What Am I Doing?

The next morning, Fang and I sit and drink coffee, waiting for Chrysanote to come back. She hadn't come back the night before. Fang and I had taken shifts sleeping because we were worried sick about her.Losing Lilira must have been hard on her....

"Leave her alone!!!" Shouts were heard from outside. Fang and I sprang up and ran to the door. About four press ponies were crowded around my mother, all wanting to come inside and talk to us. " She won't talk to you!!" When Fang opened the door a flash made the press ponies vanish and appear in front of my front yard. My mother and I turned to Fang who was panting hard.

" Get...Inside..Now.." He said through heavy breaths. When my mom bolts inside, he slams the door and stands by me. We both look at my mother, angry.

"What?" She asks. Fang laughs and I sit down by my mother, waiting for him to yell. It was going to happen so, I wanted to get away so I wouldn't be hit in the face (again).

"What do you mean?!?! You didn't come back!!!" He kept ranting on about how if something happened she wouldn't have been there to find us blah blah blah. I stood up and changed into Saderine. My mother and Fang gasped. Fang covered me with a blanket and yelled at my mom. " What is she doing?!" I started laughing and changed back into Shimmer Shine.

" Calm down and stop yelling, Fang." He huffed at me I turned to my mom and gave her a stern look to make her stop laughing. " We were worried about you. Where did you go??" I asked her, giving her a relieved hug. When I let go, there were tears rolling down her face.

"The only pony in the whole world that looked at me like I was normal and not the monster everypony else thinks I am...." Fang sat her down and sat on the ground, looking up at her. " Gone..." She muttered.

"Mom..."

She sniffed a smiled at us. We looked at each other a smiled.

"How is it that MY children grew up to be the most kind, thoughtful and loving ponies I know?" She asked us. We laughed and I sighed.

"No matter how different or far apart we are, we will always be family." I told them. They nodded in agreement. " I need to tell them, Mom.." I said. Fang laughed.

" Way to ruin THAT moment, Saderine. I'm going to kill some zombie ponies." He said. " Have fun with this one sided conversation, Mom." With that, he transported into the guest bedroom and started playing his insane video games.

" Ha ha ha no.." She said after he left. I knew my mother was stubborn but, I needed to win this. No more secrets. No more hiding what I am from the ponies I am closest to.

" I wasn't asking your permission, mother. I respect your opinions but, I need to do this." I told her. She went wide eyed and morphed her teeth into her natural fangs. I raised an eyebrow at her and she huffed. " That doesn't work on me anymore, mother."

" I am your mother, Saderine and I say no. I already told you. Stretching limits here." She said, getting her pony teeth back. " It's dangerous. Who knows what your friends will think."

" They will except me mother!"

"How do you know that?!"

"Dad still loved you!!!!" I yelled, regretting it. "Mom... I.." I looked at her face. She was mad, sad and about to cry.

"Fine.." She said, looking at the ground. " Not a word of this to your brother." She was about to leave the room when I wrapped her in another hug. She wrapped her hooves around me and a tear hit my shoulder.

"I'm sorry.." I told her. My dad was never in any of our conversations for one reason. Him and my mom never split up. He was still here in Ponyville. He was alive and so is she. All of his family and friends think my mother is dead.. They think I'm dead too.. " So, what did those reporters want??" I asked her when we had broken the hug.

"They wanted to ask the royal nephew's mare friend how the family was taking it.." I sighed and looked peeked through my front window. Sure enough, the reporters were still there, chatting amongst themselves.

"How dare they invade like that in a time of grief?!" I said to myself. "DOn't they know what death does to ponies?!" I felt something hard on my young when I spoke the last words. "Mom... My fangs!!" They had shown up without command.....Strange

"You need to channel your anger, Saderine. Don't get too upset..." She said to me quietly. I guessed she didn't want my brother to run into the room over retaking about me and my 'carelessness'. "When are you going to tell them??" She asked when I had finished getting my fangs back in. I thought for a moment before making my decision.

"The sooner the better, Mom... The sooner the better."

I walked into the guest bedroom and watched the television as my brother played. A few guns were shot by the manual player and afterwards there was a bleeding pony stumbling towards it.

*You killed Sparkfly!!!* The game said. Fang shot up and spun around a few times before seeing I was there. He blushed and threw his headset onto the bed.

"Hey." He said causally. I chuckled and left the room, on my way to Blitz's and Lily's house. "Hey?? Where are you going?" He asked me as I walked down the hallway in my now not so quiet house.

