Parallel, an earth filly, was found by Equality one day, and told him that she has no memory of her past, except that her parents either died or disappeared mysteriously. Equality, dazed by how similar she is to him, decides to adopt her, and raise her. After Parallel finishes school, Equality remembers how he had his own spiritual journey to find his place, and tells her to do the same, except hers should be an actual adventure.
After Parallel finishes school, and decides where she will go, Equality gives her a lucky hat and vest, and tells her he will be expecting her to write to him as she travels. Along her journey, Parallel meets up with some ponies that, as if by fate, show her just how different everypony's life is, and she learns how important it is to walk your own path, with a few good personal lessons along the way.
