Chapter 3: The Nightmare
"Ha ha, oh man Cheryl that movie was great, I just can't stop laughing!"
"I'd new you'd love it, that's why I chose it for our monthly theatre routine."
"Your the perfect girlfriend a guy could ask for, heck you know me inside and out don't yeah?"
"I wouldn't say that." she said giving me a dirty look.
I don't know what happened but the next thing I saw after, whatever was giving me this headache, was leaving the theatre with my old girlfriend. I couldn't believe what I was seeing but just being able to see her smile was enough for me. Even though I dealt so happy I couldn't help but feel something nagging in the back of my head telling me that I've seen all of this before.
"Whoa there I was talking about emotion wise jeez." I said backing off
"Sure you were." she teased.
Walking down the streets we both laughed as we told some of the most corny jokes and even teased or push each other if some of our jokes came out in a way that seemed a little sick. Walking down we got close until I put my arm around her to bring her closer next to me. She rested her head on my shoulder as we continued down the lonely sidewalk. She went quiet for some time just resting on my shoulder. Even with her I still had a bad feeling for all of this it just didn't seem right. I guess I must have been thinking about that for awhile because Cheryl starting nudging me.
"Sorry babe, got caught up in one of my moments again," I said sympathetically "What's up?"
"Well it's getting late so I think we should take a little shortcut to get ourselves home," she said pointing to a narrow alleyway that cut down across two three story apartments.
Looking at the direction of of her finger my stomach dropped. I couldn't put my finger on it but it seemed that the very darkness in the alley radiated an evil that I could not explain. Just looking at it made me feel so many strange emotions such as anger, fear, and excitement but it was fear that stood out in front of them all. I could feel my face begin to lose its warmth and the sweat beginning to drip down my brow.
"Earth to Drew you there," Cheryl snapped as she waved her hands in front of my face.
"Cheryl I don't think we should go through there." I choked out, my lips trembling with fear.
"Why not?" she asked not seeming to be aware of the sudden change in me
"I don't know ok but you gotta trust me when I say that I just don't have a good feeling about that way."
"Whatever Drew, but unlike you I wanna get home as quick as possible so I'm going either with or without you," and with that she ran off towards the entrance of the alley.
"CHERYL!" I yelled as I ran after her. Running into the darkness of the alley, I immediately lost sight of Cheryl.
"CHERYL," I yelled out trying to find out where she was. No reply came and the knot in my stomach tightened. I turned my head frantically around the alley and at entrances to other alleys that didn't seem to be there when I came in. It was if the walls were moving. I was now sweating like a madman now just trying to look for Cheryl.
"CHERYL!" I yelled again hearing it echo through the walls of the many alley ways. Again there was no reply. I fell to my knees after hearing nothing and my mind was soon filled with horrid thoughts in what could have happened. All was quiet until I heard a little whisper come from all directions around me.
"Wake up"
"Huh," I stuttered as I quickly got to my feet "Who's there!"
"Wake up"
"I swear if you did anything to my girl I will break your fucking skull in you hear me!" I yelled to whatever talking to me.
Whatever I did didn't help because the voice soon came louder every time it spoke always telling me the same thing over and over again. It was now coming from everywhere each with a different tone. Sometimes it was quiet, sometimes it was loud, but either way no matter how loud it was it ranged in my ears and made my head ache every time.
"Wake up"
"Wake up"
"Wake up"
"WAKE UP!"
My head thumped harder and harder every time it came and felt as if it were ready to burst in whenever it felt the voice saying the same message over and over again. I couldn't take it anymore I raised my head up into the air and screamed, begging for it to stop. I screamed until I felt as if all the air had escaped my lungs and was sitting there gulping it in as sweat poured down from my head. That was when I heard another scream coming from another alley. I didn't waste anytime as I already knew the voice that it belonged to. Jetting down the alley the scream became more audible with every step I took. As I got closer though a bright light soon came into view. Running closer and closer I saw the walls around me crumble and replace with the same bright white light that was in front of my view. I didn't care for this though, the only thing on my mind was getting to Cheryl and getting her out of danger. I turned a corner as I heard her scream right on the other side. I took one final step before the ground beneath me crumbled and I fell into the light. I reached up my hand, hoping to grab something to get back up but found nothing. As I fell it just got darker and darker. A cold feeling was creeping up my spine as the darkness began covering all around me. Soon enough there was nothing but darkness.

Wake up.......
Suddenly, another light appeared and with it the voice returned. Though the voice was there it didn't drive me mad nor did it give me the headache. I only looked at in wonder wishing I knew who it was. This time though the voice seemed to be sad and begging me to wake up. With every passing second the voice came in more audible until finally I could her the voice of a crying girl talking.
"Wake up please, I'm so sorry......I didn't mean to hurt you like this, please just wake up."
Hearing that my body was suddenly trusted forward into the light in breakneck speed. I felt my body get warmer as I came closer to whatever the light was and like the darkness I was then engulfed by light.
