Three little words

"So Ditzy, what do you do around Ponyville?" Dead asked as she followed the light gray mare. "I mean besides crashing into ponies who look lonely." Dead chuckled lightly. The pair were walking at a relatively slow pace, enjoying the sight of a slowly setting sun on the horizon.

"Oh I'm a mailmare, I just deliver the mail in the mornings. It puts food on the table so I can't complain." Ditzy said happily as they slow approached the town center. "Not to far from my house. But anyway Dead, what do you do? Besides raise skeletons to help clean up the town."

"Oh I have been living by myself for the past thousand years. I have a little shack in Everfree and had a small farm. Of course this was run by skeletons, but they didn't mind." Dead explained. "I haven't really had much interaction with any living ponies. But still no time like the present eh?"

"Yeah, I guess your right." Dead's stomach interrupted with a large rumble. "Wow, you must be really hungry, how long has it been since you have eaten a full meal?"

"Uh I have been asleep for two weeks, so I guess since then. I have had the odd snack but it doesn't really tide me over well enough. However, before you go off saying that I must eat... I am used to pushing myself over the limits of normal ponies. I have gone for years without eating... It doesn't make it less painful, but it doesn't kill me. I just get very weak..."

"How do you do that?" Ditzy asked as she stopped and looked at Dead with a puzzled look. "I mean, ponies have been saying that you are immortal. But surely you have got to eat? Are you like locked in time or something?"

"Time-locked? How do you know about that?" Dead said in a surprised tone.

"You would be surprised what ponies send to each other, and what they are willing to tell you when they get the said something..."

"Well, I will give you points for knowing. But I am not time-locked... I just learnt that I can take control of my primal systems, the ones that run all the time on auto pilot. I can make them slow down so that I don't consume so much energy."

"Wow... Anyway here we are!" Ditzy stopped and held up a hoof, they were outside a large restaurant that was packed full of ponies coming and going. While it wasn't exactly a fancy restaurant, it suited the town well. "I know the manager here, he owes me a favor."

"Wow, really? I don't need all this... I'm fine with just something small." Dead stuttered as she started to walk back. The idea of being in a restaurant that was full of strangers who would be most likely talking about her, or her skeletons. "Its not that I don't like the offer... But..."

"No, I insist!" Ditzy ordered as she stopped Dead from backing up. "I can get us a privet booth if you are worried about other ponies. Or one that is well away from them at the least..." Dead's stomach answered for her. "I take that as a yes then!" Ditzy took Dead by her hoof and lead her into the busy restaurant. Ditzy quickly walked off to go find the manager, leaving Dead alone in the restaurant.

A clearly drunken colt tripped around the restaurant, he slowly stuttered his way over towards Dead. While Dead was a bit slow on picking up ponies feelings she could tell that the colt had one thing on his mind. The colt tumbled over to Dead and bumped into her. "Osh! Shorry." The colt slurred out, it was clear he had drunk a little to much. He looked over Dead and took a few moments to register who she was. "Oh! You! You're er'! Tha one who mahde all the dead things!" The colt made some strange gesture that Dead did not recognize. "Whe shud halve shex!"

"Excuse me?" A shocked Dead said.

"Yew 'eard me!" The colt said half angrily.

"No. No thank you..." Dead stuttered out. She rolled her eyes when she the colt refused to move.

"Why nawt?"

"Because you're clearly drunk."

"Buh that makes it better!"

"No means no. Okay?"

"Plwease?"

"Look, she said no. Now leave her alone." Ditzy said as she returned. "By the way Dead I was able to get us a seat on the VIP balcony. We won't have to deal with drunken colts looking to score."

"Stoopid goofy eyes... " The colt mumbled as he trudged away, head hung in disappointment.

"Alright Ditzy. Lets go, if anymore colts try their luck I might have to summon some protection." Dead sighed. "You lead the way."

"Alright..." Ditzy sighed. "Sometimes the colts in this town can be right idiots when they are drunk..." Ditzy stared at the floor for a moment before weakly smiling at Dead.

