She was so close, Chrysalis. She almost took over Canterlot and had defeated Celestia. But then her student, Twilight Sparkle, came and ruined Chrysalis's supposed-to-be-perfect day. Even though she had gotten rid of Celestia (she was surprised that Luna hadn't shown up anywhere to get revenge, or something), and was about to take the throne, Shining Armor and Cadence literally use the power of their love to each other to blast away all changelings, including Chrysalis herself, out of Canterlot to Faust-knows-where.
