CHAPTER 3: The bookie unicorn

It took a while, but after a lot of questions, me and Dash managed to explain everything

to the three fillies. Jay and Spencer had come out now, and were adding to my

explanation. Well, Spencer was. Jay was sleeping on a pile of hay, as he already knew

what happened. “Wait, so mah sisters gonna get mad at you now?” Applebloom didn’t

seem to want her sister to do anything to us, even if we were humans. “Well she said ‘If

any of them come running in telling me there’s a weird creature in the barn, you’re gonna

get bucked’, or something like that. Considering none of you went in yet, I’d say we’re

safe.” Spencer calmed Applebloom with these words. “But what if that Timberwolf

comes back? Shouldn’t we tell AJ about it?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Nah. I’ll just run it

out again. Hey, do you have a chainsaw? That would work wonders on a wolf made out

of wood. Anyways, it’s getting late. We should really go to bed now.” After assuring the

fillies that the Timberwolf wouldn’t come back, they finally went to sleep. It took us a

little longer, but we also fell asleep.

“What the hay are you doing?” I lazily opened one eye. Applejack was standing over me,

and she did NOT look happy. “I thought ya’ll woulda followed orders and stayed

hidden!” I yawned and stretched before replying. “It’s hard to stand down and watch a

wood-wolf attack your sister. So I saved them. You can’t be mad at me for that. Don’t

worry, me and Dash explained everything, they know what happened.” Everyone else

started to wake up now. “Morning, AJ.” Jay said as he slid down from the pile of hay he

was on. “Hey Jay, how’s your chest doin ya?” Jay smiled. “Actually, much better. Guess

you didn’t break anything. By the way, we didn’t exactly get the name of where we are.”

“You’re at Sweet Apple Acres, home of the finest apples in Ponyville!” Applejack said.

She looked extremely proud of the fact too. “But, how’d ya save mah sister from a

Timberwolf?”

“Easily. By the way, you need a new axe.” I said, grinning. “Your old one got lodged in

the thing, so it ran off with it.”  Applejack looked surprised. “But Timberwolves are

really ferocious!” I laughed. “Not when you start chopping them down! So, you said

Twilight could help us. When do we meet her?” Rainbow Dash flew over to us. “Well,

since you can’t go out in the open, she’ll have to come here. And I doubt that she will

when I say ‘We found humans at AJ’s!’. Even if I did go to another dimension, she would

never believe me.”

“I’ll tell her. Since I’m the element of honesty, she’ll have to believe me. I’ll see you

sugercubes in a little bit.” And with that, she headed towards Ponyville. “Oh, one last

thing. I told Big Mac about you guys, and he said he’d teach you guys how to buck

apples, since I’ll be gone.” She left after she said this. “Great, we still have to do chores,

even if we are in another world! And who’s Big Mac?” We learned that one second later.

A large red stallion with orange hair came in, and took us to the place we landed at. After

showing us what Apple bucking is, we started to buck the weaker trees. I don’t know

why, we’re plenty strong on our own. We went to the bigger trees a bit later, and Big Mac

seemed surprised we could buck them. “It ain’t too hard. A swift, strong kick makes all

the apples come down. It helps that we’re strong, too. Hey, when’s lunch? I’m starved!”

As it turns out, Applejack also told her grandma, Granny Apple, that we were here. So

were able to talk to her as well as have complete access to the farm, since everypony there

knew who we were. “Hey Dash, why did Applejack call herself the ‘element of

honesty’?” Jay asked. Rainbow Dash stopped chugging the cider she had. “Well, all of

my best friends have one of the elements of harmony, and AJ is the element of honesty.”

“Elements of harmony?” Spencer seemed interested at this. “Yeah, there’s also the

elements of magic, laughter, generosity, kindness, and, yours truly, loyalty.” Well, that

must have been why she didn’t attack me after I attacked Applejack. Jay put that thought

into words for me. “So is that why you didn’t try to kill Colin after he pinned

Applejack?” I flinched, as well as nearly choked on the apple I was eating. Applejacks

siblings were sitting right near us, and I don’t think they would let me stay if they knew

that had happened. “Yup. But I didn’t know you lived on the streets. I met you guys at a

house.”

