Chapter 26: Rule 63

"Three to go." I sighed.

I then found myself to be in another open area. What I thought was interesting was that two of other people were already there and had seem to come to some sort of compromise. They were talking like friends and not even trying to kill each other.

"Hey S" I called out.

"What? I'm doing something." She said.

Her voice seemed labored and higher. "Should I want to know what in the hell your doing right now?" I asked.

"Pr-obably n-AH-t." A long moan followed that.

"What the fuck?!"

The two seemed to notice me and of coarse were aiming there weapons I saw there reaction and ducked for cover as a few bullets whizzed past me and hit the wall. Bits of concrete flecked off the wall. "Perfect."

I reached my hand to my pistols and waited. The shots stopped and I ran out, ducking and weaving through the oncoming wall of bullets. I got into to cover and waited again. With all these chest-high walls, this place would be great for paintball. I guess the real thing is just as good.

The shots stopped and I ran out again. I got close and did a home-run slide and returned fire. A little more accurately at that. As each seemed to waste bullets and stand there I landed three body-shots each. They both dropped into a combined pool of blood on the floor.

"Hey S" I called out again.

"Yeah."

"What the fuck?"

"...Your really good at the whole killing thing. I like it...A lot."

I shook my head. "One left and I get her back."

After wandering around I was on a high spot over a small corridor. And lucky me, the last guy was wandering down that very corridor.

I smirked at how incompetent he seemed. "Hey S, check this."

I jumped down onto him bringing us both to the ground. I flipped out the the knife and brought it down. He blocked it with his forearm and kicked me off. We both stumbled up from the ground and he brought up his pistol. I ducked and grabbed the arm holding the pistol out of the way. I slashed my knife across his stomach and weaved under his arm. I plunged it into his back and it held tight. A loud gurgle came from him. I jiggled the knife but it didn't loosen. I made some room and lifted my leg. I pressed my foot on his body and kicked while I pulled the knife out. A spattering trail of blood followed the knife out and landed on the wall.

"That's all of them. Now where do I go to get my prize?" I asked.

"About that." S trailed off.

"...S?..."

"Come back to the spot you started."

I wandered around for what felt like hours and finally reached the door I had come from. I walked through the door to see the blonde woman and her bald friend standing on either side of Twilight who was tied to a chair. Classic.

The blonde woman began to clap. "Well done."

Twilight looked at me with a combination of relief and sadness.

"Let her go so this can just end." I said disdainfully.

"Alright," She said. She snapped her fingers and the bald man untied Twilight.

"Great, now I can kill you and wake up from this bullshit."

"Ah, ah, ah." She said waving her finger.

"What? Why?"

She cocked her head to the side and I followed the motion to see the bald man holding a pistol toward Twilight.

"Well shit." I smiled wryly.

S cleared her throat and held out her hands palm up. I pulled the pistols from my belt and tossed them to her. She cleared her throat again and I tossed the knife to her as well.

"Good. That's it, you can go now." She said waving me off.

Twilight started walking toward me. I held my arms out and we hugged. "Go out for a minute."

She looked up to me and nodded. She walked out and I turned my attention to the other woman.

"So who are you really?"

"Still haven't figured it out yet? In a way I'm you." She said gleefully. "Or I'm a certain part of you. Or I'm a figment of your subconscious that is a different representation of you."

"No, your not me." I said as I walked toward the door.

"Hmm, Just how's that?"

I stood in the open doorway. "Cause I don't forgot important things." I said as I pulled the pin of the grenade. I tossed it in and closed the door. The door then stressed and extended outward as black burn marks surrounded the frame. I walked toward Twilight who stood there waiting. "Now I do believe we were in the middle of something."

I opened my eyes. The room held an orange glow as the sun peaked over the horizon. I looked down to see Twilight still sound asleep. "I wonder just what she's feeling right now."

I raised my hand and stroked her hair softly. I laid my head back and watched as the sun continued rising.
