Romance in the Air

Luna's P.O.V

I fly through the dreamscape, and most of the subjects no longer has nightmares about the events that happened a few weeks ago.

"They will never appreciate your night," A voice said.

I immediately turn around, and standing there is Nightmare Moon.  "Nightmare Moon! Just what are you doing in the dreamscape?" I asked.

"They are pretending to appreciate you."

"They are not! They are forgiving! The past is in the past! Why are you trying to trick me?! Leave me alone!"

"We are the same pony, Luna!"

"Quit it! We're not the same- you're a part of the nightmares, and I'm a part of the good dreams.  I banish nightmares, while you create them! Leave me alone, or else!"

"You're kidding, you're kidding, right? They would never appreciate you. Your reason is not so valid. Not even little Twilight could appreciate you."

"How did you know her name? Were you stalking her or what? They do appreciate me, and my reasons are very true in every way! Why do you even exist?! You should have never existed!"

"Oh, quit your whining, Luna. We are the same pony, and they will never-"

"I'm not whining! I'm just standing up for myself- you're apparently dumb because you don't know the difference between whining and standing up for yourself.  You don't even know about friendship. You don't even have a kind heart! You're nothing but a malicious entity!"

"Oh, is that so? That is not enough to make me leave you alone. I can sense your bitterness."

"Quit it, Nightmare Moon! You don't even belong here! I'm gonna tell my sister about what you were trying to do with me- and I'm sure that you'll stay away afterwards!"

"You mean that coward? She wouldn't say anything. She'd just be cowardly.  You're more stupid than ever, fool."

"HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY SISTER! SHE IS NOT A COWARD, AND SHE HAS A HEART, UNLIKE YOU!"

I shoot a powerful magic beam at Nightmare Moon, and the beam envelops her.  "Wait a minute. We're the same," She said.

"We're never the same! You'll get this for corrupting me long ago!" I retorted.

"How is this possible?! You fool, I'll get you someday!"

A few minutes later, Nightmare Moon disappears, and I feel exhausted from the excess use of magic.  Sure, alicorns have a lot of magic, but theirs is a bit limited.  The unicorn's magic is more limited- and if magic use is pushed past the limits, then they would pass out or worse.  Sometimes a skill like dream walking can take some magic use.

I still feel angry that Nightmare Moon has insulted my sister.  Sure, Celestia gets afraid sometimes, but that doesn't make her a coward.  Without fear, a pony would be incomplete, right?  I sigh as I use my magic to get out of the dreamscape.  To my surprise, Celestia is standing near my bedroom door.  She has a concerned expression on her face.

"Were you alright? I hear you screaming," She said.

"Nightmare Moon was bothering me, so I used my magic on her so that she would leave me alone," I replied, "Did you hear every word that I have said?"

"Just some. Did you use excess magic to blast her away?"

"Yes- and I even told her that she gets that for corrupting me long ago.  She doesn't even know the difference between standing up for myself and whining.  And she even called me a fool."

Celestia places her wing across my body, as if in a protective manner.  "You are not a fool.  She does not have a heart- and because she's banished, you're safe from her harsh taunting.  Nightmare Moon is a fool because she has once mistaken my actions against her for cowardice," She said, "And you have stood up to her- good for you. Now, I must raise the sun. There will be a gala tonight- last time there was a gala, you didn't want to come out of the room because you felt guilt for your past actions."

"That's also because I was shy," I replied.

"I know. I would have scolded the ponies for not understanding you. But, they have accepted you- and you don't deserve to be an outcast."

"Then why did you ignore me all those years ago?"

"I was too busy being the perfect princess that I have forgotten you. I'm sorry about that."

"I forgive you. Now, I need some time alone."

"Okay, then. You seem tired. You should get some rest- and I'll send out the invitations to Twilight and her friends."

I smile as she walks out.  I am tired, but I use my left over magic anyways to lower the moon.  The moon has lowered completely, and then I feel so much more exhausted.  I quickly close my eyes to fall asleep.

Twilight's P.O.V

I wake up, and then I walk out of the castle.  My friends are waiting outside once again.  Pinkie Pie is smiling widely as she hops around.  "Did anypony have dreams last night?" She asked.

"No, but Sweetie Belle has a few nightmares, and her nightmares were turned into good dreams.  I sometimes don't remember my dreams," Rarity said.

"Well, I was having a nightmare, and I woke with a start because of it," Rainbow Dash said.

"You're not as brave as me," Apple Jack told her.

"Hey!" Rainbow Dash replied.

"I have a dream about being assertive," Fluttershy said.

"Well, I had a dream where there is a huge party across Equestria! And then I have another dream where the town is covered in frosting! And my third dream is about my coltfriend," Pinkie said, "I always have good dreams!"

"Well...... I had a dream about Luna," I said as I blush a bit.

"You do?" My friends replied in unison.

"I think she was visiting you in your dream.  My sister once told me about the dream she has with Luna," Rarity said, "Even though Sweetie Belle seems subtle about it."

"Scootaloo said that she once has a dream about Luna," Rainbow Dash said.

"I wonder if she'll enter Apple Bloom's dreams someday," Apple Jack said.

I open the mailbox, and in there are tickets.  I look at them for a second.  "We're invited to the gala tonight," I said.

"The animals ran away from me last time," Fluttershy said.

"They didn't buy anything from me," Apple Jack said, "Maybe I shouldn't make money, but I like to support my family."

"The prince was rude last time," Rarity said.

"The Wonderbolts didn't notice me," Rainbow Dash said, "Even though I once saved them."

"They're too boring to enjoy crazy parties," Pinkie said.

"I think our time will be better- I promise, girls.  You'll bring somepony if you want," I said, "If Celestia's too busy greeting guests, then I will talk with Luna."