“Well, we only got the house recently. Two months ago, in fact. Before that we lived on

the streets since we were six.” Applebloom jumped over to Jay with a worried expression.

“Ya mean you ran away from home?” Spence answered this one. “No, our parents died in

a house fire. It’s a good thing we lived near a market. Plenty of food, and no one’s gonna

deny an orphan food. Some people offered to take us in, or take us to the orphanage, but

we lived better on our own. It got really bad sometimes, living in an allyway. But we got

through it, and here we are now.” Everyone seemed taken aback at this, as they weren’t

expecting him to tell them our life story. Jay broke the silence easily enough. “Well, I’m

bored. Are we gonna go back to apple bucking or what?” I just stared at him. “Nice

transition. Being orphans to doing chores. You are such a moron.” That broke the ice a

little. Everyone was chuckling, and that’s better than being sad for us. “Well, I’m bored

too, so let’s go.”

________________________________________________________________________

Applejack had been gone a long time. I don’t know where Twilight lived, but she said

she’d be back in a bit. I was about to go to find her, but then I heard her and another voice

coming towards us. “Don’t worry, Twi. They ain’t mean or evil or anything. Just give ‘em

a chance, and don’t be too surprised to see them.” Applejack came over the ridge that

went through the field, and she was followed by a lavender unicorn with pink and purple

striped hair, only with a small stripe of pink, and straighter than Sweetie belle’s.

“Applejack, I know you’re the element of honesty, but the fact that Rainbow Dash has

rescued by humans, and that they’re now living here is just way too unlikely to be true.”

“Ah was telling Dash the same thing when one of ‘em landed right in front of me. Dash

even told you herself. Ah don’t get why you just cant accept the fact the there really are

humans here. Or why you had everypony meet us at your house.” Twilight shook her

head. “If there really are humans, then we should either be ready to take them out, or try

to make peace. If it goes well, I’ll request a meeting with Princess Celestia to see what to

do with them.” Jay apparently heard the whole thing as well. “Well, at least there are no

crappy politicians here.”  Applejack and Twilight walked over to us, and Twilight looked

a bit nervous. “Guys, this is Twilight Sparkle, or Twilight for short.” I knew that I would

do a better job at an introduction than Jay, so I spoke first. “Hi Twilight. My name is

Colin, and this is my brother Jay. Spencer is around here somewhere, but-”

“So this is Twilight, I presume?” Twi jumped a little as Spencer walked up behind her.

“Yea, but she seems awful jumpy. Not how I imagined her.” I gave Jay a look. “Jay, no

one here has ever seen a human before, so It’s expected that she’s a bit nervous,

especially since she thinks we’re a threat.” Twilight looked at me. “Wait, so you heard

part of me and Applejack’s conversation?” I nodded. “Don’t worry, we aren’t gonna hurt

anyone. Take us to your place if you want to, nothing bad will come of it.” I stared at Jay.

“Probably.” Jay gave me a “Why are you looking at me?’ look. Twilight noticed this.

“Why are you looking at him?” I looked back to Twi. “He causes about thirty percent of

our problems. Anyways, how are we gonna get to your place? I’m sure everyone won’t be

happy to see three humans walking around.”

“Well, I know a teleportation spell, but I’m not very good with it. We may not get all the

way there. Or worse…” Spencer stopped her. “At least try it. If we’re going to ever get

out of here, we’ll need you, if not to but us back in our diminsion, then find someone who

can.” Twilight smiled at him. “Ok, everypony stay close!” Twilight’s horn started

glowing, and then exploded into a flash of white. When I could see again, we were

standing in what seemed to be a library. “Well, I didn’t know that a library counted as a

home, but who am I to judge?” Then, a voice from behind me said: “Well Twilight, who,

or WHAT, are they supposed to be?”
