. He refused to believe it. He needed to hear something that made sense of it all. “H-how do you even know all this? Is this a part of your Pinkie Sense?”
“No.” Pinkie said, taking a step forward.
“Then...how?” Spike took a step back.
“...I can't say. It's...complicated.” She took another step forward.
Spike tried to step back, but found that he was already against the wall.
“This is a really messed up prank, Pinkie. Did Twilight put you up to this?”
“...I can't joke when my friends' safety is in danger.” She half-replied.
“So who told you?”
“I can't say, Spike! I Pinkie-Promised not to.”
“Then...then I'll just tell Rarity about my dreams!” He tried to bluff. At this point Spike knew there was no way he could involved Rarity. Not if he had to reveal those dreams to her. But this was something he would take to his grave if he could help it.
“You can't get near Rarity.” Pinkie protested. “Because I can't let your nightmare come true.”
“Hello, Pinkie? You just told me that one of them already did! If you really wanted to stop it then why can't you tell me?”
“What happened this time is different...But with Rarity, I can't-”
“-say? Because it's complicated? Because of a Pinkie-Promise? For Celestia's sake, Pinkie, I...” Spike nearly choked on what he was about to say. The taste of his saliva had grown sour and revolting as the words continued to spew out of his mouth. “I-I raped you! I had dreams of raping and torturing Rarity! And last night I raped you and yet in front of everypony else you were acting as if it never happened! I...” Spike was frustrated and confused by how much none of this was making sense. He was irritated by how absurd the pony standing in front of him was being.
“As long as my friends are happy, I'm happy...” Pinkie answered sternly. “And because I know what will happen if you ever got close to Rarity is...” she stopped herself. “...I'll do anything to stop that, even knowing the consequences of what it means for me.”
“Is it that terrible for me to be with her?” The dragon's anger flared now. “Are you saying after all this time that I've only been after her body...that anypony was good enough as long as I was satisfied!?”
Pinkie clenched her jaw, not immediately responding. She stared at him in astonishment, as though she had finally realized something. “You really don't remember at all, do you?” She gave a derisive laugh, and shook her head. “Even after all you said last night...”
“Arrgh! Since I don't, tell me already!”
“I already said I-”
“FINE, THEN!” Spike yelled out and ran toward the door. In an instant, the dragon was pushed to the ground as Pinkie quickly pounced and managed to pin him. “L-let me go!”
Pinkie struggled to keep him from breaking free, but nearly toppled over when he rolled over to the side and onto his back. However, she regained her balance on her rear legs and slammed her rump onto his gut, knocking the wind out of him and managing to hold Spike down in a more secure manner.
Even while wheezing, Spike squirmed under the pony's greater leverage over him. He gulped and grit his teeth, hoping to look intimidating.
It seemed to have failed, as Pinkie continued silently sitting on top of him.
This angered Spike more and he growled at her and tried to snap his jaw at her, which she easily avoided because she was out of his reach.
Then, an idea came to him. With a gulp, the dragon suddenly belched a ball of flame, scaring Pinkie off of him. She rolled toward the door to cut off his escape, but Spike jumped to his feet and ran instead toward the stairs.
She took chase, able to close the distance in a few bounds and pounced on Spike again when they reached the second floor.
Panting for breath, Spike rolled onto his back, finding that she had allowed him to but she immediately craned her head close enough for him to count her individual eyelashes.
“Pinkie...” Spike breathed out, feeling the same heat he felt when he was watching Rarity back at Sweet Apple Acres. He smelt perspiration and felt her body against his.
Their faces drew close.
He clenched his eyes, trying to clear away those thoughts. “We shouldn't be...” Spike breathed out. His mind was becoming hazy. “I won't hold back if...”
“...there's...no choice...” she whispered between breaths as their snouts touched.
Their lips touched. Then they brushed against one another.
Electricity and fire and ice elicited a small shutter from her as they broke contact and she leaned away. Pinkie's eyes soon became half-lidded and she brought her face close to his again.
His upper lip felt the rough texture of her tongue. He reciprocated the gesture. Their noses pressed against once another. Their breaths grew heavier.
“See?...it's dangerous...for you to...hold your urges in...you'd...attack...”
“Pink...ie...” Spike finally breathed out as their lips pressed more firmly.
They each made small, slow pecks against each others' lips, imprinting into their minds the taste and feel of the other.
Spike couldn't say that she had any distinct taste. If anything, Pinkie Pie's kisses gave him the impression of a particular texture. Her lips were soft and supple. Like a marshmallow. Remaining still, Pinkie accepted his ministrations and moaned. After a few seconds, she pulled her tongue back and Spike gave chase into her mouth. Pinkie stepped off of him and began stepping back, and he followed after her. Their surroundings had become a blur and the two found themselves now on Twilight's bed. Spike's clawed hands began to roam all over the pony's body, the hairs of her pink coat and the contours of her legs and torso. They rolled around on the bed until he was on top of her, kissing all the while.
She gasped and pulled her face away from his. Pinkie looked down to her waist and noted his exposed member and with slight impatience, Spike pushed his hips toward her. Spike remained lying in bed as his thoughts slowly began to return and the fog cleared away. He stared at the ceiling, counting the grooves in the wood. He heard the faucet running beyond the bathroom door. As soon as his penis had re-sheathed itself, Spike sat up and leaned his back against the headboard. The dragon looked over the state of Twilight's sheets without any sort of panic, contrary to what he thought would happen. “Spike...” she sighed and came to a stop behind him at the door.
“...well, I mean it doesn't have to be tonight, but anytime you were hungry...”
“Spike.”
“...and had free time, I was thinking that I could cook someth-”
“Spike!” her loud tone had stopped him mid-sentence. More pressingly, the purple dragon was taken aback when he heard her let out a distressed sigh. “...don't...” she said while slowly shaking her head.
“'Don't' what?” nearly stumbling on those two words, Spike furrowed his eyes at her reaction.
Pinkie placed a hoof on his shoulder and arched her eyebrows upward. He flinched at first, but settled and managed to relax slightly. There was a slight pause before she spoke.
“I'm sorry if you misinterpreted my intentions, Spike.” Her eyes were calm, voice stern and her directness had instantly grabbed his attention. “Please understand, I only did what I did to protect Rarity and the others. And even if I...it wouldn't be good for the others to know what happened. So let's just pretend it didn't.”
Silent for a moment, his mind then immediately understood what she was saying. It took some effort to hide his embarrassment but it wasn't too difficult. But it was hard to cover up the surprise in his voice. “R-right...” Spike nodded. He offered a weak smile and gulped. “Of course.”
Whatever it was that caused him to...attack...Pinkie Pie last night was sure to happen again if it wasn't regularly taken care of. And the fact that it happened outside of Rarity's boutique meant that she was the one he was intending to go after...there was no pretending now that he was somehow possessed and unable to control his body, considering what he and Pinkie had just finished doing not a moment ago.
Staring at the floor for a while, Spike looked up to Pinkie's blue eyes once more and her mouth turned up into a smile, albeit a small one.
Taking her hoof off of his shoulder, Pinkie opened the door and looked back toward him, wearing a fuller smile that only left him feeling cold. “I'll be sure to help you again tomorrow. But don't hesitate to come to me if the urge gets too much to hold back, ok?”
Spike nodded.
Pinkie lingered for a moment before stepping outside. “I'll tell the girls we couldn't find what we were looking for, and that you suddenly felt sleepy. So you can just stay back here at the library. See you, Spike.”
The dragon nodded and closed the door as she turned to leave.
Spike simply stood there, quietly staring at the door.
Outside, Pinkie leaned against the bark of the library tree, her eyes clenched shut.
It was disturbing to Spike how easily Pinkie was able to laugh and smile and goof off in front of everyone.
To act cheerful.
To fake happiness.
To pretend as though the dark secret between them did not exist.
Work continued on the Hearth's Warming Eve preparations and the girls had now moved on to leading their own separate projects as more involvement was needed from the other townsponies. During the day Spike would practice his lines as the narrator, as well as lend a helping claw to the others. Pinkie Pie practiced her scenes with Applejack, as well as worked on constructing and painting the set pieces of the various scenes the play would take place in.
With winter fast approaching, everypony had their own responsibilities outside of the play, as well.
Over the course of the last few weeks, parties were still planned, cakes were baked, jokes told and pranks pulled all over Ponyville. The library was busy as ever, hosting meetings of the various groups and associations from all over town; books were still borrowed and returned and needed to be organized and reorganized as well.
But even with their busy schedules, towards the end of each day when Sugarcube Corner closed, Pinkie Pie would sneak out into the night and rendezvous with Spike.
What would their friends think if they knew? How would they react?
During the day, when amongst their friends, the pink pony and purple dragon conversed as they always did. Interacted with the others as though everything was normal. Then at night, they would meet at prearranged places that were sure to be abandoned or empty of any ponies that could hear or see them. In those private moments, neither would speak a word. Their bodies meet and quake and their breathing would grow heavy. Their lips would meet at the peak of orgasm. They would remain in each others' embrace, then they would separate in silence and head to their respective homes.

Growing increasingly concerned, Pinkie Pie finally managed to excuse herself from today's rehearsal to look for Spike. It wasn't too difficult a search, knowing that there would only be a few places he'd likely be, and soon enough she found him lying atop Twilight's bed on the second floor of the library.
Though there was still daylight, the sun had begun to set over the horizon, and in its wane it cast an orange haze and elongated shadows stretched outwards in the upstairs portion of the library. Feeling no uncertainty, Pinkie stood at the top of the stairs with furrowed brows aimed at the dragon whose back was turned toward her. “Spike, where have you been? Why haven't you been coming to our meetings like we promised?”
When he did not answer her, Pinkie slowly trotted closer to the bed, her voice sterner. “Spike, answer me. Why are you holding back your urge right now?”
“...seem to...” He mumbled.
“What was that?” She asked, feeling a bit of frustration growing from his uncooperative behavior. She walked around to the other side of the bed for him to simply turn over and face the opposite side.
“I said...” Spike's voice was muffled into the pillow. “...you always seem to...urges...”
“Spike, what are you talking about?” Pinkie exhaled. She stood in place this time, but made sure to speak at a louder volume.
“...even before I feel them...” He continued, looking away still while lying on the bed. “You'd show up...then we have sex...then you leave...always the same thing...”
“Spike, you're the one who had those dreams...and what we've been doing is the only way to stop them from happening. It's important that you don't let your urges fester for too long.”
“And I'm saying...” Spike's words had become clearer; his face was no longer pressed against the pillow as he said accusingly. “...that I've started to think that it isn't really me that's been getting urges.”
“Is that supposed to be a joke?” Pinkie snipped at the remark. “Well if it is, it's not funny. You don't know what you're talking about.”
Spike quickly turned over to face her and sat up on the bed. His face was haggard and his eyes were bloodshot. “Well it's been a few days already, hasn't it?” He asked in a simmering rage. “And yet nothing like your terrible warnings or whatever came true! I think I've shown that I can manage it just fine by myself.” He turned once more to drop his face back down onto the bed, but a pink hoof had grasped his shoulder, halting him.
Pinkie stepped closer to the bedside, her own expression serious. “I'm not kidding, Spike. Stop being so stubborn. It's putting everypony in danger and if you don't cooperate then I-”
He smacked her hoof off of his shoulder, but she didn't wince. “'Then you'll what? Huh, Pinkie?” Spike said in a growl and pressed his face against hers.
She clenched her jaw and controlled her heavy breathing, not taking his bait.
They remained in silence, simply staring and waiting for the other to make the first move.
Taking a gulp, Spike decided to take the initiative and pressed his lips against hers. She did not pull away, but at the same time, the pony did not reciprocate his actions. Seconds passed and when he finally broke the kiss, Pinkie remained where she stood, but averted her eyes to cast a downward look to the floor.
Taking a deep breath, Spike closed his eyes and moved in to kiss her again. After a moment, he darted his tongue to stroke Pinkie's lips, causing them to part and accept him into her mouth.
Opening his eyes, he saw that Pinkie's own blue eyes were open as well but half-lidded, and she simply looked ahead in a distracted stare. Spike's movements slowed but he did not stop, despite the strange scene of her kissing him with eyes still open. He chose to close his eyes once more and tilted his head to the side to allow his tongue more access to explore her mouth.
His thin tongue stroked against her larger, flat-tipped teeth. Pinkie sighed and moaned.
Spike smiled over his small victory.
Their lips parted from another and both of them were now panting softly. Without a word, she turned her body to face away from him and raised her lower half in presentation. Her fluffy pink tail remained draped over her rear, but a dribble of liquid noticeably trailed down her inner thigh.
Pinkie closed her eyes in wait for Spike to pierce her but yelped when she was flipped over onto her back and Spike jumped to the floor from the bed and moved quickly to get between her legs that still fluttered about in surprise.
“W-what are you doing?” Pinkie stammered with the slightest hint of embarrassment, ignoring the cold stiffness of the floor against her back. She felt him set his scaly waist against hers and impatience unexpectedly began to grow within her. “Get off of me. It'd be quicker the other way!”

