Ponyville. He had lived here all his life. He loved seeing Celestia’s sun rise in the morning and watching Luna’s moon at night. He was a happy Pegasus and though he had dreamt of living in Cloudsdale often, he couldn’t imagine leaving his friends. Pinkie Pie, the party pony who greeted him with a smile everyday since they met, Ash, the first friend he ever made, Derpy, the mailpony who he always gave a muffin just to see her smile, or any of his other friends. Today, however, was a different day, the newest club was opening on the other side of town. Ash, Pinkie Pie, and himself had all decided to go on opening night. He checked his calander groggily, as he had just woken up. Before he could say a word, Pinkie Pie popped out from his chimney.

“IT’S TODAY!!!” she screamed in his ear.

“Pinkie Pie..” he started.

“It’s gonna be great! Maybe we can find you a marefriend! Pinkie said, ignoring the comment

“Pinkie Pie...”

I can’t believe it’s finally here!!! Oh Lyric it’s gonna be the bestest time ever!” Pinkie continued.

“PINKIE PIE!” he shouted.

“Yes, Lyric?” she asked.

“I just woke up, can't you be a little quieter?” Lyric rubbed his eyes to make the point.

“It’d be a lot quieter if you’d stop shouting, silly!” Pinkie Pie said.

Before Lyric could protest, she was bouncing down the road.

Lyric laughed. Pinkie Pie always made him laugh. Every single time, no matter what she did, he laughed. It was impossible not to laugh, she was Pinkie Pie and Pinkie Pie made ponies laugh no matter what. That’s what she was meant to do, what she loved to do. Seeing everypony smile was the gift of a lifetime to her, how could you not give her that simple joy?

Lyric decided to go out and look for Ash. As usual, he was under his favorite tree, watching the clouds. When Lyric had first met Ash as a young colt, he gave him a sense of anxiety with all his weird tricks, but somehow, gave him a sense of security too.

“Hey Ash.” Lyric laid down beside him.

“Lyric, you’re late as usual.” Ash said.

“Yeah, Pinkie Pie came over and about gave me a heart attack.” Lyric replied.

Ash snorted. “When’s the wedding?”

“What do you mean?” Lyric asked.

“Come on, man!” he tapped Lyric’s head. “Got any brains in there? She’s crazy about you!”

“Nah, besides me and Pinkie Pie? It’s disaster!” Lyric tried to explain.

“I know you like her on the inside. Anyways, I gotta jet. That club will be open soon and I don’t wanna miss out.”

“The club isn’t open for another two hours, you got time.” Lyric yawned.

“But the lines. Oh Celestia, the lines!” Ash got up and flew away.

“Later!” Lyric called.

But what Ash had said bothered him. He and Pinkie Pie as an item just didn’t seem right. Sure he liked her, but not in a lovey sort of way. She was like his sister, he couldn’t go out with his sister and she probably didn’t like him like that either. There was no point in worrying. Lyric hopped up and decided to go along and join Ash at the club. He found Ash at the end of the line, a gruff look on his face.

“See what happens when I listen to you, Lyric?” Ash facehoofed.

“Listen to me?” Lyric protested. “You wanted to come early, remember?”

“Yeah and if I listened to you I’d be even further from the front.” Ash groaned.

“Well, at least we’re at the back of the line together.” Lyric tried to be optimistic.

Ash put his arm around Lyric’s neck. “Thanks, bro.”

“Anytime.” Lyric put his arm around Ash’s neck. “Bro.”

“HEY GUYS!” came an all too familiar voice.

“Pinkie?” Ash squinted trying to see the front of the line.

“Yeah it’s me! Come on up front, you two. I got your tickets!” Pinkie shouted.

