Chapter 37: That feeling

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

After another few hours of holding out I manged to the morning. The sun rose and glowed over us. I started to think about why I decided to climb up to the roof, though it wasn't the first time I camped out up there. The warm rays shined on us and the usual morning sounds came about. Birds chirped, people walked by, and the occasional car passed. Twi woke and sat up next to me stretching.

"Morning." She yawned.

"Uh yeah, morning." I said with jitter in my voice

She gave a small grimace and looked off.

"What what's wrong?" I asked with a twitching eye.

"Nothing. Uh, did you, um...get any sleep last night?" She asked nervously.

"Uh no, no not really." I replied bleary eyed.

"Okay."

"I'm hungry, you hungry?" I asked.

"Sure, let's get some breakfast." She said uncomfortably

"Great." I said as I hung from the edge of the roof and dropped down.

"How am I supposed to get down?" She asked form up there.

"Hang down and kick off. I'll catch you." I called up with outstretched arms.

"I don't know." She said reluctantly.

"Just trust me."

"Okay, I trust you." She said as she slid off the edge.

"On three let go. One...Two."

She looked down to me nervously.

"Three!"

She let go and fell about six feet down onto me. I caught her and fell back hard. My back slammed into the hard concrete and it rocked me over.

"Ugh, fuck you physics. You okay Twi?"

"I'm okay." She said pushing off of me.

"Awesome." I said getting up. "Now let's grab something."

We walked back into the house and through to the kitchen. After digging around for a minute, I gathered milk, a couple bowls and spoons and the box of cornflakes off the top of the fridge. I poured our bowls and add milk to mine and immediately began eating. A little too enthusiastically at that. Twilight simply stared at me uneasily.

I looked to her with a mouthful of cornflake. After a rather hard swallow I spoke. "Something wrong?"

"Are you sure your okay?" She asked.

"Yeah I'm okay, fine, fine, really good. I'm cool." I droned on.

She looked at me with an uncomfortable face. "Hmmm."

"Something wrong?" I asked wiping my face after drinking down my bowl of milk.

"You seem...Off."

"I'm fine, really."

"I don't know." She nervously.

"Seriously. Everything's fine." I said with an unnecessary amount off nodding.

"Come on." She said grabbing my arm and leading me to the couch.

The pillow was still propped up against the arm of the chair.

"Lie down." She said.

I did and looked up to her. "I don't know what your getting at."

"Take a nap. We can go out when your not." She then spun her eyes around derpy style and gave a moment of awe at just how she did it.

"But I'm not tired." I said with dreary eyes.

She put her hand on my head and patted it. I drifted off. The last thing I saw was her kiss my forehead and sit down on the floor.

"Aw shit, here we go again."