Silently, Rarity walked closer to them, but stopped short of going around the bed. Around her neck she wore a gold necklace with a large heart-shaped ruby, which glistened in the last moments of the sun's light as darkness now settled on all three of them.
“Care to explain yourself, Pinkie Pie?” Rarity spoke first, asking simply in an even tone. But even then, Pinkie could tell that Rarity was enraged. Her expression was stone-cold but her eyes stared intensely and furiously toward the earth pony.
Pinkie gulped and stepped away from the bed to draw Rarity's attention away from Spike. “It...it isn't what it looks like, Rarity!” She claimed, knowing how pathetically that sounded.
“Right...” Rarity replied. “....so I didn't just see you having your way with Spike—a baby dragon, mind you—just two seconds ago?”
“W-why would I do something like that?” Pinkie blurted out. She stopped walking until Rarity had to direct her attention completely opposite of where Spike was still half-hiding behind the bed. “Like you said, he's a baby dragon! There's nothing going on between us! I was just having one of those silly Pinkie moments!”
“Hmph. I believe I should let Twilight know of this awful, despicable act of yours.” Rarity brushed off the other pony's excuse. “You really shouldn't lie when you're caught dripping all over the floor, Pinkie Pie.”
Pinkie clenched her jaw, and gulped. Her tail had gone between her legs in a desperate attempt to stop any more damning evidence to trickle from her still exposed sex, and her eyes grew wide as she continued to be bombarded by Rarity's stare. “I know it doesn't make sense, but...terrible, horrible things will happen to Spike and all of us if I didn't do this!”
“Oh? A likely story, Pinkie Pie!” Rarity scoffed. “Please, do help me understand your plight and tell me what these terrible, horrible things that you're protecting us from, are.”
“I...” Pinkie balked at her unicorn friend's skepticism but stood her ground. Knowing how strange or even crazy her reasons would sound, the earth pony's ears lowered. “I...can't...I made a Pinkie Promise not to say...please, I really hope that you can just believe me, Rarity...”
Rarity raised an eyebrow and cocked her head to the side. “To think you would go so far with this farce just to keep Spike away from me.” She tut-tutted. With slow steps, Rarity made her way closer to Spike, walking around the bed to find him just barely after managing to tuck his member into his pouch.
“What are you-?” Pinkie furrowed her brows and stared at Rarity in confusion. It began to dawn on her how strange Rarity's cool reaction was in light of the situation.
“How absurd! Are you actually trying to feign ignorance? Or is it that you really do need me to spell it out for you?” Rarity turned toward Spike and before either of them could react, Rarity smashed her lips against his, relishing with a guttural moan the feeling of his lips and the taste of his saliva as she just barely managed to slip her tongue into his mouth.
In a panic, Spike raised his claws to push Rarity's face from him, managing to break away from her and stumbled along the floor in his escape.
“W-what!?” Spike gasped out, panting in sheer confusion. He tentatively touched a claw against his lips, still feeling the lingering of the kiss.
Rarity ran her tongue against her lips, savoring the taste. “It's you who doesn't understand, Pinkie...Spike and I are destined to be together!”
“No, no, no, you're not!” Pinkie closed her eyes tight and quickly slowly shook her head. The sight and Rarity's actions incited a flurry of images in her mind. Even after all this time they were still confusing and difficult to understand. “Ohhh...no promise is worth keeping if it ends up harming everyone...especially my friends...” Opening her eyes, she looked back toward the unicorn with the utmost seriousness on her face. “Rarity, listen! Twi-” Pinkie Pie began to say but without warning, Rarity's horn glowed and she flung the earth pony against the far wall, knocking her out before she and several books clattering from the shelves hit the floor.
“Pinkie!?”
“Don't even bother.” Rarity huffed, narrowing her eyes while looking over her shoulder at the earth pony with contempt. “I've had enough of your secrets and lies...” Then she turned toward Spike. “As for you...” She let out a feral growl as her horn glowed once more.
He reflexively flinched and shut his eyes but instead of being thrown as well, he heard a soft sob. While his eyes were closed, he heard a shatter and upon opening them, he saw broken pieces of the Fire Ruby were scattered all over the floor. “Wasn't I good enough for you, Spike?”
“Rarity?” Was all he could timidly say as the unicorn pressed a hoof against a gem fragment and crushed it as she stepped toward him. Shaking his head, Spike earnestly scrambled back until he was pinned up against a wall.
Her voice was low and barely audible, but grew increasingly louder as she continued to speak. “I know you've been having them...the dreams...I have too. At first I was scared. Terrified. I was shocked, really, but soon grew excited. Unnerved from what I saw, but I slowly began starving for more. Every night since they began I've been staring at my bedroom door, wondering when you'd finally stop pretending and come take me.”
Rarity brought her face closer to Spike and once more spoke in a whisper. “But instead of taking me, pinning me against the bed, grabbing a clawful of my mane, making me feel like a mare...you've been running off together with her , thinking you were alone and then you'd ravish her over and over and over throughout the night.”
She paused to inhale the musk that his sweaty body, just recently engaged in intercourse, gave off. Taking a step back Rarity now spoke at a normal volume, but her voice was laced with contempt and loathing. “She thought she was so smart making her excuses and sneaking off to find you...little did she know that I've been following her this whole time...every time...and I watched...watched as you carelessly wasted your precious seed and desires and love on her time and again.”
“No...” Spike trembled. He moved to the side, circling around Rarity to create some distance and hopefully make his way to where Pinkie lay unconscious. “Those were nightmares, Rarity...they didn't happen...couldn't have...aren't supposed to happen! P-Pinkie Pie was taking care of my urges...so that I didn't hurt you, or anypony else!” But the unicorn had circled the other way and blocked his path, and began herding him back against the wall once more until they were face to face again.
“Is that what Pinkie Pie's been telling you? Oh my poor widdle Spikey-wikey...” Rarity sighed. She brushed her hoof gingerly against his chin. He drew a sharp, terrified breath from the sensation. “Of course she'd say that...why wouldn't Pinkie Pie say that since she wanted you all to herself?” She slowly shook her head.
Rarity began walking away from him, pacing about the room and brought her front leg up to her face with a dramatic flourish over her eyes. “Oh, Spike...why didn't you make me yours that night? Just like in the dreams? Why didn't you break into my room and take me by sheer force with violent, barbaric passion? But no! Instead of giving me heaven, you've cast me into Tartarus...forced me to watch in torment as you fucked that slut night after night after night! Pounding her until she moaned and wailed so wretchedly!” she spat at the thought and found the image revolting, cringing and scrunching up her face as though a putrid, rotten smell filled the air just then.
“She doesn't even love you like I do! She won't accept your wonderful heart yet doesn't spare a second to get a hold of your cock ! Oh, how could you forget the things you did to me? Twilight strained against the clawed hand grasping tightly around her neck. “Let...go of...me!” She struggled to breathe, barely managing to speak between choked breaths. “...what...did you...do...with...S-pike!?” Whatever this creature was it had somehow taken the form of her assistant. There was no way Spike would ever act this way. No way he even had this much strength to hold Twilight despite being smaller than her.
“Spike isn't home right now,” the dragon said with a smirk while shrugging his shoulders. “But if you have a message I can pass it along and he'll get back to you as soon as he can.” He noticed her horn glow and he flashed a toothy smile. “Oh my...” Still holding her by the neck in one clawed hand, he grasped her horn in the other and pulled her closer to him with ease. Twilight cringed as he brought his face ever closer to hers and dragged his long, forked tongue across her muzzle. She panted, suddenly lightheaded, and watched as the glow of her horn dimmed. Her spell was somehow interrupted.
Twilight was frozen in place and her whole body had stiffened, as though paralyzed. She grunted and growled in protest, and tried to pull away but her efforts were in vain. Slowly, his tongue continued up, up, upwards toward her forehead and then brushed against her horn.
She shuddered out a gasp. Her lower body quivered from a sudden explosion of heat. His long tongue coiled and slithered around the base of Twilight's horn, then uncurled itself and was dragged up to the very tip, before moving downwards once more toward her head. Twilight grunted and struggled to breathe for a moment as she almost literally drowned in the feelings of pleasure, which submerged her mind and left her muscles feeling listless and spent of energy. “What...are you...?” She began to ask with panting breaths.
Her body felt heavy. She began sinking to the floor, unable to withstand the invisible weight pressing down on her. The creature that had taken Spike's form was practically carrying her by gripping her throat and horn. Twilight moaned as another flash of fiery heat rushed through her. She had barely managed to recall bits and pieces from her books of only one scenario that would explain why she was feeling this way.
'He...' she groaned within her dulling thoughts, '...he's draining...my magic!' Twilight gasped and shuddered from a sudden peak. She clenched her jaw tightly as her body convulsed against her will.
Her defenses were crumbling. Rationality evaporating. The longer this predator had her in its grasp the sooner it'd be before he sucked her dry. Or worse. There were some creatures written about but never observed or even proven to exist that were said to prolong their victim's torture in order to continue feeding on them.
By instinct Twilight tightened her leg muscles to delay another orgasm peak as much as she could. “P-please...some...pony...” Twilight let out a whisper.
Blackness soon began to encroach on her vision, turning everything into a blur. A blast of sound. The roar of thunder following the shriek of fireworks.

A sharp ringing grew louder and louder as a voice made her stir.