Ash and Lyric flew up to the front by Pinkie Pie. They waited for what seemed like eternity. Finally, the club opened and started letting ponies and colts alike inside. The outside seemed large, but the inside was huge! Booths, tables, and seats filled the the large front entrance, to the left was a bar section, and to the right was a massive dance floor. Lyric saw a few pieces of equipment he recognized from his days his music theory class. A double turntable was the “mane” event. Next to it was a mixed synthesizer and equalizer, and then two four speaker cabinets on the sides of the stage. Lyric was amazed somepony could afford all that equipment. It must have cost 4,000 bits!

Ash stretched and yawned. “Seems like a pretty chill place.”

“Ooh! Good thing I brought my portable heater!” Pinkie Pie chirped.

The three broke out into laughter.

“I’ll never understand that pony.” Ash laughed, shaking his head.

“I don’t think anyone ever will.” Lyric shrugged.

At that moment the lights went out and someone spoke into the microphone on the stage.

“And now,” the barpony began. “I’d like to introduce, for your listening pleasure, DJ-PON3!!”

The music began. Instantly, Lyric started noting things about it. Subtle guitar, 3/4 time, thundering bass, and the key of G Major.

“Come on Lyric, let’s get down!” Pinkie Pie called.

“I just want a drink. Why don’t you ask Ash?” Lyric called back.

“Okie Dokie Lokie!” she called back. In a minute she was pulled Ash along to the dance floor.

“Wait!” Ash protested. “I can’t dance! Don’t make me go out there!”

“Anypony can dance, Ash!” Lyric called from the bar.

Lyric looked again to the DJ on stage. She had white fur, an electric blue mane and tail, purple glasses and her cutie mark was an eighth note. He could’ve sworn he had seen her before, she looked so familiar. She looked hotter than hell and Lyric could feel himself getting aroused. He instantly looked away and towards his drink. He thoughts, however, ran off with scenes of her.

The last loop ended and the DJ thanked everypony for coming out and the ponies on the dance floor started to leave. Ash and Pinkie Pie were one the last couples to get out.

“Man, I didn’t know you had so much energy, Pinkie.” Ash panted.

“I didn’t know you had so little.” Pinkie said, jokingly. “Did you see where Lyric went?”

“He went to talk to that DJ-PON3, I think.” said Ash.

“Should we just head home, then?” Pinkie Pie asked.

“That’d probably be for the best, I’m all tuckered out!” Ash laughed.

He turned to leave, but Pinkie stopped him.

“What’s wrong?” Ash questioned. “Are you okay?”

“I just wanted to say thanks for dancing with me.” Pinkie Pie leaned in closer to him. “And this.”

She kissed him. He kissed her back. They both could tell the other wanted it so badly and it sent shivers up their spines. When the kiss ended, they both looked at each other a long time. Then, they walked off in the direction of their respective homes, promising to hang out with each other tomorrow.

“Hey, you.” the barpony called.

“Me?” Lyric pointed at himself.

“Yeah. The hell are you still doing here? It’s past closing.” the barpony spat in a glass.

“Oh, I was just gonna talk to DJ-PON3.” Lyric said.

“Look kid, she ain’t got time for you or any of her other fans.” the barpony said bluntly. “Now go.”

Lyric turned to leave, but a blue aura surrounded him and beckoned him  to the stage.

“I knew I recognized you.” DJ-PON3 said.

“Huh? I thought the same about you! The question is who are you?” Lyric said.

“Maybe this’ll help you remember who I am.” the DJ said with a smirk.

She pulled off her trademark glasses and looked at him with her beautiful ruby red eyes. They glistened under the lower light of the stage. It was her. He looked at her as if savoring every curve of her body. It was her. The mare he fell in love with. It was her. It was Vinyl Scratch.

“Vinyl. It’s great to see you again.” Lyric breathed.

“It’s great to see you too, Lyric.” Vinyl said.

Author’s Note: Yeah, everypony disagrees on what color Vinyl’s eyes are. Personally, I think the red goes with the blue mane and the white fur, but that’s my humble opinion. We shouldn’t bitch and moan because in the end we’re bronies and it doesn’t matter. If it really bothers you, substitute your own eye color. Brony on!
