After Button's meltdown, things finally started to look up for them both. Love got more money from her job than she thought she would. Button bought the new Ponystation 4, as well the new Ricochet and Clink game. After a few more days of packing, complaining, being sweaty, and general unpleasantness, they were finally ready to leave for their new home. After that was all said and done, Love called the "Ditzy Movers", and put the stuff in the van. Then, they rented a carriage, and were off to Ponyville, the land of Harmonious Chaos.
When they were close to arriving, Love had to wake up Button, as he had fallen asleep. And by wake up, I mean pouring ice water down his ears.
In the Everfree Forest, a lonely mare heard the most ungodly shriek she had heard in all her years.
"What is this? Some animal seems to be quite pissed."
"*)(*ARN SVICKLE CEN YUYTRE JUSTREW, WYRNMONY EIN FEIVIL?!" Button was so surprised and angry, he accidentally lapsed into Cave-Orcian.
"You wouldn't wake up when I poked you, so I had to resort to drastic measures." Barely stifling a giggle, Love Tap was trying to get her son to out of the carriage, when a pink... monstrosity smashed into her chest. The pink... whatever was was talking, but since Love had face-planted (and the thing was sitting on her head), she could not see it... but by Luna, she could hear it.
"HiI'mPinkiePieAreyounewinPonyvilleIhmygoshisthatyoursonOhgoodnessIneedtothrowyoutwoapartyWhoaGottagoBYE!!!"
After the thing had bounced away, Button rushed over to check on his mother.
"MOM! Are you okay? That thing didn't hurt you. Wait, did it? OH LUGHFHI-" he was suddenly cut off by a hoof jammed down his throat.
"I have had enough screaming for one day. So, to that end, shuddup."
And with that, the newest residents of Ponyville went inside their new home.

"Mo~om! I got the mail!" I yelled. Since we lived on a house on top of a large hill, our mailbox was about half a mile from the house. Which also made for quite the work-out if I wanted to run.
"Just a minute, hun! I'm putting a bow in my mane." Ugh, women and their fashion. Makes me glad I'm a colt, though I wonder... You know, before this gets kinky, I'm going to cut myself off right there. To help clear my head... Hmm... Maybe I got some mail? Guess I could check...
Junk, crud, bill, 'nother bill, more bills, a carnation, a... Wait, carnation? As in, a love flower? This day cannot get any worse.
"Button, sweetie, how do I look?"
I looked up, and fainted right then and there.

Wha- Where am I? I can't... I paused, searching for the right words, FEEL anything, but yet, I can still feel things... This must be what a Time Pony's memories go through when they enter a fob watch.
Since I could not see anything except for myself and the infinite blackness, I started to piece together a hypothesis.
Let's see... Infinite blackness? I could be dead, asleep, among other things... Hmm... Maybe I can rule out death if I figure out how to manipulate the landscape like a lucid dream...
As I was trying to think of a place to create within my mind, I stumbled upon a door. Or rather, a door appeared out of nowhere and bashed me in the face. After a stream of curses and obscenities, I finally looked up at the door. Except, it wasn't a door, exactly. It looked more like the REALLY creepy windows *&* from Luici's Mansion.
Wha... What the HAY is this?! And... what's going on inside of it?
As he watched the glass, he saw his mother, watching something and crying. He could not hear her, but thankfully, thanks to Grand Theft Carriage, he could read lips. What he saw made his face pale.
"Honey, please come back. I don't know if you can hear me, but please, come back. You're all I ha-" was all Love Tap could say before bursting into tears.
Enraged, I smashed the window. Yet, it was all for naught, as hundreds of other windows appeared. The scariest part about it was that they all showed ponies that I loved, or that loved me. And they were all crying. Every last one was crying, sobbing, wailing, and basically having a tear-fest.
Young child, you are an anomaly.
Whirling around, I saw a tall, bipedal creature )$$( standing there. He looked middle aged, but... The Pain. In his eyes, there was so much.
How does one so young have eyes so old?!
Child, I have more to me than meets the eye. I am old, I am young. I am new, I am outdated. What you see is not always what you get...
Bwuh... How did he-
Read your thoughts? Child, you insult me. I am more powerful than your mortal brain can comprehend. Have you ever heard the rumors of "Father Time"? I am he, my friend.
I finally figured out how to access my mouth.
"YOU'RE FATHER TIME?!?!" I screamed.
He cringed. Guess I was too loud.
Not so loud, child. But yes, I am Father Time. But please, call me Clockwork.
"But... Why are you here?" I asked, still curious about the situation as a whole.
Child... There is no easy way to tell you this. You are in a coma. Gesturing to the windows, he said, Everything in these windows are things that are actually happening in the real world, where ponies are waiting for you. Child, you intrigue me. With that said, I am offering you a choice. A choice, of life or death. Child, you will have to choose.
"Between what?" Now I was scared. Life and Death?
You may chose from going home, he said, gesturing beside him to the windows showing scenes of me hugging my mother.
Or, you may chose the floating paradise, called Elysium. He gestured to the windows shown on the left, showing infinite happiness.
"May I take my mother with me?"
No, child. Only you.
"Then I know what I must do." My face was full of determination.

I'm sorry. I am so, so sorry...
I have to put this on hiatus for a while. I am doing a tribute story to Sonic X, and it's basically a continuation, but bringing my favorite characters cak to life.
The Strange Life of a Mashing Button
"Now, sweetie, please calm down. It's not like moving will cause the world to end." Love Tap said.
"Why, Mom? Huh? Why should I calm down?! We move every year. Every. SINGLE. YEAR!! We have not stayed in one place for more than one year! Ever!!!" Button yelled. Needless to say, he was NOT having a good day.
"Now, Mashie-" she said, trying (and failing) to calm her son down.
"Don't 'Mashie' me, mother! I am tired of running. We have ran, ever since that fateful day, eight years ago tomorrow." His tone took on a more caring tone, yet still filled with spite and anger. "Mother, you cannot run forever. Not even the mythical Doctor could do it, and he committed mass genocide against two entire races!" His tone got even softer, all of the anger gone from his voice, replaced by care and worry. "Mom, please. Do it for him. He wouldn't want you to be miserable. He even told you, on his death bed no-less, to move on. Mom, he loved you with all of his heart. He would give you his food, even if he was to starve. He would give you his blanket, even if he would freeze to death. Mom, you have to let it go." His tone changed one final time, now full of only desperation and love. "Please. It's tearing us apart. Please, do it for me."
And with that, both mother and son cried. Tears of sadness, tears of misery. Tears of hope, tears of longing. The only thing that mattered to them at that moment was each other.

Welp. I like it, and think it's a pretty fantastic way to start the story. Now, you all, on the other hand, may not think so. Which is fine, because the only ones that could not like this chapter would be Grammar Nazis, cold heartless people, and trolls. Make of that what you may.