“...igh...”
“TWILIGHT!”
The ringing abruptly stopped. Twilight gasped loudly and opened her eyes. Her view came into focus and she saw Rarity looking back at her. The fellow unicorn sniffled and her nose was scrunched and eyebrows arched high; her mascara ran dark lines down her cheeks. Dark tears were dropping from her puffy eyes and onto Twilight's face.
“Ra...rity?” Twilight groaned in confusion at the strange sight before her. “What...?”
“You...stupid...bitch...” a deep snarl sounded out of Twilight's view.
Rarity gasped, looked toward the direction of the voice then looked back down toward Twilight. She gulped. “I'm so sorry, Twilight...” Her whispered words were garbled by her sobs. “...so, so, sorry. Spike...Spike is...” Her voice trembled as she shook her head from side to side. Twilight felt her head set down onto the floor.
“...what...? Spike...? What about...?”
She turned her head to the side and saw the dragon returning to his feet. He was much taller and leaner than Twilight remembered. The floor and wall behind him were charred black and still smoldering, but the purple scales of his body and light-green underbelly were not even tarnished, much less dirtied.
His longer spiked tail swung to the side and ripped through a large wooden armoire on his right like it was wet tissue paper. Pieces of expensive wood crumbled down, making cracks and scratches on the floor.
“Rarity, today's your day off...” The slim dragon quipped in a calm voice. But his angry tone did not go unnoticed, as the white unicorn standing defensively over Twilight whimpered at the sight of him standing up. “What are you doing back home so early? Were you that impatient to come back to me?”
“You promised not to go after my friends!” Rarity screamed. Her eyes glanced toward the direction of the bed, where the young filly remained unstirred by the commotion. Her look turned angry as she turned again toward the dragon at the opposite side of the room. “You promised not to touch my sis-”
“You're mine.” His voice turned stern, cutting her off and causing Rarity to squeak in fear. “What's yours is mine.” With slow, confident steps, the dragon drew closer, but even as she trembled Rarity stood her ground. “Wasn't it kind of me to give you a break? So doesn't it make sense that since I gave you a day off, somepony has to take your place.”
“No, Spike! I'm the only one that has to suffer! Leave my friends and my sister alone!”
“Heh. Well aren't you generous ?” The dragon gave a menacing smile and made his choice of words painfully obvious. “...Or could that be greedy, since you want me all to yourself? You should really ask your friend Twilight if she wants to-”
“BACK OFF!” The white unicorn bellowed and focused a dense amount of magic into her horn, and the illumination it caused lit up the entire room.
“Ohoho, Rarity, baby...” He raised his clawed hands up in a gesture of surrender, with his palms facing out. “You're just making me hungry over here!” The dragon chuckled. To Rarity's irritation he further taunted her by licking his lips and winking.
Meanwhile, Twilight's mouth went agape and her eyes widened as she watched helplessly during the entire exchange. “Spike? No...” She shook her head and tried denying what she had just heard. “...no, no, Rarity....you can't be serious...”
It had to be an imposter. It had to be some unknown creature that took his form, or possessed his body. This was no longer the Spike she knew. No longer was his head roundish or his eyes wide and innocent. No longer was he the baby dragon who laughed and got along with everypony he met, who was kind and dropped dead asleep as soon as night fell.
Her little assistant.
Her research partner.
Her only friend in magic school.
But despite her rationalizations, several questions remained. How could another creature have appeared? At what point could he have been replaced without her noticing? They had been together for practically the last few days, never out of each others' sights.
In fact barely a moment had passed when Twilight had gone downstairs to fetch an extra blanket for Spike, expecting him to be asleep next to Sweetie Belle. But when she had returned to the bedroom where he was reading a bedtime story for the little filly, he grabbed her when she got close. No matter how much she tried, there was a deep part of her that could sense that it was in some way, despite all her hopes, Spike.
The distinct blue glow of the seamstress' horn suddenly sparked and a heavy desk flew through the air and struck its intended target, shattering with a loud crash into broken pieces of wood and splinters showered the area. “TWILIGHT, RUN!” Rarity suddenly yelled out and tackled the dragon to the ground as he tried to stand up.
“Rarity? RARITY!” Twilight rolled onto her side and managed to her hooves, albeit wobbly so. Pain wracked her head. Dizziness sapped her ability to focus. Twilight could only watch, frozen in terror as her friend was easily overpowered by the dragon. Rarity screamed out as she was slammed against the back wall after he grabbed her mane with his clawed hand and she crumpled to the ground.
Showing no signs of harm from the attack, the dragon looked disdainfully at Rarity's still form atop the wreckage of furniture and ripped cloth. Then he turned his attention toward Twilight, sending a chill up her spine and causing her to jump back from the intensity of his glare. She was too terrified to even scream.
He took a step forward only for Rarity to desperately latch onto his legs from behind.
He blinked and looked down at the pony wrapping her forelegs around his right leg. “What do you think you're doing, Rarity? You're only embarrassing yourself at this point.” He laughed at her efforts.
“There's no way...there's no way at all that I can hold myself back any longer if you threaten my friends or my sister!”
His laughter grew louder after hearing the white pony's declaration. “Ever the greedy one, huh? Are you really that obsessed with having me all for yourself?”
“YOU'RE NOT HURTING ANYONE ELSE!” Her horn glowed brighter than before. Broken pieces of furniture strewn all around the room took on the same blue glow and were raised into the air. Their jagged points and sharp edges all pointed toward the dragon. Rarity looked toward Twilight, fresh tears running down her cheek. “Please...run...”
Twilight's sense of sound seemed to have disappeared. She watched Rarity's mouth move, saw the look of desperation in her friend's eyes but did not register her voice. But she felt the despair. Even as the weaponized furniture flew into a single center Twilight realized she had no chance against him. His roar made her bones shake and muscles quiver. In a panic, Twilight turned and ran out of the room, down the stairs and out of the boutique into the cool dark night.
Her mind was blank. Her only plan was to run.
As she ran, the seconds felt like minutes and the minutes felt like hours. She blindly ran. She could no longer hear the terrifying roars so she felt more assured that she could-“What?” She blinked at nothing happening. She tried to focus while running, instinctively knowing that she couldn't stop.
Her magic failed to even glow. “N-no way! He couldn't have-”
“What are you trying to do, Twilight?” His deep sinister voice seemed to echo from everywhere. She stumbled and nearly fell from tripping over her legs, causing her to stop in the middle of the road.“Did you forget already?”
“Get away!” She screamed out and began to run down the road to Fluttershy's cottage.
“I think not, Twilight...” His voice echoed ahead of her and began to laugh.
“N-no!” Shaking her head, Twilight dug into the dirt road and desperately began her sprint in the other direction, away from the chilling laugh.
Twilight gulped as she pushed her burning muscles to run. She looked about in the sky, hoping to find Rainbow Dash's-
“Wrong again...” She felt his breath right next to her, causing her to jump and thrash about in panic.
She panted and looked around. Realizing no one was there, his laugh echoed once again from all directions.
“What's got you so freaked out, Twilight?”
She swallowed her excess saliva and took a deep breath. The purple unicorn nickered and clenched her jaw tight, feeling her awareness slowly returning to her. With another deep breath, she stayed away from the road heading back to Ponyville and ran headlong toward the Apple Family's orchard.
She stopped at the sound of his voice yet again. “Apples do sound delicious right about now...what do you say?” In the darkness she felt a heavy breath against her face and the sick coil of a tongue around her horn.
“NO!!! GET AWAY!” Twilight screamed and tried to shake off the disgusting feeling against her horn. She swung her hooves and bucked her rear legs in anger now, growing increasingly frustrated and tired.
“This way!” A voice called out behind her. Twilight blinked and spun around only to be greeted by empty darkness.
“Who's there!?” Twilight screamed out. Her breathing was more composed and her heartbeat was no longer racing. She waited but the voice did not repeat itself. If anything she could be sure that it wasn't him.
Although uncertain, Twilight felt that she could place a cautious trust into the voice and took off down the road once again, away from Sweet Apple Acres. Only instinct drove her forward, fueling her past her fatigue and directed her to arbitrarily make turns at each fork and crossing she came to until she finally made it to the Ponyville train station.
Against all reason the train was there and not only that, Twilight saw smoke rising out of the stack. Unattached to any passenger cars, the steam locomotive rumbled quietly on the rails and hissed as its boilers were already running hot. She looked back over her shoulder and her ears directed themselves in an effort to detect any kind of sound around her.
The train hissed again as not even a soft breeze came by to relieve Twilight's exhaustion. Defying the part of her brain screaming for a rational explanation, Twilight chose to rely instead on instinct, and boarded the locomotive.
Twilight awoke in the roughly shaking cab to the sound of the steam engine chugging along, feeling no more refreshed than before she decided to take a nap. Her anxiety was simply too high, and the intense heat of the coal stove just feet from where she slept negated the high speed winds whipping about and howling loudly as the train rushed down the tracks. The substantially lighter load allowed the train to run much faster than it normally would, but it still felt too long.
Glancing up at the starlit night sky, Twilight calculated from her position and the current speed of the train that it would only be a few more minutes before she arrived at Canterlot.
Alerted by his lieutenant about an unscheduled train arrival, the Captain of the Royal Guard trotted down the palace steps, grumbling that he had to be awakened in the middle of the night out of his shift. However when he looked ahead, he was disturbed by the sight of a familiar purple unicorn mare being escorted by several armored stallions. He had forgone putting on his armor and chose instead to wear his favorite uncle's sash that depicted the family crest, which was similar to his cutie mark as well as “Twiley?” Shining Armor called out. “What are you doing here?”
“Shining Armor!” Twilight called out to her brother. The guards, four in all, halted and stood at attention as their Captain quickly rushed to the fatigued mare's side, catching her before she fell to the ground.
“You're hurt!” He regarded the smaller pony's bruises and faint signs of magic. He shuddered to think what it was that caused this to his sister of all ponies. No, at this point he simply wanted to thrash whatever did it for doing such a thing. He brushed back the messy and sweat-soaked bangs of her mane and furrowed his eyes in response to her weak smile. “Tell me what happened, Twiley!” He asked, barely restraining a growl.
“I...I need to speak with the princess...” She desperately wanted to tell him, but her mind was at a loss as to what it was that had even happened.
“The princess? Uh...Princess Luna hasn't arrived yet, but I'll make sure to tell her when she does. You need to rest, Twiley. You're almost totally spent!”
“Not...not Princess Luna...” Twilight shook her head and mumbled her protests to his suggestion. Very weakly, she placed her weight back onto her own hooves and to the white stallion's surprise she began to slowly forward. “...need to...Celes...”
“Twiley, hold on. You're not making any sense.” Shining Armor placed a hoof on his sister's shoulder, causing her to pause. Next he pressed his horn against hers, lending her a bit of his magic to help her realize she was too exhausted to keep going.
Twilight took a deep breath and felt the soothing warmth of magic once more flowing into her body. “Th-thanks...” She sighed and feeling strength in her hooves she pressed on.
“Hey Twiley! Stop already!” Becoming firmer now, Shining Armor placed a hoof on Twilight's other shoulder and forcefully pushed her to sit down, barely managing to do so. He was surprised by the amount of effort it took him but this only raised his worries. “You need to tell me what happened right now! Did something happen to your friends?”
There was no immediate response. Instead, he felt his sister's shoulder shake and heard Twilight beginning to softly sniffle. She clenched her eyes shut and tears ran down the cheeks of her haggard face and her voice came out in a heart wrenching quivering manner. “...my friends...everypony was...” Twilight sobbed quietly.
Shining Armor was on the verge of tears himself from the sight but was afforded a distraction to wipe his eyes when a regal voice spoke out from behind him.
“Twilight Sparkle? What brings you here?”
“Princess!” Twilight perked up and Shining Armor rushed to turn himself around as Princess Celestia emerged and descended the steps toward them. “P-princess! I....I!” Twilight stuttered and babbled with bloodshot eyes and snot dripping from her nostrils as Shining Armor and the other guards followed decorum, bowing in Her Majesty's presence.
Twilight had all but ignored these rules and galloped to the alicorn's side to press her face against the princess' pristine white coat.
No other pony in Equestria would dare even think of doing such an astonishing thing, but Twilight Sparkle was of course no ordinary pony. “Please explain to me every detail, my dear student.”
“...Princess Celestia...I...”
“Heeeeeyy, girrrrrls!” All of the ponies turned their attention to the deep, cheery voice, where they saw a large wingless dragon was standing in the middle of the palace courtyard.
“How did you get in here!? Identify yourself!” One armored unicorn stallion demanded in a gruff voice. The three other guards, all unicorns as well, surrounded the intruder and aimed their horns with their magic at the ready.
“Sorry it took so long to get here, Twilight.” The dragon ignored the guards around him. “You could say I was a bit...held up...So! You wanna continue where we left off, or start a new game?”
“Neither!” Twilight shouted out defiantly and without hesitation jumped in front of Princess Celestia but then Shining Armor jumped in front of her.
“Twilight! Go!” His horn glowed and a single beam of light shot up into the air, then flashed and expanded into a large ball that dissipated a mile up in the sky.
“No, Shining Armor, wait!” Twilight tried to say, but was cut off by the concussive roar of the spell's explosion now reaching them.
Not a second passed by before the clanging of metal, the thunder of hooves and rustling of feathers grew louder until dozens, if not a hundred or so armored stallions had appeared. Both unicorns and pegasi had now completely surrounded the scaly intruder both on the ground and in the air above.
The dragon simply gave a low whistle and smirked. “All this for lil' ol' me? You sure know how to treat a guy, Shining Armor!”
“How do you know my...? Wait...Spike...?” Only now did Shining armor recognize the familiar features of the large purple dragon standing in the courtyard. The light of the Flare spell had illuminated the whole courtyard including the dragon's features, before it waned and the dimness of the night returned once more. “...what in the world happened to you? ” He said this no louder than a whisper, remarking more to himself than actually wanting an answer.
In the end it didn't matter. His sister was hurt and the offender was standing right in front of him. The blue maned unicorn could only shake his head at the monstrous sight.
“Twilight...protect Princess Celestia...”
Twilight shook her head in dismay, at the sight of her big brother's back. “Please...Shining Armor, no!”
After taking a soft breath, Shining Armor steeled his nerves. “ROYAL GUARD...” he shouted into the night. Shining Armor's horn glowed and a purple wall materialized between the stallions and the two mares. The wall surrounded the stallions and enclosed even the pegasi within a half sphere of dense magic. “CHARGE!”
At his command, the armored pegasi and unicorn stallions of the Royal Guard rushed headlong without hesitation, yelling out “Protect the Princess!” and “Defend Princess Celestia!” and “For Equestria!”
Twilight could only helplessly watch, banging her hooves against the barrier her brother had formed as Shining Armor refused to look back as she pleaded and screamed for him not to go. “I love you, Twiley...” Was all she heard before he rushed forward into the brawl as the dead bodies of ponies already lay.
“NO!” Twilight hit her head against the magic barrier and let out a sob. “No, Shining Armor, please! Please, no!” With all the force she could muster she banged her hoof against the barrier, impervious to her strikes. In the distance, she spotted her brother's blue mane and realized he was just feet in front of the dragon but before they collided a large white wing had blocked Twilight's view. The pony balked and turned toward her mentor, who's somber eyes was all Twilight needed to feel understood.
“Come, Twilight...” Celestia said as she quickly walked down the corridor. They passed many sets of wide glass windows as they walked. As the faint sounds of clashing armor and screams and yells echoed against the walls, Twilight struggled to keep up with Celestia's long strides who stayed ahead of her, leading the way.
“Princess?” Twilight followed the alicorn in confusion, unsure of where her mentor was taking her. As they continued down the corridor soon the sounds of the fighting grew inaudible. Only their hoof steps pressing against the carpet could be heard. Twilight pushed her tired, burning legs to move faster and barely managed to stay on pace.
After several turns they had stopped. “This way.” Celestia then said with urgency in her voice as her long horn glowed and she used her magic to unlock an iron gate.
Looking over her shoulder one last time, no longer able to hear anything from outside, Twilight turned and followed after the princess.
“Starswirl the Bearded Wing?” Twilight looked in amazement around her at the shelves of books that remained unrecognizable despite living in the palace for several years. “I never knew there was a Starswirl the Bearded Wing here in the archives!” She cantered up to one shelf labeled “Biology” and remarked at the several encyclopedias dedicated to the different forms of wildlife, plants and fauna sorted by environment. There was even a series of volumes for the Everfree Forest that couldn't be any less than hundreds of years old.
Celestia approached the smaller pony, catching her attention and bringing her senses back to reality, which her mind had all but tried to escape from not a moment ago. “Twilight, if there is anything that can help us it will be in this wing. Somewhere in one of these books lies the only chance we have of stopping what's become of Spike.”
“What? Princess, what are you talking about? Why can't you stop...him ?”
The white alicorn's features softened and she lowered her head. “I cannot. The way he is now, I can only hold him back. And I fear I cannot even do that for very long if I'm alone. Hopefully Luna will arrive in time to help me, but Twilight, none of that will matter if you cannot find that book in time!”
“No, Princess, please...you need to explain this to me. I don't understand at all! Why can't...?” Twilight stuttered her words and felt her hopes sinking. If her mentor said she couldn't then there was a reason why she couldn't. “...I think that...with all due respect, Princess, I think that I would be much more useful if you let me help you fi-”
“TWILIGHT SPARKLE!” Celestia's voice suddenly boomed. The dim illumination paled to the sudden brilliance that filled the room for a moment, as though daylight had just emerged. “You may be my favorite student, but you are still a subject of Equestria. So you will listen to your Princess' orders.”
Twilight bowed her head with eyes shut as she was blinded by the light. “I'm sorry...princess...”
Celestia could only smile sadly and sigh. The light reverted to that of a moonlit night and the princess leaned down toward the smaller pony to press her cheek against Twilight's. “...I understand, Twilight. You've been through so much recently.” Celestia said softly as she nuzzled her cherished student. “But this is only the beginning if we are to overcome this difficulty. And I need you to stay strong and trust in me. Just as I trust in you.”
Twilight smiled from the comforting gesture, returning the affection in an effort to regain some normalcy. The warmth of the other pony was reinvigorating and soothing. Taking a breath to calm herself, Twilight felt assured that she could trust in whatever her teacher had planned. “Princess, what is it that I need to look for?”
“It's-”
“Ohhhhhh, Twiiiiiiliiiiiight! Celessssstiaaaaaa! Come out, come out and plaaaaaaaaay!” Twilight trembled at the sound of the voice echoing against the stone palace walls.
“It can't be...Shining Armor!” Twilight called out. Her breathing became quick and shallow, and soon Twilight felt her body begin to shake once more. “...Is he?”
A pure white wing touched her shoulder, then wrapped gently around the unicorn's body. Twilight looked upward once more toward Celestia. “Twilight...” she began to say. The flow of the alicorn's mane was dazzling even in the pale moonlight that managed to seep into the room through the large windows of the archives. And yet somehow, Celestia seemed as though was not at all affected by the shadows or darkness. Twilight could see her princess effortlessly. “I have faith you will succeed.”
The confidence in those words was contagious and immediately Twilight no longer felt fearful, even as the sounds of wicked laughter filled the air. Twilight couldn't be afraid. Not after looking right into her princess' steady gaze.
Princess Celestia brought her head low to nuzzle her student once more and then with her head held high, walked toward the archive entrance. She walked into the corridor with proud steps. The gate was shut and locked and then a barrier was raised over it. Twilight could feel an amazing amount of magic on the other side of the gate. A high level spell of some kind. Something not even she knew or thought could ever exist. It obscured what was happening in the hallway, even sound, and most likely the shimmering wall was seen from both sides.
Twilight let out a sigh and started wandering about in the wing. Looking out the sole window in the room, which nearly reached from floor to ceiling, it seemed that the Princess' spell extended all around the area, given the same shimmering light that covered the iron gate.
Somewhere in this archive had to be an explanation for what was wrong with Spike. What made it possible for him to absorb her magic. What changed him into a monster.
There was nothing written about the things Spike was capable of in the dragon section. In fact, all of books were about winged dragons and their hoards relating to their nasty character. And the entries written about magic-draining creatures were too spread out throughout the archive, and were either too obscure or written in another language or were actually spells invented by unicorns.
In frustration Twilight knocked an arbitrary book off of a shelf and a single scroll fluttered onto the floor at her feet. When she looked at the page she noticed something remarkable. She blinked several times, then rubbed her eyes with her foreleg. Twilight even touched her hoof against the page so that she did not mistakenly read words from different parts of the page. But even after a third read through, there was no denying what she saw. “Is this...? A time travel spell! Can this be what Princess Celestia wanted me to find?”
Twilight read and re-read the scroll from top to bottom, amazed by the elegant theorized mechanics and proposed incantation of the spell. The unicorn frowned as her eyes strained to read the small size of the words and formulas written onto the paper as a million thoughts began to crowd in her mind. “For so many terrible things to have happened...if something like time travel was really possible, why didn't I warn myself...?”
She shook her head and remembered how drained of magic she was. But on the other hoof she was currently feeling better and the spell did not seem all that difficult to perform. There were however a number of important questions that popped up.
Why didn't she appear before she was attacked? Or even during or after?
So many doubts began to appear. “...no...it's not that I didn't, but I couldn't...or if I already tried to but failed...Which idea of the universe should I apply? Is all this the result of my time traveling in the first place?” All of the possibilities rushing through her head gave Twilight a migraine, as though her skull was about to split apart from the anxiety bubbling up on top of her stress. Her newly found confidence was quickly beginning to wash away. “...ugh, there are just too many variables...so many uncertainties about all this...
“Where do I even begin...?”
The time travel spell was an astounding piece of work. Nothing less could be expected from something considered worthy enough to be placed into Starswirl the Bearded's section of the Canterlot archives.
Years ago when she was a filly, Twilight learned while enrolled in Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns that the more complex a spell was, the more it required a medium to handle the magic as intended. The algorithms and formulae written into the scroll were simply strokes of genius to handle the variables that Twilight feared. Not only did it take into account the laws that would be involved in temporal movement against the forward flow of time, but it also allowed for full interaction and even spatial controls used in teleportation so the user could choose to appear wherever she pleased within the point in time she desired. If there were a unicorn talented enough that he or she could even handle keeping all of those aspects in mind, he or she probably wouldn't survive the substantial load of pressure on their brain when it came to actually activating the spell. And her theory proved to be correct, as after using the scroll more than an hour ago Twilight watched as it burned away before her eyes from the amount of magic that coursed through it.
Because of these requirements it made sense then that the scroll would say that the time travel spell would allow her to only “go back once.” Of course even though the scroll burned away that did not mean the the spell couldn't be performed again. That is, if one simply used a fresh medium, the spell could be used once more. Thus Twilight had no choice but to waste the last hour and a half copying the time travel spell from memory onto two new scrolls. Not only was it important to get all the wording as precisely as possible, but one off stroke for the magical drawings used to receive and direct the flow of magical input would render the spell useless at best and killing her at worst. Not to mention that Twilight's head ached and throbbed all the while, delaying the process.
She was nearly spent, as the time travel spell consumed a lot of magic, so despite using only enough magic to go back by a few hours, Twilight could not risk wasting any more of her energy. Especially if she had to make more than one more trip. And from her first try, it was obvious that that would be the case.
Her first scroll—that is, the original scroll—was used up trying to stop Spike before he arrived in Canterlot. But it had been futile. Her focus was on conserving as much energy as possible, so Twilight had arrived too late; right after Spike had had his way with Rarity when she escaped from the boutique. The sight of her friend and the state she was in was too much for Twilight to bear. It was a boon to learn that she was capable of using her magic in the past, as she teleported outside of the boutique to confront the dragon as he chased her other self. However, none of her spells seemed to work, and she was unable to achieve anything beyond knocking an unsuspecting Spike to the ground before the time travel spell's effects wore off and she returned to the present.
And so because of the additional expense of her magic, Twilight felt her body tremble against her will, as though she had just gone running close to her limit. Despite taking several short breaks, she still felt lightheaded. She groaned at feeling like her head would crack open at any minute. She realized she had used much more magic than she had intended. And worse still, she did not have the luxury of being able to test out all of the limits of the time-travel spell.
On the one hoof, she had Princess Celestia and possibly even Princess Luna fighting to protect her from Spike, but her teacher's words presented a terrifying truth: not even the power of both princesses was enough to stop him. The irony that time was not on her side did not escape her notice.
Placing the feathered quill back into its inkwell, Twilight looked over her facsimiles, noting whether the diagrams and wording were all properly copied to the exact distance and spacing as that of the original. She nodded and was confident enough that her memory was not at all wrong. “Alright...first I think I'll-” she froze mid sentence at the sound of cracking glass.
She looked up as groans of stress rang out all around her. Taking a glance toward the window, Twilight stopped breathing when she was faintly able to make out the courtyard when before the barrier had all but obscured anything outside of it.
With a loud gasp Twilight then turned her attention to the archive's gate as smoke and light exploded inwards, throwing the pony to the ground and scattering books and papers all over the room. She coughed and flinched as hot debris rained down and pelted against her sides.
The loud ringing in her ears from the sudden explosion soon dissipated as the sound of the crumbling walls and wooden supports and bookshelves closest to the explosion cracking called to her attention.
As the smoke cleared Twilight gasped in dismay to see Princess Celestia and Luna sprawled on the ground, surrounded by huge chunks of marble and pieces of broken bookshelves and torn shreds of paper but before she could rush to their sides, the sounds of slow, heavy steps approached as a mist and clouds of dust filtered into the room. She instinctively galloped farther into the archive and ducked behind an aisle that blocked the light of the moon that filtered in from the large windows.
“Twilight Sparkle~!” She heard his deep voice echo against the high ceilings and marble walls. “It's your ol' buddy, Spike! Remember how close we were? We'd take baths together, have sleepovers, do each others' hair...good times, good times.”
Twilight hid as close to the ground as she could, amidst the stacks of books and scrolls. As the deep sinister laughter of her pursuer filled the air, she dared to peek out of the aisle, using a tall mirror nearby to see while being hidden. One of her copied time-travel scrolls was lying on the floor next to the mirror in the ailse across from hers. From the angled reflection, Twilight could see the dragon come closer, looming at a larger size than she last remembered. Its tail swaying back and forth as he looked at each aisle with a smile revealing his sharp teeth on his face.
“Just to let you know, your magic is just leaking out everywhere! Mmmm, and it just smells soooo good!”
This made her let out a gasp to which she pressed her trembling hooves against her mouth to quiet herself. Looking at the mirror, the dragon had paused as though he had heard something. She curled up to be as small as possible as she heard him sniff out loud and continue his taunts. “Was that you, Twilight? Your smell is just everywhere!” He laughed once more while Twilight remained tucked against the bookshelf as much as possible.
“Maybe you're towards the back?” He asked in a playful manner and walked by her aisle with footsteps that caused the floor to shake. When she was sure he had passed, Twilight rushed to the other aisle and immediately focused her magic into the scroll.
Clenching her eyes tight, she poured more magic than she had the first time, hoping to go back as far as she could to a point before Spike had ever become what he was.
And as it had happened before, the energies that she poured into the parchment were redirected back to her, changed by the spell and enveloped the unicorn in a blinding white light. Immediately Twilight felt as though gravity itself had doubled, and then doubled again. She tensed her muscles to hold strong against the forces and then gasped as she felt pulled up as though the floor had disappeared and then the rush of adrenaline as though she was falling.