"You alright Ditzy? You seem a little down." Dead asked with a concerned look and tone.

"Yeah, I will be alright in a minuet. I'm used to having ponies making fun of my eyes, but sometimes it too much." Ditzy started to walk towards a staircase. "Come on, lets forget about that drunken idiot."

"Well you heard of skeletons in your closet?" Dead said as a sinister smile formed slowly made its way onto her face.

"Dead what did you do?" A curious Ditzy asked.

"Well lets just say, when that colt wakes up. He will know not the try and hit on a necromancer. Or drink too much. He will wake up in a graveyard within a pile of bones. Cruel I know, but well deserved."

"I ain't arguing..." Ditzy let out a small chuckle. "Ponies don't normally stuck up for me like that, I crash and make so many mistakes..."

"Well I summon skeletons from their graves and get them to do labor for me. Can't be much worse then that." Dead laughed as they made it to a staircase. A large stallion in a black tuxedo stepped in the way. The stallion glanced over the pair and smiled when he saw Ditzy.

"Hey Ditzy, hows the mail delivery gig working out?" The stallion asked polity, while he may have been a bouncer he obviously had a sensitive side.

"Same as always, not much happening that calls for a lot of news."

"Ah, so a bit slow then?"

"Yeah, but its a living."

"I'l let you two on up now, no need to keep ya dinner waiting."

The pair walked up the stairs and a waiter greeted them, they were directed over to a table at the corner of the balcony. It had a view of the restaurant below, however a tilted railing meant that it would be hard to see those sat on it. Only a few other ponies were in the VIP section and they were chatting away and failed to notice the pair sit down. The waiter did the usual meet and greet, he took orders for drinks and promised to be back with a minuet or so.

"I never would had pegged you for someone who drunk cranberry juice. I haven't tried it personally. Not many bushes grow out here." Ditzy said happily.

"Oh I had a few at my house. I am quite the cranberry addict... I also want to avoid getting drunk tonight... Last time it cause a fair amount of issues." Dead laughed. "Still I'm glad I came down. Even though we have just met, I am not regretting a moment. Anyway what do you have planned for food?"

"Oh I might just get something basic. I'm not really in the mood for something fancy." Ditzy smiled at Dead.

"I might get a salad and some hay fries. Maybe some dragon fruit on the side... Its been a while since I have had dragon fruit..." Dead sighed as she relaxed. The thought of eating a dragon fruit flooded her mind. Unaware of what she was doing Dead let out a small moan.

"Dead? You alright?" A stunned Ditzy said.

Dead, realizing what she had just done blushed largely. "Oh... Sorry! I didn't mean to do that... I was just thinking about dragon fruit... Its so delicious. Mmmm" Dead smiled lightly. The waiter returned with the drinks and placed them on the table. He took the duo's orders and left quickly. Dead drank a bit of her drink before talking again. "Y'know, I never expected anypony to treat me so nice. I have done some bad things..."

"Dead. Now is not the time. Nor will there ever be. Your past will remain that." Ditzy said in a stern tone.

"Woah... Okay..."

"While you were asleep Luna made sure that everypony was informed of the risks of a necromancer living in the town. Someponies weren't happy about it, but they cal just go shove it..."

"Woah, Ditzy... Where did that come from?" Dead asked.

"Sorry... I had a rough foalhood... I don't like it when ponies judge others so quickly... I mean you cleaned up the town after that huge storm! And yet some ponies still think you are evil..." Ditzy paused at looked over to Dead. "You're a wonderful pony... I don't think I could not like you... And those ponies that don't like you..."

"Its okay Ditzy, they can't hurt us, and if they try... They will end up like that colt. In a graveyard... Surrounded by skeletons and most likely screaming 'WHAT HAVE I DONE!'" Dead laughed, however she noticed that Ditzy was still staring at her. "Something the matter?"

