What Am I Doing?

As my mother came down the stairs, my ears picked up a yell. It was loud and short. I heard fast hoofsteps coming toward me and I braced myself. As the figure hit me and took us both to the ground, I heard laughing. I opened my eyes and gasped.

" Fang!?" I asked my big brother. He stopped laughing and smiled at me. I looked at my mother who was trying to contain her laughter as hard as she could. "What are you doing here!?" I asked. His smile faded and he helped me up.

" Mom called. Jeez, Saderine I though you would be happier to see me." The hurt look on his face made me frown.

" I didn't mean it like that, Fang." I pulled him into a hug and sighed. " I thought you'd still be fighting on the sea is all..." My brother hadn't been here when I left to Equestria... He was fighting the Sea Pony-Changeling War that was going on just on the Equestrian border. I was happy to see him here, alive. Too many changelings had been brought down by those cheating , lying water suckers... I smiled and laughed.

" He's coming with us, Saderine." My mother said, startling me. I had forgotten she was there for a moment. I looked at my brother who was smiling like a maniac. Fang? Coming with us? To Equestria? Oh, dear...

Pacing hoofsteps was all that was heard when we settled into my home in Ponyville. Fang quickly changed his appearance even though he was still gaping at Equestria. Fang came into the guest bedroom where my mother and I were setting up the two beds and showed off. He was now a grey unicorn with black sketchy hair. His cutiemark was a game controller with a head set placed on it like it is placed on a pony's head.

"Of course you would pick video games. Those things are going to rot your brain ya' know." My mother said at him as she spread the bed set with her magic. I saw what she was doing and quickly put a hoof on the bed.

"You can't use changeling magic unless you're opening portals!!!" She raised an eyebrow at me and looked at my brother who was too busy looking at himself in the mirror. She chuckled and went to setting up the pillows with her hoofs. I let out a sigh of relief. My ears picked up more hoofsteps.. A whole group of them " They're here!!!!" I said to them, catching their attention.

"Act natural and don't blow our cover...Fang!!" Chrysanote yelled at my brother who was still looking at his reflection. He laughed.

" Mom, I'm a changeling spy. Blowing covers? Not my thing." He got up and came by me. " I like it here.." He whispered in my ear before walking out of the room. I looked at my mother and smiled.

"Let's go."

I made a bunch of mini dandelion sandwiches as they knocked on the door. Fang opened it and let all of my friends in. My mother stood in the kitchen with me. The space between the two rooms made the view from the kitchen easy to see all that was going on in the living room. My brother occupied them as we finished up. When we entered it was silent.

"Jeez Shimmerz. You and your sister look like identical twins!!" Cinnamon said, scarfing down the sandwich. My mother smiled and I huffed.

" Everypony, this is my MOTHER, Chrysanote and my brother, Fang!" Cinnamon blushed and Melody started laughing. We all stared at her.

" Look!! Look how red he is!!!" Lily said, joining Melody in laughter. soon, we all started laughing at Cinnamon as he hid behind his wings.

" So, Mom. This is Blitz and His sister Lily." I said as Blitz walked through the walkway from the kitchen. He stood by me and smiled. Lily came up and shook her hoof and my brother's. "Melody and Cinnamon." I said. They came up and shook her hoof. "And Blue! Unfortunately, Skatespark and Trip couldn't make it due to rush hour at work." Blue was busy talking to Fang about some sport game

" So, Shimmerz?" Blitz asked me, snapping me out of my daydreaming. "How was train ride?" I smiled at him.

"Good. I'm happy to see my family again." I though of Fang who had been on the sea for the past year.. I was really truly happy to see him. I had hoped this visit would go well.

When my doorbell rang I sighed at having to leave the scene but, went anyways. When I opened the door, my eyes grew wide. At my doorstep were Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, both with tear stained faces.

"Where....Where are my niece and nephew??" The distressed Sun Princess asked. Lily ran to the door and hugged them both.

"What's wrong?? Did something happen??" She asked, her voice full of worry.

"Come in, please." I said to them. When we entered the room, my mother quickly excused herself to the other room,dragging Fang with her. "Princess Luna, Princess Celestia? What's happened??" They shared a look of worry and Princess Luna spoke up.

"Lilira and Chiron....." She said before chocking on her words. Melody levitated her a tissue. She gratefully took it and looked at her sister who was sitting on her haunches.

" Mom and Dad?? What happened??" Blitz asked his Aunt. They didn't answer. " Celi?? Luna???" He asked again. Princess Celestia ,cleared her throat and closed her eyes.

"Blitz...Lily... You're parents are dead.." The whole room went silent. Celestia covered her face in a tissue that was held in her gold aura.

"What???" Lily said, her eyes shining with tears. She looked at Blitz who was looking at the ground,eyes closed. "How?? Why?? Aunt Luna!! Please tell me she's lying!!" Lily yelled at the night princess. Luna straightened her posture.

"Niece, we would not lie about something this serious" She said softly. " Come here." She gestured Lily to come into her hoofs. Lily got up and ran into Luna's embrace, sobbing.

"What happened?" Melody asked Princess Celestia., giving her another tissue.

"When we sent them on the mission to Sadlerarabia, we sent them to examine a strange magic force that was disrupting the inhabitance of the country. When Tirek escaped Tartarus, he went there to retrieve the magic...." She took in a deep breath " Your parents were one of the firsts to die trying to protect it..." Blitz sniffed and tears stripped down his face.

"Why?!?!?!" He yelled " Why did you have to send THEM!?! Why?!?!" HE stood up and charged out the door, slamming it behind him with his magic. Lily, who now had Blue's wing wrapped around her, looked at me and gestured to the door with her head.

"Thank you, Shimmer Shine." Princess Luna said with a weak smile.

"Blitz!!! Wait!!!" I said. I had been chasing him across town for a good five minutes and I had guessed he was trying to get to his parents house. When he stopped for air, I took my chance and tackled him from behind. He struggled, almost knocking me off but, I held my ground. "Stop! I'm trying to help you!!" I told him. He stopped and looked at me before closing his eyes. Tears started flowing down, sliding down his cheeks onto  the ground. I let helped him up and sat on my haunches, same with him.I Put a wing around him and he put his head on my shoulder. " It's ok...I'm here for you. We're all here for you, Blitz.." He sniffed. " It will be alright." I told him. Up the road, I saw the rest of our group walking slowly walking towards us. Lily had stayed with Blue and the Princesses were gone. My mother and brother were with them, my mother looking at me with confusion and worry. Blitz didn't bother looking up, he stayed with his eyes closed on my shoulder. When they arrived to us, Lily nodded at me and I got up and stood by my mother. Lily and Blitz walked off to go to their parents house together. I leaned in to my mother's side and whispered in her ear. " Lilira and Chiron are dead, mom." She gasped and took to the skies. I looked at my brother and sighed.

" Let's go home." He said " I don't think mom is gonna be back for a few hours." I looked back at the group who were talking quietly.

"It's okay everypony." Cinnamon said " We should all go home and get some sleep." He pointed to the sunset and started walking. Melody gave me a hug and followed Cinnamon to get to her house. Blue walked up to me and whispered.

" I need your advice, Shimmer Shine. It's about Lily and.."

" Shh." I said " The best thing to do right now is show her that you're there for her." I smiled at him and gave him a wink. He laughed and gave me a hug.

" Thanks, Shimmerz."