In the next moment, Twilight stumbled to the ground, feeling her head throb as fatigue threatened to overtake her. The waning winds stirred the leaves off of nearby trees and blades of grass. Looking around, it was night time and she was outside of Rarity's boutique once more.
Besides the waning moon sitting high up in the sky, only the Ponyville streetlamps positioned along the dirt and cobblestone roads provided any sort of illumination. Twilight gulped as she felt somepony was behind her, but couldn't tell what. Turning slowly around, she first noticed the light of a streetlamp casting down at her hooves and then realized that behind her was actually-
“Oh, hey there, Twilight! What'cha doing up so late? Did Spike get all tuckered out after having a great birthday today? ”
“Pinkie Pie?” Twilight blinked at the sight of the fluffy-maned earth pony smiling and waiting for an answer to her question. “I...uh...what are you...?”
“Well, I was walking around checking on my stashes of whoopy cushions—in case of whoopy cushion emergency—when all of a sudden, I started getting this major mondo twitchy twitch of a doozy! So I followed it and it led me here where these lights and a whoosh happened, then you showed up! How'd you do that? Is it a super cool new spell? Or how about a super secret spell you've been practicing? Or maybe-”
“I-” Twilight began to explain, then noticed a spark of magic from her hoof. As Pinkie began making guesses about the light and burst of energy, Twilight was more focused on her mission. 'Oh no...already?! I won't have enough time to tell her anything before the spell returns me! There has to be some way...some spell that will...'
The images of her friends and the princesses shook Twilight's reslove. 'Images...my memories!' Twilight looked toward Pinkie as she continued to guess. Stepping forward without warning her friend beforehand, Twilight touched the tip of her horn against Pinkie's forehead and-
“Hi Rarity, cute dress!”
“Spike that's very thoughtful of you.”
“Spike, are you okay?”
"Say, Rarity, I hope this doesn't sound strange to ask but, have you noticed if Spike has been acting a bit...weird?”
“Recently he's just seemed more...tired, I guess.”
“...what...did you...do...with...S-pike!?”
“P-please...some...pony...”
“Ra...rity?”
“...what...? Spike...? What about...?”
“N-no way! He couldn't have-”
“Get away!”
“NO!!! GET AWAY!”
“I...I need to speak with the princess...”
“No, Shining Armor, wait!”
“Please...Shining Armor, no!”
“ NO!”
“No, Shining Armor, please! Please, no!”
“Just close your eyes, Spike. I'm here for you. Don't worry.”
“...I've got no idea if you don't, Spike!”
“That's because I lied.”
“...I can't joke when my friends' safety is in danger.”
“Ah! AH!”
“S-slower...deeper!”
“Is that supposed to be a joke? Well if it is, it's not funny. You don't know what you're talking about.”
“What are you-?”
“No, no, no, you're not!”
“Please...run, Spike...she...”
“Please, p-please...d-AAGHHHHHHHH!”
Twilight fell backwards, jarred from the experience, but still conscious. A bit of vomit threatened to rush up her throat from how horrible it all felt, although the unicorn just barely managed to hold on.
Despite everything feeling like it was spinning around her, it had worked. The rush of events flashed past so quickly, but even then, Twilight couldn't keep tears from falling and feeling the terror and fear once again as a result of witnessing the horrid affair as though she had re-lived them.
What concerned her more was the fact that there were definitely memories that weren't her own. Twilight gulped. Could it have been feedback? Had she unintentionally witnessed her own Pinkie Pie's memories...the terrible things that Spike did, or rather...would do...Twilight shook her head and remembered she had no time to consider the “what ifs” anymore. She regarded the disoriented Pinkie Pie sitting on the ground before her, much like how the pink earth pony ended up the last time Twilight performed the memory spell to disperse with her discorded personality.
And then, “That's it!” Twilight felt herself smile for the first time in ages. Her heart lifted up from its doldrums when she realized there was finally hope on the horizon. As the sparks of magic continued to flicker off of her body, the unicorn glanced upward to the window above. 'I have to hurry!' Twilight exhaled and teleported into Rarity's bedroom.
She jumped forward to the large bed, ignoring the fact that in the darkness Twilight slammed her front leg into a desk. No matter, the purple unicorn moved despite the pain and once at the side of the bed Twilight touched the tip of her horn against Rarity's forehead and felt the memory spell tire her further. Vomit once again threatened to shoot up her throat, but nonetheless, the purple unicorn smiled. The crackling and sputtering of the time travel spell's magic increased in frequency. Twilight could feel the strange pulling sensation as she began to transfer back to her time.
She let out a sigh of relief and looking out the window into the street below, Twilight spotted Pinkie sitting there, dazed from the after-effects of the memory spell. But emerging out of the darkness into view, a large beastly dragon lunged at Pinkie, pinning her to the ground. Twilight felt ice cold at the sight of Spike's monstrous form and her horn glowed so she could teleport down toward Pinkie. Swirls of energy enveloped her and the massive forces of the time travel spell lifted her up before slamming her downwards once more.

