Who is Dusk Chaser?

"I'm bored!" complained Luna in a bored tone.

"Well, what do you suggest I do?" asked Celestia. Through the years, both princesses grew up and started to mature. However, Princess Luna matured slower than her older sister, she was as playful as ever yet was still focused when it was the night shift. Celestia on the other hand was always calm and composed but sometimes showed signs of her funny side.

"How about we go take a walk in the royal garden?" asked Luna suddenly more cheerful.

"I can't Luna, I have royal duties to attend to now." said Celestia.

"Oh..." said Luna, obviously disappointed.

"Luna... cheer up, I would have loved to go but I can't. Remember, we promised mom and dad before their passing that we would do our royal duties when we take over." at this point, both princesses shed a tear when they remembered their parents.

"Ok, I guess I'll go to sleep now. I wouldn't want to break my promise." said Luna. She started to walk to her chambers when she was stopped by her sister.

"Luna, why don't you see Dusk and ask him if he wants to go." said Celestia.

"Doesn't he have guard duties now?" asked Luna. Ever since the passing of the king and queen, all the guards were assigned to guard the castle for a longer period of time.

"Not anymore." said Celestia, starting to write on a scroll and a piece of paper she conjured up.

"What do you mean?" asked Luna.

"Just give this to him before taking him with you." said Celestia.

"Uhm... ok then, thanks, I guess." said Luna.

"Give him the piece of paper first, if he doesn't follow you, give him the scroll." said Celestia.

"Ok, I'll be going now." said Luna, still confused.

Dusk was standing guard outside the palace with the rest of his squad. He had been on guard since midnight and was going to be dismissed in four more hours (Current time: 8:00am). "Alright troops, only a few more hours to go. Stay strong and stand your ground!" said Dusk.

"Sir, yes sir!" replied his troops. Suddenly, Luna came running towards them. As soon as she passed, each guard bowed their heads in respect.

"Dusk," said Luna, "You know I don't want you bowing down to me." Dusk raised his head.

"Hehe, I know. But I still have to do it." said Dusk. "Especially since I have some new recruits that need to learn when to bow. I need to set an example for them. I am their captain after all." whispered Dusk. Luna just rolled her eyes.

"Fine. However, I require your companionship." said Luna.

"Why? Is there a threat to Equestria again?" asked Dusk.

"No. Not unless you count the attack on Equestria2 by, uhm... what'shisname." said Luna.

"You mean Tirek?" asked Dusk.

"Oh yeah! So, come on let's go." said Luna.

"But I have guard duties. I'm sorry." said Dusk.

"I was afraid of that, so I talked to Tia about it. She told me to give you this." said Luna, handing Dusk the piece of paper. Dusk read: "Dear Dusk, do me a favor and go with Luna. -Tia"

"Really? A favor note? How easy did you think it would be for me to go with you

"That's why Tia told me to give you this as well." said Luna. Dusk read: "Dear Captain Dusk Chaser, I require you to accompany Princess Luna. Failure to comply will result in severe disciplinary actions. -Princess Celestia"

"Ok fine. For the record, I wanted to go with you from the start. I just wanted to see what those notes were." said Dusk.

"Troops, I will be 'assisting' our princess. Please stand your ground, Vice-Captain Anon will be in charge until your shift ends." said Dusk.

"Sir, yes sir!" replied every guard on duty in unison.

"Do they always say that?" asked Luna.

"No, only when it's their shift." said Dusk.

Luna and Dusk proceeded to the royal gardens where they just took a stroll and appreciated nature. They spend hours there just chatting and looking around. Suddenly, one of Dusk's guards approached them. "Sir, I have been ordered by Princess Celestia to summon you and her highness." said the guard.

"Thank you. you are free to go." said Dusk.

"I wonder why Tia needs us." said Luna.

"Me too. Let's go." said Dusk.

In the throne room, Celestia waited with her friends Starshine, Silver Haze, Ravenger, and Blacklightning. Apparently, Ravenger, Blacklightning, and Starshine found something near Silver Haze's home. This may be of huge interest, especially for Dusk. Soon enough, both Luna and Dusk arrived. "What is it Tia?" asked Luna.

"Our friends have found something... interesting. They are here to show us what they've found." replied Celestia.

"Hey Dusk, hey Luna, long time no see. You are not going to believe what we found!" said Silver Haze.

