Soaring Hearts
First Night
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRainbow could barely get up, her fear and dread weighing her down like a rock. Today was the show and Twilight was making her attend. With a sigh, Rainbow rolled out of bed and hit the floor so hard she broke right through. She kept falling, the wind whipping her mane around. Flipping, she snapped her wings open and shot over to the train station. Placing her hooves on the wooden planks, she looked around and saw the girls trotting over. A smile worked it's way onto her face. Once the girls got there, Twilight spoke up.
"Alright, girls, listen up. The Wonderbolts offered to let us stay in their rooms. Here's the list of us and the Wonderbolt we're bunking with. I'm with Spitfire. Applejack's with Misty Fly. Pinkie's with Surprise. Fluttershy's with Silver Lining and Rarity's with Rapidfire. Rainbow, your with Soarin. Let's get..." Rainbow stopped listening to her friend. She was bunking with SOARIN! Rainbow could hardly believe her bad luck. She was going to be bunking with her love for a whole WEEK and she couldn't tell him how she felt. Oh this is going to be torture. I just know it.
A few hours later, the train arrived in Canterlot. Rainbow shot out the moment the door was open. She heard her friends laughing at her eagerness but really, she just wanted to get this trip over and done with so she could go back home. Slowing down so her friends could catch up, she looked around. Canterlot was always so beutui...
"LOOK OUT!" Rainbow whipped around just as somepony smashed into her full force. Rainbow yelped as she and the strange pony crashed to the ground. Rainbow untangled herself from the strange pony. The stallion beneath her suddenly got up. He was so fast that his head hit her chin.
"OW." Rainbow yelped again as she placed a hoof to her now sore chin. She turned to yell at whoever had knocked her out of the sky but stopped. It was Soarin. Rainbow heart started to pound as her brain shut itself down. Here was the pony who had stolen her heart.
Soarin put a hoof to his spinning head. He felt something hit his head and heard a little 'clunk' followed by a mare's cry of pain. He stood up and turned to apologize when his heart stopped. He had just knocked Rainbow Dash out of the sky. His thoughts started working overtime. Oh no, no no no no no no no NO! What if she's hurt or mad. She'll hate me for sure. I... wait, hold on is she talking to me? Soarin looked at Rainbow, who had an expectant look on her face. Soarin shook his head and kicked his brain into action.
"Wa.. huh?" Smooth, Soarin, smooth. Rainbow smiled and even gave a small giggle.
"I said, are you alright? We both took a bad hit to the head." Soarin nodded, unable to think. She was talking to him. The love of his life was actually TALKING to him. Not only that but she was SMILING at him. It took all of Soarin's willpower not to blush. Spitfire. For once, her insane training schedule would save his flank.
"Uh... sorry, Rainbow, but Spitfire will have my head if I'm late for training. Bye." Soarin whipped around and shot of. Rainbow sat down and scratched her head, confused and, well, hurt. As she watched Soarin blast away, she thought about telling her friends about her secret feelings for the Wonderbolt. That wasn't such a bad idea.
Rainbow was fidgeting in her spot beside Fluttershy. She wanted to tell them about her feelings but not out here where Soarin might hear her. Turning her attention to the Wonderbolts, she easily picked Soarin out from the group. Spitfire leaned back and fell of the cloud, followed by Fleetfoot then Surprise, Misty Fly, Rapidfire, Silver Lining then Soarin. The six ponies joined into a point before splitting and shooting upwards. Rainbow didn't care about the other Wonderbolts. The only one she cared about was Soarin. The group performed intense dives, death-defying stunts and bone-crushing turns. Soarin was doing his utmost best to try and impress the rainbow manned mare that had stolen his heart. He flipped upwards, along with Spitfire, the latter's mane and tail letting off sparks. Soarin grabbed spitfire's hind-hooves, flipped her over his head and threw downward. The two flipped head over hooves towards the ground. Breaking apart suddenly, they swooped to opposite sides of the arena. Soarin shot right past Rainbow, relishing in the awed look on her face. The group of Wonderbolts spiraled upwards and, at the same moment that they all touched, there was a flash and they disappeared.
Rainbow trotted after Twilight towards the hotel they and the Wonderbolts were staying at. She was not looking forward to this at all. The small group trotted into the hotel and gasped. It was almost as elegant as the palace. The Wonderbolts were waiting for them. Rainbow's chest clenched at the sight of Soarin standing there staring at them. The fact he wasn't wearing his uniform made it worse. A blush was threatening to show.
"Hey, Spitfire." Rainbow turned to Spitfire instead, to keep herself from blushing.
"Hey, Rainbow Dash. Looks like your bunking with Soarin this week." Rainbow gave a weak nod. Oh boy, here we go.
Soarin lead Rainbow to his room, trying to keep himself focused on the task. But it was hard with Rainbow not three inches away. Okay, Soarin, calm down and focus. He took a deep breath and lead Rainbow to the door to his room. Upon opening it, Rainbow ran in, gawking. Soarin smiled at the mare's antics. Whistling, he smiled as the excited mare flew over. His smile soon became panicked as Rainbow knocked him over as well as herself. Extracting himself from the pile of pony, Soarin got up and noticed that Rainbow had fallen asleep. Smiling, Soarin carried the sleeping mare to one of the beds in the room. Laying down on the other one, he decided to talk to her in the morning. As his eyes shut, he was sent into the same dream he always had. The one that turned into a nightmare.