As the roiling thunder and light of her emergence dissipated, Twilight found herself surrounded by pages and scrolls fluttering about in a raucous of rustling paper. “NOOOOOOO!” She blinked at the abrupt change in her surroundings and realized she had already returned. Twilight panted heavily, looking about the dark archive for any signs of the dragon. Her sore leg lifted up as she shifted her weight to her other hooves. “Did...did it work...?” She said to herself in the tiniest of whispers. She sat down and brought a hoof to her eyes to wipe the tears that had built up from the terrible sight just a moment ago.
“Probably not.” A deep voice answered her. Twilight froze. In the gap between the pages floating about the eyes of a looming monster stood. She tried to run but stumbled to the ground from the pain of putting weight onto her bruised leg. Before she could react, it thrust its arm to grab at her.
“Oh, Twilight~! Found you! Guess you have to be penalized, now!”
“NO!” Twilight cried out. He horn glowed immediately, and Twilight conjured her teleportation spell, appearing in the corridor and began looking for the time travel scroll amongst the papers flying about in desperation.
“Hey, where do ya think you're going?” She was pulled back by a hand that grabbed her horn from behind and the light at the tip of Twilight's horn dissipated.
“H-how did you!?”
Her terrified expression caused him to laugh. “Just before you teleport, this looong trail extends from where you start out and it ends where you're gonna reappear.” He smiled even more at the sight of confusion at his revelation. “What? You can't see it? Huh, guess it's just me.” Without further ado, the dragon tossed her back into the archive.
He strolled back into the room as the pony bounced against the floor and stopped rolling only when she slammed against a bookshelf, causing several books to rain down with a varying range of thuds depending on their weight and whether they fell on Twilight or not. Casually hopping over the unconscious alicorns like he were playing hopscotch, Spike let out a happy sigh when he reached Twilight.
“Nice job delaying me back in Ponyville! Really surprising stuff.” He paid no attention to the purple pony's attempts to stand up, as she found it a struggle to stay standing before dropping once more onto the floor. “I never knew you could make copies of yourself, Twilight. It's a pretty cool trick. Threw me for a loop before it disappeared.” He playfully paced about, looking around with half interest at the large volume of books in the archive. “Although, it did give us the chance to play hide and seek all over town...but wouldn't you know it, that jealous bitch Rarity had to ruin our fun!” He paused for a moment and shook his head while sighing to add to his point.
“I wasted so much time punishing her when I found her at the train station. You already left, so I had to divert my attention onto her for a while before following you." He sighed. "Had to wake her up three or four times, even...” The dragon walked closer to the pony laying by the bookshelf and pressed his foot against her heaving chest.
“Rarity was...? ” Twilight gasped in pain as he found it entertaining enough for the moment to simply hold her down.
He chuckled and sighed gleefully at the sound. Then without warning, he pressed his weight onto the pony to grab an intriguing book about “Two-legged Monsters” that was about six shelves above the floor by using Twilight as a makeshift stepladder. Several scrolls and papers fluttered to the floor while Twilight's screams were all but ignored as he hopped back to the ground and skimmed through the pages but found the contents boring. Tossing the book away, Spike sat cross legged right in front of her.
“Of course, your cool trick pales in comparison to the fight I just had a few minutes ago. You should have seen it! Would you believe that there were a few times even I thought I was a goner? Like, get this...when Celestia created a miniature sun right there in the hallway and collapsed it, right? All in order to make a black hole and it almost sucked me up! Or-or when she did a sonic rainboom and tried to impale me through the stomach with that big horn of hers.” Not noticing Twilight's pain expressions, he proceeded to move his arms wildly about and voiced sound effects as he described the fight, ending his tale with wicked laughter.
Finally noticing Twilight's lack of attention, he pouted at the pony's rudeness and sighed, going so far as to mope while remaining cross-legged. “What would have happened if she didn't put up a barrier around the archives...?” He wondered out loud. Not expecting an answer, he leaned backwards, placing his hands behind him to prop himself up. “Who knows? Maybe her attacks would have been stronger and she could have won? But then again, even when Princess Luna showed up....
“I still kicked their asses!” He guffawed and snorted at the fact, falling back onto the floor and rolled about in amusement. After about a minute, the dragon rested on his stomach with his clawed hands under his chin.
“Speaking of which...” He looked over at the two unconscious alicorns splayed out at the archive entrance and licked his lips. “I'm sure that having two alicorns for sex slaves would be awesome, but...I don't know...To be honest, right now I can't stop wondering how great it would be to leave you a crying, blubbering, mess. Covered head to hoof in my thick jizz...mane and tail all goopy and white...your holes gaping wide and twitching. Although, with how big it's gotten now, would it even fit in all the way? Oh, just thinking about it makes me feel so hot and flustered.” He sat up and looked back toward Twilight. “How about you?” He asked excitedly, his tail wagging back and forth.
She trembled at his words.
Jumping back onto his feet, Spike walked closer to Twilight and squatted right in front of her once more. His hand pinched her chin and brought his face close to her, eliciting a squeak. He looked intently into her eyes. The nonchalance of his words and giddy smile of his face failed to mitigate the cold, dark look in his eyes. The malice radiating from him that seemed to seep into her and chill her very bones. Twilight cursed quietly to herself as some tears escaped her control and ran down her cheek. “Aww, what are you doing just giving up like that? You still have a bit of fuel left in your tank...I can practically taste it.”
His long tongue dragged against her horn, and she shuddered and cringed in disgust.
“Hmmm...It's different...” He said, smacking his lips. “...a lot of Celestia...a hint of Rarity, and...is that...?” He licked again. She whimpered and sobbed. “Your brother? Oh, you naughty girl, you! Haha! Kidding, I'm kidding...”
While still laughing, he stood up and took a few steps back while facing her.
“Come on , Twilight. Why're you holding back? You've got more than enough energy left, considering you stole it from everypony that's been trying to protect you! Got something planned for me? You know as well as I do that you'll just be wasting it. Instead, I've got a much better idea! Why don't you do that spell again? Make a copy of yourself. I wanna watch a Twilight hungrily eating a second Twilight's snatch while that one licks and sucks my balls! Haha!
“And..if you put on a good enough show, I'll let you enjoy the sight of me fucking your precious princesses while you catch your breath. Or you could rub one off while we rut, who am I to judge? And when they're screaming and moaning for more, I'll break you in, and then we can all have fun together! Doesn't that sound great ?”
Twilight looked away as dark thoughts began to fill her head. Thoughts that pushed her to just give up so the pain would stop. Her eyes flickered at anything that wasn't the taunting dragon waiting for an answer to his absurd question, when she noticed the last time-travel scroll leaning against the bookshelf across from her. Taking a small breath, she coughed from the dust and as a result of most likely a bruised rib. But soon enough, her coughs quickly became a small chuckle before turning into a pained, hacking laugh.
“Heh? What's...what's so funny?”
“I...” She coughed, “...can't believe I was so afraid of you...” Twilight panted out as her smile turned into a scowl. “...to be honest...the more you keep talking...the more pathetic you sound!” She growled out.
His eyes narrowed and his voice became dark as he approached the smaller pony and brought his mouth close to her ear. “Oh, well...I guess I could do the boring thing and just fuck you right now, since you seem to be so inclined...now, do you want to do that spell?”
Twilight gulped and silently nodded.
He smiled and stood up, giving some space and watched in expectation as he sat next to the princesses, stroking his hand through Luna's mane that had been sucked of much of its shimmering nature.
Instead of saying anything further, the unicorn glanced at the last scroll nearby and gathered the last amounts of energy she had left. Twilight clenched her eyes shut and focused her mind as much as she could.
Like Princess Celestia had said, there was only one pony that could make everything right: Twilight Sparkle.