"We found it yesterday, it reminded us of you." said Starshine.

"Me? Why me?" asked Dusk.

"Spread out your wing." said Ravenger.

"Uhm... okay..." said Dusk. He then proceeded to spread his smaller wing.

"Now look at this." said Blacklightning. She then retrieved a small scale. She showed it to her friends and placed it near Dusk's wing.

"What about it? It's just a dragon scale." said Dusk.

"That's what we thought. We compared it to the scale samples in Starshine's dragon book." said Ravenger.

"Apparently, it's not a dragon scale. It's a scale from a bat pony's wing (Bat ponies have small scaled that protect their wing. Most of these are around the "frame" of the wing)." said Blacklightning.

"So... I leave those around a lot. I do visit your house often." said Dusk.

"Yeah, but look." said Starshine, "This scale doesn't match the color of any of yours."

"Wait..." said Dusk in a shocked tone, "Does that mean?"

"Yes, there's a chance that another bat-pony visited the Everfree forest." said Silver Haze.

"We have to find him." said Dusk.

"Yeah." replied the rest of the group.

The group set of to the Everfree forest. The sun has set and the moon has risen. The chances of spotting the bat pony grew. Unfortunately, after hours of searching, nopony found anything. "This is hopeless. We'll never find that bat pony." said Silver Haze.

"We have to try." said Dusk.

"But-" *screeeeech* Luna was cut short when they heard a screech.

"That sounded like a bat pony screech!" said Starshine.

"And it came from that direction." said Silver Haze pointing towards a narrow path. The group made haste, they had to find this bat pony. After a few meters, they noticed something.

"Uhm, Starshine... Isn't this the way to your house?" asked Silver Haze.

"Yeah, it is." replied Starshine. *screeeeech* The group quickened their pace. Evetually, they arrived at Starshine's home. *screeeeech*

"Be careful guys, the bat pony might pounce on us." said Starshine. She slowly opened the door only to reveal an empty room.

"Huh? I could have sworn I heard the screech come from here." said Dusk. Suddenly, something rushed by him. "What was that?"

Everypony looked to the corner where they found a trembling pony. The pony's face was covered by the pony's wings. The pony's wings were not ordinary wings, they were bat wings!

"P-please don't hurt m-me. I-i got l-lost in the fores and d-decided to s-stay here for a while." said the pony.

"Who are you?" asked Dusk.

"M-my name i-is Aria. Aria Song" replied Aria.

"I wouldn't think of hurting you." said Dusk. Aria started to reveal her face. She was shocked to see that one of the ponies she saw was the same species as her.

"Y-you're a bat pony." said Aria, pointing towards Dusk.

"And so are you." said Dusk.

"C-could you spread your wings a bit please?" asked Aria. Dusk complied but was unsure of what this had to do with anything. Aria did the same. She spread her wings and plucked out a scale. "Now take one of your scales too."

"Okay." said Dusk. Dusk plucked out one of his scales and showed it to Aria. Aria examined the two scales closely. After a minute, she was shocked. She looked at Dusk and suddenly pounced on him.

"Dusk Chaser!" shouted Aria. She then hugged Dusk.

"H-how did you know my name?" asked Dusk.

"Bat-ponies all have the same shape of scales. However, I received news hat a bat pony was born in Canterlot with unusual wings named Dusk Chaser. When I visited the Everfree forest on my way here, I found one of your scales. It was completely different from mine so I figured you owned it." said Aria.

"So why are you hugging me?" asked Dusk.

"Oh right... sorry. I just got excited that I found another bat pony. I haven't seen another since I ran away from my home." said Aria.

"Oh it's okay then." said Dusk.

"By the way... are you a fruit-eater or a blood-drinker?" asked Aria.

"What does that mean?" asked Dusk.

"Bat ponies either drink blood or eat fruit. I myself am a fruit eater." said Aria.

"I don't drink blood so I guess I'm a fruit-eater." replied Dusk.

"Good." said Aria, "Uhm... you wouldn't happen to know where I could stay would you? I don't really have a home now." said Aria.

"You could stay at the palace with us! We could play games, and be friends." said Luna.

"Yay! Thanks uhm..."

"Luna." said Luna.

"Thanks Luna." said Aria. With that, everypony went to their respective homes and Aria went with Luna, Dusk and Celestia. Everypony had just made a new friend.