"I have made a few dresses. I think they would suit your personalities. You'll see when you come to the boutique," Rarity said.

We all trot to the boutique a second later.  "Do you like those dresses?" Rarity asked as she pulls out five dresses.

The dress that is meant for me has a magenta star on the chest area, and the dress is colored hot pink.  The dress that is meant for Rainbow Dash is rainbow colored, with a thunder bolt-shaped gem on the chest area.  A pastel colored dress is meant for Fluttershy, with the butterfly-shaped gem on the chest area.  Pinkie Pie always wear the most pink, so the dress with the party theme is meant for her- and it has a balloon-shaped gem on the chest area.

Rarity always outshines us with her own dresses.  This time, it is a dark pink dress with ruffles that has sparkly sequins, and not to mention the lace on the sleeve area.  There is a purple gem on the chest area.  "Like the dresses?! We love them!" My friends and I said in reply to Rarity's question.

We get into the dresses, and then Rarity gets into her own dress.  "I am the most bedazzled, but Twilight, you're so lucky to be a princess," Rarity told me.

"Of course I'm lucky, but I didn't ask for it. Celestia gave me those wings because of all the lessons that I have learned," I replied.

My friends' manes are styled, including mine.  Rarity levitates a crown, and places it onto my head.  "No princess is complete without her crown on the night of the ball," She said.

I smile in response.  She's so generous sometimes.  A few minutes later, we are all finished with the makeup and such.  Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack doesn't have makeup because they don't like it.  Fluttershy has a bit of makeup, and Pinkie Pie has some makeup.  I have a bit of makeup- I don't need too much of it.  Rarity always wears makeup, especially during formal events.

Spike walks into the boutique, and he notices Rarity.  "You're so beautiful, Rarity," He told her.

"Thank you, Spikey-wikey! I always get compliments for my beauty," Rarity replied.

"Because Discord is the master of chaos, I think he would disguise himself as a stallion tonight," Fluttershy said.

"We bet," My friends and I said in unison.

"And Cheesy may wear a tuxedo," Pinkie said.

"You and Cheese Sandwich are officially in a relationship?" Rarity asked Pinkie.

"No. We haven't kissed yet," Pinkie replied.

"I bet you're so cute together," Fluttershy said.

We continue to speak with each other as we walk out of the boutique.  Cheese Sandwich appears, and Pinkie Pie walks up to him.  Discord appears, and he is disguised as a pony.  Fluttershy walks up to him.  Both of their partners are wearing a tuxedo.  We all go to the train station to go to Canterlot Castle.

We hop onto the train, and the train starts moving immediately.  A few minutes later, we arrive in Canterlot, and we hop off the train to enter the castle.  Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich seem to be holding in their excitement.  Not so many ponies seem to notice that Discord is in disguise of a stallion.

We walk into the ballroom a second later, and the other ponies seem to enjoy themselves.  Celestia is greeting the guests, and Luna doesn't seem occupied.  I walk up to Luna, and she smiles.  "How are you, Twilight?" She asked.

"I'm fine," I replied.

We walk into the courtyard together, and we then gaze at the moonlit sky together.  "You're so beautiful tonight," I said.

"Thank you, Twilight. You're pretty, too," Luna replied.

Our faces are mere inches apart.  I press my lips against Luna's, and she does the same.  We make out for a few minutes, and then I start to feel as I'm being watched.  We gently break from the kiss, and we turn our heads to the door.  Standing there is Celestia.  "Why haven't you told me?" She asked.

"Celestia, I have liked Luna for a while, and then my feelings escalated enough for me to kiss her," I quickly explained.

"That's not a full explanation, Twilight.  Sister, I didn't want to tell you because...... Well, I know you're protective of Twilight.  I have had a thing for her ever since I talked with her on Nightmare Night.  My feelings for her have escalated, and I have always thought that she is adorable," Luna said, "How did you know of our relationship?"

"I just came into the courtyard, and I saw you both making out.  I was surprised that my student would love my sister," Celestia replied, "I can get used to that- just don't do anything so suggestive or inappropriate."

She walks back into the castle.  She wasn't angry or anything....... But, she has seen us making out.  I repeat, she has just seen that happen.

Fluttershy's P.O.V

Discord and I walk to the right, and the ponies are minding their own business in the ballroom.  Cheese Sandwich and Pinkie Pie hop around the room for a few seconds, and then they settle down.  I smile, and then I kiss Discord on the lips.  Discord responds to the kiss by breaking from the kiss, and he's now blushing.

"It's okay," I said, "You don't have to be ashamed of your past actions."

Pinkie's P.O.V

Cheese Sandwich and I kiss, and then we break from the kiss a moment later.  "Can you be my coltfriend?" I asked.

"Of course!" He replied.

We then hop around once again, like the little foals that are partying hard.

A few minutes later, the ponies flock to a dinner table.  My friends and I walk to the table, too.  Cheese Sandwich sits next to me, and Discord sits next to Fluttershy.  Twilight and Luna are the last ones to come in- and they have a blush on their faces.  They sit together a second later.  "Why are you blushing, Twilight?" I asked my friend.

"Celestia caught me kissing Luna," She replied.

Apple Jack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash seem to overhear the conversation.  "Of course, why didn't you tell us that you like her?" Rarity asked Twilight, "I sort of expected you to be with a stallion, but you are with the princess."

Twilight blushes even more, and Luna stares at us in a stern way as it to tell us to stop asking so many questions.  My friends quit asking, and then they take to eating their dinner.  My friends and I probably still have a lot to ask Twilight about her relationship with the Night princess.

But, for now, it will be better to wait until Twilight is not in a crowded place, where everypony could hear her words.