Inside.
She always wanted it inside.
"Ah... "
No matter what position, no matter how many times, no matter who could hear them in the next room, she would call out to him.
"Nnnah! Spike... "
He would silently respond to her summons, craning his neck up so he could nibble at her neck then plant a trail of kisses until he teasingly brushed his lips against her chin.
"Mmmmm." She moved her muzzle to meet his, but he deftly swerved his head to kiss the other side of her face.
"Spike... " She breathed out, growing frustrated.
His thrusts grew faster, harder. Finally they kissed.
Pinkie shut her eyes tight, feeling Spike's tight embrace as his scalding jets of hot fluids washed inside of her. It was an amazing feeling. It was addictive.
To feel him within and without at the same time. His body against hers. The short arms wrapped around her barrel could barely blanket her against the slightest breeze and yet she felt protected against all of the elements.
And yet she could never take comfort in the feeling, never safe.
Their lips met again and once more the exchange of passion resumed. His length stayed within her as he thrust slowly but deeply, grinding against her center.
She pressed forward.
His tongue swirled.
She greedily lapped up the taste of his saliva.
He desperately inhaled her smell in her moans.
Their touching lips broke contact and he resumed full thrusts.
Her back arced and she ached for release.
She gasped and whimpered. Lightly bit her bottom lip and nickered. Breathed in and whinnied. All the while her tension continued to build.
She wished this could go on forever. That they could remain like this together.
However, that was impossible.
There was no fantasy, no illusion, no dream or scenario that could shatter the reality that they found themselves in.
No matter how many times he complied with her wishes or lust-filled cues, no matter how much he poured into her, no matter how much their tongues met or how deep his warmth penetrated her...
She couldn't respond to his mid-coital pleas of
"Do you love me too...? "
She could never answer.
She could not forget her promise.
She couldn't allow it.
"Ah..." Tiny embers licked her spine. "A-ah..." Ice pressed against the base of her tail. "A-aa-ah..." Electricity surged through her entire being. "A-AA-A-A-AAH!"
Her body, front and rear legs, neck, all of her muscles tightened and spasmed, constricting against him tighter and tighter until her cup had spilled out its contents and she gushed forth in white hot ecstasy.
In loud gasps, the both of them lied quietly on the bed, breathing heavily and panting.
Remaining silent, Pinke held Spike close to her, slowly swallowing his length as though milking it, until it withdrew back into his sheath.
As though that were a signal, she rolled off of him and lay there, looking off. He did much the same, watching the opposite wall as the both of them laid there to catch their breath and compose themselves.
No exchange of words, no cuddling, no languid sighs or satisfied smiles...
...nothing.
Just moments ago, Sweetie Belle was proving to be the biggest hoof-full a pony could ever babysit.
Just moments ago the unicorn filly was rambunctious and noisy, begging and bothering Twilight to teach her some magic.
Then all of a sudden the whole boutique was quiet.
She was worried about bringing her assistant along at first, but was pleasantly surprised how he managed to stay awake even this late.
While a part of her felt sad about it, Twilight was certain that Spike was simply growing up.
Twilight would have to ask Spike what his secret was with Sweetie Belle when she returned upstairs after getting a glass of water for herself and her assistant. But as she reached the bottom step, a roar and flash of light occurred outside of the boutique. Twilight rushed outside to investigate and gasped as a figure—a pony—walked forward with troubled hoofsteps as though she had just fallen out of the sky toward her. As the area normalized to the sparingly dim brightness of a moonlit evening, Twilight regarded the purple pony standing in front of her in simple awe. “I'm from...the future.” Was the first thing she said.
Twilight's eyes grew wide. Before she could explode into a thousand different questions that began to fill up her head, she felt a hoof press against mouth, preemptively silencing her. Without warning the other Twilight pressed her horn against hers and-
-suddenly the other Twilight collapsed to the ground, her muscles completely weak now.
Twilight herself stumbled back for a moment, feeling a familiar spell course through her. But even as the effects had yet to be felt, Twilight jumped to the other unicorn's side and cradled her in her front hooves.
Not wanting her to misunderstand, the other Twilight glanced at her with a dull, tired look and cut straight to the chase, her breathing strained. “You need to save Pinkie Pie. You have to go to the Canterlot archives...the Starswirl the Bearded section...find the scroll that will let you go back in time like I'm doing now!”
“Time travel? What are you t-” It was then that Twilight clenched her eyes tight from the sharp jabbing pricks in her head. As though expecting this, the other unicorn rolled to her side and stood up, letting Twilight press her hooves against her temples. “I...I...why was Spike...Rarity...the Princess...?” Twilight stuttered at the frightening images that continued to haunt her mind.
The haggard-looking unicorn noticed the crackles of a spell and turned toward her past-self. “FOCUS, TWILIGHT!” Seeing her other self jump slightly from her scream, Twilight chewed lightly on her bottom lip, unsure as to whether she should say anything further. But she finally relented. “...listen, Twilght. Be careful of Spike. He-”
But in a brilliant flash and roar, the other unicorn disappeared.
Twilight groaned out and dropped face-first to the ground, holding her breath in order to prevent a scream. Finding a need to breathe, she gasped out but let out a long, restrained whine under her breath. Tears were squeezed from her ducts from how tight her eyes were shut. The memory spell that her other self just subjected her to was designed to be able to convey a lifetime of experiences, almost instantaneously. But it wasn't meant to transfer the sheer amount of information that felt like her brain would explode. Nothing Twilight was seeing as her eyes remained closed was familiar, yet she could feel the terror, the hopelessness and the distress as though she experienced it all firsthoof. The heartache and fiery migraine that this conflicting jumble of thoughts, of the events from the last few days splitting between two vastly different outcomes, as well as things that had yet to happen. Amidst the being bombarded by these simply awful things, Twilight just barely managed to put her hyperventilating under control.
The effects of the spell began to settle, but sharp pains were sure to reemerge. While remaining deep and exaggerated, her breathing had returned somewhat to normal. She was able to think again.
Even though it wasn't life-threateningly dangerous to receive that many memories, Twilight was afraid of what she would learn once her mind made sense of it all. Of the effects having such conflicting information in her head would have as her brain continued to process the information. Managing to her feet, she went back into the boutique and trotted cautiously to the kitchen, getting herself a glass of water. Calmer now, she trudged with heavy hoofsteps up the stairs to the guest bedroom where she found her dragon assistant reading a story out loud to Sweetie Belle, who had already seemed to have fallen asleep.
“Spike. ” She groaned out in a whisper to him as loud as she could.
Halting mid-sentence, the dragon looked up from the book. “What's up, Twilight? Could you come closer, I don't wanna speak too loud and wake Sweetie Belle up.”
The unicorn blinked at the strange way he greeted her. She gulped and stayed at the doorway.
A harrowing scene of blood and tears. Pain. Anguish.
Spike grabbed at her neck, lifting her off the floor.
Her throat was squeezed.
He smiled as she gasped for air.
...terror...
...pleasure...
...magic drained...
...laughter...
...Rarity's dark mascara-colored tears falling onto her face...
Twilight blinked and shook her head of those images to regain her composure. She still couldn't disassemble the mess of memories, but that instance just now...she blinked again. If there was anything worth trusting it was those last words that her future self had started to say...her warning about Spike. Without warning Twilight trembled in fear as she spoke out. “I...I'm sorry, Spike but...” She suddenly began to say then paused to gulp and steady her voice. Unsure why she was speaking these words, the only thing that rang in her mind was the need to survive. To avoid some unseen predator hiding in the guest room. Her mouth continued to move and she continued to talk as though on autopilot. “...I'll have to leave you here until Rarity comes home. It's an...emergency.”
“Oh.” Was all he said in reply. No anxiety raised about what her emergency was, and no comical panic as to stay at the boutique for Rarity or to leave to help her. No change at all from the almost subdued attitude he was giving off.
Twilight shivered at the sight of this stranger before her.
“Alright. Be safe.” He nodded with an ambiguous smile, glancing back down to the book and returned to narrating the story.
Twilight backed out into the hallway and down the stairs, realizing now the seriousness of her future self's dire situation. She turned and teleported out of the boutique.