"Blitz's house. We are having a meeting there. Be back in a few hours!!" I said exiting the house before he could say anything.  "Here goes."

"Haha, you're funny, Shimmerz , but seriously, why did you call this meeting so soon?" Melody asked me after I had just told them everything. I huffed a rolled my eyes.

" Guys, I'm not joking!! I am a changeling and my mother is Queen Chrysalis. I needed to tell you so I wouldn't have to fake my death!!!" The whole room went silent and Cinnamon spit out his punch.

"Fake your death?!?!" He yelled.

"What are you trying to do, Shimmerz. Tell us your leaving Ponyville with your mom or something?!" Lily asked, obviously annoyed. They started chatting bout how stupid and immature I was being at the moment before Blue stood up and smirked.

"Wait, GUYS!!!!!! SHUT UP!!!!!" He yelled, his echo booming through the house. "Prove it." My eyes went wide and my heart thrumped.

"P...Prove it??" I asked. Jeez, I hadn't realized they wouldn't believe me. I looked at the group, then at Blitz. He was looking at the ground smiling.. Why was he smiling?? "Fine.." I said, my voice shaky.. " Don't flip out."

"We won't.." Lily said, sarcastically.. " Trust me..." With that I focused on Saderine and heard a scream. I opened my eyes to see every pony looking at Cinnamon.

" That was the highest scream I have ever heard.." Blue said, poking Cinnamon with his wing. All eyes were then on me...

"I'm sorry...." Melody said I looked at her, still adjusting to the eye change.

"Why??" I asked. Lily was already poking at the holes on my hooves. "Why would you be sorry??"

"Cause we didn't believe you... We are your friends.." She looked at the ground and her mane shlumped over her face. I leaned down and brought her chin up.

"Well.. I don't think any pony would have....It's okay, Mel." She smiled and hugged me for a bit. " Mel....Need...Air...."

"On a totally related note." Blitz said, catching every pony's attention. He cleared his throat and  took a deep breath. "Whyisyourhairpink,howdoyoueatponyfood,whydidn'tyoutellusbeforeandhowdidyounotknowthatalicornscansensechangelingmagic???" He said quickly. I processed all that he said and answered:

"My hair is pink because my dad was a pony. I eat pony food because I have a rare decease called Ponymonsomia that only lets me eat food so I can't feed on love, also because of my dad. I was scared and WHAT?!?!" I said " You knew this whole time and didn't tell me!?!?!" I thought I was going to explode. He knew the whole time that I was a changeling....."Wait...Did you think I was using you??" He looked hurt.

"Maybe...." I huffed at him and changed back into Shimmer Shine. "I thought you were using me until I met your mother..."

"How does that work??" Melody asked him " Did she tell you!? Oh youwerekeepingsecretsagainwernt'youBlitz?!ohIknewit.Iknewit"

"MELODY!!!" We all shouted. She shrunk back into the couch and smiled.

"I had sensed that she was Chrysalis and realized you wouldn't have made her and Fang come if you didn't really love all of us..." I smiled at them.

"I love all of you... That's rare for a changeling to do but, hey, I'm a rule breaker.." Melody sprang up and wrapped me in a hug followed by Lily,Blitz,Cinnamon and Blue. These were my friends.. My true friends... It was true that I really did love them all.

"So, why did you leave Chrysatopia?" Blitz asked as we sat on the grass in the park. It was just me and him. The rest of the group was at the fair and we would be meeting them later.

" It was absolutely awful there. Hate filled the air and I could never do anything but sit on the throne beside my mother and smite ponies..." I chuckled remembering me and Fang as little fillies, we played the ' let mommy be the judge of who was the best at putting stuffed animals to their doom' game all the time.

"It doesn't sound so bad...." He said. I raised an eyebrow at him and he laughed. "Okay okay. It sound awful but, you escaped...Somehow..." He took a bite out of his sandwich and coughed. "So now that I know you and your crazy decease are preventing you from stealing love and all that crazy derping stuff... Can I tell you something??" He looked suspicious and I cautiously replied.

"Yes??" I said. He leaned in and whispered

" Hi." He laughed and flew up in the air. "You're it!!!" He yelled. I stood up and flapped my wings, chasing after him in the air. He stayed in his place in the air until I reached him. As he planned his escape root I poked him on the head, leaving him wide eyed. Before I took off I laughed.

"You're it!!!" With that, I took to the skies and smiled. "Everything is gonna be alright"
