Chapter 27: Enjoying the day

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

After an hour of waiting Twilight finally woke and we shared a morning glance. We smiled, kissed and sat there for a few moments.

"Hey Twilight."

"Yes?" She replied hugging onto me.

"You ever had one of those...dreams...That makes you really, you know...think?" I asked staring at the ceiling.

"A few, honestly I never really remember my dreams." She laughed lightly.

I shared in the laugh. My face grew more serious. "Usually, I don't dream. When I do it's always something weird or deep. Since you showed up I've been having crazy ones."

"What did you dream of this time?" She asked.

"Well, It started with me falling. I was just, falling."

"That's it?" She asked a little disappointed.

"No, there was more." I reassured her.

"Can I here it?" she asked propping her head on her hand.

"Alright." I smiled. "So I closed my eyes and fell for a really long time. Then I felt someone tap my shoulder and when I opened my eyes I saw Huang."

"Your old friend." She interrupted.

I nodded. "We were in a church and there was a wedding."

"Who was being married?"

I smiled at that. "I think you can take a guess."

She looked off thinking about it and looked back at me happily.

"And then she said she was me" I said looking off.

"That is strange." Twilight joked.

I smiled and rolled my eyes.

"Listen, could you promise me something?" She asked looking a little down.

"Sure, anything."

She perked up at that. "Can you try to be a little kinder, you know, try to be less harsh?"

"Alright...for you."

We shared another kiss and got out of the bed.

"So just where did you learn to do that stuff?" She asked putting on the borrowed clothes.

"Years of experience." I laughed.

She gave an inquisitive glance, still holding a faint smile.

"C'mon." I said walking toward the door. "We gotta go see someone before we can leave."

We walked out the door and she followed me back to the emergency ward. I stopped at the desk again.
"Hernandez?"

"Recovery, 246." the woman stated.

"Thanks."

We walked down the hallway to the room and walked in. Jeremy was asleep in the bed, his arm in a sling. Justin was asleep in a chair near the bed. I stepped up to him and bumped his shin with my foot. He woke up at the startle and looked around rubbing his eyes.

"What?" He asked.

"You ready to go home?" I asked.

"Sure." He said as he got up and stretched.

We all walked out and left the hospital. Justin drove and me and Twi sat in the back looking at all the older buildings.

After about a half hour of driving we finally got home.

"Thanks man." I said as I ducked out of the car.

He didn't respond and went inside his house. I shrugged it off and walked across the street with Twilight. We walked through the door and I sat down on the couch while Twilight fiddled around with the books on the floor.

"What are you on right now?" I asked.

She held up a smaller book and read it's title. "The Giver."

"You'd really like that one. How far through are you?" I asked

"I've only read the first sentence." She answered.

I thought for a moment and liked the idea I came up with. I walked into my room and came back out with a pillow and a blanket. I placed the pillow by the arm of the couch and lied down. "Since your so early on in it, lets read it together."

She nodded with a smile and walked over to the couch with the book. She sat down on my lap and lied down on top of me, her head resting on my chest. I covered her with the blanket and she opened the book. I began to read the book aloud from the start.

It was almost December, and Jonas was beginning to be frightened. No. Wrong word, Jonas thought. Frightened meant that deep, sickening feeling of something terrible about to happen.