Twilight found herself once more in the darkness of night and looked down the road that led to the train station.
For a moment she thought about warning her mentor Princess Celestia, but remembered what her future self had told her once more.
A glimpse of concern on the Princess' face.
Clouds of dust. The sprinkle of hot debris.
The cold smooth texture of a floor.
The sight of both Celestia and Luna, sprawled on the ground in defeat.
Twilight was aghast at the clearest image to have appeared yet. Sniffling softly, a tear ran down her cheek as the feeling attached to that memory caused her to shiver once again and wrenched her heart.
“It...it can't be true...” She said to herself in denial.

Arriving at her library tree house, Twilight unconsciously grabbed a piece of paper and a quill with inkwell, setting them onto the table in the middle of the room.
As though possessed, Twilight began writing words. Words she couldn't remember where she read from and drew pictures that she couldn't have seen before.
Without stopping to check on her work, in a few short moments Twilight returned the quill to its well and took a step back.
Reading the words of what she just wrote, the unicorn clenched her teeth and gulped.
It was an incantation for a spell.

Pinned onto the ground, Pinkie quietly suffered from his heavy pounding, letting out soft squeaks and grunts, but otherwise holding back from making any loud noises.
They were hidden in the dark of the night, away from the sparse number of streetlamps around town. But surely, if anypony had been nearby, they could surely have heard the loud quick slapping of flesh and noticed the rank salty musk that resulted of their mutual sweat and other fluids.
He let out a feral growl as he reached climax, shooting his seed inside her.
She had gotten no such pleasure, managing to become wet only as a result of the constant physical stimulation that had been going on for the past two hours. As he grasped both of her flanks, she felt his claws dig into where her balloon cutie marks were and he began thrusting once more, his penis still hard and lust yet to be quenched.
“...no ...” Pinkie shook her head and continued to cry.
But then, from within a thundering roar of magic and light, a figure charged and knocked the dragon off of her. Still trembling, and too sapped of her energy both mentally and physically to move, Pinkie could only watch where she lay as the purple scaled beast was thrown to the ground, crashing against a nearby tree and letting out a surprised yowl.
Leaping in after him, Twilight pressed her horn against Spike's head and watched as the memory spell took a drastic effect on his current form. The dragon grunted and groaned until he returned to his regular, baby self. Twilight paused, breathing heavily, waiting for some other kind of effect to happen.
Only silence greeted her.
“T-twilight...?” Pinkie's raspy voice broke the unicorn out of her stupor and leaving the unconscious Spike, she rushed to her friend's side. She balked for a moment, reminded of seeing Rarity in the same state. Twilight hurriedly lifted the pink pony up until she lay on her side and after sitting down on her haunches, cradled Pinkie's head under her foreleg.
“I'm sorry, Pinkie. I was too late to save you.” Twilight admitted with shame. “I let this happen to you...to Rarity and the princesses and-”
“Twilight...” Pinkie spoke out, slowly shaking her head. “How could any of this be your fault? If what you showed me was true, then...”
Twilight sniffled and wiped her eyes with her other foreleg. Her breathing was heavy as she fought against the urge to cry. “...I...I have a plan. I promise I'll fix things, Pinkie. I promise that I'll set things right.”
“I trust you, Twilight. I know you will.” Pinkie gave her friend a weak smile. The earth pony was reassured by the purple unicorn's nuzzling and sighed in wary relief as though she had just been woken from a terrible nightmare. But Pinkie knew better than to try to delude herself. With a quivering breath, Pinkie pressed her cheek against Twilight's neck in an effort to stop her body's trembling. After gulping she asked, “Is there...is there anything I can do to help?”
The unicorn's features tightened for a moment, as she went quiet in thought. She swallowed down a foul taste, knowing that it would be insensitive of her and unreasonable to think that she could lie to Pinkie after everything she had just gone through. As though she were some unwitting and hapless victim that had to be protected. Twilight knew it would be too selfish a thing for to let herself be blinded by pride to recognize her obvious failure with regards to what happened to her friends that awful night in Ponyville and in Canterlot. “You need to...” Twilight began hesitantly, but pressed on since time was of the essence. She had only used the time travel spell once, but the feeling that accompanied it was all too familiar thanks to her memories. Hearing the crackle of magic only brought out her anxiety further.
Her stomach roiled in displeasure and a wave of nausea caused a souring of the unicorn's saliva when she finally found the words. “You need to keep Spike away from Rarity...you need to do absolutely everything you can to keep them apart, but without alerting the others...though I'm not one-hundred percent certain, I think they're all safe for now. But if you're not careful, you could unintentionally endanger our friends...but you won't have to do it for too long if...if my plan works...”
Silently, Pinkie made the appropriate gestures, ending with her hoof pressed against her closed left eye. And smiled.

As the spell returned her to the Archives, Twilight allowed a short sob to escape before she wiped her eyes and returned to work.
She had gone to Canterlot and found the Starswirl the Bearded section easily enough with the help of a unicorn guard. Twilight made her way to the nearby table where stacks of books, both open and closed, and piles of scrolls awaited her. The spell she had written from the top of her head back at the library was, after comparing it, an exact copy of the scroll tucked away within this section of the Canterlot Archives that she had never even known about until the other Twilight had told her about it. She was driven to confirm her fears that the memories in her head were real.
The memories of what was yet to happen. What she had to stop.
Of the various books and scrolls and tomes that she scoured in the Archive, in addition to the ones related to various monsters of myth and study that fed off of magic, Twilight Sparkle had done no better in finding anything to do with what that creature was...of what Spike would become...what he had already become.
But during her search for such an answer, Twilight managed to come upon the collection of forbidden magics that Starswirl the Bearded had, according to her book of obscure unicorn history, reportedly hidden somewhere in Canterlot. It was hard to miss with the number of bells decorating the frame of the container, most likely enchanted to alert its owner of any undue use by any unauthorized ponies. But centuries had already passed, and so too had the container's owner.
Twilight gulped after reading one particular spell in that collection. Amongst many acclaimed scholars and amateur historians alike, rumors abounded that it was the last spell Starswirl had cast...and one that Twilight hoped she wouldn't have to. But she knew deep down that that wouldn't be the case.
Twilight peered over the time travel facsimile she had just made a few moments ago now sitting on the table. Returning the original to where she found it, Twilight took a moment to steady her nerves then began to concentrate. In order to complete her plan, to keep her promise with Pinkie Pie, Twilight concentrated as much as possible on the earliest instance she saw Spike acting strangely. That moment she left Spike to return those things he took on his birthday.