"Its just..." A large bead of sweat rolled down Ditzy's head. Ditzy placed her hoofs on the table and tried to take a hold of something. Ditzy was obviously in some sort of distress, Dead extended her hoofs and took Ditzy's hoofs in hers. Ditzy's hoofs stopped moving the moments Dead took hers. "Dead..." For the first time Dead took note of Ditzy's actions. She was sweating heavily and hyperventilating, she was agitated and unable to sit still. Every now and then she would let a nervous chuckle out. Dead knew what this was, because she was in a similar situation.

Dead's throat was drying, she kept swallowing nervously, she could feel beads of sweat starting to form on her face and she began to get very hot very quickly, her stomach was full of butterflies and for no reason she let out the odd chuckle. She felt one of her eyes twitch.

The sudden sound of plates being place on the table brought both mares back to reality. Dead chuckled as she started to eat her dinner. "So... That happened..." Dead said with a mouthful of hay, she tried to beat back her dry throat but the hay did not help. She found herself chuckling again for no reason. A quick drink beat back the dry throat and allowed her to swallow. "Sorry about that. This has never happened to me before. I have never been at a fancy restaurant and I have never been treated so nicely..."

"Its okay..." Ditzy stuttered out. "Just take it slowly... I think I will as well." Ditzy started to eat her dinner. She took small slow bites. Dead watched almost every movement in her body before she slapped herself back into reality. She cursed herself for gawking. "Uh Dead? Are you going to eat that? You just seem to be staring..." Ditzy said nervously and smiled at Dead.

"Yeah! I'm alright." Dead stuttered as she was taken back. She quickly piled a small amount of hay in her mouth and started chewing erratically. She scoffed the hay down quickly and set about eating her salad, she tried not to focus so much on Ditzy.

She wasn't trying hard enough.

She kept looking at mare as she slowly ate her meal. Every time  Ditzy looked up Dead would quickly put something in her mouth to make it look like she wasn't paying any attention. Of course this made her look even more suspicious, and Ditzy was just giving Dead a strange look as her mouth was packed with salad. "Dead are you alright? You seem to be having trouble eating..."

"Murf." Was all Dead could muster, she quickly tried to bite down and compact some of the salad. "Urrrrhrhhhhh!" She was able to swallow a bit and then resume chewing. "Ahhhhh!" She sighed happily as she finished swallowing her salad. "Sorry about that..." Dead blushed. "My mind seems to be wondering a lot..." Dead stuttered and coughed.

"Are you sure you're alright? You seem to be having trouble eating..." Ditzy chuckled as she smiled warmly at Dead, and then the eggs that were in the salad hatched and Dead's stomach was full to the brim with butterflies. Dead chuckled back, however it sounded forced, she began to sweat and she started to heat up... Again. "Dead? Are you alright?"

"Yeah... I will be alright! Just..." Dead noticed a small bowl of exotic looking fruit next to Ditzy. A fruit that she was all to familiar with. Dead's eyes lit up like the night sky. "Is that..."

"Yes, I had it given to me with our meals. I thought now might be a good time to give it to you..."

"I..." Dead took the bowl with her magic, something she had not used in the night. The bright red fruit split evenly and Dead levitated a piece over to Ditzy, who instinctively opened her mouth as Dead slowly placed it in. Ditzy slow closed her mouth and started to chew of fruit.

"Mmmm... That was delicious." Ditzy said as she swallowed the fruit. Once she had finished Dead began eating her half.

Dead smiled happily as she chewed on the exotic fruit, however her mind was elsewhere. She was focus on the mare sat opposite. The mare who had reduced her to a chuckling, sweat and jittery filly. The mare who she had literately met an hour ago. The mare who made her feel feelings she didn't know she had. "Ditzy..."

"Dead..."

"I...I..."

"Yes?"

"I...Think that..."

"You think that?"

"I think...No... I know that..."

"You know that?"

"Darn it! I can do this! I may have only just met you... But you're the nicest pony I have met! And I!"

"You?"

"I LOVE YOU DITZY!"