When she opened her eyes, Twilight was back in Ponyville, and the sun was just setting over the horizon and night soon darkened the skies and turned the orange glow of the town into a pale blue. The area was eerily clear of any townsponies walking about.
Looking around, Twilight took note how just across the bridge was the town square. Nearby were several shops, now closed at this late an hour, and closest along the road to her was a white painted gazebo, where a dark figure just moved behind. Twilight rushed after it, and managing to round the edge of the gazebo, she found him, still wearing that white hat.
"...must...have..." She heard him groan out in a deep growl.
“Wait right there, mister!” Twilight called out.
Jumping in surprise, several items dropped out of his grasp and onto the ground, several of which rolled away or bounced off into the darkness. Spike spun around and displayed a cold, feral look in his eyes then blinked with a clear secondary pair of eyelids. He licked his lips and hungrily gazed at Twilight, but in that moment, his eyes returned to normal and he blinked with his normal set, suddenly becoming aware that Twilight was even standing in front of him.
“Huh? Twilight?” He asked in a daze, shaking his head quickly. “Wha...what are you doing here?”
“No time, Spike.” She answered sternly. Taking a step forward, Twilight's horn began to glow with the memory spell. “You're about to do something awful, and I'm going to stop you.”
“Twilight, what are you talking about?” He took a step back and asked in concern. “What are you planning on doing?”
Just as she approached closer, a clash of thunder and an explosion of light appeared next to the dragon and threw Spike to the ground as a menacing figure emerged between the two of them.
His long arms opened wide and his tall frame stepped under the light cast by a streetlamp. “Uh oh, guess who came at the last minute to fuck things up?”
“YOU!” Twilight growled out in recognition at the dragon. The sound of his voice and the malevolence in his smile raised the unicorns hackles immediately.
“Ding! Ding! Ding! Right, you are!” He gave a toothy grin.
Ready to charge right into him, Twilight froze as crackles of magic sparked around her. “No...not now!” Twilight gasped out in dismay. Looking up toward the dragon, she focused her magic and teleported, appearing next to Spike with her horn charged with the spell.
“What'd I already tell you, huh!?” The tall dragon growled out in disappointment from right behind her, proving to be much quicker than his size would seem and before she could react, grabbed and lifted Twilight up by her horn.
Groaning out in pain, Spike jerked up when he saw Twilight flailing about above him. “Twilight!” Spike yelled out and rushed forward only to be kicked away by the larger dragon.
As the frequency of the time-travel spell's crackles increased, Twilight screamed out at the searing fire that rushed through her brain. She writhed in pure anguish and hit vainly the clawed hand holding her up with her fore hooves.
As tears ran down her cheek she was tossed to the ground to where Spike had landed. “Twilight! Are you ok?” The baby dragon crawled over to her and cradled her in his arms.
“Y-yeah...” Twilight groaned out. Slowly shaking her head, the unicorn tried to catch her breath while her head continued to throb. But then, she began to feel unease creep up her spine. Concern quickly appeared on her face and her breathing became faster as she turned toward the taller dragon watching with a sinister smile. “Wh-what? I'm still here...? How? What did you do!?” She demanded of him.
“You like it?” He asked with a wheezy laugh. “That's a one-of-a-kind, top-of-the-line spell from your very own princesses! I just had to motivate them the right way for them to make it, if you catch my drift.” Seeing the blank look on her face, the taller dragon just barely choked back a laugh. “Oh, don't worry your pretty little head too much about the mechanics and blah blah blah...I sure as heck wasn't paying attention. Not that I could understand a thing they were telling me, what with their mumbling since their mouths were stuffed at the time when they were explaining it. Anyways, the important thing you should take away from all this is that I know your plan. And it's all thanks to...well, you, actually!”
Twilight furrowed her brow and unsteadily managed to her hooves. “...w-what?” She shook her head slowly, as though she could stop the dragon from continuing on by doing so.
Wearing a wicked smile, Spike nodded proudly as he took a step forward. “Crazy, isn't it? 'You' told me everything! And boy did 'you' have me fooled! Just plain ol' egg on my face. I mean, I never would've guessed 'you've' actually been using time-travel and not replication. Revealing memories of a dark and terrible future, hahaha! But then, a snag! Because I took most of your magic, 'you' had to risk a universe-ending paradox and ask a past you—that is, the cutie right before me—to finish the job. And best of all, 'you' told me all of this between those cute little moans and loud screams that I simply can't get enough of. But don't you see? You can't change me. You can't change him. Nothing you've done has made a difference. All of it's just been pointless.”
“Twilight...?” Spike worriedly looked over her, seeing something so alien on her face—hopelessness. Growling out, Spike clenched his jaw at the sight of the dragon before them, compelled to hate and feel disgust at the sight of such a creature. “I have no idea what your problem is, guy, and you're not making any sense! But don't think for one second that you're getting away after hurting Twilight without answering to me!”
“Well isn't that for a bit of irony?” The taller dragon chuckled. He playfully raised his brows as crackles of magic sparked around him. “Is it that time, already? Huh. Well, before I use up all of my minutes...”
With lightning speed he crossed the short distance and grabbed his past self, grasping tightly around the baby dragon's neck and holding him up off the ground.
Twilight's eyes blinked back to cognizance, but by the time she realized the dragons next to her, a large spiked tail whipped out, slamming against her body and throwing her like a rag doll into the nearby gazebo. While his captured prey struggled and choked out gasps for air, the older dragon placed his free hand over Spike's head, and with a flash of purple light, the baby dragon screamed out in pain. As the crackles of the time spell grew in frequency around him, Spike dropped his younger self to the ground.
The baby Spike winced and yowled from the fall, then held his throbbing head tightly and let out a pained roar.
With a groan Twilight struggled back to her hooves and could only watch in distraught fear as her baby dragon writhed on the ground. “SPIKE!?” Twilight shrieked. She trembled at the sight, panting, wincing from what surely were bruised or even broken ribs with every small, pained step forward she took. “What...did you do...to Spike, you MONSTER!?”
“I guaranteed my future.” The older dragon said coldly before a wily grin returned to his face and his tone of voice turned bouncy once more. “Have fun, Twilight. Hope to fuck you again, sometime.” With a wicked smile, he glanced down at the baby dragon as he rolled and twisted about on the ground with pained screams. “Heh. Maybe even sooner than you think!” He said in satisfaction. Then with a wink toward her, he disappeared in a flash as the spell returned him.
“...no...” Twilight gasped out. Twilight shook at the sight. Grunting, she continued closer to her baby dragon. “Spike? Spike!” Twilight gasped in a panic, tears now freely running down her face. “Please...please answer me, Spike!”
Suddenly, his cries stopped. He was simply lying on his back, completely still on the ground, causing Twilight to stumble to a halt just a few feet away.
Slowly he got to his feet.
“Spike!” Twilight felt her heart skip and smiled. She took another step forward, but then heard it.
A deep, animal-like snarl.
“...Spike?”
The baby dragon looked toward Twilight with his teeth bared and his eyes a blank stare.
“...Spike? It's me...Twilight...”
He dropped to all fours and took a step forward toward her.
Twilight sharply inhaled and shook her head slowly. “Spike...that's not funny...” She gulped. He took another step toward her, his saliva dripping out of his open mouth to the ground. “Please, Spike...” Twilight whispered as he stopped just a few feet away from away. Her bottom lip quivered as she sniffled. “...please don't make me...”
He snarled, eliciting a squeaky sob from her and before she could react he had leaped onto her.
“NO!” Twilight screamed out and rolled about until she landed on her back. She struggled, flexing her legs against Spike's arms to keep from being fully pinned down by his strength.
“RAAGH!” He roared and dove his head close to her with his jaw snapping open and shut.
Twilight screamed out and reflexively pushed her hooves against his head, freeing his clawed hands to swipe at her legs. She groaned and winced as the sharp points cut into her flesh, as his rear legs dug into her barrel to provide him leverage to move closer onto her.
“SPIKE, NO!” Twilight shouted out desperately. She barely managed to move her head out of the way as he lunged in and tore at the ground with his teeth before reeling up and pushing down on her once more. "PLEASE, SPIKE! WAKE UP!"
Her muscles began to burn, and her effort was soon slackening. Twilight shut her eyes and grunted out in an effort to push him off, but realized quickly that she couldn't last long. 'I'm completely drained of magic...' She panted and groaned out as Spike drew closer still, his hot breath cascading against her muzzle. 'I can't...no...I have to... '
Her eyes opened, completely unable to produce any more tears.
Her breathing picked up pace. She swallowed what saliva was left in her dry throat and pushed him back until he was a full leg's distance off of her.
“Spike, I don't know if you can hear me... much less understand what I'm going to say, but...” Twilight began to say, straining still against his efforts to attack her horn with his outstretched tongue. She squirmed even more, feeling the smooth skin of his now-unsheathed member pushing against her stomach as slick fluids leaked out from it, matting her coat. “...In a way, he's right! I-I can't change what you are...or decide who you're going to be...and no matter how much I try to deny it, this is a part of you! The instincts you're born with are so hard to fight against, I know...but...but I also know that you're so much more! You're generous...kind...sweet and silly! You're not destined to become this! You just have to fight it! I know you can fight it and succeed!”
He snarled and snapped at her. She whimpered and shakily gasped.
“...please...know that you're not alone. That you'll always be loved...that you have friends that love you...that I love you...so, so much...even though this is...goodbye...in a way, it's not like I'm really leaving. I mean, no matter what, I'll always be there...to watch over you...”
The muscles of her legs loosened, allowing Spike to come closer to her. "Don't worry anymore about getting magic." She smiled sadly. "Just leave it to me...alright...?" Closing her eyes, Twilight craned her neck upwards...
Their lips met...
Her horn glowed...as did her body...
...the pain, the pleasure...sorrow and hope...all of it melted away...
...as Twilight Sparkle started to glow brighter still...
His claws passed through her and struck the ground but no matter how much he struggled and pulled to free himself, Spike was now trapped within the shimmering, dazzling brightness.
Her mane took on an ephemeral shine, her form a less solid shape. She began to envelop him completely, and then...
Twilight Sparkle tossed back and forth in her bed.
As the rooster crowed and morning sunlight poured into the room through the window, the librarian awakened feeling restless. She settled for laying on the bed with her eyes open for a moment to gather her thoughts.
After basking in the warm sunlight for a bit, Twilight sat up and raised her tense forelegs toward the ceiling and stretched out her back muscles as she disregarded the vivid (and disturbing) images her mind had produced over the course of the night.
“Wow...what a rough night's sleep, Spike.” She sighed at what she rationalized as simply her imagination's wild night time conjurations. Probably stemming from her one and only dragon assistant's strange behavior on his birthday the other day. “I had the weirdest drea-” Twilight began to say with a laugh, sliding over to the foot of the bed until she saw the snoring pile of stuff where Spike's bed was supposed to be.
“I can't believe you!” She exclaimed irritably at the sight. With her horn aglow Twilight leaped down to the floor and immediately began pulling the pile apart with her magic so she could better accost Spike with her scolding. “Where'd you get all this...?” The unicorn let out a gasp at the sight of a drastically different Spike before her...

I already know what you're going to say and I can't wait to read everyone's complaints and statements of confusion.
So what really happened? What is the real ending? What was the point to writing any of this? I think this song should suffice as my answer.
...you know, I'm pretty sure there are people who won't understand any of those jokes. No, I guarantee it...anyways, thanks for reading this from beginning to end and understanding that a story tagged as Mature and Dark will involve disturbing content. I guess I wanted to prove that a story doesn't have to be pointlessly gory or violent to be (grim)dark or what have you. Bonus Chapter: In Her Majesty's Salacious Service
This takes place in Future!Twilight's (Twilight from Her Heart 2 and Her Fate 1 & 2 ) universe after she returned from warning her past self in Her Fate 3 (before that timeline collapsed, at least).

The great throne room within the Canterlot palace was dark, save for the glow of lit candle stands placed strategically along the floor and the flickering of torches on the wall, as well as the pale moonlight that poured in through the stained glass windows. Instead of the once noble and enlightened ambiance that had shone so brightly, only debauchery remained.
"Master, can we?" Luna moaned, enjoying the feel of her sister's lips brushing against her neck.
"You're so impatient..." The dragon chuckled. He let out a soft moan as the rough flat surface of Twilight's tongue brushed against his dick head. Sitting at his feet she tilted her head and lapped up the milky beads of liquid eagerly, much to both of their enjoyment. "Fine, then..." He cooed and twitched when the unicorn pony began focusing her attention entirely on his tip. "...go ahead. But you won't get...mmmm...any pity if you break your pet."
"But Master," Celestia purred as she stroked her tongue up Luna's dark horn, "what would be the point of a pet if you don't break it?"
"Heheheh..." The scaled creature barely acknowledged the alicorn's comment as he was slumped low on his throne, both of his hands pressed on Twilight's head as she engulfed his entire length down her throat. The dragon's eyes remained closed and his lips curled into a smile while Twilight desperately squirmed and writhed, gagging and unable to breathe.
Unconcerned by her student's plight, Celestia turned her attention and made her own wicked smile toward her own pony pet strapped face down to the tiled floor with its eyes covered and mouth gagged. Salivating at the tantalizing morsel before her, the sun princess shivered when Luna leaned in and lapped up her dear sister's drool and parted her lips when she dipped her tongue between them. After sharing a moment of their love with one another, the two alicorns broke their kiss and exchanged knowing, hungry glances.
"So, who will have the honor of being our pet's first?" Luna asked with barely contained excitement in her expression.
"I think it's your turn, Luna. I did after all get to be ravaged by Master before you." She lightly bit her bottom lip, remembering the experience and whipped her tail back and forth as a drop of her wetness ran down the interior of her thigh.
"But I couldn't , Tia!" Luna playfully pouted, "You are the older sister, after all."
Celestia smiled and caressed her cute little sister's chin softly with her forehoof. "That may be true, but I know full well how you love to fuck while being fucked."

Luna called out in a loud whispered voice. Her heart began to race as she rubbed her hoof over her pet's hourglass cutie mark and brought her waist close to his. "Master, please watch your dirty Luna play with her pet!"
"Hmmm? Yeah...sure, I'm...I'm watching!" The dragon's deep voice called back and echoed against the marble walls and high ceiling of the throne room. He was distracted as Twilight was now bouncing up and down, spearing herself with his dick while resting her head on his shoulder, tongue lolling out of her mouth while her mind was blank with pleasure.
"Oooooh! Luna trembled at the thought of her beloved master gazing upon her as she began pushing into her pet. She couldn't make a sound. Even if she had to hold her breath, she couldn't let out a gasp. Or else he would win.

She looked down, confused as to why the sensation of fullness remained. As she craned her neck, she saw where they were connected. Between her legs, her white coat was sopped and wet. The pink of her clitoris, engorged and pointing up, was plain to see. Because this couldn't be real. It couldn't be.

Or perhaps because of it. “Maybe this. ”
“Ahn...” He motioned his body to the side and leaned his hips back into hers, causing the head to dig against her flesh walls until his full length was inside once more. Every inch of her soft insides that he scraped caused her body to spasm. Every bump pressed against. Every cluster of nerves rubbed.
Her body hungered. Hungered to swallow him as quickly as possible.
Careful with his claws, he grasped her ass and squeezed the flesh, pulling them even closer together. At several points he loosened and tightened his grip, pinching and slapping her ass as he grabbed hold and at the last inch, pulled himself in until he was filled up to the base. Slowly, her head moved toward her left so she could take a glance to settle her nerves.
“Don't look.”
Rarity whimpered at his stern command, and quickly turned her head toward the headboard once more. Her neck froze in place, locking her head forward.
The tips of his claws were dragged softly and slowly along her back toward her tail. The heat of small electrical shocks ran against his digits, rushing up her spine. The warm press of his palms on her flanks were soothing. The circular motions he made on her legs were exciting. Her tail flickered about, then moved out of the way so she could better present herself.
He noted as she ever so subtly raised her hindquarters off the bed toward him. “Impatient, aren't we?” His voice was laced with wanting.
Rarity pressed her front teeth against her bottom lip, quivering from her body's wishes. Timidly, her head turned again but found herself without chastisement. Her half-lidded blue eyes looked up at him.
She wanted to respond. Needed to respond.
She licked her lips.
He grinned.
His right claw took hold of her tail, forcefully tugging it. Rarity squealed in pain but cooed as she was pulled closer, feeling his dick's head part her swollen lips, guided up and down along the slit by his other claw. "Ready?"
She nodded.
